When Matt explained about not being able to buy gearbox parts from Nissan, this is what angers me about the way companies operate in the modern world, while every one of them demands to us "we need to save the planet". It tell us climate change and net zero is complete nonsense! Who in their right mind is gonna pay £30k or whatever stupid price for a new gearbox or indeed EV battery?! You might as well scrap the car, like Matt said, it's just a throw away item at that point! How is that "saving the planet" when items that are perfectly repairable are thrown way? It's not is it! All because greedy companies want to sell you sealed units or completely new items - which means more raw resources mined. Nissan could easily sell a single gearbox part for a few hundred quid, and keep cars on the road for longer, actually saving the planet. This sort of behaviour by car manufacturers is why I'm done buying new cars.

@@impy1980 Ignore likes of lonewolf, they simply aren't worth your time. With regards to your main comment though, I totally agree with your sentiment regarding how companies operate like this, however - in this case whilst I was watching the video I said to myself "now I understand why they don't sell it separate" and it's because of the level of technical expertise required to do this change, it is beyond your average Nissan garage to a "warrantable" level of QC. I know that Mat/Matt (who gives a f?) managed it and I'm sure it will be fine...but to have that guaranteed level of retail QC and guaranteed longevity you'd need to pay a lot more attention to finer details, including cleanliness, interference fit, etc, etc. IMO that's why they don't sell it as a part.
To be fair Nissan said from the very beginning that each transmission was matched to itself and you can’t part them together. And though people have, Nissan was building them and calibrating them as one precise unit.
Well no one buying these cars cares a great deal about saving the planet. You know what the adage for the kind of cars Mat has on this channel : if you have to ask how much they cost to run then you can't afford one (although you're paying for Mat to live in a big house and drive fast cars) In the main too the way the average owner of these cars drives the car is a lot of the reason they end up replacing parts or the whole car. Mat's channel is, after all premised on crashed cars - and they've often barely got back from the dealer before running into a lamppost with it. We've never replaced an engine or gearbox. Our current car is a 57 plate and hasn't had anything other than typical servicing stuff oil / filter / tyres at its yearly MoT service, and I think we did the cambelt at 10 years which was the most expensive thing. That's because we're pootling around in it to Tesco and back not redlining it, wheel spinning it, doing donuts or crashing it into a ditch.
I have to tell you, your videos are absolutely great! I really love your dad and the relationship you two have. I have literally watched every one I have found from start to finish. You are really good at this.

He does have one minus the Rashford Rolls and GTR. Sad to see that car go. It’s quick, “reasonably affordable” (Still a lot of money) go anywhere daily driver in the fleet.
When you drop subframes onto benches or whatever, I’ve found it helps to get some string and tie it to the ends of the studs on the chassis so when it hangs down you’ve got a visual reference to where the subframe needs to be.
Can someone from GB explain why so many brits, especially older gen, like Mat said, dislike British racing green? I love that colour, have to have it on a sports car one day.
Came to watch the fireworks at MP and saw a light on in your unit, managed to avoid the temptation to come and be a fanboy and say hi, but still proud of what you do.
Mat!! 17 year tech here, again! Lol. that info regarding crash sensors working on air pressure is true, but only applies to vehicles that have a regulator assembly bolted onto the inner door AND has a seal around the entire surface that mates to the door. As the door caves in during a crash, the sensor picks up the spike in air pressure and can deploy the airbag sooner than an acceleration based crash sensor. Doors that dont have a seal between the regulator assembly and the door itself wont be using air pressure based sensors.
Mat, when you put that bolt in on the undertray, you didnt put it in tight enough so basically its going to affect the aerodynamics of the engine and flood the gearbox with coolant.
The air pressure guy is probably the same guy that posted on another channel. They said police radar uses the vehicles RPMs to determine the vehicles speed.
@@brandonbishop5400 LOL How would knowing what gear the vehicle is in make any difference? A Prius in 4th gear at 3000 rpms, if they can get the high, isn't the same as Lamborghini Aventador in the same gear and rpms.

About the crash sensor, that's true. While in a accident there is a pressure build up inside the door while the door is being bent. Since the pressure is inside the door it's being sealed by the door card and seals like the clips. If there are no seals it could happen that the crash sensor does not recognize the crash properly or good enough.
Other people from other country should have access to that too, I am from Germany and i check every video of yours, and not just that I think you are really a great person. 👊🏽👍🏽

