    can the cc3d be a 2 axis gimbal controller , at the sametime a quad's controller board ?

    Is their any way to assign the gimbal and camera to a fixed angle and assign two angles to a two position switch so you can toggle through say, a 10degree angle and 20degree angle. Thanks!

    Ahhhhhh ! I finally get the mixing procedures for mixing and matching the input on the transmitter to the output on the board! This video made it clear for me,because I couldn't wrap my head around it with the gains video! Oh the possibilities! 3 position switches for everybody!!!LOL

    Thanks for this! Great video.
    How would you set this up to a slider on the radio? I am currently building one of these but am not interested in the autolevel part. I would just like a slider or switch to move from 45 deg angle to horizontal to make landing or slow proximity flying more controllable.

      @Painless360  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kim Lindblom This is all covered in the well documented Openpilot pages - wiki.openpilot.org/display/WIKI/Gimbal
      You can't have a camera control without some level of stabilisation using the Gimbal module. Simple add an Input Channel to the Pitch section in 'Advanced Settings' directly under the 'Basic 'Settings' section on the 'Camera stabilisation' tab in Openpilot.
      Once set, Openpilot will then us that control to adjust the direction of the camera.
      Best of luck.

      Under "Ouput" all channels except 1-4 (motors) are greyed out and can not be adjusted.. Do you have any idea why this is?
      I am using OneShot and PPM on my system.

    Hi there, brilliant video, thanks. Simple one i'm sure. Is it possible to add further control to this gimbal. For example, I want to fold away the camera before landing and then stabilise it at a mid point during flight? It's actually to stabilise an aerial but needs to fold away before landing?
    Thanks,
    Will

My GCS is a bit different I have noticed. I get the Mode as well as the Update rate in outputs. Still not working. In my opinion this CC3D Revolution board is one troublesome board.

    After watching the video I have some doubts... I would like to do the same with my eachine racer 250. It has a CC3D board but all channels are already bound. I guess this means that I would need another CC3D board and also another battery?

      +Eduardo Agustin Vendrell del Río or you could de-solder one of the unused PWM outputs and have that one coming out of the other side of the board so you can connect a servo to it... Best of luck!

    painless I was in a bit of a jam and wondering if you could help? Myself and 5 other guys are attempting to set up a course and upgrade from librepilot to betaflight. Flashing the cc3d with beta flight seems simple enough but, a few including myself would like to add an minimosd. Would the setup be the same as adding osd to cc3d? I know the cc3d is a older FC but we all the gyro and it always gives the option to go back to librepilot. I've had a hard time convincing my buddies that betaflight is better. Is there anyway you could do a video?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +AARON ARRINGTON we've not done all that here but adding a MinimOSD 'should' be the same as as adding one to any other board. Remember to use something like KV_team firmware on it and you may have to try both ports to see which one is happy running telemetry. Best of luck'

    A quick question, I readed the whole documentation but I think I didn´t understand it pretty well.
    I want a camera stabilized in roll and pitch axis, but I also wanna control the pitch, so we say I have to use 3 extra output channels Right? Then, do I need a 7ch in total? 2 for stabilization and 1 to one potentiometer, or the 2 stabilization outputs are independent from the Input Channels?
    Thanks.

    • @Painless360

    Hi, thanks for video. I´m not a modeller, but I need lightweight 1 axis gimbal (exactly like this) for paragliding. I want to build one, but I don´t know voltage and type of battery, and what is the thing on the wire between battery and CC3D.Thank You for the answer

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The CC3D and the servo run on 5v. The 'thing' is a 5v BEC that supplies both. The BEC then plugs into a battery with a higher voltage (2s-3s LIPO usually). Best of luck!

    Is there a way to add a gimbal to a hexacopter (like a F550)?
    Is is enough to get the pitch and roll signals from the receiver by adding an Y-calbe? I think if the CC3D is stabilized with attitude mode, it should work.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Painless360 You said in the video "..this is tricky to do, if you are using any more than 4 motors..". Maybe you can describe this shortly how tricky it is.
      Now I fly with a CC3D in my F550, but I've ordered a CC3D Revolution too. So I can take the CC3D only for gimbal. Is that the dedicated way which you have mentioned?

      +Painless360 Well I found the problem my gyros and accelerometters just don´t work. You didn´t make any calibration before hand right?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The board was setup and calibrated before I added the camera. It's good practice to calibrate the ACC and MAG as the first steps after flashing the board.

