    EAT Right and SAVE Time
    ---------------------------------------------------------
    RUN TO:
    1. Chopped celery in your fridge
    2. Drink water because it's good for you with zero calories and zero fat!
    3. Steamed baby carrots 🥰
TO EAT WHEN YOU ARE RUSHED & DIDN'T GET A CHANCE TO EAT BEFORE YOU WALKED THROUGH THE DOOR OF YOUR HOME.
    ---------------------------------------------------------
My objective for this channel is to share with others what I have learned over the last 30+ years about living and eating healthier. I share my knowledge with my small circle of friends all the time. I am not a doctor, nor do I hold any type of medical degree, but I believe that my tried experiences may help someone else.
For over 30 years I have used every diet imaginable to lose weight, but I confess that I am now at home using the vegan lifestyle. I want to share what I have learned about eating and enjoying food. And, since I am still learning how to be more consistent with this lifestyle, I have decided to eat more healthily, realizing the weight will come off eventually. Though I have not reached my goal weight, I know that sharing with other people in front of a camera with help me to stay on course.
I have, with the help of my husband of 37 years, raised 3 grown children. I will also share some cooking shortcuts as well as some natural formulas I have used and still use for everyday problems.

Diane, don't judge yourself too harshly. 😥 This journey of changing your eating habits isn't reached with one step but many. Recognize what you need to do and take a step toward that goal. You will reach it IF YOU DO NOT give up. Don't give up, ever. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off and continue onward. Okay? okay! 😉🥰

Berta Jay, You really motivate me! I do have celery in the fridge. Tomorrow morning the first thing I'm going to do is cut up the celery and have it ready when I'm hungry and ready to pop a cookie into my mouth. Thanks.

Berta Jay, I actually get the San Marzano minis at Wal- Mart grocery or at my local H-E-B market here in Texas. They are packaged in a little clear bag with a handle top. San Marzanos are superior in nutrient density and are the preferred tomato among Italian chefs and cooks because of their superior taste. Look for them where the other tomatoes are located in the produce section. If you love tomatoes, you will not be disappointed. Hope this helps. Oh, one other thing. They are not round like cherry or grape tomatoes, but rather elongated in shape, with a somewhat pointed end. Thanks BJ.

      @bertajay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks so much, Renee. I will surely look for them; thanks for the detailed description. I do love tomatoes. 🍅 I grew up on a small farm and I still love tomato sandwich made with vine-ripened tomatoes. Thanks, again. Great video, Berta. I think I'm already doing most of what you show today. [A] I'm a big fan of water & have a hard-sided Brita bottle next to me nearly everywhere. [B] I read somewhere that cooked carrots actually have more nutrients than raw. Now that doesn't seem right, but I think it IS true. I actually prefer cooked carrots to raw, although I do enjoy raw as well. [C] I keep celery handy too, as you show. Instead of eating potato chips - which I never buy anymore - I munch a handful of carrots or celery sticks. The crunchy-munchy factor of the vegetables really helps satisfy hunger, and you get to be proud of yourself when you're done because you ate healthy instead of junk. PS - nice stovetop steamer! I usually steam veggies in the microwave.

Berta Jay, I swear you are my sister from another mister! My stainless insulated tumbler is like my third arm. It is always filled with water and ice from my RO (reverse osmosis) system and never leaves my side. I've been doing this for over 25 yrs. Drinking water thru out the day really does help curb appetite and having prepared veggie snacks helps satisfy the desire for something crunchy. I like celery, cucumber sticks, baby carrots, red bell pepper slices and mini San Marzano tomatoes. They are sweet as sugar. Love your channel, BJ!

I have just learned something from you, Renee; I have not heard of San Marzano tomatoes. Where do you buy them? local grocery store or specialty shop? I really love tomatoes. @@bertajay, doggone it, I answered you here and hit the wrong key and lost it all. Yes, I could definitely stand to lose a good 15 pounds. My husband gets in quite late from work and I've taken to eating when he comes home, then shortly thereafter we go to bed. That'll pack on the pounds in short order! I'm trying to go in for more fresh salads and steamed veggies, so I very much appreciate your recipes. I'm a little concerned about getting the proper amount and balance of amino acids if I work my way off meats and poultry. Do you think I need a book like "Diet For A Small Planet?" Thanks in advance for all your great recipes and your answer to my question. God bless you and yours richly!

Advance prep is always a good thing I have found Berta. I raised 6 boys, so prep was necessary. Drinking water is a good thing too. It keeps me full feeling as well as hydrated. I've always drank lots of water because other drinks just make me thirstier. So it is just water for me 98% of the time. I drink at least 64 oz a day now, used to drink almost 3 gallons a day until a teacher at the school I worked at taught me that it wasn't good to drink that much water. I also love munching on celery and carrots. I don't steam my carrots though, unless I'm having them for supper. My dogs love carrots too, so I feed carrots to them as a treat. Love me some chic peas too! Do you ever toast your chic peas? If so will you do a video on toasting the chic peas? Your supper looks very good! Hugs, Brenda

The other reason to run to water is that we more often than not are thirsty not actually hungry & need to drink water- and yes! Good clean preferably filtered water. At the worst you’ll gets some good water in you while you’re making dinner. Celery IS great bc there’s lots of water in it as you’ve said in other vids abt many veggies.
Ppl on dialysis typically need to watch their fluid load & limit fluid intake. My husband has been on peritoneal dialysis & had no issues w/water gain but was on a (stupid) diuretic to prevent edema (extremity swelling). Now that he’s on hemodialysis he needs to be more careful & drink more water often caffeine drinks bc hemo can give you low blood pressure. Obviously if you have kidney disease you’ll be having monthly labs meeting w/a dialysis dietician to make sure you’re a-ok. So don’t self-diagnose but DO communicate well w/your team.

Thanks so much, Kate. Just little things I do to stay on track. How's the family? Have you guys gotten the chance to try the coconut bacon, yet? Let me know what you think when you do.
