Glad I came back to the game. After not playing for almost 2 years so much has changed. These type of videos are what helps ppl get into end game content. You are a huge asset to the community. - Xray.
I like that you give so many choices and explain the differences. There have been some times when I have gone with the "Meta recommendation" and found that I just didn't like the mechanics the set required to take full advantage of it. I'd rather have fun doing a bit less DPS than make a chore of the game trying to max things out.
One question, due to hybridization, for Sorcerer, either stamina or magicka, does it matter if you use weapon or spell damage enchants on rings and neck? I have been checking your website for everyclass, and as example for templar you have a note saying that for Power of the Light and Purifying Light did not got fully hybridized. Just wondering if for sorcerer it does apply to any skill. Thanks in advance!
I am glad you also covered some special sets and also heavy attack sets. I love the heavy attack sets since they actually do very serious damage even though I am not doing much on my end, besides I don't have to worry about weaving either
My personal favorite solo "set and forget" is Mad Tinkerers for my Magsorc, Its just so much fun to watch that little pet come bowling out and knock all the mobs sky high, and its great for keeping stuff at range while soloing!
Awesome as always Skinny!! :) I really liked how you showed the effects of the sets.. really helpful... and SS tier for support got me haha!! :) Cheers..
Thanks for the video, makes a lot of sense. I've been struggling with staying in ESO due to not feeling I am progressing as much as I'd like and being a preferred solo player with oakensoul, it's been a bit rough. Now I know I'm not that far behind the trial sets and it's probably based a lot more on CP.
Great stuff as always. Was pretty surprised you decided to put aegis caller in B considering how good it is, but I do agree that recovery line hurts it.
Great video, i watch I like 3 times ! Thanks for the explanations. I feel like I can understand better the different proc of those sets and in which situation too utilized them
I Love how your Char is glenching fists the Background Like "Set's good!!! Ya hear me...oooorrr grrrr" xD The Fashionscrolls is strong too xD Thx, awesome Video again! 🌹🌹🤘😍
Skinny... your videos are amazing and you are my go to for all things pve. I would love to see you be more specific for 4man dungeon setups as this differs greatly from trials snd the dummy. Especially pugging vs structured 4 man. I pug alot so i cant always count on proper buffs or high skill. A chart for this and some setups and parses geared towards this specifically would help greatly. So i know what is realistic for these scenarios and goals to set for damage. As it is now every build video out there is geared towards trials. Some simple additions to your videos and website for 4man and pugging could help immensly. Keep up the good work! You da best.
Thanks for making this video. It's great to hear your thoughts on which situations a set is weak or strong. After watching this I'm now looking at your website as a reference to plan to outfit all my DPS.
I've spent a lot of time doing calculations on azure blight, and you can easily have three people running this if they are all doing a moderate amount of AOE damage overtime, and it will far out perform all the other five piece set bonuses even divided between three people due to the increased rate of explosions. The cut off for how many people should wear it is calculated based off the number of enemies with moderately High Health, but if you have six enemies two to three people wearing it will still be the most efficient.
Running Coral riptide and pillars of nirn together with selene on my Stamden. Works absolutly great. And the best thing is that its soooo easy to change it to a solo build. another monsterset with a really great bonus on first slot and Ring of pale order. Vateshran, Maelstrom are sooo much fun and dungeons like falkreath work great solo with that. totally love it.
Aegis Caller is A-tier for bossfights in my opinion (especially in a build with 1 mythic+full monsterset+frontbar S-set such as Siroria/Relequen/Worl), in which in my experience the set performance in a comparable fashion/level as Pillar of Nirn. One can use this set in a similar way as most use Pillar of Nirn, as backbar greatsword to proc it and have 4-piece on the frontbar. This set is a trade-off a bit less single target damage for significantly more aoe damage compared to Pillar of Nirn. This set procs typically instantly by stampede (+LA) (otherwise you can still use Carve/barbed trap/class-specific skills especially for longer fights where you have those dots constantly running). Unscaled single target DPS Nirn based one full duration: 372.45. Radius: 2.5m Unscaled single target DPS Aegis Caller based one full duration (even including downtime+1 second cooldown): 358.5. Radius: LARGER (>=6m). I prefer the 12 seconds cooldown over the 10 seconds cooldown when using it on the backbar with greatsword. I also expected the RNG to be an issue: it was not at all: la+stampede+bleed etc. has almost always an instant proc. So far, I have not noticed a time that Aegis Caller did not instant proc.
