    I gave a lecture to my students on AI because I think its important for them to understand how it might impact their futures. I was in charge of a class of mostly Freshman in college. I'd say most of them were using ChatGPT to cheat on the assignments throughout the entire class. After explaining how AI is just a statistical model and an amazing human achievement, providing examples across all industries including many of the industries they were majoring in. I juxtaposed that with how, in the future as AI gets better, it will likely replace many of their jobs, so its in their best interest to learn to work with AI. Some students were really engaged, but unfortunately the vast majority of them ignored me completely. So I'm inclined to believe there will be a 'useless class' at some point.

      Seriously without AI you could write code to replace most management. With AI you could have it learn from the best most successful CEOs with clear instructions from the board of directors....for a one time cost and with no possibility of that AI stealing from you lol

      @@ThomasTomiczek You are saying an AI couldn't be programmed to know law? Or to be a lawyer? Or that the BoD couldn't handle legal matters or hire just someone like an educated fallguy?

      What?

    • @ThomasTomiczek
      @ThomasTomiczek 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@chocomalk Oh, see - that is someone with no clue talking. You can not train an AI in law without providing it with some serious access to databases. It must be able to look up CURRENT legal cases up to basically days - because it must check references whether i.e. they are disputed. So, you talk about something like NetLaw. But the core thing is that it is irrelevant - the LAW defines for many cases a QUALIFIED lawyer - in the US a member of the relevant BAR. Unless you have AI with personhood status, it CAN NOT fulfill many roles of a lawyer BY LAW. This is not a moment of TRAINING, it is a matter of LAW. I.e. I can assign a LAWYER as CEO as he can fullfill this role BY LAW and check the decisions of the AI that he is by contract supposed to follow, but the AI can not issue, legally, many elements and can not sign off i.e. on the correctness of business statement. Not a training matter - a LEGAL matter. Until AI have the standing of people in law, certain functions are not able to be replaced.
      Same with doctors. You can have an AI do a lot of the work of a doctor - but at the end, an AI can NOT hand out a prescription as this is a role that THE LAW reserves for a LICENSED doctor.
      And yes, I expect this to be undermined - but laws will fall way later than AI is ready.

    Yuval is not a predictor guru, he is a historian that looks at trends & past human behaviour, to warn us about potential negatives. He has mentioned many times that he hopes he is wrong, but considers it important to warn & identify vulnerabilities. His new book is for kids which offers them great tips for a positive future. Identifying human weaknesses is not a doomsday forecast.

      But the Lord is patient: not as some understand patience, but not willing that any should perish, but all come to repentance. Our God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. This is hard for many to grasp since we are used to viewing Jesus as an angry, hostile God who is ready to strike a lightning bolt down and crush everyone like grasshoppers. The day of judgement is coming eventually, but I believe the Lord will give us a reprieve to allow individuals to turn away from their wicked ways.
