Given what know now about the outside world, it doesn't even make sense to me why Ymir would save Reiner and Bert, while also giving the Jaw Titan back to Marley on a silver platter. Yeah, yeah I already know the thematic and sentimental value of her sacrifice. It's trying to show that she is truly selfless at her core and repaying a debt she feels she owes. But when you look at it objectively, her actions just further endangered Historia and the rest of Paradis, while only benefitting the tyrannical government that persecuted and turned her into a pure titan in the first place. Ymir herself even acknowledges it was a boneheaded move on her part, but I don't think people really sit back and realize just how idiotic her decision ultimately was 😂

She basically lived her whole life as a puppet and then out of no where she’s given another chance the live her life but this came at the cost of a young boy (Marcel) dying. We see in the scene where Ymir sacrificed herself when the soldiers found her cult hideout that she is a truly selfless person at heart. So basically at that point in season 2 Ymir had two things on her mind. The first is that she loved Historia and wanted her to live a good life and seeing that Eren had the founder meant there was a good chance of this happening so her first problem was solved. Her second problem is that she most likely felt guilty about killing Reiner and bertholdt’s friend despite her cold exterior. In that moment after securing Historia’s future and living the life she always wanted in the walls she was content and wanted to return the favor back to Reiner and bertholdt for giving her a second chance.

I feel like what Pieck was lacking was a backstory, with a backstory she kinda becomes Levi tier, Levi is like an amazing character with his motivations and pain but he was kinda hidden to the rest of the story and was just made a weapon, i know he taught Eren a valuable lesson but he shoulda done more and to others.

Not like i think he's a high tier character or anything but he has a line i really like which makes his addition to supporting paradise appropriate for the narrative and adding to the point that not every individual hates paradise. When he was asked why his skin was dark (which is why i think he chose a black man who drastically looks different from people on paradise) and he told the scouts that "It's because our creator had a thought that the world would be interesting with different types of people in it and that includes them as well even if they turn into monsters" The sentiment of making him black not only serves the narrative because of the ties to racism in the series, but that they have a right to exist as they are which supports the thrown away themes before 139. Not to mention he flies the plane which without a pilot they were fucked. That's too good a line to me, even if admittedly he doesn't add anything else. I would put him in C if you had it or B tier. Eren Kruger helped the alliance which doesn't make any sense, same for Grisha who despite telling Zeke to stop Eren and fighting with the alliance also gave Eren the attack titan immediately after talking to Zeke. Onyankapons role to the Story is BY NO means small, a black character showed the scouts that there are different people of all creeds and races. They met other ethnic people while in Marley who had a huge impact on them Onyankapons pilot experience helped them with the attack on Liberio as well as finding and fighting Eren. He genuinely cared for Eldians and their future as well as not euthanizing them despite the heavy anti Eldian propaganda in the World. Onyankapons character is not small at all, there’s almost no character in Attack on Titan whos role isnt important

Levi definitely is a great character, he’s a weapon character but hes one that takes orders, usually those characters follow their own rules, Levi has shown that not only is he powerful but hes emotional, he cares deeply for his subordinates and values human life. Levis advice to Eren is not wrong, when he trusted his comrades Squad Levi was killed by the female, when he trusted himself in the cavern he saved everyones lives with his hardening. They’re all in the same boat, Levi admits towards the end of 138 that there was a lot he left unsaid to Eren and wished it didn’t have to be this way.

I think Falco’s empathy and intelligence resonates a lot with people. He is basically the voice of reason from the Marley side that no reader truly hates - he definitely beats Armin in this role in the last arc.
No idea, he is vanilla as fuck, the manga doesn't go in depth as to why he is so empathetic either. He is a shallow character that doesn't have a personality that's easy to hate.

I think the reason why Grisha gave Eren the attack titan was because he found out that Carla died. He didn’t know what would happen to her when he was warning Zeke. Once young Eren tells him, Grisha realizes that everything he’s done has lead to the love of his life dying again. So he put Eren on the path of revenge. “Avenge your mother”.

