Hi Dr Ekberg, thank you very much for your great info! In this video you mention the importance of fiber. There are some doctors though, like dr Boz, and carnivore TH-camrs who claim fiber is bad for you. Could you do a special video on pro's and con's of fiber?
Hi, I remembered from a previous video that you mentioned your daily caloric intake to be around 1600. Your macros in the current video set that at 2500 cal/day. Can you explain the difference? Because the macros do work... the more proteins you eat, the more fat you need to eat. I just can't imagine someone eating 2500 cal/day on OMAD...
Hello Dr.Sten ,do you know Yerba mate tea ? What do you think about it ? I heard a lot about this tea that help with weight loss, before I take , I wanted to get info about it, since other think the it cause cancer. Please tell us , it’ll help a lot

In Jan 2020 I was diagnosed with stage 1 ovarian cancer and went through surgery and 4 rounds of chemo (carbo and taxol). At that time I was already doing a 24 hr fast one day a week, as well as doing LCHF, so for chemo days I would also fast. I had some pretty significant side effects (neuropathy, brain fog) but got through it and was clear for two and a half years. June 2022 I was found to have another mass that had adhered to my colon. It’s the nature of the beast, which is ovarian cancer! Surgery again and a different kind of chemo (carbo and doxil). This time I decided to do a three day fast around chemo because I was told that this chemo could cause hand and foot syndrome and heart problems. I would fast the day before, the day of, and the day after, with just electrolytes. I have had NO side effects whatsoever! It’s like I’m not even having chemo! Sure, three days is hard, but the payoff is incredible. And that first meal after fasting tastes soooo goood! I have my sixth and final round in February and I expect the same results. Thank you Dr Ekberg for being one of those that led me to this lifestyle. I’m not sure I would be here to enjoy my life without your guidance. God bless! Update: My Feb chemo was supposed to be on the 1st but we had an ice storm and the doctor’s office shut down. They finally called me on the evening of the 4th to see if I could come in the next morning. Long story short, I was only able to fast for two days instead of three. Holy cow! What a difference! I had four days of misery with nausea, chills, night sweats, bone pain and back spasms. Three days is really the sweet spot for chemo. I got the results of my follow-up PET scan today and there is no sign of cancer. Yay! I’m off to Hawaii to celebrate!
I am a lab rat. I am a heavy man. I am a HEAVY type 2 diabetic without any consequences. I am out of the normal trends. LOL I went in to the hospital 18 years ago for an infected cut. They decided to check my blood sugar... They freaked out! I was at 77 .. no consequences! That is why I have been studied so much! WHY NO consequences???? But it's now at a the point I can't deal with doctors and frankly they can't figure me out! All their usual theories don't work! Still I was obese and out of shape. I wasn't feeling 100%... So I decided to find the best diet for me. What diet did I need??? I extensively studied and learned alot about what you are talking about given that my case is so extreme. I tested on myself to find the best diet ! In the end, DR.Ekberg. I came out with the same conclusions as you. How you are eating is how I eat! I have been doing this for months.First 6 months was cleaning myself. Became fat adapted. Kinda deroxed myself. Last 12 months, I lost 65 lbs. 40lbs away from my ideal weight. All I wanted to say is that This video is the best! It screams adapt to your needs! The video is dead on! My case should tell people to eat this way!
I have arthritis & had badly swollen joints until I changed to a low carbohydrate diet; now the swelling has gone. My family doctor was no help; just told me to take pain killers, which made the swelling worse. Thank you for these video's, you have improved my life.
I have noticed that doctors are really good at fixing broken bones, doing surgeries and diagnosing a condition. But they rarely focus on solving a chronic problem other than sending you home with some pill that will create another problem. In the end we have to take over our own health and learn how the body works and more important find what works for you.
1. Strip Steak 2. Bell Pepper 3. Mushroom 4. Full fat Greek Yogurt 5. Blackberries 6. Flaxseed 7. Avocado 8. Romaine 9. Cauliflower 10. Onion This if I could have only ten foods. Also need to have my full selection of spices (Paprika, Cayenne Pepper, Garlic Powder, Black Pepper, Italian seasoning as must haves). I am trying to figure out which of the 10 I would drop for eggs or canned herring. Also need EVVO and vinegar. It really is impossible to make a good diet out of just 10 items. I also use full fat cottage cheese in place of Greek Yogurt and some raspberries in place of the blackberries on occasion. I add sour cream to my salads, but I could do without it.
Meat. Salt. Water. Done. Don't make excuses- you can make a diet out of three items. Everyone wants so many options but nobody wants to do the work. If you want to be healthy be healthy, dont say its impossible to pick a diet with fewer than ten items. For those of us who want to be healthy, sometimes it is 3 items- meat salt water. Stop making excuses. If you want to really be healthy you can not have your cake and eat it to. Sadly that's just that for some people.
