Looks super consistent!!
I'm very impressed so far. 😎
Original is 35 kw ??
Yes, that is correct.
8:01 I notice the coating on the grouphead here appears to be bubbling from beneath, that is, between the substrate (cast alumimium?) and the coating. Can you, or anyone watching, tell me why and whether this would (a) unsafe and (b) a warranty issue? I wouldn't fancy the coating flaking off and entering the coffee stream...
Thanks for tuning in & great attention to detail. I would assume this is caused by long term neglect (not warranty) & it probably isn't ideal to have foreign objects potentially making their way into your coffee, but I would say the insides of a boiler that has been neglected would be far more problematic than this. I hope this helps.
The reason for the two switch’s on the DF83v is because when main power is on the ionizer and led is running. This way you can shut it off by powering down the main power and the small button works the motor. On the DF 64v there is only the small button for the motor therefore you have to unplug it to turn the power off to the ionizer and led.
That's a really good explanation. 🙏
Does it have a button for Americano?
There is a hot water spout to pour water before or after your espresso.
To me, consistency is always key to a good grinder. I've had some shockers in my time, where the grind will vary by ten to fifteen seconds. A three second variance is very impressive. It's good to see a review with decent priorities, thank you 👍
Thanks for tuning in mate. Yes, a few seconds either way is super impressive for a home grinder.
Great video mate! I am from Sydney too so I WONT be the 1000th person to ask if they need a tune after this mod 😁! I’m thinking about buying one of these bikes for my wife. She previously owned a LAMS MT07 (damn that thing had some toe for a learner bike!!!) and that just had a restrictor plate attached to the throttle cable that prevented the throttle from being fully opened. It was a 5 minute job to unscrew the restricted plate and replace it with an unrestricted one. I never pulled it apart to see if the intakes were also restricted like the Honda.
Thanks dude! Yea, those MT07's are a special bike... I was under the impression there was some kind of restriction on the MT tunes... But I could be wrong. 🤷♂️ Check out @doesgarage for more bike content. 😉
Thanks for the honest review! I got the 078s via kickstarter so happily I didn't pay retail for it. While waiting for what seemed like more than a year for deliverey I got a DF64V because I needed something while waiting. When the 078S arrived I ran into all of the same issues you've described except for, somehow, the inconsistency in grind. The workflow was clearly much worse than the DF64V though, and getting to the burrs on the 078s for cleaning/alignment was a nightmare, bloodied my knuckles every time. I just can't understand all the positive, uncritical reviews of the 078s I've found online. Anyway, sold the 078s and remain happy with the DF64V.
Thanks for tuning in. I'm not sure if there are people experiencing a different situation to yours & mine or they haven't used anything else... Because I certainly wouldn't recommend the 078s to anyone. The DF range are far superior
I purchased and installed the verybarista 58mm Shower Screen Upgrade Kit on Amazon (Spain) for the new Oracle JET. It fits. I reused the existing bolt. The shower screen holder fits well. I left the original white grouphead sealing (silicone gasket) in. The blue grouphead sealing (silicone gasket) looked like it fits as well. I didn't bother trying though, since my machine is new. Love the stainless steel heavy feel and quality.
Thanks for tuning in. Nice to hear it works well. Just keep that blue seal as a replacement when it's due for a service. 😎
As far as i know steel is magnetic, "magnetic material" won't affect your flavor as long as it is non corrosive.
Not all "metals" are magnetic... there is some evidence to show water flowing inconsistently with materials that have magnetic properties. And if we keep adding more variables to our extractions, we are only making things harder. 👍
Wonderfully concise and clear explanation on how to set one's LP piston throw for maximum volume delivery. Cheers
Thank you so much 🙏
In case of touch screen failure, can the Fiorenzato Allground grind manually from the switch button ?
No, if the touch screen fails, you have likely fried the main board. Under $200aud to replace.
is better than sage/braville touch?
Yes... Far better.
@@mitchdoescoffee its aviable in europe? im looking for something like sage touch you know, all in one solution ;P i would appreciate answer! thanks
I think the Mazzer Philos offers a lot more value at it's launch price.
I'm not sure if you realise from the pictures and reviews, but it's huge
@sAmiZZle82 Yeah. I know. I own one. It looks great in the kitchen and it's very heavy. Oozes quality. Grinds more than fast enough and the stock burrs are great (i200d)
Very doubtful frankly. It is from Mazzer so that's a big plus, but the df83 has bigger burrs and costs significantly less. I was between the 2 and just ordered the df.
I would have to disagree. DF is 25-30% cheaper, Larger burrs, Adjustable RPM, 680w motor (vs 400w), Quieter & comes with bellows.
@@mitchdoescoffee here's the thing, larger burrs don't really mean anything in a home setting. Will it grind a bit faster? Sure. Doesn't really matter to a lot of people. The Philos grinds plenty fast. Adjustable RPM is a gimmick. It hasn't been proven that it does anything to improve taste. A lot of people also hate bellows, including myself. My Philos has zero retention when using the knocker.
Is this is a big machine??
Not at all. It's slightly bigger than a small home espresso machine.
