I believe she was referring to David's children and hers combined. I don't think she was including the other wives children in that count. Doesn't David have 7 children?
If Robyn won’t allow her to be a mother, she can’t claim those kids as hers. She can care about them but not call them hers since she’s not allowed to.

This was the point I was going to make. She parented the OG 3's children. She sees them as part hers because they are. She was never allowed to bond with Robyn's children that way. Also, her ENTIRE sentence was that her 13 kids are protective of her. Robyn's kids aren't. They don't have that kind of relationship.
Came here to say that 18 minus Robyn’s 5 is 13. She includes Leon. Christine is not going to be fake and lie and say that she is a mom to Robyn’s children when Robyn always kept them separate with Nannie’s and did not allow Christine to mother them. Christine saying she is a mom to 13 is just being honest and this is Robyn’s fault, not Christine’s. David, look back and see how Christine lamented that Robyn did not allow her to care for her 5 children?
Christine's thirteen children would include Meri's child, just not Robyn's because Christine was never allowed to get close to them since Robyn keeps them so isolated from the rest of the family. It's been a thing on the show before. However; it was mentioned that she reached out in some capacity and invited them to the wedding.

One of the reasons I enjoy the wedding episodes is that we get to see some of the children who have decided to distance themselves from the show when they reached adulthood. Glad that they've found some peace and privacy, but so nice to see them on these episodes
In the early seasons, you see a lot of parentification of the older kids. Logan was waking up extremely early to get himself and all the other kids ready to go to school. He was waking up his siblings, getting them dressed, and making them breakfast. Kody was nowhere to be found. Gwen has said that she considers Logan a father figure. She didn’t want to have anyone walk her down the aisle when she got married but she said if she did have someone walk her down the aisle, it would’ve been Logan. Aspyn and the older girls were also extremely parentified. When Truly got extremely sick when the wives went away, Aspyn and the older girls were devastated and blamed themselves. They knew Kody was not responsible or reliable. Aspyn noticed that Truly was sick and Kody didn’t do anything about it. It wasn’t until Christine came back that they took her to the hospital. She almost died.
Ok I nearly died watching this. The impression of a 'stallion' made me laugh so hard it, scared my dog and induced a huge eye water, coughing fit, that required crossed legs!!! lol

Google lawnmower parents. It's a real term. They're worse than helicopter parents because they "mow down" any obstacle before a child can even encounter it. Helicopter parents "hover" and "swoop down" to take over when adversity is met.
Christine’s comment about the kids was that they were “protective of her”. I believe that is why she would say “all 13 of my kids are very protective of me” and NOT include Robyn’s kids bc she was NEVER able to have that mother/child relationship with any of them. Robyn made sure of that. So in this context I completely understand why she is talking about her 6, Janelle’s 6, and Meri’s 1. She mothered all of those children all their lives. That doesn’t mean she didn’t want a relationship with Robyn’s kids OR that she still wouldn’t welcome them and have a relationship with them. But, she wouldn’t include them when saying that “my children are protective of me”. That’s my take on it. It’s really sad for Robyn’s kids. She isolated them and herself and convinced them that the rest of the family didn’t want them. Christine wanted them right off the bat. She wanted to watch them like she did all the other children and Robyn said no and got a nanny. What a slap in the face to Christine. Further proof that Robyn really DIDN’T want the whole family, she just wanted Kody and the TV show 🤷♀️

We know she offered and wanted Robyn’s kids to be with the other kids and she wanted to watch them. Robyn said no. I think the “ I won’t call you Dad” is a line from Step Brothers movie. That is why he said that.
She’s including Leon (Meri’s child) in her count. Robyn’s 5, however, are not included. Christine did indicate that she had reached out to Robyn’s kids but had not received a response prior to the wedding.
And... she did not RAISE Robyn's kids. Robyn never let them even stay with her. So Christine's just being honest. They're NOT her kids.

Christine already reached out to Robyn’s kids and they chose not to reply. And Robyn chose to have a nanny instead of allowing Christine to help watch her kids. Robyn chose to live separately. Christine can’t really call Robyn’s kids her own. She’s never been given the chance to even get to know them let alone raise them.

