I remember, back in the early 2000s, on the show "Pulse" on G4, they talked about all digital console called the Phantom. It was the console of my dreams. Now, i barely touch my Series S. Lol
The NEO GEO Arcade Cabinets ran on Beta Tapes and their games were the Creme Brûlée of the day.
i freaking remember wanting the panasonic jungle back in the day LMFAO it even made an appearance on rob dyrdeks fantasy factory on mtv!!

Dude... I had a ColecoVision ADAM computer when I was growing up and it stored games and applications on regular audio cassette tapes. So, I could totally see how that VHS gaming system could work, too.
It wasn't a system, but there were actual games on VHS. Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future was a TV show that debuted in 1987. There were toys you could buy like the Phantom Striker or the Powerjet XT-7 that could interact with the show or you could buy VHS cassettes and play that way. Such good memories🙂

I put so many hours into playing the Ballons games on the Ninja Kiwi site. No regrets
The Konix multi system was pretty advanced for the time. The hardware was made by the guys that created the Atari Jaguar. It was going to have a recoiling lightgun and a full on hydraulic gaming chair like a temu version of space harrier.
Jeff minter wrote a few games for it and it also had an impressive afterburner clone that got recoded and released as blue lightning on the Atari lynx.
Its main flaws were lack of memory and games that came on slow 3.5 disks. The chair also overheated and broke at a trade show.
It did eventually get released as a joystick for the PC (without the console bit obviously).
For anyone wondering, the Halcyon console conversion rate to todays money would be just under $6000 American freedom dollars
the remote control car didnt move b/c of radio signals. when left on, battery powered remote control cars move byitself to remind you to turn it off and save the battery
1. Not every remote control car is designed that way.
2. Most cases where this is true, it is far less often than what theirs was showcased doing.
3. Radio interference causing issues with controls with devices like RC cars has _long_ been documented and is even listed in the paperwork that comes with them as a potential issue
Funny radio signals story, my dad had a radio show a few years back and the station was at the top of a hill with million dollar mansions all around it. The people who routed the cables for a new construction did not use shielded cables for the entire house resulting in those cables getting every signal being put out my the radio station. I'm glad the Atari Box is an actual real console and not a scam like the Coleco Chameleon and Intellivision Amico.

I had a sega Neptune as a kid. It looked just like that, had the slot for cartridges as well as the disk tray. We only had some disks and not carts to say if that part functioned. But it was all one piece, not attachments

Im surprised the XGO isn't on this list. It was Kickstarter'd that was successful, but all the sudden, after its completion, was Suspended. Nobody know why it was suspended or if refunds were distributed, but it doesn't exist. Legitimately, it looks like something you get from one of those mall kiasks.

The Nuon came out, I have two of them. And the entire library, all eight games. I have the tendency to back oddball underdog consoles.
There was no Indrema console. It was an "everything but the kitchen sink" type machine, a PC in a console case running Linux and games were open source. But nobody was interested because of the massive hype for the PS2, so it went nowhere.
I can't believe the Indrema L600 wasn't mentioned. It was announced in 2000 and was supposed to be made of off the shelf PC parts and ran Linux. It was more than possible to make it, but it never happened.
I wanted a 32X in the 90s as a kid, Neptune or not, until I realized the 32X-specific game selection wasn't really my cup of tea, and then the PS1 came out.
You could also have added the razer switchblade. Not really a console, but it looked really nice

The Atari Cosmos would have had a grid of red LEDs that would light up underneath holograms. It wasn't mind-blowing technology. And all its games were built in, swappable only by changing out the hologram cartridge. It's things like this that ultimately killed Atari, they were spending tons of money on things like holographics, video phones, even things like heart defibrillators. They had somewhere between 120 to 180 buildings scattered across Silicon Valley doing all sorts of R&D, and not paying attention to how much money the company was taking in. They were losing something like $2 million a day on all the stuff they were working on, including designing, manufacturing, and then warehousing the Atari 7800 but not getting to the point of releasing it.
Everybody carries a piece of Atari in their pockets all across the world. The little holograms on credit cards and driver's licenses? Invented by Atari. Holograms used to be expensive and complicated to make, Atari wanted them for the Cosmos, figured out a new process to make them dirt cheap, and ultimately sold that division off after the game market crash. Now they're everywhere.

The 32X was a good idea with bad executions. Towards the end of their life span, both Genesis and SNES had games that were $90+. The 32X could help get the prices of those games down, but Sega dropped the ball.
How could you leave out the Infinium Labs Phantom? It was the Amico of the early 2000s.

You should have included the Phantom from Infinium Labs. They legally threatened a tech review /gaming news website, HardOCP over their investigations into the console and the people at Infinium Labs.
Kyle from HardOCP filed a counter lawsuit and Infinium Labs settled to get out of a lawsuit that was not going well for them.
One of the known early prototype units was destroyed by HardOCP at QuakeCon.