You can say the same with Kruger, he tortured Eldians, and turned them into Titans all to convince Marley he’s on their side, but he even waited until Grisha was the last Eldian left before he revealed himself as the Owl.
On Reiner: by S4 he just was a broken person, so it makes sense for him to be depressed. But despite his wish to die, he forces himself to stay alive for the sake of his comrades. So, this is not a fair argument that takes away from his character imo. He should at least be an A character.
Jean should have been a Yeagerist, and one Alliance member should have been killed during the battle on the docks. I don’t count Magath because that was after the battle, and he killed himself.
I think there are 2 Reasons for Grisha giving Eren the attack titan. 1. deterministic world of AoT blabla just a theory that cannot be 100% confirmed though its likely that a future that was once perceived through the attack titan cannot be altered or changed. 2. reason he saw Erens memories we dont know to what extend and if he got every single memory from Erens past before the rumbling if he did it might be possible that Grisha knew that if Eren didnt get the attack titan he would die in the beginning of the series when he first awakened his attack titan. While Grisha didnt want the rumbling to happen Eren was still his son and Grisha loved him, he thought of him as special and wanted him to be free so he couldnt just let him die no matter how much trouble hed cause maybe he also had faith in Zeke to stop Eren but I think his main motive was the love he had for Eren. So Id personally put him in S-Tier while he doesnt agree with Erens ideals he still gave Eren the attack titan probably for no other reason then him loving his son even though it went against his own ideals and he didnt want Eren to inherit it and therefore cause the rumbling
Agree on Gabi being S tier. She was a poor kid that was brainwashed and paid the price for killing Sasha. She saw that she was horribly wrong and underwent a solid redemption arc. She actually learned her lesson in Paradis. Unlike Reiner and Annie who got away with even worse than she did. They never really understood what they did wrong and changed anything. That's why Gabi is a good character and they suck. Yeah Reiner has regret and all. He still did jacksit and kept fighting for the cause that he saw was wrong. F tier for Reiner along with Annie. And yeah, Zeke WAS S but... leaf. But the worst is Eren of course. From the top of S to the bottom of F in a single chapter. Why did you do that to our boy, yams.

In relative terms, a bit. What he's doing is actually smart counter programming. With the plethora of AOT reactors that reacts for views and just ride the hype, someone has to be critical. Also, with the anime catching up with the worst arc, there are fans who would be disappointed and will find some videos that reflect their opinions, and his videos are perfect for that.
If you had a D and C tier you could have a more accurate tier list. Because to me it is not consistent that you put Historia in A considering her overall character through the whole story but Jean an F for simply joining the alliance. Historia's character was butchered just as much as Jean's not at Armin's level but pretty much the same. Jean was the only good character excluding Falco of the whole alliance in my opinion. If you had a D and C tier, C tier is usually the mid tier, you used the B tier as the mid tier all the characters you have placed in B tier would have belonged in C in a proper tier list, Jean and Historia could have been in B tier. Because after the time skip Historia doesn't really deserves A tier. But this is just my opinion.

He's also a Tybur who, as eldians themselves, intentionally betrayed their own kind. While they're in control over the Marley government, Eldians are held in concentration camps in their leftover neighborhoods. They are enslaved, forced to be used in war as suicide bombers and bait, and punished by getting turned into titans roaming around the island for years. The Tybur's don't care for the eldians at Marley, and they damn sure don't care about the eldians on paradis. With all that power, Willy could have easily made a peace treaty with Paradis or at least try to go in that approach of making peace, but no. instead, he declared war against a nation with a small army and no technological advancement. @@kory.j6561 agree, Willys entire character resolves him being a devout follower of king Fritz' ideology of pacifism and he did believe that whatever happened to Eldians was well deserved especially after the 2000 years of suffering others faced, he certainly did see the descendants of Fritz i.e Paradis as people who still didn't deserve to have better lives isolated from others especially after what their ancestors had done and that hatred which they feel being cast aside isn't something that he was going to let go off and will sacrifice any Eldians even innocent people to gain retribution of the fact the people of Paradis were born Eldians, Willy certainly deserves that S rank as he served the villian character well for fans to hate which is what a writer is meant to do in the first place but also make him sympathetic similar to Zeke who do have the fear of their own race yet the way they achieve their goals is something that makes them the antagonists of the story at that point in the story

I would say jean is the most self aware alliance member because the other members arent portrayed as self aware enough which i would say is a writing fault, but i believe jean's character was handled really well.

