Any GPU that will saturate 8x PCIe4 bus will be hopelessly CPU bottlenecked with either 8000 APU anyway. While there are some niche uses where that would be a factor, for most gaming it shouldn't make much difference.

I feel like when you build a PC like this, with cost being a 98% limitation. I feel like there is nothing wrong with a native 720p monitor when budget is such a huge factor. I sold my ps5 and went back to Ps3, (money struggles) and it took some getting used to, but is totally doable if your intent is to just game and have a good time. Now forking up the cash to get a higher resolution monitor for the sake of "future proofing" is not the worst idea. If you play at a resolution that can't divide equally into your screen, you'll get the blurry look. If you play at the resolution your screen is native too, even if it's 720p, your brain will get used to it, unless you are constantly going back and fourth from let's say a TV at 4k and then to your 720p capable PC. For me personally, I rather have smooth gameplay than a crisp image when we are still just talking about HD. 720p is still HD, just not as HD as 1080p, 1440p, 4k, 8k etc... It's all marketing at that point.

That extra $100 might be better spent on faster RAM if using an APU. Id hazard a guess you'd see more of an improvement in gaming performance than going from a ryzen 5 8600g to a r7 8700g. RAM bandwidth will be the main bottleneck, not the apu with 4800mt/s RAM. Dont know exact prices off the top of my head, but pretty sure that $100 would comfortably cover the difference between 4800mt/s RAM and 7200mt/s(or thereabouts)

Second is that a Ryzen 5600x and a RX 6500XT would have cost the same as the 8700g and given better performance on the cheaper AM4 platform.
Also no budget gamer is playing higher than 1080p ð
Bro....u did it... TAKING THE CASE OUT OF THE BOX...is unpacking not actually building it... u said BUILD. Means put it all together.....u smashed it
I would like to see a ryzen 4500 with a520 board and a real graphics card go up against what he had
thats what ur suppose to do, this build was really to just goof around with, not to be taken seriously
ok but an actual reasonably good budget pc would be
8600g
2x16gb ddr5
B650 mobo
1tb gen 4 ssd
seperate air cooler
750w psu
any case
this should be easily under 750 usd and will give amazing cpu performance, 32gb ram, fast ssd, headroom for psu, and 60 fps on most AAA games at 1080p lowest, with the ability to save up and upgrade to a high end gpu like a 7900gre
U could do so much better for 750.
linus standing in the corner laughingðð
Gotta love the budget case champ, Q300L. Been using mine for 5 years now and it's stuffed to the brim with parts that have no business being in a Q300L
a system with a ryzen 5 5500 and a rx 6600 would make a lot more sense.
Exactly! Also for the same/similar price I think. But way better performance with a viable upgrade path!
that pc would smoke this thing
You would be stuck with AM4 then
@@Katzelle3 you're acting like am4 is bad now because am5 came out. Am4 is still just as fast as it was before am5 came out... It's super viable! Especially with the 5700x3d being out now too. There is an upgrade path if you wanted to upgrade.
@@djbotello How often do you swap out the CPU on a motherboard?
Good I wish we had a Microcenter here.
Every time I see a Micro Center video, I check to see if there is one near me opening soon (Its not). Got 2 in my state and one is a 3 hour drive and the other is a 4 hour drive. I guess its nice to actually have a store in my state *shrug*
Worth mentioning that Microcenter has build bundles, which is the motherboard, ram, and cpu for a heck of a lot cheaper than individually.
Video idea: you and someone else compete to build a cheap pc(or whatever budget the video requires) but the catch is you donât get to pick your parts. Someone else for each gets to choose.
Watching documentary on Russia : Quiet
Austin: TODAY WE"RE HERE AND YOURE GOING TO SHIT YOUR PANTS.
Facebook market lowballing is my passion
This is the real comparison to a PS5, both all new at $500. Market is still borked.
Ryzen 5600 and amd 6600 would perform better and would be cheaper overall factoring in am4 board and ddr4
AM4 is last gen though
A new chip would force you to buy a new mb and ram later
@@Katzelle3 true, they donât say newest gen though, you can still get am4 brand new so? Itâs still supported and getting mew cpus as of last month
@@SkylineGamingStudios
No the 5800X3D is the clearly the swan song of AM4 and in three to five years or so when you decide to swap out the CPU you basically have to swap out half of the computer with it
@@Katzelle3 the 5700x3d was just released this year. I didnt say better, I said new. Again. Cheaper and better performing than the 8600g. But yes you can add a gpu to it later on and itd be better. I can give you price break downs if youd lioke
@@SkylineGamingStudios
It is more budget conscious to wait two years to buy one component than to wait three years and buy four
Value is more important overall than cost. Future upgrade potential is also one of the TOP considerations when build a new PC. I would've sacrificed A LOT for a minimal video card.
for gaming it doesnt really matter which gen atm for m.2 ssd, theres like 2 games that use direct storage and the vast majority of games dont use it atm...so getting a larger gen3 ssd is fine, 2-3yrs from now, maybe not so much, I drive 2x970 EVO Plus 1tb/ea for gaming only, no issues, my system loads in like 15sec usually so yeah...Dont overthink storage right now, just get as much space as possible, for content creation, productivity, moving files, etc, yes, faster is better...
ð imagine me, im still running all my games off of 3.5 Server Hard Drives
Hey Austin, another problem with the AMD 8000 series APUs is that you only get 8 PCI 4.0 lanes for the GPU, so a future upgrade will be quite limited.
Any GPU that will saturate 8x PCIe4 bus will be hopelessly CPU bottlenecked with either 8000 APU anyway. While there are some niche uses where that would be a factor, for most gaming it shouldn't make much difference.
Ryzen 5 3600 + rx6600 should be better. I paid around $500 for everything brand new. You get a dedicated gpu for $500
Always test the mb combo before installing.
At the PC store I worked at you could actually have it tested in front of you for free.
Quite a time saver!
a less good cpu and a gpu would probebly give you more performance