What is the influence of the number of the holes in the screen holder (8 vs 10)? In the video you used one with 10 holes. The one in the link has 8 holes. Thanks!
I wouldn't over think that... anything is better than the original plastic... 👌
I have one and agree it is great but needs 10 to 15 kilos of coffee to break in the burrs. First coffee of the day always seems to run 10 sec slower but still good! Any thoughts?
Wow! That seems like ALOT of coffee to season the burrs. I was lucky enough to be loaned a demo version, which has been well used previously. I can't imagine why the first coffee of the day would be affected so dramatically due to the grinder... I would usually lean that issue towards the machine... Are you single dosing & "hot starting"?
@@mitchdoescoffee Single dosing and hot starting. Coffee machine fully up to temp. 30 mins on. I live in southern Tasmania and humidity is high!
Maybe weigh the output of your first grind of the day compared to the next. Perhaps something is causing retention?
What's your espresso machine ? Do you have an e61 group head ? Sounds like you are not letting the machine get hot enough for the first coffee of the day. Colder machine, colder water, takes longer to extract and also won't taste as good. Make sure you are near 93-94 celsius for medium roasts and about 96 for lighter ones, if you have a PID.
@@sAmiZZle82 Same weight as later shots!
Yep I absolutely should have waited and got this instead of the DF 83 It's significantly quieter and the variable RPM would be fun to play with I wonder how you found the espresso produced in comparison to the timemore Keen to see other reviews with it especially if you mess around with the variable rpms.
I don't know if I would encourage you to sell your DF83 to buy this... as I doubt you will see "that much" of a difference in your espresso. But in comparison to MY experience with the Timemore, these guys aren't even on the same field. DF83v is by far the superior grinder.
It’s unfortunate for us Kiwis, as no one imports/supports this particular model grinder in New Zealand. Of course your link is an option to purchase in Aussie.
Hey mate, Dipacci NZ is a reseller. 😎 dipacci.co.nz/products/coffee-tech-df83v-coffee-grinder?_pos=3&_sid=cc0136866&_ss=r
Australian retailers are pretty good about warranty on NZ used products, and vise versa
DF64coffee do
What's the pencil like tool on 0:05? Is that used for cleaning?
Air gun. Just blowing out any excess junk that I couldn't reach with the cloth.
@mitchdoescoffee thank you!!
@TwainB you're welcome. 🙏
What is the difference between American and Italian made in espresso machines?
I guess the argument would be between Slayer 🇺🇸 & Sanremo 🇮🇹 - Slayer makes very well-built machines (billet components) -Sanremo makes machines that produce "better" espresso.
@ why 🇺🇸 always expensive?
@mryoyo7741 I think there are a few reasons... but #1 I would assume is t h e fact of USA labour is more expensive.

I didn't know infused coffees were a thing. I should give it a try some time. Thanks for another video!
Yes, they are slightly frowned upon, but they can be very tasty.
Interesting video thanks The music was a bit loud and all audio tracks need to be mono.
Ah thanks mate. My editing software has updated and the numbers don't seem to be the same. I'll sort it by the next video. 🙏
@ I use Davinci Resolve I cracked the 💩 with Premiere and the crashing. The free version DR is amazing it even uses your GPU for rendering tho the studio version still renders faster.
@PubRunner I tried Resolve... I found it so clunky to use. Powerdirector 365 is really impressive & has all of the additions already attached.
@@mitchdoescoffee yeah the learning curve is pretty steep. I have the speed editor keyboard and it helps a lot.
@PubRunner I think I've been using power director for so long, I'm just super comfortable with it.
With restricted bikes like these shouldn't you get a dyno guy to retune the ECU because now it'll be running super lean?
Sure do. 👌
I reckon you should buy an Arabica Plant. I saw one in woolies recently and in 2-3 years harvest your first beans. Roast them at home and make a coffee that took 3 years but only from in your own home.
I've tried twice... The climate in Sydney isn't great for it. Hahaha
Shamili-air 😂
😅
We back!
Yes sir. 😎
brilliant!
Thank you so much. 🙏
@@mitchdoescoffee I am going to use this trick with the 1971 Europiccola I am currently working on to stop leaking water
@AMXalberto ah. Where is it leaking from?
An overview is always nice. No its ot tiktok but who is going to sit through an entire video "In the hope" you may get to the point. Great first shot!
One comment telling me to leave more info, another comment telling me to talk less... What would you do it this situation?
Only issue with the shot counter in the app is that it counts how many times the pump gets started - so a flush before a shot and a cleaning flush afterwards will get counted as... 3 shots.
Yes, this is very true.
Yes indeed, if you plumb it and add a pressure regulating valve on the line (which you should, the machine should not get more than 4 bars), you can see the regulated line pressure directly on the boiler pressure gauge when the machine is off.
👍
Just checking. I have a Barista Pro and replaced both the upper shower screen and the portafilter basket with the 54mm IMS versions. There is no upper plastic dispersion screen on the Barista Pro though, right?
That is correct. 👍
Hey Mitch, great video!!! Quick question, are the 58mm Shower and Dispersion Screen you linked compatible with the new Oracle Jet? Thanks
Hey mate. I believe so.
