I’m looking at all these times and I’m thinking, I really need to work on my barrels, I started riding western a little over a year ago and am doing barrels, I use my trainers horse who is really let’s just say relaxed, in a smaller arena our fastest time is 21.8 seconds. But I’m hoping to start my horse on barrels he’s got a bit more speed

I like barrel racing videos but sometimes they make me mad, I love the video no hate to u it’s just i don’t really like People who do barrel racing because when you whip them with ur crop the next day your horse will have a white or red line On whatever body part they used the crop on. Clair Wilderman mhm well what was the breed and age sometimes it depends on the breed and age because some horses are stronger and have stiffer skin so tell me the Breed and Age that might explain it
If they have a white line you’re hitting them waaaay too hard and you shouldn’t be on a horse. I use a crop because otherwise my horse tries to chuck me or she pays no attention, i lightly tap her and nothing happens. I can’t imagine how hard you’d have to hit them to create a mark
Hazel Miracle my Barrel horse was a rescue and I’ve never laid a whip on her. Her last owner didn’t know crap about horses so of course she got her as a 4yo🙄 and since she didn’t know anything about horses and the horse was really testy is was not a good mix. She also bucked when I swung a rope off her once so I’m assuming she did something with that to but idk. She’s really good now and is a pretty decent barrel horse. But I’d never lay a whip on her. I don’t see very many people whip there barrel horses these days so that’s a good thing! (Sorry if I have spelling errors I’m to lazy to go back and check lol)
Fact: spurring your horse hard a bunch doesn't make them go faster it actually makes them slower because they suck a breath in everytime you make contact with their side and they flinch too, making them slower. It's the same with whipping them
My life is barrel racing and my friends do not take riding as a sport they say “well all you do is sit on a horse and tell it to go” lol my friends can be stupid 😂🤣😂

My fastest time was like 25.019 or something. We cantered the cloverleaf and the horse i was riding decided she wanted to trot to the second barrel. Like. The SLOWEST trot. She barely cantered home 😂. This wasn’t at a rodeo or competition or anything, I had a friend time me.
Awesome. I wanna start riding western badly. But here's me just having this Spanish andalusian dressage horse. Love him tho, & so happy to have my own horse. But sometimes I wanna go to america to experience this. We don't have it in my country. I do love taking my horse to the forest and race, but I'm not allowed to cause he's too expensive. But i sometimes go on rides with friends we get horses from another ranch and they all ride western. We do race a bit in the forest. It's awesome. I wish I could actually ride western but i would never be able to convince my mum. She won't even let me ride my own horse bareback. Let out even try western. She'd say it would ruin my perfect dressage champion. Hate it.
