    Very nicely done, even on the OpenPilot forums many have struggled with the yaw setup. Yours is a perfect example of proper troubleshooting where nothing should be assumed. In this case assuming that the problem was strictly based on settings.

    Thank you so much for this video. While watching the tricopter build video I was asking myself "how do I deal with the tail servo?". Then at the end of that video you mentioned the link to this video. I am still waiting for some components to complete my build but things seem fairly clear, even for this beginner. Thanks again.

    I have been running the cc3d on a small tricopter and had some of the same issues with the tail oscillating at first. I use a good savox digital servo and all props were balanced. The stock PIDs were way to to high so I turned them down and that seemed to eleviat the problem. Tricopters are multirotor unicorns! The firmware is not finely tuned for them, not that I'm complaining because I have no idea how to write code, much less for free. I will post my PIDs when I get a chance. Painless, mind sharing yours? just curious what worked for ya.

    One thing to bear in mind with this frame is that the servo may quickly move back and forth from the central position even while on the ground. I thought my servo was broken, but instead it is because the weight of the motor moving is causing the craft to yaw, setting up an oscillation. To stop it, you just have to hold the boom the motor is on and it should quickly calm down

  • @Igor-xl4wz

    Which digital servo did you end up using? Any specs to note when looking online for one? Additionally, do you have any 2018 recommendation updates for flight controller and software? I'm currently building a HJ-Y3 now. Thank you.

    Firstly, Thanks for the great videos I am learning a lot. Now, I got my hands on HJ Y3 tri-copter. It already had two B2212 - 920 KV motors. The tail motor was missing. I have some spare motors and is it ok to put the 2204/2300KV for the tail. Is this a miss match( for fun flying). What Props should I use for all 3 moors ( pops were missing). It's cc3d board running on Betalight. Regards, Dimi

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've only tried using different spec motor and props on a model once - I'll not do it again! 2212/920KV motors used to be used a lot with 9x4.3 and similar props (see the 10" endurance build as I'm using something similar)..

    hiya buddy I'm building the same tri as this video however I'm having trouble with the correct way to wire the cc3d for ppm with a d4r2 you show pins 123 for ppm on the cc3d but another video I was watching showed pins 1 and 2 used for pos and neg and pin 8 for signal any advise would be great cheers pete

      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    FWI: Just in case someone leaves their servo plugged in during FC setup and burns out a servo like I did, you might know that the replacement Tower Pro MG90S Micro servo, one which looks and is labeled/sized identical, the servo we might find on-line or, anywhere and purchase it as a replacement, well, it has a spline that does not fit the Tail assembly for the HJ-Y3. I suspect they made a special edition for the company who makes that HJ-Y3? I got lucky and had some 3D pros from HK, RC711.com. Just luck I had um.

    • @ehsankeshtgar6734
      @ehsankeshtgar6734 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Painless360 no , not possible. You can't have your motor run clockwise while it has counter clockwise prop. No matter if it's quad or tri copter.

  • @septik101

    Hello again, in your vid you stated that you tried to replace the servo for a digital one but you couldn't find one to fit! Well i brought a new mg90 as i damaged the original and found that the new one didn't fit , when i looked closer i noticed that the spline on the new one was also different, ha i suppose thats because they want us to rebye the whole tail system and not just the servo! Any way im not putting up with that ,and have decided to make a digital servo fit, and hopefully that should solve the problem

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gary Sparshott The way I was considering sorting it was to see how wide the hub of the servo arm (that came with the new servo) was, drill out the splines with a drill of the right size, cut off the arms of the servo arm, leaving only the hub. Epoxy that hub into the hole I'd just drilled in the tail. Fit to servo!Should work fine. Best of luck.

      Same here. Just sorted out the tail jitters by lowering the mix levels for yaw. For my setup it works best at 15%. Then from there, tune yaw PIDs. Ended up with Yaw P-92, I-230, D-0.

    I am having a problem setting up my transmitter in CC3D. I am using a Turnigy 9x transmitter with stock firmware and a turnigy 9x8C v2 receiver. When I get to the point where it says "Move the Throttle stick" I am getting no indication showing that I am moving the throttle stick. Light is red on the transmitter and everything seems to be connected properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I'm having an issue with the tail motor. Everything works fine on the initial setup. all motors spin on test and the servo responds correctly. But when I try to fly it, the Tail Motor won't spin at all. Front 2 motors do. Any Idea's why.. Thanks for you videos.. I have learned a great deal from them..

      +Visesh Lall Hey, I solutionated the problem by doing this: when the computer setup says to you to assign a switch for the flight mode, you will have to use another one instead of the classic flight mode switch, in my case I used the small wheel up of the roll stick.

    Hi, I plan to build a tricopter, I have cheap SG90 servos, but testing with servotester the digital servo is shaking at most of the positions or by a small force or during movement. The analog does not have this shaking issue but has slower response.
    how can this issue avoided? I have used APM as FC so far and wish to use a CC3D for my first tricopter, no KK board.
