  • The COP .357 is a 4-shot Derringer-type pistol chambered for .357 Magnum. The double-action weapon is about twice as wide, and substantially heavier than the typical .25 automatic pistol, though its relatively compact size and powerful cartridge made it an option for a defensive weapon or a police backup gun.

This thing is dangerous! I owned one and found marks on the bullet primers. Not good! And the rounds tumbled. They didn't go straight! Its well made! It originally sold for $200 dollars!

Most of the derringer-type pistols were like that. The intent behind them was to be a personal-defense weapon to be used at an arm's length. So it didn't matter if the rounds tumbled and weren't accurate since they were not meant to travel far anyway. They are considered collector's pieces these days more than functional firearms.

It's interesting that this gun comes to light forty some years after it was made. The damn things are dangerous. The firing pins in the one I owned left marks on the bullet primers. I never dropped it, but I did wonder if it would go off. I never found out. Some kids broke in and stole it plus some other guns. That pretty much ended my gun collecting.

Yea I owned one in the 1990’s. Well made but very inaccurate and it had a horrendous trigger pull. Felt like 10 pounds.

well it's a short range self defense weapon, it barely has a barrel so I'm not surprised it's inaccurate, I think the trigger pull is hard because of the intricate mechanism used to move the firing pin between barrels.