@@ChuckCanada1 A diet has to be sustainable. Also eating is part of enjoyment of life. I am pretty happy with my keto diet, and I feel that I can maintain for the rest of my life. I am not giving up vegetables, full fat dairy, or blackberries. Without those then I will eat things that are really unhealthy for me. I have more desire for my yogurt/flaxseed/blackberry than I do for a piece of cheesecake for example.
I appreciate your approach of whatever works for the individual. You have been a godsend for me. You have helped me change my life. I am down 100 pounds from this time last year and your videos have been the best source of information for me, teaching me how our bodies work with the food we eat. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you @northcountry32 for sharing your great results and helping inspire others. That is so awesome. I am thrilled that you have seen such great results. Keep it up! 😄
@@drekberg Besides going from 350 to 250 lbs I would tell people the biggest impact I have noticed is my mental clarity. Mood swings, depression and anxiety are at an all time low. At 54 I genuinely feel like a 35 year old. 50 pounds to go and I know I will make it. This holiday I ate way too much "junk" and packed on 10 pounds... lesson learned. Thankfully it was mostly water retention I think and I shed it in about a week... other things like sore joints lack of energy and motivation are a thing of the past. Listening to our body is so much easier when we detox from the poisons. Thank you again for being a big part of my healthy living plan. I so appreciate your passion and dedication to healthy living. ❤✌
@@northcountry32 Congrats! You're right about mental health component. I'm 50 & I lost 96 lbs 4 yrs ago and like you, feel more 30 now than I did when I was 30. You're doing great! Don't beat yourself up too much about the holiday junk eating. You know what to do about it now. Enjoy your new self
I am going to lose 15 lbs this year. I started on the 1st and lost that excess 3 lbs of water already. I have walked 40 minutes each day and had 2 meals in a 10 hr span. Now this video has given me my much needed next step info. I'm in my mid 70s but I feel it's never to late to start.
@CLAUDIA STEVENS, I wish you the best in your journey to better health💪I’m in my sixties and started intermittent fasting over two years ago. It was hard at the beginning because I’m a carb addict but two years later I’m doing great. When you fail and you will because these are eating patterns we are used to DON’T GIVE UP! Start by not saying how many pounds you want to loose. Just start doing it, slowly eliminate the harmful foods, oils etc. it’s absolutely great that you are walking because it is a must for your mental health too. If you want keep a food journal at the beginning. After two years, my blood work is better than my younger years, my skin looks great for my age and not swollen and when people who hadn’t seen me for some time (Covid) say wow, don’t you eat anymore? That’s because my body was swollen/ bloated. My food is eggs, butter, bacon, olive oil, olives, goat feta cheese, beef, fish, some chicken🤢,spring mix, onions ,blueberries , homemade bread for my eggs, homemade chicken soup. Very simple menu. I stopped eating nuts(rarely) and other vegetables because they were bothering my gut( no gallbladder). This doctor is a great instructor so follow his videos. Another to check for ladies is Dr. Mindy Pelz. Good luck, Happy New Year❤️💪🥳
U can lose 15lbs in 2-3 weeks if u really want. cut out ALL PROCESSED FOODS AND SUGARS and cut down on your complex carbs if you eat a lot. that alone u will see a big improvement. Increase your servings of fruits and vegetables.
@@tjgrafiks he is in his 70!!! If he loses 15 lbs in 2 weeks his doctor will die of a heart attack. It really depends on his initial weight and remaining fitness. 1-2 lbs per week is more than enough. If his body is used to a lot of carbs, and you cut them out he will get sick. Never advise an elderly person to change his nutrition or exercise drastically in a short time. Their bodies need much longer to adapt. What do you expect him to do to get in an 800-1000kcal deficit if his expenditure is around 1200-1400kcal?? Run a 10k every single day for 3 weeks???
I've been waiting for a video like this from you. So many people have told me that a super low carb lifestyle is unsustainable. I begged to differ. I'm nearly 2 years into this and there is no looking back! Thank you so much. As far as your favorite list growing past 10, no problem, as variety is the spice of life.
Thank you @SalLazuka for sharing your great results and helping inspire others. That is so awesome. I am thrilled that you have seen such great results. Keep it up! 😄
The people telling you that have never gone on a keto diet. Many are put off by the cost and sugar withdrawals. Those who push through have nothing but positive things to report.
Of course, a lot of anorexic people also didn’t eliminate carbs and manage to lose weight through caloric deficit. Nothing remarkable about that. People have even lost weight with surgery such as liposuction. None of this is great for your health but yeah there’s a million ways to lose weight if that is your only concern
Dr. Eckberg you are a genuine treasure in a sea of information out there. All of your content is so rational and well thought out. It just makes sense. Thank you for saying things like "buy the best quality foods you can" but not condemning anyone if they can't afford or don't have access to it. Your voice is so soothing to me too. I often fall asleep with you in my air pods at night! 🙂
Absolutely love that you have 23 items in your top ten! A very reasonable and flexible list with a few other tasty options too. Your comment that an occasional goodie creates more craving is so true. Thank you!
