Lucy I just want to say thank you for talking and promoting against animal torture and being so brave to go up these horrible people and encouraging tourist to stop riding on these animal or promoting any animal entertainment. You’ve give me the courage to talk against animal cruelty when in Sri Lanka as I know people can become so aggressive and violent

22:05 is actually an ancient urinal. Carved in a plaque of stone and the small hole on top is connected to pipe like structure again made with stone and it gets connected to a series of clay pots filled with pebbles, sand and sort of things that acts as filters. the urine is going into the deep soil after going through this filtering system. You can see the cleared out filters in museums.

Another lovely video. Enjoyed so much. Lucy’s comments on what would it look like if humans are not there anymore is a very valid question. A tiny glimpse of that was seen during the height of the Covid pandemic in some places when wild life began to venture out of their confined areas and started roaming and relaxing in unusual places like paved roadways etc Looking forward to more fun adventures. Be safe L & L on your adventures.

Hi Lucie and Lahiru, it was truly amazing and brave of the two of you to speak up so boldly against the cruelty we call ourselves a Buddhist country but we forget the basis of the teachings. All these people want to do is earn money they don't care what they do to earn it. The elephant was looking so sad and it was just heartbreaking. I love you two for speaking up. Thank you two for doing that. However having said that it will not always be the safest thing to do so be wary of it too. People can be rather rowdy when they are called out on things. Stay safe enjoy your trip ❤❤

Good on you, Lucie, for having a 'go' at the elephant ride exploiters. I note that you didn't mention the Pinnawela sanctuary as an alternative venue for seeing elephants in Sri Lanka. And rightly so. Their 'track record' is not exactly squeaky-clean either.
Lucky you and 'Roo', for having seen so many Slender Loris in the wild, all during one nocturnal jungle walk!
As a few other viewers have already pointed out, those animals at 17:45 are jackals. We used to see the occasional one even in the Colombo suburb of Wellawatte in the 1950s.
And that refreshing drink you both enjoyed at 1:34 & 25:53, it's not "lemon juice". It's LIME JUICE, made from limes ('dhehi'/දෙහි in Sinhala).
Keep up the great work on the 'L&L* Show'!

yes. if anyone wants to see baby elephants up close they can visit Udawalawa Elephant Transit Center. Home for rescued, injured, malnutritioned baby elephants who got lost from the herd and their moms. They have been treated back to healthy and when they are matured enough they are been releasing back into the wild.

I hope you also condemn and criticize the use of Horses and other animals as well in countries like England, Europe etc... for pulling heavy chariots or standing hours just for ceremonial reason or in cold weather Zoos . Those animal like Elephents need to be freed and thrive in wild in the habitat they are born to!!!

Thank you so much for speaking to the foreigners who were promoting elephant rides. Our people will never understand the essence of compassion or how idiotic it is to use a chained animal for their lucrative trade avenues. Atleast the better educated tourist will understand the inhumane perspective of animal captivity. Back of Beyond seems a very nature friendly place. Thank you for the info. Lucie and Lahiru you are having the best years of your lives, road-tripping and exploring this Island! The dog-like, fox-like fellas are the Sri-Lankan Jackal. They remind me of the hyena.

I'm so glad that you spoke up for that poor elephant. Those foreigners know exactly what they are doing. They just don't care.
Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country, and elephants are supposed to be a religious iron but they are tourted in temples and tourist places. So sad.
There is no real reason or necessity for our temples to keep elephants in temple premises. This has become a symbol of status/ just to boost up the ego of the head priest. Just to carry the casket of Buddha's relics once a year on a pageant the poor animal is kept tethered to a tree throughout it's life. An inhuman, cruel practice that is an insult to Buddha who peached "ahimsa" kindness and compassion to all living beings.
Our totally corrupt political rogues encourage this practice and keep elephants in there custody too just to boost up their egos. So this despicable practice goes on unabated. What a tragedy!.

Thank you for speaking up about the elephant abuse. I think we should all together start up a elephant protection awareness campaign in Sri Lanka. I am following the injured Agbo elephant, how sad because of evil humans poor souls are suffering. Because of this reason I always says Sri Lanka don’t deserve elephants.

Why you are not allowed to use camaras or video..most Museums and galkries like even Lourver generally cite concerns that camera flashes can damage the pigments in paintings. Some pigments are indeed sensitive to light, which speeds up chemical reactions that break them down. As a result, the lighting in museums and galleries is carefully controlled to minimise damage.