Thanks for this. Every time I come back to the game the meta is totally upset, it's friggin weird having to relearn stuff every time I come back Also from the looks of it, Mechanical Acuity is actually better now.
aegis caller can be used on command sort of if you are a nightblade, casting shadowy disgues before using any martial meelee skill[surprise attack sometimes best] you can forcably trigger this at the start of a combo or fight
also pairs well with rushing agony/dark convergence and the skill stampede/crit rush. imo if using it stampede, rushing agony set, and prior theric monster helm creates a strong aoe burn all together followed by brawler cleaves as spamable with a master 2hander
thanks a lot, this video what I was looking for, not a annoying “meta 124k dps” with the same gear on each class, waiting for monster sets and arena so much and separate video and f combination of those
Very insightful video., thanks for uploading! I'm curious why you didn't list Back-Alley Gourmand, maybe it's too similar to Order's Wrath? And how would you rate Warmaiden for magplar and magblade builds?
Thanks! This vid was recorded before the set was released. It is mentioned in the description and updated in that section of the website. War maiden in those scenarios is generally like a low b tier kinda set. Great for starting off but generally gets outclassed once you’ve picked up better options.
Fire 🔥 exactly what I was looking for! I’ve been trying to find something to replace blood moon on my one bar with oakensoul since they changed empower…guess pillar of nirn so I can just focus on heavy attacks and not have to think about the proc?

I still think Hearland's Conqueror is a very good set (being craftable and all) specifically for DK (was also good on Warden last patch, but haven't tested it yet this patch)
i have used plague break with rush of agony for a long long time now as my got aoe / trash set up....still love it. BIG con is that only one person can apply the dot tho so never should have more than 1 in a 4 man dung or 2-3 in big groups
Nothing satisfies me more than running elemental catalyst as a necro. In dungeons I actually run it with lokkestiz since most healers don't run Major Slayer buffs in 4-man content. Constantly getting 15% increase to crit damage for the group and 10% extra damage done while hitting 8k+ spell damage at 33k mag. I love my necro.
ESO is the only MMO I've ever played where most gear & skill rotations feel good. You don't have to be the "best" & still are able to perform well in all content. This game feels like it's trying to make it so all players can play how they want & be viable which is one of my favorite things about the game. I have no issues with meta chasers, but i think the idea of meta is a crutch in the 1st place because you are forced to play a certain way to be the "best" rather than having fun & being your best.
A few other sets I'd argue are A or B tier for specific builds: Swamp Raider - Stamina NB with all poison or disease skills and a bow. War Maiden - Magic NB with all magic morphs on the NB class skills. Innate Axiom - Any hybrid build using mainly class skills. Not as much damage, but the bonus includes healing skills, and it's craftable.
Tbf for PvE stamblade will be using merciless instead of relentless, S2W instead of power extraction and in dungeons/BRP/DSA soul harvest instead of incap so just no. Also, regarding magblade, no way is War maiden worth it over order's Wrath which is craftable and synergises much better with the class. In Innate axiom can be good on magblade front bar but the line of stam is a waste.
Just a quick note for the adventurous people making their own builds. A lot of the generalizations he makes are usually true but sometimes depending on how you are building including everything you are race the skills you're using what you spec into Etc, but depending on how you build it can be more beneficial to completely forgo the minor Slayer buff and take advantage of two unique five piece bonuses or multiple weapon piece bonuses Etc because they're aggregate effect on your build is greater than just making sure you have all of the basic stat Buffs that you can. But this is admittedly a much easier way to look at building in ESO and cause everybody to come out in a similar place.
