I have always been a huge Honda fan. They have always set the benchmark in durability in their machines. They are WAY more 20 plus year old Honda machines out there in good running condition than any other brand. To bad durability and reliability are now set aside for horsepower and speed. The market today just wants to go super fast for a while and then buy a new machine when the old one falls apart. For me ill take something that has a few less horsepower and will last forever instead of something with the most horsepower and have to buy a new one a few years down the line.
I bought the 700-4 4 months ago. It grows on me every day. There has not been one hill I couldn't make it up. I just pulled a 2000 pound rock across my yard the other day with no problems. Love this machine! I debated getting the Polaris for months. So glad I got the Honda. I sleep good at night.
Just bought the 700-4 last month and it’s a goat. Wet muddy hill, grade had me wondering if I was going to flip over backwards and the Honda climbed it up out of a muddy creek.I’m in love now. Its stock. It’s awesome.
I’ve got a 700-4 and I put a 72” plow on from cabela’s the first snow fall we had was about 10” of wet heavy snow and this machine plow it like a champ I tried too get it stuck and I couldn’t so I’ve been plowing all winter and this is the best investment I’ve made in a long time could they made better yes they can but love this unit . Thanks Bish
when was the last time you seen a 20 year old polaris quad in good shape? I had a fourtrax 300 out at the farm for 20 years and rode that thing into the ground. it never never ever hiccuped once. it wasn't locking diff or irs or power steering but it was a great reliable quad for a long long long time. thats why i would buy another honda. don't have to replace it in 5 years.
quinnmont I've got a fourtrax 300 and running the complete and utter dog crap out of it pushing it past it's limits and it starts right back up every time.
I had a 98 fourtrax 300 4x4. Drove it everywhere, in the creek, ditches. I don't think I ever changed the oil. I sold it for pocket change and deeply regret it ever since.
I'm sick & tired of fixing problems on my 2006 Yamaha Rhino, this week it was fixing exhaust pipe cracks. It's time for a Honda. I have a 2002 Honda Rubicon and NOTHING has ever broken or needed mods. Time to get a Honda SxS and ride all the time instead of fixing half the time.
Mark is well spoken and does a great job with this review. This review had some influence on my decision to purchase the Honda. The engine has just the right amount power and torque for me. If you want a racer you have to go to a Polaris or Can-Am. I opt for a comfortable, steady and reliable machine and the Pioneer delivers.
Todd McLean The power difference is very noticeable in the Teryx and the teryx isnt anything crazy. the rear diff on the pioneer is noisy, the front end bottoms out easy, the seats are neat how they fold out the bed but if you load, say fertilizer in the bed or even corn for deer hunting it clogs up the seat and and its not good for it. its loud at idle as well. physically the rear diff is very small, didnt seem like a heavy build. the teryx is absolutely a blast
Ryan Monroe Thanks. I like the Teryx very much, own a Kawasaki motorcycle too. What steered me away from the Teryx was price, a few thousand more than the Pioneer and size and width. The Pioneer fits my existing 5X10 trailer whereas I'd have to buy another trailer to move the Teryx around. The power is adequate for me but I see the point how others would like more. I'm just taking my family out for rides and doing a little work around the house. The Pioneer really shines in that perspective. Thanks again
@@RyanMonroe0910 you have to compare the Honda talon to the Teryx. For me it was the can am HD8 double cab the Polaris 570/1000 double cab or the pioneer 700-4.
Traded a new Ranger after 6 months for one of these. A hi/lo range would be nice but quite frankly I haven't found an instance when it would have made a difference in the real world (a testament to the usefulness of a torque converter?). After trade I couldn't think of a single thing the Ranger (specifically the 500 EFI special edition) could do better than the Honda. Like the reviewer said, there is something intangible about Honda quality. There is no one stat that make the machine shine, but all the little details sure add up. Now when will we see a sport SxS?
I just bought a Honda 700-4 and love it, it's definitely a Honda and works, operates and runs great. I gotta be honest, as compared to my ATV, this thing feels like a glorified golf cart because the seats are more like a bench and less like a bucket. I'd say this is a cross between a performance side-by-side and the Kawasaki mule, still, the kids LOVE it and the rear seats/bed versatility is the feature that made this decision easy. You can find a vehicle that seats 4 and has a bed, but the wheelbase is really long...this wheelbase is short & nimble and the choice in rear configuration is truly innovatively awesome. Beyond that it's a bit basic, no rear view or side view mirrors, no horn, only one setting for headlights (no high beams), the shifter (D N R) doesn't operate very smoothly, you have to fight with it a bit...but still this thing is a blast and I can't stop my kids from riding it all over the place. We bought it for the 10-acre avocado farm but the kids already want to hit the desert, forest and other trails. Three much fun (comes after two much fun) : )
I had a Can-Am commander 1000. It was a 2 person and awesome machine, I was looking into getting a Pioneer 1000 and wish I would have gotten one. I was on some nasty trails and had Pioneer 1000’s go by me without a problem while my Can-Am was on the sidelines trying to dry the belt. I also really like how the Pioneer can be automatic or manual transmission. I rode in a friend’s Pioneer and the ride and control was unbelievable. Overall just a great machine! The Can-Am would outrun the Pioneer, but the Pioneer had a lot more quality in its build and again the automotive transmission was the best part. I wish I would have gotten one instead of the Can-Am.
The honda big red has the same drivetrain and engine as the pioneer, so how does it perform better than before, besides the different look which i didn't mind the look of the big red and it was a lot bigger : )
Good review, and dirt trax admits that the Pioneer could benefit from more power. Seems to me that little 680cc single would be underpowered with 4 people and a full load of cargo. Honda needs to step up its game.
I have a 2017 Pioneer 700 4 Deluxe and love it. My only complaint is that they are a bitch to clean. Any suggestions out there to make the cleaning process a little easier?
I have a 2005 black 650 Rincon that has always worked great, I've been looking at the Maverick, Rzr, and this one for my next purchase. But I can't imagine this big machine with no power steering, that's absurd. Add power steering and I'll buy it in a heart beat Honda ! Otherwise Polaris or BRP will be getting my money.
All this needs is a low gear and little more power for snow and hauling. I am sure honda will change these features in couple years. Quality is what you get when you buy honda. Polaris? Honda will pull them out of the woods, polaris will just get there faster.
Polaris might be the "bar setter" but as a person buying their first one, I'd never buy a Polaris. They've got horrible reviews. Looks the the majority of people spend more time repairing and dealing with wretched customer service than riding. How on earth can you see the two guys riding up front and say "there's more than enough room for 3 people up front" Are you high?
pioneer beats out yamaha and kawi in work and play with the 4 seater but 2 seater fun yamaha and kawi win that for the price then artic cat then polaris for price quality and equipment but note your going from 11k 700cc machines to polaris 570 cc vs a 13k price tag on the treyx and 900s
+Broxty never had a problem with Yamahas, those Hondas that shift by themselves are just a joke, my uncle neighbor has one and he always complains when we ride up hills that it wants to shift up and runs out of power, don't gotta worry about even with a 450 rhino, plus when u put someone in the back it's way to cramed and uncomfortable and on the down side u can't haul nothing also its not very good at hauling fire wood, more less a utv for 50 year olds to ride around on there ranch and look at the horses, it's really can hold its ground in the utilitie or sport class, even in the utilitie/sport it don't have as much get up and go as a Wolverine or comander