I dare you to use a budget intel card@@ChrisPBaconGaming
@@Meezaenzo I have and it worked just fine for the time. It definitely gives better performance than integrated graphics. I would obviously recommend a 6000 series AMD over intel all day, but if you really are limited on your budget at the moment. Than an intel card would be more than okay until you decide to upgrade. There are hundreds of videos proving this same point. Go watch toasty bros, Linus, nerd on a budget, and so many more. Austin is just out of touch on what is practical. So good try trying to clap back, but Iâve been dealing with PCs for over 10 years and stay up to date on all spectrums. From budget second hand builds to $10,000+ custom new builds.
Austin using a LTT screwdriver is crazy
the verge would be proud
Maybe Ryzen 5500 (90âŽ) and a RX 6600 (200âŽ)? Pretty close in price (only 50⎠more than 8600G in my country), definitely much better performance
You forgot to factor in everything else
@@DrProfessorBello Well you can get a cheaper motherboard and RAM for the Ryzen 5500, so it's true that it's probably the same price or maybe even cheaper than a 8600G setup.
@@EragoEntertainment with the specs you mentioned in your original comment, a build with those components would be pretty cheap either way and a much better buy than the 8600g. What I mean was that it wouldn't be as close in terms of price (still close nonetheless), it's just that you need to factor in all the other components (ram, motherboard, psu, case, cooler, etc.), that's all.
I love 'older games' but you are comparing a modern pc to a PS3 so...
Nice, I just bought my most expensive one, it was $5300. That includes having microcenter build it and the 3 year warranty because I was paranoid on parts that expensive.
sounds like u have money eh? its 250 for them to build it. What did u exactly get? Did u use their 10% Microcenter Credit Card? that would have saved you 500 dollars rite there. ð
Still more powerful than a chromebook
A race pc build between Linus LTT and Austin would be dope, âĶ three pcs , budget pc, tiny case pc, then hard line cooling pc.
God, Micro Center looks like friggin tech geek heaven ðĨđ
You guys should make this into a challenge.. Next Linus should try the 10 minute challege
Dude how I wish we have stores like this in Canada
Legitimate questionâĶ why not get a ps5 and get 4K at 120hz?
sure why not ð
Austin: âI just uploaded this fresh new video.â
I beg to differ, Linus Sebastian accomplished that feat no more than a week ago.
The Q300L was such a good choice for a case. I have that case right now for my budget build.
i7 8700
GTX 970 (im broke)
16GB DDR4
512GB SSD storage (x2 256GB)
Q300L
That extra $100 might be better spent on faster RAM if using an APU. Id hazard a guess you'd see more of an improvement in gaming performance than going from a ryzen 5 8600g to a r7 8700g. RAM bandwidth will be the main bottleneck, not the apu with 4800mt/s RAM.
Dont know exact prices off the top of my head, but pretty sure that $100 would comfortably cover the difference between 4800mt/s RAM and 7200mt/s(or thereabouts)
ð agree but thats the problem, normally somebody building an integrated graphics PC is broke AF, normally u would buy the cheapest ram board power supply, so they would never ever have bought this thing if u told them 'bruh u gotta buy the fastest ram kit' , it makes the whole endeavor stupid. Its already been talked about on other channels. This is snake oil and very unfair to the broke people out there and the normies that have no idea that they are wasting money on a crippled system.
So I was going to go there this weekend to build a budget Fortnite pc with a 5600G. Should I get a diff cpu?
ð if u go there then stick to the motherboard combos or wait till they have the combo u really want, rite now they dont have amd budget combos, u would have to get the i5 combo
If i was doing this gaming build i would of opted for ChimeraOS which you could of seen a little more stable performance and the only downside is that you wont be able to play games like Fortnite but if the person was playing CS2 and maybe OW2 they might get more frames because of the Linux side of gaming and this is with the 8600G i am referring about.
Why does no body mention how strong this dude looks ð gotta have a insane sleeper build
Update on nice prices for mid 2024. RX 580 are 100-120$, Ryzen 5 5600 GT is a nice apu if needed-zen 3 architecture-am4 slot- am4 motherboards with 16 ram combo are common at
i mean, you could just do a registry edit, and turn off the watermark on windows.
Especially since itll update, and work just like normal (again) only downside to
"NOT" activating is that watermark, which is 100% capable of being hidden.
Bottleneck be damned, you can opt in for an RTX3060 for cheaper or an RX7600 or even an A770 and have a pretty good cheap build on your hands already. Pretty sure it's going to be a sub $800 build there for 1440p gaming. I'm open to corrections though so let me know if my line of thought here is flawed. (which I'm 100% certain is...)
1. don't use 1440p use either 1080p low or 900p high
2. apus NEED high speed memory especially on ddr5 6000mhz is the sweet spot on amd am5 for APUS and cpus and the performance will be MUCH higher
I am very disappointed of how out of touch this video really was for people wanting to put together a system with these new apus at least give it a fighting chance next time please
For those comparing this with linus's build:
1: Linus used second hand components(gpu)
2: he could obtain components from various sources(austin only has microcentre which doesn't necessarily have the cheapest possible price for the product)
3: linus's system is quite outdated while Austin's is new and fairly future proof
Was anyone else just WAITING for Austin to get careless and knock over the monitor?
im rocking the same case and its absolutely great for the money!
You should've bought a lower processor and added a mid tier video card.. even one from the 2nd hand market if you wanna do some gaming on a budget.
@AustinEvans
This was a great build, with one exception, no dGPU. You need one. APU's are not for gaming. They're just not. Even a used GTX1060 is better than that IGP.
I wish we had a Micro Center here in Maine