Good advice. I did just 2 things. I cut out sugar ( sweets, cakes, biscuits) and stopped refined carbs such as white bread, all rice and pasta. 7 month Into this and around 30Lbs lost. I do eat a couple of slices of wholemeal bread a day, every day. I don't miss sweets at all, but I used to love my rubbishy white bread lol.
Love your yogurt blend. I reversed prediabetes and lost 60 pounds a few years ago by keeping my carbs around 20g. And walking. Now I can afford to go a little higher on some days. Thank you for all your expert advice.
We get a sugar free ketchup. No sweetener at all in this ketchup. I can't believe I never saw that ketchup before! It's so good! Ketchup does not need any sugar or any kind of sweetener at all! The brand is *Primal Kitchen.* It's Organic and unsweetened. Yumm! 😋
Hello Dr Ekberg, I came across this video last week and watched all of it, this gives me hope that some day I’ll be off with Metformin. I been a type 2 diabetic for 27 years now. I started doing fasting last week with meds and 10 hours fasting at first with little carbs but my glucose will go up and down so finally I want to try without medication and no carbs, I fast for 14 hours my sugar levels in the morning was 232 the next day 16 hours 196, next day and today is 182, it’s going down with out the help of medication and before I ate today 2:pm my glucose dropped to 156. I’m going to keep doing this until I rich my goal to normal. Many thanks to you 👍.
Suggestion: Trader Joe's carries "Folios Parmesan Cheese Wraps" that are an amazing substitute for tortillas; each 7-inch wrap has 1g carbs and are gluten free. Also soysauce has gluten in it; a GF substitute is Tamari -- tastes the same to me (I'm celiac) and supermarkets carry it. I've even seen it at Trader Joe's,
You are clearly very educated and I believe that you know what you are talking about added to the fact that you are not an MD that wants the whole population on meds is the reason I follow you.
Hello sir, from Africa, I watch your video in USA, I'm Japanese and you are so great who explains everyone to understand, I'm encouraging my daughter and son-in-law to watch . Thanks million. God bless.
I’m on Keto + IF recently. That’s the great thing to work on yourself. If you let me to advice you to increase, much share, popularise this lifestyle, I think, it would be great to translate your videos into many languages. it will help many people change their lives. Thank Sten, you are an amazing speaker.Good job.
Another great video doc! You’ve opened my eyes to how important my health is and how I need to be feeding my body. I went from eating fast food every day to eating a low carb, high fat, high protein diet whilst going to the gym 6x a week! I feel as good as I did in my teenage years!
I have learned so incredibly much from Dr. Ekberg along with some of the other TH-camrs oriented toward health and nutrition. My foods are now very much like Dr. Ekberg's list and I'm amazed that I only eat wheat once in a great while. My current schedule is that I eat breakfast late in the morning on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, and I have dinner every day around 6-7PM. I've been starting to move toward longer fasts. I successfully undertook 48-hour fasts in May and June and did my first 72-hour fast in July. I'm going to do another 72-hour fast next week, eventually intending a five-day fast next January. So far, I'm down from a high of 235 pounds to under 205. I feel much better, I sleep better, I think better. Thank you, Dr. Ekberg.
Hello! I am a 60+ year-old postmenopausal woman. I started intermittent fasting in July 2022 with regular exercise (nothing strenuous.). I lost 15 pounds in five months!! Would have been more if I gave up the occasional cake and ice cream, but what fun would that be. Thank you, Dr. Ekberg!
After being diagnosed t2d I started to make my own ketchup. Its really easy to do and by doing it myself I can control what goes into it. All I do is to combine some tomato sauce, a little tomato paste, a little apple cider vinegar, and allulose for the sweetener. I will also sometimes put a dash of something in it for heat but not always.
I have been lifting for 6 mnths 4x wk...lost 80lbs & kept off 3 yrs doing cardio.....do you think I need more carb grams. I don't feel well with high fat for energy....carbs work for me. I eat about 100 grams 4 days from green vegetables/sweet potatoes & fruit in season. Thanks for all you do to help us stay healthy.
Ty Dr. Ecberg. I loved this video. Nice to have a role model, especially when I'm doing keto/low carb on my own. And I like how u qualified everything. I'm low carb now, but currently reviewing my diet to cut out more carbs. Recommitted for 3 days now. My face looks slimmer already, my hair stopped falling out, candida reducing, sciatic nerve pain diminishing & back pain gone. I'm a little sad because 10 years ago I was keto, but other people said my diet was unhealthy. So I went LFHC. What a disaster. Keto results manifest strongly for me. So now I'm just going to run with it.
Question reg. potatoes: I read, that it's better for the body to 1) boil potatoes 2) let them cool down 3) heat them again as you like it. The rationale is, that the cooling process changes the starch (=glucose). I've never heard that before, have any of you?? I ate it twice so far & felt great the next day. Though the whole meal was close to ideal: fish, home made garlic sauce, Greek salad & oven potatoes. The potato texture was a tiny bit different, more doughy . The medical reason behind for me is high blood pressure, which I developed as side effect of medication. Tipp: If you have blood pressure spikes too: betroot juice works wonders for me. It's a temporary effect of ca. 12-24 hours and takes maybe an hour to kick in. I borrowed a basic smart watch that measures vitals very 30 min & shows statistics in an app. I love it
Ya, I end up doing a lot of homemade soups and stews, stir fries are good. Boy you really hit the nail on the head when you were talking about how certain foods can trigger cravings. I figured that out real quick. For example I reserve Sundays for a potential cheat day but I very rarely take myself up on it because I just don't want to deal with consequences such as those and the many others you are aware of.