This is probably the most non bias review of an off road machine I’ve ever watched. Thank you.

Thank you!
I have always been a huge Honda fan . I have a Honda 250 recon 2017
Brilliant review, I have just purchased a new Pioneer and I love it, way better than our old polaris ranger, WAY better...
BJHoldsworth why should I buy a pioneer over a Polaris
@@cade7458 It will last longer than a week.
jreed10291974 it didn’t last longer then a week sold it and bought a can am turbo😂

No doubt Kawasaki is a great product. What specially didn't you like about the Pioneer to trade it in?

Most comfortable side by side out there.

great review of the 2014 Honda Pioneer.
Im pretty sure I can beat a ranger when you are on the side of the road with a broken belt. I will drive by you on my honda because it is BULLETPROOF
I have a Honda big red, the thing is a tank. With 4x4 and AWD, it's unstoppable.
Liar. That machine is arguably the worst machine ever made.
Haha! Got me dying!! Calling me a "liar" 😂😂😂 I can't breathe!
Joshua French tank hahaha i think u never see a tank lol
I'm glad it doesn't have a belt, but it needs power steering and a low range as well as a twin cylinder option.
PS is absent to keep that price tag so low. It is an absolute steal.
it doesnt have low range??? :S

Is RZR better? Hell yes. BUT price point and reliability in a Honda is why I'll buy this.
This is the 3rd video review I've watched. Why can't they be quite for 3 seconds so we can actually hear the machine run?
I have a 2017 Pioneer 700 4 Deluxe and love it. My only complaint is that they are a bitch to clean. Any suggestions out there to make the cleaning process a little easier?
Needs tilt steering wheel and 2 inches more feet room for the floor area. And this would be the best.
We agree!
I’m 5’9 and its perfect. Build for short Japanese people.
TEST RIDE the new Honda pioneer 1000?!
Polaris sets the bar? That shouldnt be too hard...my buddy cant hardly give his away...
suzuki seriously needs a side x side. they are the only ones without one
I know it is a small fourwheeler but a small four whellers is GOOD for getting around small area's
I STARTED JUMPING WHEN I SAW THIS. I love honda but I do think the polaris ranger is better but Honda is getting closer.
I would take a can-am over a po-po or these Honda side by sides anyday
If its not Honda or Yamaha it is junk. Always has been always will be.

would this work as an everyday vehicle?
Yes.
Not having power steering is a huge bonus, less is more. Side by sides are getting to complicated for the original intent.
They have power steering on the 2019 deluxe models
I just bought a pioneer 500 and wouldn't trade for any rzr

honda needs a twin cylinder or v-twin.
Honda used to be the leader now Polaris is. Go USA!!!!!!!
***** no Americans build the best products in the world
rugby however Honda is Japanese they actually make them in the USA unlike Polaris 😂
They look like Polaris rangers
I love Honda but they are falling behind unfortunately
Eh, Can't beat the Ranger

What's all the helmets for? Why not just drive right? In fact,,, just like they WERE driving!!!!
No leg room at all and the design of the front seat doesn't allow for making up of new brackets to allow more room
I think Polaris is better