Not sure if this might help anyone but Mad tinkerer (MT) might perform better than Pillar of Nirn (PN). In my PTS testing on a magplar using just the 5 piece set in isolation and isolating skills (so only using 1 skill at a time to test the effect of a set, for example spamming jabs only, no la or anything) and not using any CP, but I did include max mag at 64 points and the mag regen boon for resource sustain. On the dummy I found that MT out performed PN on repeated tests every single time (not to mention that PN is a small radius so if your tank doesn't tightly stack the adds then you do not hit many of them unlike with MT). I tested both of these sets multiple times and consistently got better results with MT than PN. I eventually fleshed out a full build for the Magplar and as a finished build also swapping between MT and PN, MT consistently had better results in the more dynamic build. It is also a Light Armor set so if you are looking for that instead of a Medium Armor set this might be a viable option with the same proc requirements as PN. Plus it gives an extra line of Crit chance instead of the Max Stamina of PN. It seems to hit harder than PN for me and is better at AOE even though the tool tip shows PN hits harder in its 2.5 Meter radius. I hope this information helps someone, maybe test it for your build on the PTS to see if it can give you better results. Happy Hunting.
Keep in mind that PN's damage is not only the DoT, but also the initial hit and damage from Hemorrhaging status effect. If it was like that then Flame Blossom would hit harder than MT due to high uptime of Burning. MT will be better for very short burst window on any encounter that dont have pullable adds, but sustained fights dots from Nirn will work better here in the long run. Tanks really HATE dds that stun adds that needs to be chained, like twins in MoL or frogs in RG, so there is always a call for sorcs to 'not press the monkey'.
Love this video, and honestly love that there's different sets for different situations. What would you suggest for vka hm? Siroria/pillar for cleave on first and second boss and rele/pillar for final boss is what I was thinking
I'm very surprised to not see Red Mountain on here. Been using it on my StamDK for years now, paired with Relequen. I've tried swapping it out with other sets like Briarheart, Tzovgins, Aegis Caller and others on this list and always do less DPS without it. Another thing to note is I've been telling people about Pillar of Nirn and how underrated it was for a long time. I stopped playing around Blackwood, and at that time nobody was talking bout Nirn except me lol. When I came back for High Isle, I saw it's blown up now and used in many builds. Red Mountain, people. Check it out!
That’s cause pillar of nirn couldn’t crit until update 32 so that’s when people started using it. It was okay before but certainly not one of the top options like it is now. Red mountain is a decent option but the dps is much lower than pillar of nirn.
I don't agree that coral and bahsei have become harder to manage since the hybridization. On the contrary you can now substitute many skills for skills of the other resource type and adjust your food so that you hit the sweet spot in resource return. Anyways, great video!
A random question. I have been trying out caluurions legacy for pve as a magdps and it did perform a bit better than i expected while parsing compared to the set i replaced it with which was orders wrath. What do you think of that set?
Order's wrath isn't the best for parsing on the dummy because you don't really need the crit dmg for the cap. Caluurion is outclassed by many other sets for pve dps though. I could see it maybe doing a little better than order's on the dummy though if your crit dmg was wasted there.
It is very easy to keep aegis caller up, as Stampede is a forced critical hit with a martial melee attack. Recasting it every 12 seconds would not be ideal, but you should always be able to proc it at the beginning of an add wave by initiating with stampede into cleave.
Thanks! Yep someone else clarified this too. I didn’t originally realize stampede counted a melee ability since it had a range on it. But I guess makes sense since it ends in melee
Hey new to Eso I’m playing a Stamden with Selenes Monster Set and Aegis Caller which Set could i pair with it for best? I don’t have any trial set or played trial
Could you do a version of this for unsub/no DLC for folks who don't have access to DLC/chapter instances? IE: Best budget build, best free to play sets?
i just farmed pillar of nirn but have no trial sets. every build guide seems to pair it in odd combinations with another trial set. i have the greatsword and daggers, so what other body set would be ok in the meantime?