    • @Painless360

      +aerialpunkin I'd re-flash the board as step one..

      +Painless360 thanks man, i tried that but it didn't seem to help. i did get it working though with a weird work around, in the vehicle tab i set accessory to channel 6, which then allowed me to set min, max and neutral settings in the output tab (which if i didn't do that were greyed out) then in the camera stabilisation tab it would not let me set the pitch output channel to 6, so i had to go back first to the vehicle tab and deselect channel 6 as an accessory...wierd, but it's working great now. maybe if I'd seen Josh Vermast comment below i could have got it working that way.
      noticed that the wiki open pilot page seems to have been taken down, do you know if open pilot still being developed or has it been replaced by libre pilot?

    Very interesting video dude !
    I just have a few questions :
    Can we use the CC3D board to control the quad while controlling the servo gimbal ?
    Can we program a switch on the transmitter to change the angle manually in flight (for example if I want to see the ground) ?

      Yes you can and I've not tried it. :) Best of luck!

    Thanks for the tips. I have a Dymond D47 servo, and the EF Hammerhead nano. I'm not a fan of setting the FPV cam tilted up on small craft. I'd rather have it on a tilt, with limited travel to try to keep situational awareness.

    Let me get straight, I just discovered this new feature, could the gimbal feature of the cc3d compete with a pre made gimbal?
    I mean if the quality and the steadiness are nice I could build a homemade 2 or 3 axis gimbal with a couple of good digital servos and connect them to the board, Right? If this system is that good I don´t know why this isn´t destroying the market of premade gimbal you can save a lot of money...
    Btw, very good video.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 'real' gimbals you are thinking of use brushless motors to provide silky smooth, powerful, fast and accurate movement to stabilise the camera.
      This method uses servos so the results are nowhere near as satisfactory.
      But is is a nice cheap way to help stabilise the camera. And weighs little too.
      Happy flying

    • @DashzRight
      @DashzRight 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you don't think with a couple of very good digital servos, and a pretty decent setup of the gimbal feature in cc3d couldn't match the performance of a brushless gimbal?
      It would be nice and interesting to find a video making this experiment between both.
      Regards.

      I only want to use it as a servo (with a mounted camera)via the FC. It makes me possible to change the perspective while flying. Do you have an idea?

    • @Painless360

      I'd connect it to the receiver directly or Google passthrough for the CC3D.. Best of luck!

      No, connecting directly to rx is impossible due to CPPM. There is no solution on the internet.:-(

    Thank you so much for the video and the comments.
    I have never thought about not having the camera tilt because you are unaware of what your quad is flying
    I fly a 350qx with a GoPro on a two axis gimbal and use FPV with the GoPro. Seems to work well but I am not
    Flying fast or through a group of trees. As
    With I am planning with the 250 mini quad.
    Thank you for all your help in the setup .

  • @tristansemmelhack5367

    For anyone who has had the issue where the pwm adjustment bars are grey, I've got the solution. Configure the board in the wizard as a fixed wing aircraft, and during that setup configure your servo as if it were for an aileron by plugging it into channel 1. Once the setup wizard is finished, you can go to the output tab and can adjust the servo like Painless does in the video. However, if you try to assign gimbal pitch control to channel 1 you'll get an error in the dialogue box at the bottom of the screen saying the channel is already assigned as an aileron channel. So, go to system, settings, mixeroutput, and go to mixer1type and click on the word "servo," which will bring up a selectable list of things you can re-map channel 1 to. Select Camerapitchorservo2, and hit save, which is the button that looks like a hard drive with a red arrow. Then go through the regular gimbal process in the video and it should be working! Took a while to figure out, but basically I'm tricking the system into allowing me to configure the servo, then reassigning the configuration to where I need it.

      shawn schroter A lot of it is personal preference - the flight characteristics for the basic boards are very similar.

      to achieve that you need to go to settings --> Mixersettings --> Mixer5type --> set it to Accessory0.
      if you have accessory0 assigned to a 3p switch on your Tx then your good to go. (accessory0 in my case as I have a 6CH Tx and only have accessory0 spare 5th CH being flight mode switch).
      DO NOT! forget to set the start, neutral, and end points for the servo under the config --> output section as shown in the video above.
      hope this helps.
      happy flying :)
