Yup,these bikes rip ass man,hang on!!! Had an 85 yz80 as a kid. It was beat to death with no compression. I saved and saved and finally bought a wiseco piston and bored the cylinder. That bike was the best,just a real screamer! STILL hooked on mx to this very day at 43 yrs old. Thanks Ken for everything you do for this sport,we love it bigtime!!👍🇺🇸

Had 2 yz80s from early 80s and they are crazy fast. Both mine did have a little work and ran methyl benzine with Shell M castor oil

Sweet YZ 85 Yamaha ! That thing rips
Killer YZ, although I like the ones with the Blue Rims the Best. In my early 20's I had the exact same 1993 Yamaha YZ 250 that you had on this show, and that was one bad ass bike. I had purple grips on mine, with a purple handlebar pad. Lots of good memories on that bike.
I had a brand new 94 YZ80. No joke, that bike slept in my room at night 😂
6 speed 85 cc thing is really a rippa damn...took SR. for a quick trip around the town that is kaplan cycles...Jr Girl deff sold that 1 ...flew off the shelf...

I ride 500cc 2 strokes and honestly I’m more afraid of my buddys kids KX80 then I am my KX500. You just barely tap the throttle and it does a wheelie. I am sitting at 202 pounds and the KX80 scares me more then a 500cc 2 stroke

I ride a 1998 KX 500 and it’s loaded with power but I can easily control it. When I got on my friends kids KX80 it did a wheelie every time I shifted into a new gear

My first motorcycle was actually 1970 Honda CL175, I can tell that I used to get in trouble with the police, I also had a 1980 Suzuki GS450E, I used to have a 1982 Honda V45 Sabre, and currently have a 2016 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster Super Low. My Dad's first motorcycle was 1974 Kawasaki KE100.

At age 12 my best friend had a YZ80, while I had a YZ125 (I was/am tall). I was scared of his bike...the smaller the 2 stroke, the more explosive the power. Now at 35 I have a YZ250X, it’s fast but not scary!

You guys used Synthetic non-smoking oil. I miss the cloud of smoke they used to give. That Castrol R. was the best oil there was.
I had a 82' YZ80 first year liquid cooled.
I had the 81. Last air cooled. I remember the radiator up behind the front number plate on the 82 ......
Its stupid how fast these things are for their size. I still remember the first time I threw a leg over a cr85 absolutely shocking coming from the bigger bikes.

My first bike was a Yamaha 60 2-stroke from my grandfather I'm guessing early 60's carb was in the side case but ran awesome and I always wondered why the symbol looks like it does
The symbol is the forks of a motorcycle! They used that symbol for there motorcycles to tie in the beginning of the company which was pianos 🎹 so if you look at it closely it’s to look like a tuning fork for instruments ! To pay homage to both the music and motorcycle industry! I actually love it . Yamaha for life . I have an 1979 Gt 80 and a 2016 SR400! Great bikes

All these ungrateful kids who don’t ride what their parents buy them. If my parents bought me that I would have ridden that until the wheels fall off then put the wheels back on and keep on riding.
Doesn’t usually have anything to do with being ungrateful. Bikes aren’t for everyone. It’s does take some skill and talent to be a good rider. Parents buy their kids a bike and some kids just don’t like it. Not for them. Or they pop the clutch, whiskey throttle, and are scared to try ride it again. My first bike was a RM80 just like this. Pretty much brand new. Kid tried to ride it one time got scared and the bike set for several years until I bought it.

I love bikes, and looking at bikes, all bikes... but when there's a woman in the frame, these bikes just... vanish. 🤷♂️

3:00 "way faster than a four stroke". That's why I'll never ride a four stroke dirt bike. Two strokes rule! My vintage YZ465 kicks my buddy's new CRF 450 ass all day long, and my friend just cant figure it out.
