  • Range Hood Vent DIY
    Hi guys, this is part 2 of my kitchen update where I took off my over the stove microwave and built a hood. I styled it with vertical shiplap to go with my kitchen island. To finish the kitchen, I got the backsplash installed and I also added new glass cabinet doors.

    FINALLY!!! A DIY video that a regular person can do. Many videos with DIY in the title end up being a guy who owns every tool Home Depot sells, building $hit in their private 1200 square feet workshop.

    Did you ever have to consider making “access” to your kitchen hood cabinet? For electrical or metal duct connection? Did anyone ever bring that up to you? Thanks.

    • @TanDiego
      @TanDiego  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, yes I have considered it but I think with these built-in, if something is wrong with the unit, you probably have to take the whole thing out and put in a new one. If something goes wrong with mine, I plan to build a new one anyways, I want to change the shape and maybe do a plaster hood...

    Hey Tan, can you tell me how tall and deep the overall range hood is? Trying to create something similar and wanted to see how tall it should hang from ceiling

    • @TanDiego
      @TanDiego  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ya of course, my ceiling is 9ft tall, the hood is 33 inches above the stove, 23 inches deep and 38 inches tall. For function wise, I think it’s more important how high it is above the stove, you don’t want to go too high or it won’t suck the heat, good luck!

    In hindsight would you have moved the vent hole on the wall higher so it's easier to work with and go with the same diameter as your range outlet?
    Do you have a video on your outside vent install or was that done by an hvac guy?

    • @TanDiego
      @TanDiego  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, I would not move it because I would have to do dry wall work, I would kept it the same or have a fabricated connector. My house was new construction and that’s how it came with from the builder ☺️

      @jack91522 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TanDiego I was also reading up on the need for me up air if your hood does more than 400 cfm.

    • @TanDiego
      @TanDiego  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jack91522 what did it say? 👀 I have my hood for over a year now and no problems so far 🙂

    • @jack91522
      @jack91522 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tan Diego basically if you are pulling more air than available in the room. It will come from cracks in doors ,fireplace , garage, etc. The easiest thing to do is to open a window when you run your hood over 400cfm. If you don't have enough air supply, the hood won't be effective and you can also possibly move toxic fumes from the fireplace and garage. Videos shows people adding an extra vent for this air supply. A damper opens when it senses negative pressure.
