Mid range is only a problem analytically for players that make less than 50% of them. Currently its a weak spot in defenses because they are guarding the 3 and paint. It's an unguardable area because you can drive or stop and pull up before they can get off the ground. The most unstoppable players have an elite midrange and solid post and triple threat footwork. Being able to score with a guy on you, knowing how to find a window and finish on controlled fadeaways, etc can be efficient if you practice them. Most players don't practice them so for them it IS a bad shot. A must have if you want to be versatile.
The custom workout from your web page is crazy. Took me almost 4 pages to copy down all the drills, even after simplifying. It's def goon abe worth it.
this may be picky, but he traveled at 1:56 if we pause the vid, the ball was in his right hand after his left foot lifted. He had the right foot as the pivot foot. :D
I just watched another of your videos showing that third move a few days ago. I practiced it yesterday and was killing with it today. I would either get a wide open shot or fake the pickup and get an open lane to the basket.
Mid range is my game!! Cause I mainly play the wings and good at creating my own shot whether I'm shooting mid range or driving in for a layup....since I'm 40 I do more of spotting up or a catch and dribble into a mid-range shot, but I can also hit spotup 3s too
That first step-back sidestep you showed is a travel. Have the rules changed? Left is the pivot, you have both hands on the ball. Then you step right, and slide the left foot over. Am I wrong?
I find myself shooting a lot of mid range these days. Defenses these days focus too much on the three and preventing the driving lane where i find myself in an island most of the time
People usually call it a travel because they think the pivot foot cannot leave the ground. That’s not a travel. It’s only a travel when the pivot foot leaves the ground, then lands back on the ground with the ball still in your hand
I used to do that last move all the time in middle school back in the day but stopped cuz they would call a carry most of the time which didn't make since cuz I never held the ball just changed my pace. hell how can a middleschooler even carry the ball with 1 hand without cupping it?
The second one is more of a float to the side or a skip while you are still dribbling the ball. Where the third one is more of a float off of contact to the side immediately into a pull up.
Why would anyone call the 3rd move a travel? People online rightfully call travel when a move like that results in a double step back/lateral which is a travel and is being uncalled with increasing frequency. We've given offensive players too much leeway with the rules which by one extension is unfair to players of previous generations who weren't allowed this leeway and 2, in a softer game it's another strike against perimeter defenders.
... he still uses 90s for an example of why mid range is important, because money ball theory was not invented... and Kawhi is an exceptional player...
Hey , This is a promise to my self that I will be in the NBA in 8 years! I’m currently 12! I want to be the first MVP from Alaska!
I’m from Alaska too
Get it young bull!
Isn't Mario Chalmers? Good luck though 💓👍🏽
Where in Alaska. I’m in Wasilla/Palmer area
Maile Wilcox where? I’m in Wasilla and Palmer area
I think i know what im doing but when a game starts i forget everything
Same
most of us do. but I feel that there's where muscle memory will take over that's why you need to train over and over again
I practiced tons of pull ups but ended up shooting high looping floaters over taller defenders
You only need to practice what you will do in games that's why everyone has different play styles like kobe said
@@hexsplays trae young has the same preference as you

DaveTheDev no short players can only shoot the three cuz they have no space to drive
@@Carl-dj6cs how does Chris Paul get to the mid range all the time... And Kyrie? Allen Iverson? Jamal Murray?
u can do ittt!!!
I love the mid range. Thank you for tips coach
1:19 Same foot stop
2:22 MJ skip
3:11 Bump off
4:09 full speed examples
Thank you so much
Thanks m8
This has really improved my midrange game so far. Still working on it tho!
David Dieobi bruh
I really like that Jordan shot. The last one I seen Dame Time use a lot ! Great examples !

IcedBaller _playz me
Nothing on youtube will get you to the nba. Might learn how to change a starter or an iphone screen but you wont learn to be micheal jordan
Estrada603 hey I’m trying my best to at least play in college. And I’m also blocking off haters like you.