With regards the tie wrap query in the doors and crash sensors, I think they are referring to the differential pressure sensor. The air in the door will be compressed very quickly with a side impact creating a positive pressure compared to the surrounding air (regardless of altitude, windows open etc), a bit like squeezing an accordion. Even if completely sealed, the pressure will still increase regardless. If (and I don't fully know) it relies on a 'leak rate' ie when the air escapes, then again, I strongly doubt you blocking up a few tiny holes will have any effect. Air will most certainly escape from any other hole in the door (drain holes for instance). Great videos as usual and I'm looking forward to winning the GTR 😊😊
I mooed the other day after opening some jam. Now, every time I open the fridge and see the jam, I remember what day I opened it. Mooing has changed my life !!!!
Well done Matt & Dad for an entertaining video. Your are both very brave to carry out what you did with the Nissan gearbox. How on earth that woodern crate held all that weight i shall never know. But it has worked & fixed the problem you had with the car 😊😊
There are crash sensors in doors that measure a change in air pressure to detect a side impact on a car. That's why it's important to seal the cavity inside a door if working on it. Also, no one crash sensor (some exceptions) can set off an airbag in a car.
I had to have a look and even I was surprised. Yes, car crash sensors in doors work on air pressure to detect side impacts: How they work Side impact sensors in car doors measure the pressure changes that occur inside the door when the car is hit from the side. These sensors are located in the door cavity and continuously measure atmospheric pressure. When the door is crushed, the air pressure inside the door increases sharply.
From my experience as a mechanic specializing in GTR's and Nissans of all ranges. If you can help it, you really really shouldn't mix gear box casings. What can happen if you do is it can change the pressure in the inner door and.....