I worked with a Virta Health coach and found that my carb tolerance was only around 40g/day. My PCP at the time was so angry that I was in ketosis and told me he wanted me eating 20% carbs per day, despite my being pre-diabetic at the time. It was the last day he was my doc. I don't tell my new provider I follow keto. Now I just say I'm low carb. I think my new doc is ok with keto I just want to avoid the conversation about it
Your understanding of food, the body, and how they interact is amazing. I always recommend you videos to anyone who is struggling with food and health issues
It seems that you have mastered the timing, proper food digestion. I'm not even an expert, but you make more sense than all the experts I have listened to.
1st meal for me: 1 boiled egg (organic from local farm) 1/2 slice bacon, 1/2 grapefruit (used to be from my own tree, now from local growers) or 1/2 banana. I'm at my ideal weight now and exercise regularly (dancing 2-3 times a week & bike ride 6 miles 3 times a week), my wife & I are 66. Lunch & or dinner vary. We grow the vast majority of our own herbs & spices and I use home grown & ground cayenne on many dishes. Breakfast I use home grown & dried rosemary parsley garlic etc. on the eggs.
I can't believe no one has congratulated you on learning how to write backwards on the glass. That's a neat party trick! Thank you for all the great info. Just finishing up a 3 day water fast and feel great.
This was great! Kaiser will not do Fasting Insulin. I paid $50 to get mine done and it was 3. That is because I have been watching your videos for a couple of years. They tried to put me on statins and I found out how bad they are. You gave me the confidence to change my eating habits and change my life. I am 80 and in very good health because of you. I just wish I had known about this sooner. Thank you Thank you!
When I first started keto it was mind blowing how satisfying a piece of meat and a salad can be. You don't really need a starch or carbohydrate to feel full and satisfied
My breakfast is 4 eggs, fried mushrooms shitake + king oysters, feta cheese, parmegiano cheese, bacon, coffee. Can not eat vegetables and greens unfortunately, my stomach hates them. Garlic or onions promote bad inflammation in my stomach, heartburn and sort of allergic reactions. Carnivore diet works great.
Everyone is different but personally I consume carbs strategically. During a clean, muscle building bulk I incorporated them into my food plan. When I cut, the carbs are the first to be reduced and usually quite drastically. Protein is always high and fats are never too low.
You're the best Dr. Ekberg! I've had rough times in my life and had severe depression with pre-diabetic symptoms in the past. I began a keto diet when my dad died 5 years ago and it lifted a 10 year depression and gave me the best health and physical condition that I felt I would never have. You're part of that and more, you taught me how easy and delicious it could be, that it doesn't have to be boring. Your passion for health is contagious and I'm spreading it by recommending your channel to everyone who's opened up to change their diet and their health... It's been a while for me thought I'm due for a binge watch!😋
Yay! I was just telling my husband that I would like to see what you eat in a day! Your videos are so informative & I’ve learned a few things, you’re my fave internet doc! LOVE your sense of humor! ❤
I once met a guy that lost 80 pounds in 1 year (so he said). I asked “what’s the secret”? He answered: I eat only food cooked at home. No bread, no deserts, just soup and main course.
Landing on your channel was one of the best things that happened in 2022! The other one was starting the paragliding, so you know how huge of a life changer your channel is 🙂 ❤️ I'm so happy I've moved from 16:8 intermittent fasting to 21:3, stopped weighting my food and tracking macros, and got back to enjoying tasty fatty food (which is looked with surprised eyes by my men colleagues - you're not supposed to eat fat as a lady apparently 😂😂😂). Eating just dinner (which is sometimes breakfast food 🤪😋) and just having some nuts during the day, gave me more free TIME and the FREEDOM of being 0 dependent on food. I've observed carbs swell my body, especially my legs, but I was afraid of increasing the fats. I can't thank you enough for sharing all the information and doing this in a language that even an engineer can follow 🙏❤️
Dr. Ekber made me so hungery for healthy food! I so want the recipes in this video! I'm so glad your top 10 is 23, what a great amount of food varieties.
Pumpkin 🎃 seeds 💚 I like the part where you say stick to what is working for your goals; i.e, if your goal is loosing weight do what works for that goal. I’ve realized that not all healing/health advice is for those of us with significant weight to loose. I’ve been a sedentary office worker in a hospital for many years. I know I have to make choices that are a bit more restricted based on my need to get into a healthy range. Also, learning to manage stress is huge for my success.
i am carbohydrate intolerant and low carb/keto is not enough to compensate the high blood sugar production in the liver. but i developed one meal that addresses that by increasing the CCK, GLP-1, PYY which results in lower gluconeogenesis. 10g psyllium husk, 40g oat bran, 40g whey protein, a pinch of salt, water the important thing about this meal is the combination!