It may be ok on sorcs with the new buff to daedric prey to increase pets by 45%. I haven’t looked at it in a while though as the base dmg from it is pretty low
@@skinnycheeks seems pretty good when i looked at it and seem to have a bit less damage from pillar. Tho, i am no parsing god. Gonna try it on my sorc tho
dumb question time: why isnt Lokkestiiz on the list? Such a nice set to front bar. Is it because War Machine and Master Architect can provide buff? Seems higher uptime on Lokkestiiz and i have full set of that, and 0 parts of War Machine because HoF isnt a pug trial.
How about Icy Congjurer set. Is it good for warden as B or A Tier? I'm thinking to pair the set with Bahsei Mania. I just don't know if it worth to have IC set. Could you test this set in the future for warden? what do you think?
I'm currently running a rele 5 piece with a pillar 5 piece and a Zaan monster set. StamDK. Do you think I should switch out pillar for one of the super ultimates to maximize DPS?
Azureblight vs PlagueBreak? I'v been using PlagueBreak as a good add clear in dungeon running with good success, but I haven't used Azureblight. Does it function similar? Could they be flat compared to each other?
Azure blight is easier to use in my opinion but it takes longer to trigger. It's more passive. While plague-break is quicker to trigger if you burst down the enemy but it has a bigger margin for error.
Just a brief Theory crafting note about Minor force. Minor force is not a buff that you need to be sure to bring to end game. If you are in a group optimized the same way the trial dummy is, you are only responsible to bring 30% critical damage done. If you are wearing orders wrath that is 8%. It basically completely cancels out minor Force which means it can be an exact replacement for Medusa as long as you find 2% more crit damage somewhere else like one piece of medium armor. I believe skinny cheeks said that number specifically in his video but the math is pretty easy to do when you add up Major Force, minor brittle and Elemental catalyst. The cap is 125, the base is 50 meaning you need 75. Those three Buffs together add up to 45 which means you only need 30 more. But it is true that a lot of the times minor Force is a very efficient way to get 10% extra if you aren't at cap yet.
I've heard Aegis Caller might be better than Pillar of Nirn for Sorc because the set effect is buffed by daedric prey. Do you know if this is accurate?
Is pillar of nirn the only non trial proc set that can compete with relequen? The website pairs nirn with rele or whorl or siroria on nearly every build. If you didnt have trial sets what you you use in place of rele and how bad would the dps loss be? Can you make a video like that im sure there are many many ppl who cant use any of the builds here, im lost man.
You can just pair what you want. I think you may be overthinking it a bit. If you read underneath the graphics as well I’ve usually listed alternatives.
@@skinnycheeks Yeah I think Im just lacking the game knowledge to know what substitutes best with what, ill get there. One more thing though, I noticed a lot of the builds have oakensoul gear setups but no ability bar setups like the warden has. Specifically the nightblade and templar, if you run the oakensoul what abilities are used, im sure you dont just use the front bar of the 2 bar builds show right? There must be important 5 that go together best.
@@joeleeman9886 yeah it’s just that update 35 changed up so much it was too many builds for me to make for a short patch. We are already almost getting the update 36 pts on Monday.
Thanks for watching! Hopefully this helps you navigate the DPS set landscape for Update 35! Had a lot of fun putting this one together.

One thing to note about azureblight reaper is that the dots from poisoned burning and hemorrhaging status effects do NOT count towards the explosion.
Another thing about azureblight is that flurry DOES count towards the set so each flurry use is 4 stacks towards the explosion.

Thank you for this. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks! And yeah that sounds solid. Siroria could probably work on all fights as well.
I have been wondering what set or skill puts a purple ring on the ground. Have been seeing it for several weeks now. Do you know what I mean? Thanks.
Elfbane & Burning Spellweave w/ Grundulf MS on a Magknight!
*Great Video* 👊🏻
Why doesn't anyone mention Spinners or the Lich sets?? I have both from a while back and back to play and seems like no one's using them anymore?
What would a good combo of craftable sets be for soloing base game vet dungeons?
I don't agree that coral and bahsei have become harder to manage since the hybridization. On the contrary you can now substitute many skills for skills of the other resource type and adjust your food so that you hit the sweet spot in resource return. Anyways, great video!
