The history of the donkeys is they were brought to Sri Lanka during the mid 18th century by Arab traders. You generally see them in Puttalam and Mannar districts. The Sri Lankan gypsies also used them for transportation.
But now who looks after them? are they owned? I read somewhere when I was doing research about them that sometimes they are used for meat 😞

'Titania' and 'Nick Bottom' was the image that flashed by, when I saw you with those nice n friendly donkeys on route to Jaffna. I think they were brought to Sri Lanka by teams of businessmen who first set foot on our island, peddling their wares. Donkeys symbolise resilience and grit.

NB: it’s safe to carry extra few litters of patrol with 2T in case you didn’t find a filling station, especially on long distances , and some other stuff as an emergency kit.

With the losing of power intermittent I expect the mechanics have looked at the fuel filter to see if it’s full of dirt and restricting fuel flow. Alternatively the fuel injectors could be dirty. The other obvious alternative is to replace the spark plugs. Good luck!

Gfrear watching you both overcome the obstacles and the long journey and still come out looking happy and fewer for the next bit of your journey. You are catching the sun Lucie, so I hope you have used some sunblock to protect your skin.Driving all those hours you will be focused on the road but all of you is getting a lot of sun exposure, even legs and arms.The donkeys were really lovely, animals seem to be much happier and gentler, but maybe these donkeys know they are in a good place they are not so grumpy as the ones in the U.K. I hope they are leading their best lives and do not have to work at all. You would have to take more than one if you wanted to keep them otherwise they would get lonely. I wonder if they are wild now or whether people actually own them? Hope that Ru and you had a lovely rest once you got to Jaffna, you both deserve it, that was a bit of a hairy journey.

YES YES YES you should keep a donkey..they are adorable ..you can get one from Puttalam..I think you allowed to keep them .
originally brought to the country around 7th centuary AD by either the Portuguese or Arab traders as 'beasts of burden'- they lost their use when the means of transportation improved..now they are wild and roam free.
If you went to Delft isla ds up north you will see WILD HORSES ..large herds also left by these people

That drive through Colombo was so stressful and that was only me watching it let alone driving it. Does Lahiru not have a licence to drive a tuk tuk? He drives a motorbike, is it different to drive a tuk tuk?
He doesn't have a license no, I got the full driving license which covers motorbike, tuktuk and car 🙂 but whenever we go on a motorbike, he drives! I'm not very good at driving those 🙈

Those are wild donkeys of Puttalam who are roaming freely. They are stray animals/wildlife. Unfortunately their wild habitats were occupied by humans. Sad but that's the reality everywhere in the world. It would be a better idea to relocate those wild donkeys to a national reserve something like Yala but then they would be an easy pray to leopards.

Lahiru is so so much blessed to have a wife like you, but I feel that you carry all the burden by yourself being a righteous wife. Let him drive the tuk tuk and you monitor sitting behind him and I know for sure that he will do everything to comfort you. Just guide him. Otherwise you obviously get tired often. I can feel your flow of thoughts being a wife. Build up your confidence on him sweetheart. Love to see both grow old together ❤