This is exactly what I was thinking about, thank God I found you on the World Wide Web. I watch your videos over and over and learn so much. One of the greatest teachers
Maximizing health and eating only healthy food has become my favorite game nowadays! The reward is well - health, which is OP! I unapologetically made it a part of my personality and non-stop grill to everyone's head to at least avoid seed oils. This legend is 58 years old and he looks like he never stopped peaking. Great influence! Thank you sir.
I can't do any veggies anymore, this is due to an incisional hernia but also I have found that my energy is more stable and I feel much better without them. My daily carbs are less than 20 and I eat only once a day. I can eat herbs and seasoning-type vegetables like an onion. I avoid sweets and since I'm a high-fat carnivore I've lost my cravings for carbs altogether.
I LOVE how you are not unrealistic in the lifestyle eating. Some of us still enjoy socialization with friends and sometimes that may involve drinking. We cannot be perfect all the time and do not deserve to beat ourselves up about certain things we drink or eat. Just don’t do it in excess. Thanks for all your info! I absolutely love it!!!❤
Healthy ppl can eat anything as soon as they keep the balance and don’t go too extreme… but for ppl who have chronic diseases might need to restrict something on their diets.
I struggle to eat less than 3 meals a day. But I've cut out all seed oils, processed food, refined sugar and I minimize carbs to 50-60 grams per day and I feel amazing. I have played around with it so much and this is what makes me feel at my best!
Romaine is great for hydration. I find that after a morning jog on a fasted-state, munching on a bunch slows down time for me so that I can listen to my body and decide whether or not I want breakfast. I also don’t think it kicks me out of ketosis (since the calories are so low) if I happen to be fasting.
My fasting insulin is 10 😱 my doctors never tested it. Although I'm a diabetic type 2 🙄 Now I do not carbohydrates at all. My fasting blood sugar is now 90 and very stable. I do the " Dr. Eckberg eating" and it works so well. No kravings anymore. Most of the time, I do one meal a day, and no hungers show up.😅
Bless you for your good work Dr. Ekberg! I found your most useful video of “10 Things to do first before you start Keto” (I may have the name wrong) helped me to set goals, especially the “how you are not going to fail” goal. I needed to learn about how the body works and to realize the harm that prescription drugs do to our natural, critical processes. I now take certain supplements, and use natural foods, green tea (with ginger, turmeric, mint, chamomile) to compensate or substitute, and now I actually feel a lot better and more energetic than I ever felt in my whole life! You are right, in that we need to take mini holidays, and enjoy food, but be aware of going on a real skid and losing ground that we worked so hard for. I still have not overcome Type 2 Diabetes completely, but lost a lot of weight and I definitely do not experience all the awful effects of it, unlike several members of my family. Instead, I really feel like starting something new, i.e. getting some education, (even though I am 68 this year and have some difficulty walking). I must give God glory, in that my prayer, and those of others, plus studies of the Scripture and following what they say have released me from some bondage that was holding me back. I definitely felt it release when I awoke one morning, at the end of December. May everyone be as happy and peaceful as I am. God’s Blessings from Canada to you and your family 🇨🇦
02:00 to *How to calculate how insuline resistant you are* _Key-Words : Bloodtest ; insuline tracker_ 19:50 : Cooking : I have to try his taboueh recipe, I'm à little sceptic.
My top foods are quite similar. What a coincidence! 🙂 For those who can't or don't want to consume coffee, then I presume tea is a great substitute. Also, I am fine avoiding all sweeteners. When I switched to low carb, I went from having a sweet tooth to enjoying the natural flavor of almost all real foods that I eat.
This is great video, thank you very much for sharing with us. ❤️ I'm 53 years old and in menopause, I'm on keto and intermittement fasting few years now (sometimes I rotate it with carnivore), and this keto-carnivore combination works best for me... Although, I prefer keto more because of fibers, some seeds and vegetables (it's better for my constipation). Please can you make some video about your weekly workout routine, too? Also, can you make video for us menopausal women, which way of eating is best for us, is it better for us to fast 16 hours daily - or less than 16, and etc? Thanks.
Yes, Dr Berg I too could benefit from a video for Menopausal women..and especially fasting. My functional med dr suggested I drop down from 18+ hours of Fasting to 15 at most. She said too much fasting interferes with my hormones, causing imbalance. I have trouble raising Progesterone even taking 200 mg most nights. I say most bc randomly, I will miss a dose on purpose once or twice a month to change things. I do the same with nutrients too. It seems more natural as nothing in nature is consistent 100%. Am I correct in this… I don’t know but a short pause seems good. I don’t know.
He recommends people going on leisurely walks and then do a few minutes of high intensity interval training (HIIT). That could be in a bike, going upstairs, swimming or just running/walking.