100% agreed. She flip flopped like 3 or 4 different times during the Clash of Titans arc. And ultimately, all Ymir did was allow Marley to get back 3 of their Titans, which lets them attack other nations even further, _including Paradis._ The same tyrannical government that persecuted and turned Ymir into a pure titan in the first place. It doesn't matter that she thinks Eren has an advantage with controlling other titans now, why give Marley any other possible advantages whatsoever? It don't really make sense. Grisha gave the Attack Titan to Eren because he saw Eren as the future Attack Titan. I know it sounds weird but the Attack Titan can see the future but cannot change it. So Grisha basically had to give it to Eren, there was no other way.
That's a stupid explanation. The only logical explanation is that Grisha sees the future of the rumbling, but didn't realize Karla died in Shiganshina, so when he finds out, he decided to forsake the world for what they did and sided with Eren, giving him the attack and founding titan.

It was said that Eren could not change the future he saw and he always had to be stopped before completing the rumbling. This however makes no sense because Eren could have easily won and completed the rumbling by not allowing his friends to turn into Titans. I feel like what Pieck was lacking was a backstory, with a backstory she kinda becomes Levi tier, Levi is like an amazing character with his motivations and pain but he was kinda hidden to the rest of the story and was just made a weapon, i know he taught Eren a valuable lesson but he shoulda done more and to others.

Not like i think he's a high tier character or anything but he has a line i really like which makes his addition to supporting paradise appropriate for the narrative and adding to the point that not every individual hates paradise.
When he was asked why his skin was dark (which is why i think he chose a black man who drastically looks different from people on paradise) and he told the scouts that "It's because our creator had a thought that the world would be interesting with different types of people in it and that includes them as well even if they turn into monsters" The sentiment of making him black not only serves the narrative because of the ties to racism in the series, but that they have a right to exist as they are which supports the thrown away themes before 139. Not to mention he flies the plane which without a pilot they were fucked.

He genuinely cared for Eldians and their future as well as not euthanizing them despite the heavy anti Eldian propaganda in the World. Onyankapons character is not small at all, there’s almost no character in Attack on Titan whos role isnt important

He’s disturbed after learning titans are really humans. He’s strong but everyone around him isnt and the saddest part of Levis character is he has to watch everyone close to him die. Levis advice to Eren is not wrong, when he trusted his comrades Squad Levi was killed by the female, when he trusted himself in the cavern he saved everyones lives with his hardening. Gotta pay attention bro.
What did he do post time skip. Him being the senior most member should’ve been more of a leadet. He always used to havean opinion on Erwin’s decisions, but now he hs none? And what Saint meant by him being hypocritical was in s4 p1, after the liberio attck, levi treated Eren with disgust even though levi told Eren in s1 that no choice is wrong. I think Falco’s empathy and intelligence resonates a lot with people. He is basically the voice of reason from the Marley side that no reader truly hates - he definitely beats Armin in this role in the last arc.
No idea, he is vanilla as fuck, the manga doesn't go in depth as to why he is so empathetic either. He is a shallow character that doesn't have a personality that's easy to hate.

I think the reason why Grisha gave Eren the attack titan was because he found out that Carla died. He didn’t know what would happen to her when he was warning Zeke. Once young Eren tells him, Grisha realizes that everything he’s done has lead to the love of his life dying again. So he put Eren on the path of revenge. “Avenge your mother”.

