Hi Dr Ekberg, thank you very much for your great info! In this video you mention the importance of fiber. There are some doctors though, like dr Boz, and carnivore TH-camrs who claim fiber is bad for you. Could you do a special video on pro's and con's of fiber?

Hi, I remembered from a previous video that you mentioned your daily caloric intake to be around 1600. Your macros in the current video set that at 2500 cal/day. Can you explain the difference? Because the macros do work... the more proteins you eat, the more fat you need to eat. I just can't imagine someone eating 2500 cal/day on OMAD...

In Jan 2020 I was diagnosed with stage 1 ovarian cancer and went through surgery and 4 rounds of chemo (carbo and taxol). At that time I was already doing a 24 hr fast one day a week, as well as doing LCHF, so for chemo days I would also fast. I had some pretty significant side effects (neuropathy, brain fog) but got through it and was clear for two and a half years. June 2022 I was found to have another mass that had adhered to my colon. It’s the nature of the beast, which is ovarian cancer! Surgery again and a different kind of chemo (carbo and doxil). This time I decided to do a three day fast around chemo because I was told that this chemo could cause hand and foot syndrome and heart problems. I would fast the day before, the day of, and the day after, with just electrolytes. I have had NO side effects whatsoever! It’s like I’m not even having chemo! Sure, three days is hard, but the payoff is incredible. And that first meal after fasting tastes soooo goood! I have my sixth and final round in February and I expect the same results. Thank you Dr Ekberg for being one of those that led me to this lifestyle. I’m not sure I would be here to enjoy my life without your guidance. God bless!
Update: My Feb chemo was supposed to be on the 1st but we had an ice storm and the doctor’s office shut down. They finally called me on the evening of the 4th to see if I could come in the next morning. Long story short, I was only able to fast for two days instead of three. Holy cow! What a difference! I had four days of misery with nausea, chills, night sweats, bone pain and back spasms. Three days is really the sweet spot for chemo. I got the results of my follow-up PET scan today and there is no sign of cancer. Yay! I’m off to Hawaii to celebrate!

At 54 I genuinely feel like a 35 year old. 50 pounds to go and I know I will make it. This holiday I ate way too much "junk" and packed on 10 pounds... lesson learned. Thankfully it was mostly water retention I think and I shed it in about a week... other things like sore joints lack of energy and motivation are a thing of the past. I have noticed that doctors are really good at fixing broken bones, doing surgeries and diagnosing a condition. But they rarely focus on solving a chronic problem other than sending you home with some pill that will create another problem. In the end we have to take over our own health and learn how the body works and more important find what works for you.

@CLAUDIA STEVENS, I wish you the best in your journey to better health💪I’m in my sixties and started intermittent fasting over two years ago. It was hard at the beginning because I’m a carb addict but two years later I’m doing great. When you fail and you will because these are eating patterns we are used to DON’T GIVE UP! Start by not saying how many pounds you want to loose. Just start doing it, slowly eliminate the harmful foods, oils etc. it’s absolutely great that you are walking because it is a must for your mental health too. If you want keep a food journal at the beginning.
After two years, my blood work is better than my younger years, my skin looks great for my age and not swollen and when people who hadn’t seen me for some time (Covid) say wow, don’t you eat anymore? That’s because my body was swollen/ bloated. My food is eggs, butter, bacon, olive oil, olives, goat feta cheese, beef, fish, some chicken🤢,spring mix, onions ,blueberries , homemade bread for my eggs, homemade chicken soup. Very simple menu. I stopped eating nuts(rarely) and other vegetables because they were bothering my gut( no gallbladder). This doctor is a great instructor so follow his videos. Another to check for ladies is Dr. Mindy Pelz. Good luck, Happy New Year❤️💪🥳

@@tjgrafiks he is in his 70!!! If he loses 15 lbs in 2 weeks his doctor will die of a heart attack. It really depends on his initial weight and remaining fitness. 1-2 lbs per week is more than enough. If his body is used to a lot of carbs, and you cut them out he will get sick. Never advise an elderly person to change his nutrition or exercise drastically in a short time. Their bodies need much longer to adapt. What do you expect him to do to get in an 800-1000kcal deficit if his expenditure is around 1200-1400kcal?? Run a 10k every single day for 3 weeks???

