    Absolutely love the biscuits, they give an extra dimension to the face. I really enjoy how you have embraced the imperfections and made them a vital part of the whole piece.

    That gilding on the dark wood gives it a theatrical, supernatural look.

      Thank you Mark 😁👍 That exactly why we LOVE adding the gilding to all our work! It works so VERY well on most everything. Some bits it’s too much, but it’s what we do 😁😁😁👍

    Well, this was amazing to watch Dick, especially as we are now the very proud owners of this piece. It is absolutely gorgeous and the gold leaf gleams against the beautiful dark wood. It has been fascinating to see how it was made. 🥰

    Mike Waldt sent me over and I watched this one first. Excellent video in every way. Music is usually an irritating distraction, but you music selection and coordination with the visuals are both superb. Good commentary throughout. Oh, and I liked the woodturning part, too.

      Greetings Oregon and welcome. I know what you mean about music in videos and some more recent ones of mine don’t have any music or have it very quietly in the background. Hope you enjoy some more of what I’ve made and stick around 😃

    Another great job. Looks absolutely amazing. You did a fantastic job but the gilding just gave it more depth. Love the way you left it so thick on the sides. Don't worry I laughed at your jokes. Are you stirring me by showing the bog oak lol. Nothing like that over here, I'll just keep turning red gum lol. Cheers and thanks for sharing best Regards John 🇦🇺

    Hi Richard- I have a question and a comment.
    Q: is Laburnum wood poisonous?
    C: Love the bog oak and how you deal with the huge cracks. The vase is a winner.

    • @WoodWithD
      @WoodWithD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed Laburnum is poisonous ☠️
      Although severe reactions are quite uncommon, Laburnum contains the toxin cytisine. Taken in large quantities, cytisine can be fatal; however, in smaller quantities (such as those inhaled during woodworking operations), constitutional effects have been reported, such as nausea, vomiting, and headache.
      But I use a good dust mask 😷
      I’m very pleased you like it 😁😁😁👍

    • @gemofthewoods5802
      @gemofthewoods5802 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WoodWithD I'm really glad 😀 you have a good mask, otherwise there would be no more videos to watch...and no more Richard! 😞
      Maple might be a good substitute for a complimentary wood....without all the danger?

    Hello Dick, I've just discovered you recently and subscribed to your channel. Do you ever use hot melt glue?

    • @WoodWithD
      @WoodWithD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John, welcome along 😊
      Occasionally and I know a lot of people get on with it very well, but for certain things I’m not so keen and would rather wait 24 hours for the titebond to cure. Here’s one where I used hot glue as I was in a hurry: Bell Jar Base Woodturning out of Bog Oak