I think there are 2 Reasons for Grisha giving Eren the attack titan. 1. deterministic world of AoT blabla just a theory that cannot be 100% confirmed though its likely that a future that was once perceived through the attack titan cannot be altered or changed. 2. reason he saw Erens memories we dont know to what extend and if he got every single memory from Erens past before the rumbling if he did it might be possible that Grisha knew that if Eren didnt get the attack titan he would die in the beginning of the series when he first awakened his attack titan. While Grisha didnt want the rumbling to happen Eren was still his son and Grisha loved him, he thought of him as special and wanted him to be free so he couldnt just let him die no matter how much trouble hed cause maybe he also had faith in Zeke to stop Eren but I think his main motive was the love he had for Eren. So Id personally put him in S-Tier while he doesnt agree with Erens ideals he still gave Eren the attack titan probably for no other reason then him loving his son even though it went against his own ideals and he didnt want Eren to inherit it and therefore cause the rumbling

Agree on Gabi being S tier. She was a poor kid that was brainwashed and paid the price for killing Sasha. She saw that she was horribly wrong and underwent a solid redemption arc. She actually learned her lesson in Paradis. Unlike Reiner and Annie who got away with even worse than she did. They never really understood what they did wrong and changed anything. That's why Gabi is a good character and they suck. Yeah Reiner has regret and all. He still did jacksit and kept fighting for the cause that he saw was wrong. F tier for Reiner along with Annie.
And yeah, Zeke WAS S but... leaf. But the worst is Eren of course. From the top of S to the bottom of F in a single chapter. Why did you do that to our boy, yams.

If you had a D and C tier you could have a more accurate tier list. Because to me it is not consistent that you put Historia in A considering her overall character through the whole story but Jean an F for simply joining the alliance. Historia's character was butchered just as much as Jean's not at Armin's level but pretty much the same. Jean was the only good character excluding Falco of the whole alliance in my opinion. If you had a D and C tier, C tier is usually the mid tier, you used the B tier as the mid tier all the characters you have placed in B tier would have belonged in C in a proper tier list, Jean and Historia could have been in B tier. Because after the time skip Historia doesn't really deserves A tier. But this is just my opinion.

He's also a Tybur who, as eldians themselves, intentionally betrayed their own kind. While they're in control over the Marley government, Eldians are held in concentration camps in their leftover neighborhoods. They are enslaved, forced to be used in war as suicide bombers and bait, and punished by getting turned into titans roaming around the island for years. The Tybur's don't care for the eldians at Marley, and they damn sure don't care about the eldians on paradis. With all that power, Willy could have easily made a peace treaty with Paradis or at least try to go in that approach of making peace, but no. instead, he declared war against a nation with a small army and no technological advancement. I would say jean is the most self aware alliance member because the other members arent portrayed as self aware enough which i would say is a writing fault, but i believe jean's character was handled really well.

And ultimately, all Ymir did was allow Marley to get back 3 of their Titans, which lets them attack other nations even further, _including Paradis._ The same tyrannical government that persecuted and turned Ymir into a pure titan in the first place. It doesn't matter that she thinks Eren has an advantage with controlling other titans now, why give Marley any other possible advantages whatsoever? It don't really make sense.

Grisha gave the Attack Titan to Eren because he saw Eren as the future Attack Titan. I know it sounds weird but the Attack Titan can see the future but cannot change it. So Grisha basically had to give it to Eren, there was no other way.

Grisha is powerless and Eren getting his titan is unavoidable, yet there are many ways Grisha could not give it to him. Determinism in aot really disrupted the whole story and is a result of bad writing. Just like it was explained in the finale. It was said that Eren could not change the future he saw and he always had to be stopped before completing the rumbling. This however makes no sense because Eren could have easily won and completed the rumbling by not allowing his friends to turn into Titans. Determinism in this show just opens up a ton of questions, makes no sense and is never properly explained.

It's not about likability, but how good of character they were. Annie doesn't have character development and she didn't do anything that affects the plot

Her motive and ideal was always a drawback to her character. She was predictable. If there's a reason why the warriors lose, it's Annie and the 'plot'. She doesn't feel any pity for killing people, and all she did was only to meet her father. She suddenly loving her father before going to paradis is confusing too.