I bought one, dead on arrival. Stupidly went ahead with a replacement. Solenoids burnt out after 2 years. Currently pours inconsistent shots. Hate it!
Oh wow. That's a rough story. 😕 What's next?
well explained comparison...
Thank you 🙏 and cheers for tuning in.
I assume this test you did in the end was with the machine running off the tank? Plumbed (as I have it) you’d get flow from the line pressure as soon as the lever was raised…
Yes, the tank will give you a slight pre-infusion (not as much as when plumbed in) but enough to wet the puck slightly.
Tried this today, got everything connected fine, but think i need something a bit studier to block off the hot water outlet, used a small disk i cut out if a silicone baking tray, but ended up with water squirting out, and for some reason water coming out if the top of the steam wand. Reverted and all good. Will try ahain at a later date. Good informative video though!
Ah yes. There are some pretty basic plumbing caps you can get to block the water tap. If you're getting water coming from the steam wand, I'd say you need to replace the o-ring. 👍
@mitchdoescoffee was water coming out the top of the wand, possibly the pipe going into the hot water outlet wasn't secured properly. That's a project for another day however 😂
How much torque we gonna get after dyno run in Nm ???
I'm not too sure to be honest... it will depend alot on the tuner, your gearing & what sort of riding style you want.
If I do the same thing with an A2 license, will it get 95 PS? Also, do I need to tune the ECU?
If you perform these modifications, yes you will need to tune the ecu
Thanks Mitch! Great tips. My LaPavoni is en route. Can't wait
Congratulations on your purchase. 🙏 Thanks for tuning in.
Its a bit weird the ims screen for Oracle is smaller than express
It's a different portafilter, baskets, shower, etc...
Those owl eyes 👀 made the beginning part hard to watch
🤣 Easily distracted?
i stopped watching as soon as you mentioned u make cold brew regularly.
🤣 Why, does my wife's preferred coffee upset you?
@@mitchdoescoffee doesnt upset me, its just not possible to extract as much flavor compared to other methods.
@christianlee1423 that is not correct. A 24 hour steep will extract far more flavours than a 25 second espresso.
@@mitchdoescoffee heat plays a major role in extracting flavors, im not sure where u get this info. if u can share some links it would be appreciated.
interestingly Kmart no longer sells this coffee machine, i am surprised given it;s only been a year since your review vid. the onw they have now is $79, black plastic cheap looking one :( Wonder if you would do a ewview on that? TIA.
It was actually almost impossible to find the week after I did this review. I believe there may have been some issues caused by it looking/performing very similar to delonghi machine that is 4x the price. 🤣
Actually, Melitta is a German coffee company selling standard industry coffee and some coffee machines. My parents had an old one from the 80's. And tbh, I am not convinced, that Melitta will develop this machine further since it addresses home applications for the average user knowing not so much about brewing coffee.
Consider the price... it beats anything else on the market.
@@mitchdoescoffee Not the breem pour over. It is 20€ cheaper
Things that might help people; grind at the lowest rpm, don't RDT, do at least 10 clicks on the 'knocker', pay attention to distribution in the basket, tamp very light (reduce dosage slightly if needed), reduce machine pressure to no more than 8 bar, check burr alignment (mine needed a bit of shimming on the rear fixed burr). If it helps, when checking alignment, you only need 2 of the 6 socket cap screws opposite each other to hold the front bearing plate in. This will save a lot of time. ✌️
Thanks for the insight.
Dude you need to be joking. Just left a comment on part 1 and watched this. My opera has my mt10 keeping it company 😂. And engineers nowadays being part fitters so on point and what I always say. It's like watching myself in a different country 😂
This is so freaky. Hahaha. Where are you from??
@mitchdoescoffee I live in Northern Ireland bro. Freaky indeed. Such a relief to find I'm not alone lol 😅. Keep us updated with what happened to the machine, if it got sold in a cafe etc and keep up the good work !
@Alex-b1c1h oh wow. That's so crazy. Hahaha. The 2 group will be getting installed at the roastery once some little things are sorted & the 3 group is getting turned into an expensive coffee table. 😅
My dude !! I couldn’t relate more.... Purchased my own opera v1 second hand 3 years ago with the intention of opening my high end cafe. The dream never happened as i got a secure job with a roaster and due to my unborn child back then it was the right decision (no regrets). That machine is still currently is sitting in my garage after I completely refurbished it to run to perfection. I literally just emptied the boilers to get it ready for winter lol. Now it's just a reminder of an old dream offering the most refined espressos as I don't want to sell it for a ridiculously low price. Sad to see that they never took off and depreciate so badly. Maybe the coffee world just wasn't ready for when they came out and one day they will be appreciated for what they truly are. Appreciate your videos and commitment and how much you value this amazing piece of equipment.
Oh wow. I didn't know I had a twin!? 😅😅😅 Cheers for the support my dude. 🙏
If only the Gaggia wasn’t trash to begin with….
Gaggia is certainly not trash... over 30 years of improvement. The EVO definitely had some gremlins in the early days, but there is NOTHING better than a Gaggia Classic for the same price.