@@MrSamadolfo I know but I love walking through a store. I lived in Dallas for 18 years and loved walking through Fry's Electronics.

Depending on the setup

APUs have gotten a lot better in recent years but without a graphics card, you still wonât have a gaming PC no matter what (unless you only play old games).
Oh god I've built like 10 systems in that case and it's such a basic case does have some thermal issues but overall a decent value

I cant.
Re: 11 minutes is not 10 minutes.
The hell it isn't. It's 10 and another one! Expectations: Exceeded! Result: Success!
intel core i-3 (oldest you can get there), Nvidia Gtx (oldest you can get there), ram low speed 16 gigs that fits the motherboard (oldest you can get there), motherboard (oldest you can get that fits all of tiese parts), psu (oldest you can get with enough power), HDD (low space low speed, the HDD's are cheapest cry about it), cooler (cheapest that can cool your cpu), thermal paste (just get the cheapest one).
Ngl miss these videos. Prolly not going to build somthing that cheap but definitely good to get a base. Next intel budget build
The Radeon 780M is an surprisingly good APU to game, especially if you do not have too high settings enabled. I for myself am not in the 4k and so on games, i prefer "normal" settings and that is with the 780M definately no problem i think.
Uses a chip designed for 1080p gaming. Proceeds to be somehow surprised it sucks at 1440p. Jesus Austin
Quality per usual, answer the question: Is it better to spend? Budget? Watch and find out.
no one is playing on 1440p. I think this one can be redone and really highlight the power on 1080p and or upscaling from 1600x900 on a 1080p monitor. genuinely think it could have been done better and I think it would be worth to see.
For an extra $40 you could throw in a firepro w7000 and an extra $50 can get you a w7100. W7000 = 4gb vram and W7100 = 8gb vram
We now need the most expensive gaming pc build
Had the same issue with my newest build with the bios not being updated out of the box like the sticker on the box says.
ð its shady AF, and microcenter wont flash the board for free, they want 50 bucks, u end up going back to the store wasting ur time and getting a refund, then paying more money for a motherboard that works
You should do a build of the cheapest build for BG3 and games like hellblade 2. Like newer games. CS Go and fortnite are older games. I want to see something to play new games.
r5 4500 + some b520 + DDR4 + a RX 6600 would curbstomp this gaming wise and woul still be around the same total price (i can put one together sub $500 on pcpartpicker)
ð doesnt have to be 6600, u could go lower, looking at the microcenter store something like an Intel Arc A380, 1660 Super, RX 6500 XT, anything would be better than integrated graphics on a cpu
In Canada there is no way you can build a decent PC for $500usd.
But I ordered a decent MOBO 12,13,14th Gen Intel mobo from Ali express and a rx580 new, for a total of $259 cad, plus import fees probably 13% on top. And I ordered a 1tb m.2 nvme PCIe SSD and 16gb 3200mhz quality ram for $151 cad from Amazon Canada. Total cost $410 cad all in.
I have an older case and a brand new 750watt PSU with 4x PCIe 8 pin connectors I got from Delta Server Store as an apology for having wrong PSU info on the desktop I bought from them. Awesome place to get workstations and servers on the cheap.
Man, gone are the days of building a brand new entry level gaming machine for $300.
For $500-$600, you should ONLY be going with AM4. No, it's NOT a dead platform. You can build a system WITH a dedicated gpu and it will be more powerful than a PS5. You can go all the way up to a 5950x and AM4 is STILL being supported with software and hardware updates!
In the UK, that build would cost ÂĢ518.70 and that's without a dedicated graphic's card and RGB lighting ...
ð its not really a practical build, hes just being goofy
Simple answer is buying a prebuilt pc. Yes it may cost more but itâs less hassle. The HP victus is a good choice.