Yes - I think that would be great. It could fill in a lot of the gaps David has re: their past and how that influenced the way their relationships are today. And I would love to hear his analysis of their earlier days.
Yessss!!!!! I think it would give a lot of context that David is missing.
After the wedding eps were over, I started watching S1 and have wanted David's insights in the timeframe I saw Kody first have a change in his behavior and look in eyes. It's the same episode Truley is hospitalized. Then later it is revealed in that season of time his brother and father died.
I never saw a cause shared of what caused Truley to stop intaking liquid and in two separate scenes around that time they showed Kody lying down and c/o fatigue.
I tried to scrutinize the early episodes knowing how things were last we have seen, and I just thought he had a tremendous change in behavior .... and I saw it peek out in that timeframe.... and then it seemed like he got back to his former better self. And that's all the further I am. They are back from Alaska and Meri is messed up and creating paintings, Mariah incensed at her, Robyn about to deliver a girl AND Meri wanted to use RnK's little boy as an icebreaker visiting Mariah but they agreed to send an older daughter.
David asks for reasons people are not pro-Meri and there's a lot to see in that timeframe.
Kody didn’t have issues with attraction to heavier women. He’s never even hinted at a problem with attraction to Janelle. So, you’re absolutely right. He was just being cruel to Christine.
I completely agree. I think he actually was quite into Janelle physically speaking.
I equate Christine's behavior to that of a high school girl. During her first puppy love relationship, and she is showing the world that she belongs to David, and vise-versa. In her "dating" maturity, this is the second man she has ever dated. I feel sure the overt PDA will calm down as she is more comfortable in her "self" and this new unconditional love. This is my hope at the very least! Get it Christine!!

People overlook the importance of the sibling factor with big families. It’s a HUGE blessing that long outlives the parents.
Thank you. You said this beautifully. Just because the parents have less time with each child does not mean the kids are suffering with loneliness. And when you get older and your parents pass you hopefully still have your siblings.
I often remind my children that when I’m gone they are the only people that will be able to say “remember when mom….” Nobody else will have the same relationship with them.
13 Kids is 6 of Christine’s, 6 of Jenelle’s & Meri’s son Leon. The only ones not invited are Robyn’s 5 kids. I guess that her kids were young enough that the majority would not feel comfortable going without their parents who were definitely not invited. The OG 3’s kids were all raised together as siblings, Robyn’s kids were never integrated with the others for a multitude of reasons.
I think if you replaced "her kids were young enough" with "her kids are immature enough." Don't forget, her older kids are college aged or OUT and the younger Sol is almost 13. College kids are certainly old enough and what better opportunity to see their siblings. Oh wait, they don't consider the original kids their siblings. I will just never forget their faces when Christine left, standing there pouting. It was so ugly and disturbing, that they could not show some grace and understanding.
I wish this guy would do his research before he opens his mouth. Just about everyone knows the situation with the kids. He's frustrating.
Robyn would not allow Christine to have the kid’s at the wedding without her present. She won’t even allow Mykelti to see the kids without Robyn with them. Robyn has to supervise them at all times.

I have 7 children, all adults now. My children were loved enough and learned to love each other and get along and also to give space when needed. I believe they are less selfish and more independent and capable because of their siblings and parenting.

I was raised in a big family.We were 2 boys and 3 girls and we also had a number of fosterchildren.I never felt left out My mother loved us all and gave us the emotional support we needed.My father worked a lot but he was always there for us.I loved to grow up in a big family.

She didn't raise Robyn's kids because Robyn wouldn't let her. She git a nanny instead. Meris child Leon is included. Janelle has 6 and Meri has 6 and 1 of Meri's. Christine watched all 13 while Jenelle and Meri worked. Robyns kids came into familt much later. Then robyn didnt utilize Christine fir any sitting. She used her friend and cousin as nanny. Robyn set it up so they didn't fully integrate.

I have sympathy for Mykelti. She felt like a black sheep in the family and Robyn took advantage of her. She didn't want to be in a position of having to choose between her mother and father, but Kody seems to think she is disloyal to him because she doesn't agree with how he treated her mother. I still think Mykelti is immature, but I don't think her intentions are bad. Tony on the other hand drives me nuts. I don't think he respects Mykelti. He constantly talks over her in her Patreon videos and left his job so he could stream video games. I just can't help but to wonder if Mykelti is being both the breadwinner and primary caretaker of their children while he's sitting around playing his games.

Christine raised and mothered the 13 OG kids. I think that is understandable. She had no part in the raising of Robyn's kids and they wouldnt view her the same as the 13 do.
Christine did include Mari's child in the count of all of "her" children being there. Leon was at the wedding, even though Meri was not invited.
I went back watched all the sister wives episodes… it’s clear to see Robyn’s manipulation taking up all kody’s time .. when Kody opened up present all the wives said we thought you would love computer ..Robyn said “I knew he wouldn’t like it” even though they all picked it out. Stuff like that it’s been since day 1 !!! That marriage broke up a beautiful family!

I tried watching Smothered when it came out but it seemed like it was scripted and over acted for the cameras. I couldn’t take it because it was so irritating and unbelievable to me.

I really appreciated what David had to say about how as parents we should not want our kids to feel a lack of love or support when we try to teach them to handle their own challenges. He said we don't want the lack of love and support to be the actual challenge.

Re: the kiss, I don’t think Christine has been to enough weddings sealed with a kiss by people who are used to kissing each other to see how badly tongue kissing photographs. And she didn’t have that high school or college experience of seeing friends making out and getting grossed out by it. So she’s learning the lesson of what that looks like when real people go that hard in public the hard way.