Yeah fair enough! Guess I should have said for “general use” not for those really maxing it by pre dumping resources.
@@skinnycheeks in my case i was not at the crit damage cap
@@noty2673 its easyyyy to be at max crit on , callurion is awesome though
You'll find that the better you get as a player the better results you'll get with stats over proc sets
Hi Sir,
what do you think for sorc. Can Storm Set + Blossom set and Oakensoul ring work well ? (heavy attack build)
What would be the best S+A sets (2 sets) for the most general situations? So which sets would be the best for the most number of situations?
Probably pillar and whorl unless you wanted to play the resource game with bahsei or coral
@@skinnycheeks Thanks. Love the channel!
Will you provide a monster set video as well?
So would I be stupid to try out grave inevitability and orders wrath... im currently using deadly and orders wrath with oakensoul
Skinny for the win!! 🏆 🏅
Could you do a version of this for unsub/no DLC for folks who don't have access to DLC/chapter instances? IE: Best budget build, best free to play sets?
I'm using dark-convergence set (5 pieces). I think it's a good one too. Does it have any cons for magica DPS? And is there any other set more usefull?
I have the bow for aegis caller. Using it on a range build, will that bring it up to A teir? I've noticed they've taken it out of the drops.
that doesn't really have an effect on the tier. but yeah if you check my u36 tier list on the website i've updated it for aegis in A-tier.
wa
what setup would you recommend to optimise damage as dps in 4 man conent or solo arenas?
Hey skinny what about aurrands thunder ? I heard that's pretty good
it's okay for short burst
i just farmed pillar of nirn but have no trial sets. every build guide seems to pair it in odd combinations with another trial set. i have the greatsword and daggers, so what other body set would be ok in the meantime?
Really any of the A-tier ones listed if you don’t have a trial set yet
Great Video! I find myself always checking your channel for the next one. When we gonna get a Magplar Parse? Lol
Thank you! Probably not this patch.
Quick question. How is the craftable set, morkuldin? Seems pretty good on paper, but i am not as well versed in dps as the other top end players
Seems higher uptime on Lokkestiiz and i have full set of that, and 0 parts of War Machine because HoF isnt a pug trial.
not a dumb question - yes, those sets you listed, plus roaring opportunist paired with jorvuld's is a very popular support option
I am so lost with every update cause I just wanna play and don't test sets snd stuff that much. With your help I can
How about Icy Congjurer set. Is it good for warden as B or A Tier? I'm thinking to pair the set with Bahsei Mania. I just don't know if it worth to have IC set. Could you test this set in the future for warden? what do you think?
Ah yeah I look at that one from time to time. Never actually used it in content. I need to try it out again at some point.
What happened to New Moon Acolyte?
what set u recommend for stams in vBRP?
I'm currently running a rele 5 piece with a pillar 5 piece and a Zaan monster set. StamDK. Do you think I should switch out pillar for one of the super ultimates to maximize DPS?
I think you should rewatch through the A-tier and S-tier and the summary. I think you may have missed a key part of that discussion.
@@skinnycheeks I didn't watch that part. Skipped straight to S. haha!
I will watch that part. Thanks!
Yeah azureblight won’t really proc if stuff dies super fast. They just function a bit different from each other
Dear Skinny, what is your most favorite set for stampler with oakensoul ? except relequin.
Deadly strike
do stamplars use radiant destruction now? or does that just apply to magplars?
Yes both.
Newbie here: Should I use these on my magsorc? He's all light armor. Should I blend in some mediums from these sets?
Idk that releq + kinra, slimecraw + oakensoul is still fun/solid for randoms too
What do you think about Siroria's and Deadly Strike as a combo for a magplar?
Very very good
What aegis caller, what would proc it on a sorc magicka dps ?
Same as any other build. It isn’t boosted by daedric prey
I've heard Aegis Caller might be better than Pillar of Nirn for Sorc because the set effect is buffed by daedric prey. Do you know if this is accurate?
it is not boosted by daedric prey, no. but it is a very good set none-the-less
@@skinnycheeks thank you!