Trump just mentioned today aswell that hes going to defeat the hysteria climate hoax
Said it’s crazy there is no such thing. In a speech
That's because we're pootling around in it to Tesco and back not redlining it, wheel spinning it, doing donuts or crashing it into a ditch.
had a 32 and a 33 gtr.. loved them.. now just a dream.
I have to tell you, your videos are absolutely great! I really love your dad and the relationship you two have. I have literally watched every one I have found from start to finish. You are really good at this.
Sir MA I have discovered your channel about a year ago. bro I have learned so much since watching I love what you are putting out there continue do what you are doing it's all good.... am a fan all the way from Jamaica
Brilliant gearbox update. You and team are now fit to work on a Wankle.😅
Mat should do a full car collection video pls
I think he has one allready
Definitely need one for 2024!
He does have one minus the Rashford Rolls and GTR. Sad to see that car go. It’s quick, “reasonably affordable” (Still a lot of money) go anywhere daily driver in the fleet.
I see dad on your videos, I upvote and watch until the end! Tell your dad some random dude said hi from Nicaragua!
We all want at least 2 videos per week!!!! 🚨🚨😎
Absolutely!!!
🎉🎉
yeah but quality over quantity
More is always better
The guy still needs to live his life.
When you drop subframes onto benches or whatever, I’ve found it helps to get some string and tie it to the ends of the studs on the chassis so when it hangs down you’ve got a visual reference to where the subframe needs to be.
you have got to love how tony doesnt even have to look to know and he is properly funny, he's really showing off his knowledge with things like this
You three are pure comedy! Love it!
The cow was dying jokes was classic, as for Mat's facial expression 🤣
British racing green is beautiful plus it matches your Lamborghini. Love your videos man, keep it up and stay safe.
Pretty sure this was a test run for that colour as it was painted and would have been an exspensive mistake if not liked.
I love how close you are with your Dad! It must be awesome to work along side him and genuinely have a laugh haha.
For those who can't tell this is sarcasm, this is sarcasm... refer to 10 minutes in the video.
Yes, this is true. Mat needs to see this.
Could also make the side airbags blow due to pressure drop in the rear indicator lens. 🎉
wow, people think this makes sense hahaha
The air pressure guy is probably the same guy that posted on another channel. They said police radar uses the vehicles RPMs to determine the vehicles speed.
"Do you know why i pulled you over today? You did 5000RPM in a 2500RPM zone".
them wireless rpms 🤣
@@TheGamingNorwegian lmao
They are just having a laugh, but everyone took it seriously aha
@@brandonbishop5400 LOL How would knowing what gear the vehicle is in make any difference? A Prius in 4th gear at 3000 rpms, if they can get the high, isn't the same as Lamborghini Aventador in the same gear and rpms.
All the best for the GTR sale Mat.
Ticket purchased.
Glad to help finance your future videos which everyone enjoys 👍🏼
Matt, I love that we got a surprise pop-in from the C63 and that you still own it, can we get some more content, please.
Moment I saw the notification went right to it . I'm your biggest fan. All the way from south Africa.
big fan from South Africa n gtr 😍is fav car
You guys make it look so simple, always enjoy watching 👌🏻 entry purchased and now 6 days of praying to the car gods 🙏
aww i love it how you all work together and have a laugh at the same time love these videos
Toney’s laugh at 09:06 sounds like a witch…I love him 😂
Absolutely love these vids need more of them i need those wheels from your last main channel vid🤣 keep up the hard work it is shown in your work 👍👍
I maybe wrong but it sounded like it was slipping twice at high RPM at 38:34 and 38:48 at around 6000rpm sounded like a slip
Thought so too, deff sounds like slipping still
Yep, noticed the same. Most definitely still slipping.
It still slips u can hear it
Notice its Raining , it was wheel spinning
Had one and had the same issue, is very expensive to fix and it needs to be professionally fixed… no worries, it will raffle it for £700 k and all good… good luck to the new owner😅😅😅😅
Regards from Turkey. I have been watching your videos for years now. Just wanted to thank you for the content you have created.
Mat the work you and your dad has done should put professionals to shame really... I've only been subscribed to your channel a few months ago... I constantly check for new uploads, even though my notifications are on... You're an inspiration to many hopeful car enthusiasts like myself, and you've actually answered so many unasked questions i had when i tried DIY repairs... I'm from South Africa, and i would love to enter your competition...🎉😅😂😊
Never in a million years would I say BRG on a GTR would look mint. But it actually looks awesome as a colour.
The oldest memory of a car I have is a British Racing Green Mini that had a hole in the floor and my uncle could steal yes steal with a screwdriver 😂
38:30 it's still slipping when going to 4th
Computer says no
It would be slipping in all gears then. 2/4/6.
Are you the air pressure guy?
@@stefanpetrov8 I think what ur hearing is just him letting go of the gas
For sure still slipping. 38:48 you hear it clearly.
Never clicked this fast😂
Hi Matt
Just wanted to say a bigggg thanks for all your videos and hard work. You're team, your dad and everyone make this channel great.
I used to work on cars and bikes but having tbi not so much anymore. I miss this stuff so much and looking at you and you're team it brings me back, so thanks for that.
I love the gtr. It is my absolute dream car. Even if i had a million euros to spend I still would buy a gtr and trick it out. I think it is the best jdm out there. So sorry to here that i can not enter the competition being in the Netherlands.
I am looking forward every weak for a new video on you're channel. Keep up the good work mate.
Cheers
Mooooooowwww
I love your vids. I watch from the US weekly!! What an awesome experience for someone this close to Xmas
Was almost a minute late...scared me
20:07 Breaking DAD
lol came to make this comment you beat me lol - "i am the one that laughs"
11:24 I should call her
You should.
😂😂😂😂😂🫡
About the crash sensor, that's true. While in a accident there is a pressure build up inside the door while the door is being bent. Since the pressure is inside the door it's being sealed by the door card and seals like the clips. If there are no seals it could happen that the crash sensor does not recognize the crash properly or good enough.
Other people from other country should have access to that too,
I am from Germany and i check every video of yours, and not just that I think you are really a great person.
👊🏽👍🏽
Arrived within a minute to watch 😂😂😂😂
Lamborghini green. 🤣
South Africa 🇿🇦
Just read a few comments regarding pressure sensors and air bag sensors. pmsl. not laughed out loud for so long. Matt u and ur guys are legends. keep it up ,
So few dads look at their kids the way Tony does at you. Can tell he’s buzzing for you. Class!
Wish we could enter this competition in the States. Easily one of my fav cars and a stellar TH-cam channel. Love ya Matt and team!
Mat your killing it mate honestly probably have more knowledge then most these keyboard mechanics 😂 fully qualified panel beaters and spray painter and can honestly say youd probably show up the the shop i work at 😂
Favourite channel on TH-cam by far - love the regular uploads and love that you're always pushing the boundaries - 2 tickets bought for the GTR draw - fingers crossed! 😁
I'm sat here with a grin permanently on my face watching this I feel like I'm there and one of the boys.....I love Matt's main channel but I'm starting to think the second channel is my favourite!
Man whoever wins the car is lucky as hell!!❤
Great job Matt
I started watching your channel from 2022 at the end of the year, and I found myself no bored for watching your video, because you always bringing new car to come more on knowledge, and of course i did learn many thing from your video. So cool with every episode but specially with roll royce and ferrari.
Hope to see you visit Asia One day with a car.
Tony is an absolute legend, he definitely adds good laughs to vids ☺️
to boldly go where Nissan won't, great vid Mat!
The banter between you all is the best, Matt you and the crew make great content, i also think you should keep ripping on the 'mechanics' that are in comments!
Can we have some more merch drops please, this aussie needs some more to support the team!
Love the new sass when detailing the competition info :)
Absolute dream car! Love the GTR! Love your channel. Would love to have a day at the garage looking round learning like you have!
We would love these competitions to be for us in Australia too! Would definitely enter all your comps! Thx Matt for making that happen soon! Phil
BIG UP MATT what a guy and his dad and all the others keep up with the great work lad ❤
Mat shows us that we can do it to. love seeing this man win man
the sound of the r35 i do think rivals the r34 vspec 2 and even nismo r34, the gtr sound has just gotten better with time
Great catch up. You blokes are having too much fun making these clips. Great work keep them coming.
Yes, car crash sensors in doors work on air pressure to detect side impacts:
How they work
Side impact sensors in car doors measure the pressure changes that occur inside the door when the car is hit from the side. These sensors are located in the door cavity and continuously measure atmospheric pressure. When the door is crushed, the air pressure inside the door increases sharply.