@@PunchmadeDee for with God nothing shall be impossible luke 1.37 🙏
The Warriors did have KD who dominated from the midrange. And Steph and Klay have no problems pulling up from the midrange if the defense gives them.
Steph and Klay won a championship without KD, and it was mostly because of the three
@@fakedan6568 I mean Steph and Klays game just naturally avoids the midrange
Third move is also a great set up for the hesitation if there’s a pesky defender

Fantastic moves. All 3. Easy to add to the arsenal too. Nice
The first one you did literally any age can practice that as their base.. and go from there.. great drill man and the way you explained it was great
Love doing this in game feels so smooth utilize that Stop and go
Thanks for the tips coach
Is the mid range jumper the most effective move for a 5'7 point gaurd?.....if not what move would you recommend?
Yes it good just gotta have footwork to and u should try post gade pump fake
Floaters
may fav move the 3rd one cuz when I can't do a left handed finish with a defender i do the in&out to move out find a spot to shoot
That first step-back sidestep you showed is a travel. Have the rules changed? Left is the pivot, you have both hands on the ball. Then you step right, and slide the left foot over. Am I wrong?
depends on when u pick up the ball
I find myself shooting a lot of mid range these days. Defenses these days focus too much on the three and preventing the driving lane where i find myself in an island most of the time
Rip Kobe 💛
Elite 60% mid range shots match 40% three pointers. 50% twos are better than 30% threes. And when the game is on the line, you want the higher % shot.
mid range is the most important yet disregarded because today's era wants to shoot all threes and do fancy layups
I do all these moves already without realising it
im starting to feel elite lol
Thanks coach
Awesome . Thanks!
This channel is gold
I feel like in game #2 and #3 are so similar you could almost just pick the more comfortable one. From the defenses pov they look super similar.
i am 15 yrs old and will hard work this summer to play better!
0:45 you shouldnt try to go to mid range moves. Wasnt that Michael Jordans whole fadeaway package?
do you do retakes when your shot in fullspeed mode didnt sunk?
0:50 yup and a lot of people don't know that.
The place u did this in is right up the road from me that’s pretty cool
My biggest question for long is, is there any counter move for a side step jumper in case the defender closes out?
Thanks Kevin Love
1:32 classic travel which is usually never called but gives immense and unfair advantage to the attacking player
How is that even a travel?
Are you serious? Can you not see that his left foot is his pivot foot, but he lifts it up before bouncing the ball first. Not meant to do that.
As long as the ball leaves your hand before your pivot foot touches the ground, then yea, not a travel
People usually call it a travel because they think the pivot foot cannot leave the ground. That’s not a travel. It’s only a travel when the pivot foot leaves the ground, then lands back on the ground with the ball still in your hand
Plus for the most part the warriors were one the best midrange shooting team during 5 year run
I am a midrange shooter, since learning more from coach Drew Halen started shooting much better.
i do alot of the 3rd one but sometimes some pickups not allows it tho
question: is the bump off legal in fiba rules?
If u use shoulders only and dont extend arm it's legal anywhere
I used to do that last move all the time in middle school back in the day but stopped cuz they would call a carry most of the time which didn't make since cuz I never held the ball just changed my pace. hell how can a middleschooler even carry the ball with 1 hand without cupping it?

Decent moves to add to your game, but it's a bit of a stretch to call them 'unguardable'.
That's fair!
Im a 6’1 8th im very good in the paint but i want a good mid range tryna be like okc durant lmao
"Social Media Refs" love that!
Drew 💪💪
Carmelo Anthony one of the best midrange scorers of all time
Nah not all time but maybe one in the list
DiamondDogs nah dawg, of all time. He’s unguardable able from the midrange rn, imagine in his prime.
mid range is the goat
Wow
This is what i want to know
Thank you ~~
this man is carrying every second
thank you :)
I'm not doing really well with shooting, I'm more of a low post player but I think this could help me a lot.
no it cant, its three hesitations for guards
Nice
whats the diffrence between the last two pls

I could only do these moves when im panicking and i didn't even knew i did it
How come people don't step back from mid range very often?
People don’t know but in currys early career he was a mid range shooter, yes he was a deep kid range shooter but I guess that says sum
Skip was deadly by Mj
Second one is the best
I dont understand. Nothing about that 3rd move looked like a travel or carry to me??
I'm a triple machine trying to add mid range
it Dexton bhim, he got what he got, Bounce dunk possible for me , truthseeker