@@nataliajimenez1870 yes, I was doing HIITS for some time...but HIITS can rise cortisol too and don't suit me anymore. Now, in menopause, I'm doing slow pilates and ballet. Those suit me best now. I'm on keto 6 last years and I haven't got any belly fat or overweight, my only problem are hot flashes.
Thank You @gingervincent1969 so much for showing your appreciation and supporting the channel, and for helping me get the message of health out to the world. 🙏 🏆 😄
I eat most of these on your lists, so makes me subconsciously on a Keto diet, low sugar and low carbs and eating in those hours too which is intermittent fasting. So thumbs up to myself 😊 I'm 66, 5'3", weight 53kg, daily walk 35min.
Thank you, dr. Ekberg ! I love your videos, your explanations are so clear. I am from Romania and I found your channel in spring 2022. Since then I do IF 16:8 and I cut the carbs as much as I can. Happy new year 2023 !!
Just my opinion, alcohol of any type or any amount should not be allowed into the lifestyle just as we wouldn't accept only one cigarette per day. There is zero benefits to alcohol. I've noticed many of the LCHF docs will say limit dairy but one drink of whiskey per day is ok, which leads me to believe they leave room in their diet for doctors social drinking occasions.
Thank You @samueljella7218 so much for showing your appreciation and supporting the channel, and for helping me get the message of health out to the world. 🙏 🏆 😄
Wow, just started watching your videos and the keto diet last week. Down 4lbs, not even a week yet! This video helped me tremendously in putting my diet choices together! Will save this for sure for your suggestions.
You are correct Dr. Some of the doctor are not really know how to interprete and dont know what action to be taken. Really I have learned a lot from all your videos. Thank you
Dr Ekberg, I've been watching many of your videos in the past 2 years... we started our low carb diet a few years ago but it took a while to refine and adapt over time. Now my wife and I are eating pretty much like most of those meals you described in this video! Only difference is probably ours is skewed a little more with proteins especially for me as I'm invoolved with more strength training in calisthenics. Really glad to watch this video as it gave me a good guide as to whether we are or rather should I say close in eating right. I just havent worked up my mind to go that heavy into fats on a daily basis. But certainly shedding the "conventional" wisdom ingrained in the last few decades by dropping carbohydrates -- especially processed and starchy ones has been the best thing to happen health wise.
I am following you for 4 years now when i got a stroke. I got so much inspiration and infomation about human body which i believe could not get from any other source. Please accept my thanks for the informative videos!
I have tried every combination of diet to get consistent results. I found that eating carbs actually sparked weight loss....I use Brown Rice and white beans I buy dried and soak and try to avoid adding junk or at least as little junk as I can to add flavor.. to add change and variety I change up to evening salads....however the salads get large over time and I find myself hungry around 9pm.. yes I measure my intact to cups as 1/2 cup of brown rice with 1/2 cup of white beans adding some veggies
Thanks for the video Dr. Ekberg! I definitely enjoyed your example in what you eat, and have given me some good ideas. I sometimes plateau doing OMAD all the time, so will try to mix it up about. Thank you for putting so much effort into your videos! They really do make a difference, and you have brought me a long way with my knowledge of good health, and anticipate being in a high quality of life for years to come! Thank you, and have an awesome Friday!
I started keto in December. I'm amazed at the health issues that are improving. I didn't need to lose weight, I needed inflammation gone. My vision has gone from blurry with brain fog to cleared. Still experiencing the dawn effect with pre diabetes but feel so much better. What do we do if we think we may be losing too much weight/muscle? Does it level off?
This was great to watch. I definitely know I'm on the right track food wise. I also eat the majority of the things listed here, with the exception of yogurt. I ate that so much when I worked in-office that now that I work from home, I'm burnt out on it so I've abandoned that one a bit. The homemade pizza - I was THRILLED to see you mention making it with tortilla. That's exactly how I've always done mine because its light and gives me that same thin crust type effect without worrying about all the grease and calories loaded onto one if I were to order it. I use 95% veggies and will throw pepperoni on there periodically. Still better than ordering it carry out.
Wow I love this. I was a vegan and then a raw vegan for a while and then intuitively came back to eating like this. Low carb. Meat, vegetables, fruit, some nuts and seeds. If it didn’t come from an animal, a plant, or a tree I’ll pass. Thank you for this video. God bless everyone 🤍🥂
Hi, Dr. E. Really enjoyed this video. It was less scientific/technical and more personal. Loved the humor at the end. A few foods I enjoy that weren't mentioned: cucumber, almonds, sunflower seeds. Anything negative about them or are they just not your favorites? Thanks for your content.
Been on Keto & IF 28 months. I've found no negative consequences of testing flexibility, e.g., Keto ice cream as long as not satisfying cravings, nor from pizza (thank you for the recipe today), so seeing it in print, so to speak, really spells out how far we can go. The body needs to take a break from homeostasis and everyone's needs are different; unique not just to their own goals (e.g., weight loss vs weight gain vs muscle-building vs cellulite-reduction) but also to how their own body reacts. We thus owe it to ourselves to self-educate and Dr Ekberg helps us get to that level of knowledge.