I am a lab rat. I am a heavy man. I am a HEAVY type 2 diabetic without any consequences. I am out of the normal trends. LOL I went in to the hospital 18 years ago for an infected cut. They decided to check my blood sugar... They freaked out! I was at 77 .. no consequences! That is why I have been studied so much! WHY NO consequences???? But it's now at a the point I can't deal with doctors and frankly they can't figure me out! All their usual theories don't work! Still I was obese and out of shape. I wasn't feeling 100%... So I decided to find the best diet for me. What diet did I need??? I extensively studied and learned alot about what you are talking about given that my case is so extreme. I tested on myself to find the best diet ! In the end, DR.Ekberg. I came out with the same conclusions as you. How you are eating is how I eat! I have been doing this for months.First 6 months was cleaning myself. Became fat adapted. Kinda deroxed myself. Last 12 months, I lost 65 lbs. 40lbs away from my ideal weight.
All I wanted to say is that This video is the best! It screams adapt to your needs! The video is dead on! My case should tell people to eat this way!

This if I could have only ten foods. Also need to have my full selection of spices (Paprika, Cayenne Pepper, Garlic Powder, Black Pepper, Italian seasoning as must haves). I am trying to figure out which of the 10 I would drop for eggs or canned herring. Also need EVVO and vinegar. It really is impossible to make a good diet out of just 10 items. I also use full fat cottage cheese in place of Greek Yogurt and some raspberries in place of the blackberries on occasion. I add sour cream to my salads, but I could do without it.

The other one was starting the paragliding, so you know how huge of a life changer your channel is 🙂 ❤️ I'm so happy I've moved from 16:8 intermittent fasting to 21:3, stopped weighting my food and tracking macros, and got back to enjoying tasty fatty food (which is looked with surprised eyes by my men colleagues - you're not supposed to eat fat as a lady apparently 😂😂😂). Eating just dinner (which is sometimes breakfast food 🤪😋) and just having some nuts during the day, gave me more free TIME and the FREEDOM of being 0 dependent on food. You're the best Dr. Ekberg! I've had rough times in my life and had severe depression with pre-diabetic symptoms in the past. I began a keto diet when my dad died 5 years ago and it lifted a 10 year depression and gave me the best health and physical condition that I felt I would never have. You're part of that and more, you taught me how easy and delicious it could be, that it doesn't have to be boring. Your passion for health is contagious and I'm spreading it by recommending your channel to everyone who's opened up to change their diet and their health... It's been a while for me thought I'm due for a binge watch!😋

Ya, I end up doing a lot of homemade soups and stews, stir fries are good. Boy you really hit the nail on the head when you were talking about how certain foods can trigger cravings. I figured that out real quick. For example I reserve Sundays for a potential cheat day but I very rarely take myself up on it because I just don't want to deal with consequences such as those and the many others you are aware of.

This is great video, thank you very much for sharing with us. ❤️ I'm 53 years old and in menopause, I'm on keto and intermittement fasting few years now (sometimes I rotate it with carnivore), and this keto-carnivore combination works best for me... Although, I prefer keto more because of fibers, some seeds and vegetables (it's better for my constipation). Please can you make some video about your weekly workout routine, too? Also, can you make video for us menopausal women, which way of eating is best for us, is it better for us to fast 16 hours daily - or less than 16, and etc? Thanks.

Yes, Dr Berg I too could benefit from a video for Menopausal women..and especially fasting. My functional med dr suggested I drop down from 18+ hours of Fasting to 15 at most. She said too much fasting interferes with
      my hormones, causing imbalance.
I have trouble raising Progesterone even taking 200 mg most nights. I say most bc randomly, I will miss a dose on purpose once or twice a month to change things. I do the same with nutrients too. It seems more natural as nothing in nature is consistent 100%. Am I correct in this… I don’t know but a short pause seems good. I don’t know.

Ty Dr. Ecberg. I loved this video. Nice to have a role model, especially when I'm doing keto/low carb on my own. And I like how u qualified everything. I'm low carb now, but currently reviewing my diet to cut out more carbs. Recommitted for 3 days now. My face looks slimmer already, my hair stopped falling out, candida reducing, sciatic nerve pain diminishing & back pain gone.
I'm a little sad because 10 years ago I was keto, but other people said my diet was unhealthy. So I went LFHC. What a disaster. Keto results manifest strongly for me. So now I'm just going to run with it.

