@chorizoramen93 the original CotT was the last of the Ray Harryhausen movies. He was the master of stop motion animation and he brought so many fantastic creatures to life. 45 years later it is still a fun and iconic adventure.
Watching these movies, it felt like the gods were kid bullies that simply did not have anyone their own size to mess around with. The ending of the 2nd movie was just...sad.

A user perhaps, considering Medusa ultimately is a victim of the God's wrath, followed by this hero decapitating her and using her abilities but I just thought your comment was funny purely because him throwing her decapitated head off the cliff wasn't as bad as killing her.
I think it was because everything seemed to be collapsing around him. He would need both hands to find stable hand holds and rescue his love. It would also be counter productive if he accidently saw the Medusa head while trying to flee.
The remakes usually are that bad. Alexa Davalos (the Kraken's intended victim), is really the only good actor in this movie. She played Kira in the 3rd Riddick movie.
I love seeimg the medusa head be used in greek mythology. I prefer the actual story of Perseus turning the court to stone for tricking him. And saving the princess was just something he did on his way home.
Why? The both have different themes Godzilla is a commentary on the dangers of Atomic war and nuclear power, while the Kraken is an incarnation, a symbol of the Wrath of the Gods.
By the way medusa is not a villian you should all know that because she's. more beautiful than athena and due to athena insecurities she took advantage of the wrong poseidon did against medusa to punish her instead of punishing him instead

Imagine if it didn't just crumble in an instant. It would be some pretty awesome world building for a fantasy setting, a city overshadowed by the petrified form of a monster that an old hero of legend had defeated.
I'm happybthey got rid of the R2D2 Owl knock off, which was not needed in the original. It was a weird choice to make since the story is thousands of years old. Which is still studied in the classics to this day.
My issue with the remake is the change of villain from Thetis to Hades. There is much more of the internal Politics of the Olympian Gods in the original and it doesn't rely upon the Hollywood trope of Hades always being the villain.
This movie had so much potential, but fell short, it wasn't worth the hype, arms could have been better. The original was better, but this was the best scene out of the entire movie, it was right at the end😅
This Perseus looked so out of place with the shorn head. I don't think they had such precise hair trimming equipment back then. It just looked so dumb, just like the whole movie was bad. The original is way better. The only scene remotely good was the Medusa scene.