I’m on day three of a fast currently trying to see how far I can go (I’m shooting for 30 days). Your videos are really helping me stay on my health goals because I feel like you cover a lot of bases in an objective manner, which most people on TH-cam and most books do not with the same breadth and depth. Edit: Stopped at 72ish hours.
On the subject of Yogurt. If you read “Super gut” by Dr William Davis you will see his method of fermentation ( 36 hours) is far better than any store product. I have bade several batches and notice a remarkable difference in my gut Heath and over all health. Of course I follow your videos and have improved my health dramatically. I am 75 this month and have never felt better. The Dr Davis yogurt is technically fermented dairy.
Thank you for this video!! It is very encouraging. Hopefully, once I reverse my IR, I can occasionally eat some of the foods I miss on Keto. I'm very seriously considering the carnivore diet for a month or so to see how I do.
Don't make the mistake of thinking you can return to "normal" after reaching your goal. The people who say that keto doesn't work try to reach a weight and then go right back to what got them fat to start with. A "new normal" is what is needed.
@@papadavewatson I have no plans to ever go back to eating the foods that were killing me. I feel so much better not eating all the sugar and carbs. Keto is a lifelong change for me.
Interesting video. I would limit the nightshades and processed meats like bacon and sausage. I would increase the variety of veg to include green beans, dark green leafies, broccolini, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, beets, leeks, and herbs
Thank you so much for this video. I do have a question. Absent from this list are beans and fermented foods (except yogurt). What do you think about beans? I thought there was a lot of great data to suggest they promote longevity? Are fermented foods really that important? Thanks for the great and informative content!
Great question, would love to hear the opinion on that too. From what I heard about beans, the way you prepare it is important. At first you should soak it overnight before preparation. Then there was some other thing but I don't remember and want to do a research on that. And for fermented foods, all I heard was they are all godly foods full of nutrients. So I'm surprised doctor is not mentioning that.
Dr. Ekberg, thanks so much for this comprehensive video. Love your approach and so helpful to confirm all the healthy foods I am already eating. Your work is so important to the wellbeing of humanity! Keep it up!
So many great ideas for tasty meals! I am quite overweight since I had a hysterectomy for cancer. The last 3 years have been tough. I am trying so hard to lose. I do intermittent fasting. I never eat processed food. It's a journey.
love the break down of your diet. I know you may not eat them everyday, but what are your thoughts on flaxseed and testosterone inhibition? I am a practicing PA and love the information you give out. thanks again.
Yes, combating mine with a (very difficult!) water fast to get back on track. This video was tough to watch (fooooood!). Added to that, my son's just had a bunch of Chinese delivered and it's currently wafting through the house! 😫 Strength!!! Willpower!!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I make my own cauliflower pizza 1 cup mozzarella 1 cup cauliflower pearls 1 egg Salt, Italian seasoning Spread on parchment paper or on a pizza stone 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes, then just turn off the oven and let it sit until it's golden brown. I spread it with tomato sauce and my veggies with some bacon. Then you just return it to the oven until the veggies are tender
I would love to know your thoughts on whether we should avoid the lectins in 'nightshade' vegetables such as peppers and tomatoes. I'm a little confused about the subject. Many thanks for your wonderful contributions to world health!
Tank’s for this video! It is very informative as always. I like also to watch you videos because you speak slowly et your prononciation is very very good. My first language is french. I start intermitent fasting 6 months a go and I lost 30 pounds and my blood test getsa lot better in all aspects! Tank’s

Can you tell us your weight, height and age ? I only ask because you don't look slim, but maybe it is all muscle ?
Bless you. And thank you for sharing. This could help others going through chemo. Best wishes.
Assalamualaikum.May Allah help you & congratulations on your recovery in advance 👍
I pray for your continued good progress and healing!
❤
Amazing, the benefits of prolonged fasting are underrated and wide ranging. Best wishes with your recovery!
Even if you can't IF and keto, just take sugar and fast/junk food out of the equation. 2 game changers right there.
100%. Just focusing on whole foods, no sugar will dramatically help most people
So true
During week you eat mostly real food and at weekend you can have whatever you like but in small ammounts.
i hope that can help me out. being south east asian in here it's so hard to go keto or even low carb. dairy and meats cost a lot
I think that will be about as far as I can go for now.
Fire that doctor !
I have noticed that doctors are really good at fixing broken bones, doing surgeries and diagnosing a condition. But they rarely focus on solving a chronic problem other than sending you home with some pill that will create another problem. In the end we have to take over our own health and learn how the body works and more important find what works for you.
You are right, many doctors out there are living in the cave never upgrade their knowledge.
Some doctors also get a kickback from the pharmaceutical if they prescribe certain pills. Try consuming turmeric for your joint pains.
EBV check 👍
1. Strip Steak
2. Bell Pepper
3. Mushroom
4. Full fat Greek Yogurt
5. Blackberries
6. Flaxseed
7. Avocado
8. Romaine
9. Cauliflower
10. Onion
This if I could have only ten foods.