Bless you for your good work Dr. Ekberg! I found your most useful video of “10 Things to do first before you start Keto” (I may have the name wrong) helped me to set goals, especially the “how you are not going to fail” goal. I needed to learn about how the body works and to realize the harm that prescription drugs do to our natural, critical processes. I now take certain supplements, and use natural foods, green tea (with ginger, turmeric, mint, chamomile) to compensate or substitute, and now I actually feel a lot better and more energetic than I ever felt in my whole life! You are right, in that we need to take mini holidays, and enjoy food, but be aware of going on a real skid and losing ground that we worked so hard for. I still have not overcome Type 2 Diabetes completely, but lost a lot of weight and I definitely do not experience all the awful effects of it, unlike several members of my family. Instead, I really feel like starting something new, i.e. getting some education, (even though I am 68 this year and have some difficulty walking).
I must give God glory, in that my prayer, and those of others, plus studies of the Scripture and following what they say have released me from some bondage that was holding me back. I definitely felt it release when I awoke one morning, at the end of December. May everyone be as happy and peaceful as I am. God’s Blessings from Canada to you and your family 🇨🇦

My current schedule is that I eat breakfast late in the morning on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, and I have dinner every day around 6-7PM. I've been starting to move toward longer fasts. I successfully undertook 48-hour fasts in May and June and did my first 72-hour fast in July. I'm going to do another 72-hour fast next week, eventually intending a five-day fast next January. So far, I'm down from a high of 235 pounds to under 205. Question reg. potatoes: I read, that it's better for the body to 1) boil potatoes 2) let them cool down 3) heat them again as you like it. The rationale is, that the cooling process changes the starch (=glucose). I've never heard that before, have any of you?? I ate it twice so far & felt great the next day. Though the whole meal was close to ideal: fish, home made garlic sauce, Greek salad & oven potatoes. The potato texture was a tiny bit different, more doughy . The medical reason behind for me is high blood pressure, which I developed as side effect of medication.
Tipp: If you have blood pressure spikes too: betroot juice works wonders for me. It's a temporary effect of ca. 12-24 hours and takes maybe an hour to kick in. I borrowed a basic smart watch that measures vitals very 30 min & shows statistics in an app. I love it

Now my wife and I are eating pretty much like most of those meals you described in this video! Only difference is probably ours is skewed a little more with proteins especially for me as I'm invoolved with more strength training in calisthenics. Really glad to watch this video as it gave me a good guide as to whether we are or rather should I say close in eating right. I just havent worked up my mind to go that heavy into fats on a daily basis. Thank you so much for this video. I do have a question. Absent from this list are beans and fermented foods (except yogurt). What do you think about beans? I thought there was a lot of great data to suggest they promote longevity? Are fermented foods really that important? Thanks for the great and informative content!

      @DaHellCZ ปีที่แล้ว +2

Great question, would love to hear the opinion on that too.
From what I heard about beans, the way you prepare it is important. At first you should soak it overnight before preparation. Then there was some other thing but I don't remember and want to do a research on that.
And for fermented foods, all I heard was they are all godly foods full of nutrients. So I'm surprised doctor is not mentioning that.

Been on Keto & IF 28 months. I've found no negative consequences of testing flexibility, e.g., Keto ice cream as long as not satisfying cravings, nor from pizza (thank you for the recipe today), so seeing it in print, so to speak, really spells out how far we can go. The body needs to take a break from homeostasis and everyone's needs are different; unique not just to their own goals (e.g., weight loss vs weight gain vs muscle-building vs cellulite-reduction) but also to how their own body reacts. We thus owe it to ourselves to self-educate and Dr Ekberg helps us get to that level of knowledge.

So many great ideas for tasty meals! I am quite overweight since I had a hysterectomy for cancer. The last 3 years have been tough. I am trying so hard to lose. I do intermittent fasting. I never eat processed food. It's a journey.

I would love to know your thoughts on whether we should avoid the lectins in 'nightshade' vegetables such as peppers and tomatoes. I'm a little confused about the subject. Many thanks for your wonderful contributions to world health!
