  • Time for the Brembo BBK to go on the M3, these have been sitting here at HQ for awhile. These are 380mm kit from Brembo, I have 6 piston calipers in the front and 4 piston calipers in the rear. They looks amazing & as you would imagine, they stop amazingly well.

    Suspension work to me so satisfying. I’m doing ball joints, poly sway bar bushings, poly sway bar end links and new OE outer tie rods on Project Father & Son Mustang today. Brembos are on my radar along with slotted rotors and SS brake lines. My 19 year old son will be road racing this car so I want the best for him. Congrats on the M3 progress, doing the right parts.

  • @unclesnotknuckle1
    @unclesnotknuckle1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Those brakes are a diagonally split system. The circuits are LF/RR,RF/LR. You can't just bleed the fronts, then the rears. Follow the bleed procedure or you won't be enjoying a firm pedal like you could be. Looks great! Keep up the good work!

    • @MikeFigueira
      @MikeFigueira 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Erik Krauss I believe that to be true if I’d done all four corners and waited to bleed until the very end. In that case I’d have started from the right rear. To me and you can correct me if I am wrong here but if some one was simply doing a front big brake kit and leaving the rear stock they’d install the fronts and bleed the front only. I basically did a complete front install including bleed like it was an independent install to the rears. In the end we had a nice firm pedal and all new fluid.

    I've some critical pointers for people installing peformance brakes;
    All aluminum Brembo calipers have a low thread torque, normally around 60 _ftlb_ front and around 30 _ftlb_ rear *_EDIT or until the lock washer flattens._* The steel caliper bolts need to be grade *10+* and coated with only copper anti-seize if you reuse them after the factory zinc coating wears off.
    Steel and aluminum produce galvanic corrosion when exposed to an electrolyte like salt water, the bolts will fuse to the calipers without the zinc coating or copper anti-seize. If silver anti-seize is used it'll rapidly corrode and ruin the calipers.
    It's strongly recommend to buy a Motive Power Brake Bleeder with the billet master cylinder reservoir adapter since brake fluid corrodes plastics that aren't ABS. It'll make the job so much easier and make fluid flushes every year a breeze!
    Brake bleeding with dual bleeder calipers is best done with the inner bleeder first, then the outer bleeder. Then bleed the inner bleeder again while tapping on the caliper housing with a soft rag covered rubber mallet to assist air bubbles out, then repeat the same with the outer bleeder.
    Always remove the standing brake fluid from inside the bleeder nipples before capping it off because brake fluid is hydroscopic (pulls water from the atmosphere) and will rust the bleeder nipples, preventing later service.
    Brakes are very important, always treat them like it. Copper anti-seize is your best friend :]

      as long as the brake fluide is always topped off ,it should not be a problem doing the front´s and then the rear,but some times you need to drive a few days them do them all again, and ignition on other wise the abs is closed . on most german cars there are 6 hoses 2 front and 4 in the rear, 2 by the calibers and 2 from the body to the control arms.