Blackberry seeds are just not. Blueberries
Meat.
Salt.
Water.

I am down 100 pounds from this time last year and your videos have been the best source of information for me, teaching me how our bodies work with the food we eat. Thank you so much!!!

Mindy Pelz. Good luck, Happy New Year❤️💪🥳
Love this! ❤ You are an inspiration! I’m 64 and determined to lose weight this year!!
U can lose 15lbs in 2-3 weeks if u really want. cut out ALL PROCESSED FOODS AND SUGARS and cut down on your complex carbs if you eat a lot. that alone u will see a big improvement. Increase your servings of fruits and vegetables.
Great job
I've lost many pounds and didn't eliminate carbs.

Thank you!
23 out of 10 diet and nutrition experts agree with the content in this video.
Yumm! 😋
That's mine too, I just told my mom about that product 😮
I've always thought Top 10 Lists should exceed ten items whenever warranted. I'm glad I'm not alone.
I've even seen it at Trader Joe's,
Thank you @francesb6758. There are many gluten free versions and also Bragg's Aminos. Tamari tends to have more sugar. 😄
You are clearly very educated and I believe that you know what you are talking about added to the fact that you are not an MD that wants the whole population on meds is the reason I follow you.

Ekberg!
The fact that you were an Olympian makes it such an honor to watch your videos
Love Dr Ekberg and he’s even better on 2x speed. There’s so much content, and this helps to get through it.
Yours is the only nutrition channel I recommend to others. This video is going to help so many people, thank you.
I recommend Dr. Ekberg to everyone, all the time.
How do you know he's right
It seems that you have mastered the timing, proper food digestion.
Try ACV in water before/while eating - helped me massively. He has videos on it.
@@jackiedelvalle I tried. Did not help me at all.
It's been a while for me thought I'm due for a binge watch!😋
i enjoy your wisdom on eating and aging gracefully. i am proof of these teachings
Pumpkin 🎃 seeds 💚
I like the part where you say stick to what is working for your goals; i.e, if your goal is loosing weight do what works for that goal.
10g psyllium husk, 40g oat bran, 40g whey protein, a pinch of salt, water
the important thing about this meal is the combination!
This is exactly what I was thinking about, thank God I found you on the World Wide Web.
I watch your videos over and over and learn so much.
One of the greatest teachers
He’s awesome just like Dr ken Berry! Look him up as well
Maximizing health and eating only healthy food has become my favorite game nowadays! The reward is well - health, which is OP! I unapologetically made it a part of my personality and non-stop grill to everyone's head to at least avoid seed oils.
This legend is 58 years old and he looks like he never stopped peaking. Great influence! Thank you sir.
Totally love your personality in these videos. Also, I simply adore your videos- information, presentation, depth of knowledge.... love!
My fasting insulin is 10 😱
my doctors never tested it. Although I'm a diabetic type 2 🙄
Now I do not carbohydrates at all.

Dr Ekberg...you are amazing, bright and a hero helper ... AND you even made a joke about 'buttrub' !!!! What can this man not do???
She said too much fasting interferes with
my hormones, causing imbalance.
Very good info on menopausal women, food and fasting I found in works of dr.Elizabeth Bright and Dr Mindy Pelz
@@katarinamorvai4480 ok, thanks.
Thank you Dr Sten 😎👍🏻

Thanks!
I’m venting and letting it ALL out!! Love it. Thanks Dr.
Thanks!
Thank you so much Dr Ekberg. I love your channel it’s my favorite health channel 💕
Thank you @user-tx4qy4rp4m for letting me know. I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching.😄
"A little buttrub makes everything better."
That little quip made my morning, Sten. Thanks.
It was funny! 😂
Best video I have ever listened to that includes balance and customization
You sound so sane and even keeled. Lots of common sense. Often times the low carbers sound like religious zealots which is unworkable. Thanks.
Hi, Dr.
I love your sense of humor & you never even crack a smile when you include a zinger. Thank you for your videos; I have learned so very much.
Good luck with your quest Chad.

Would do same. Thanks and good luck!
He had beans with his fajitas
I really like this video. Its real, no extreme statements, pure value.
Good luck with your journey Deborah.
love the break down of your diet. I know you may not eat them everyday, but what are your thoughts on flaxseed and testosterone inhibition? I am a practicing PA and love the information you give out. thanks again.
You were in good humor on this day! You made me laugh several times! It was nice to see! 😅
The Christmas Carbohydrate Crave; feeling that!😋

Yes, combating mine with a (very difficult!) water fast to get back on track. This video was tough to watch (fooooood!). Added to that, my son's just had a bunch of Chinese delivered and it's currently wafting through the house! 😫 Strength!!! Willpower!!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I make my own cauliflower pizza
1 cup mozzarella
1 cup cauliflower pearls
1 egg
Salt, Italian seasoning
Spread on parchment paper or on a pizza stone 1/4 inch thick.
