From a distance it looks perfect and impressive, well done! I’d probably have incorporated a skirting board with hidden up lighting and mirrored the same up to the ceiling. Those dark gaps are excellent for hiding led strips. Lighting will transform it into another dimension. Well, you did ask. 😂 🏴😇
This is great!! I’m currently in the middle of the exact same project. I’ve been avoiding the hinge installation because I’m terrified I’m going to mess up the door. I 3D printed spacers to keep the boards level, but never thought to print up a router guide for the hinge alignment. Such a good idea!
Great job, like the errors and corrections on the way. If there was nothing else on the wall it would be much better, unfortunately the outlets, grate and switch are an eye soar - no sense making an accent wall that has such discruptions. I would try to move the outlet and switch if possible and concele the grate if possible. Easier said than done, I know but in terms of hidden door it is brilliant.
👍 Great video - I’m just about to start almost the exact type of project so it answered a few questions I’ve been wondering about. I’d love to get ahold of those hinge templates files.
Ya this would’ve been a good idea, thought about putting black mesh over it and having the slats go down through it like you said, but it’s covered up by furniture for our setup so decided against the extra effort
I love this project if like to do it for two side by side doors, one is a ventilating door for the air conditioning inflow. What could I do to hide it but have proper air inflow to the air handler?
🎉looks great But what does it look like with the door opened? I have a corner of my bedroom that has three doors and would LOVE to the final look you got
Great video. I would like to try something like this, but how would you go about calculating the distance for the door and end up with equal slats the whole way over the wall.
I started with a slat at the hinge area then calculated spacing to get it to overlap the wall in the “handle” side, then just continued on with that spacing on both sides of the door to the wall
Great work ! I have same.idea but in my case the door is inward. So you have any suggestions if the door.opens other way ? Please advise. Your video will be my referrence
What is the purpose of the light switch innthe middle of the wall? Did you think about flipping it around so it is used from the opposite side and you dont interrupt the slat side?
@AverageDadChannel oh, I meant the other side of the same wall so it's in the other room. But I don't know what it does. Thanks for response all the same.
As a former single-family real estate valuations analyst, I don't believe this will make a material difference to the value of the home. However, I love the idea and the finished product! I would definitely do something like this. Now I just need to save up for a house for the next 20 years...
This is something that does not add value from a feature perspective for your bank loan, but it adds value if it becomes something a future buyer wants.
This is to date, the best hidden door video on YT I've seen.
Thanks C, pinned.
This is the best looking door that I can't see.
Not a pun, but I’ll take it 😀
Best hidden door on YT. Loved your video.
I really liked your project, especially because it feels DIY from start to finish. Looking forward to more of it. Greetings from Germany!
My aim is for the videos to be more relatable and approachable, so that’s good to hear!
Cheers
I chuckled twice during this video so I've signed up. Great work!
Awesome, thank you
I’ll be aiming for two full-on laughs at the next video 😀
LOLed at the block of wood with weights on it for a stop block. Definitely something I could see myself doing. Good video!
if it works, it works.
Turned out amazing!
Thank you!
Love it…would like to do the same thing at my home. Thank you for making the video!
You're welcome, good luck!
Looked so nice I watched it twice

Thanks! Yes have seen some really cool lit walls, maybe I’ll add that one day
Such a great project man! Looks awesome. 🙌
Thanks Tom!

Thanks, good luck on the hinges!
It looks great! I would of liked to see you open and close it when completed. Please add to this one, or make another video. Thanks
I’ll make a short this week where I’ll walk through the door

Such a cool transformation!
Thanks Josh!
I'm liking because of the 1:35 joke. 10/10 joke and 9/10 video. Too many Spiderman references.
love it
totally fair point on the Spiderman references.
Looks amazing!
Thanks HL

Hey Greg, shoot me an email (listed on the About tab of the channel)
Great video!
Thanks!
Great job
Thank you
Nice. I would have removed the return vent cover…painted the inside and run the slats right over it. Good work.
Ya this would’ve been a good idea, thought about putting black mesh over it and having the slats go down through it like you said, but it’s covered up by furniture for our setup so decided against the extra effort
@ Very nice work
Finally someone NOT promoting those crazy overpriced slat wall products.
This is how we do it 🎶
My people.
I don't know where the Average comes into play, but you are definitely above average on this project.
Thanks for the kind words
This is sick 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you sir

Really cool .. not liking the brown switch but really cool project
Thanks Adam, what would you have done with the switch? I may cut a thinner piece of wood and stain it to match later
🎉looks great
But what does it look like with the door opened? I have a corner of my bedroom that has three doors and would LOVE to the final look you got
check out the YT short on my channel and you can see me walk through it
Looks great! I have seen a few of these walls and am always curious how much of a pain they are to dust/clean long term.
We shall see, not thinking about that right now 😆
Don't forget your affiliate links! They're blank.... Loved the video!
updated, thanks!
The chin move at 2:13😎
Damn, this is sick asl
I don’t know sign language but thank you for the kind words
you need to unscrew the wires from the dimmer, pass the extension box then reattach those wires on.
“Everything, in retrospect, is obvious”
Thanks!

Likely you could still use the slats to cover the break between door and wall, those slats would just be attached to the wall instead of the door
What state are you in and are you available for hire?
What is the purpose of the light switch innthe middle of the wall? Did you think about flipping it around so it is used from the opposite side and you dont interrupt the slat side?
Light switch was existing and I didn’t want to go to the trouble of relocating it on another wall

WOOOOOWWWWWW

Awesome project. But that Will NOT increase the value of the home
Maybe not to a bank, but would it increase the appeal and therefore someone’s offer when we sell?
@@AverageDadChannel no, of course not. But it's cool and will probably increase your enjoyment!
Who cares. It’s an awesome door and a forever home
@@danightryder sure, but that wasn't what was said.

Correct, meant more of changing the price someone would be willing to pay due to the emotional draw of the wall, poorly worded on my part.
