I'm sure Sobyn and Kody discussed Kody adopting the kids in front of Mary. How AWFUL it would be if Sobyn's horrible ex had access to them and the only way to prevent that would be adoption by Kody. She was absolutely coerced by the terrible twosome into that divorce.

That’s what I thought. No one asked her - would you or not. But that’s exactly what I thought happened - they began a conversation about those “poor babies”, they “mean - mean father”, how impossible was for Kody to put them on their medical insurance (although Kody wasn’t employed by then, unless they become TLC employees - not sure how that works).
So, Sobyn cried in front of Meri. Kody probably said - “oh, if we were only legally married - and I could adopt them” - and, VOILA - that woman is ready to do whatever to make Kody like her. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️

The power play in that move not only gave Robyn half in the event of the divorce, but also gave her the power of dividing up assets among the wives and kids in the event that Kody died.

The show (and Meri) presented the divorce as though it was Meri's idea. I don't believe that. I suspect this was Meri jumping through some Kody-hoops to earn back his love.
Especially after we found out about him melting down his ring and not wanting "Meri to have power over" him.
I was thinking how his rubbing her back in the lawyer's office was probably the most recent affection she had gotten from him 🤮

Robyn’s mother didn’t get legally married to Paul Sullivan, but he adopted Robyn and her siblings. Forcing Meri to give up her legal marriage was to give Robyn the power and take it away from Meri. Robyn is such a bad actor in those scenes.
That’s interesting. I wish TLC would ask about that. Why do they (TLC) tiptoe around Kody so much? They’re the ones paying them. If he walks off set-don’t pay him. Problem solved. I would also LOVE to see a man interview him. Kody has no idea what healthy, strong men are REALLY like.

Kody and Robyn celebrate their anniversary on the legal wedding date, so no, not just a paper shuffle. He says they can leave but gives them nothing to leave with. Yeah, what a great guy.
The legal marriage for Meri was obviously what Meri felt like was the last thing that made her feel like she was tied to Kody. He was not treating her like a wife and this at least made her feel like she was. Meri divorced him to try to "find favor", just like when she helped bring Robyn into their family.
Both of those I just do not believe that Kody and Robyn didn’t actually do it and manipulated Meri to take the blame.

In past I believe that not all rough patches were organic. He’s the type to use that as a way to manipulate and control his partner.

I bet that Kody and Robyn were seeing each other, and Meri had nothing to do with it until Kody filled her in to have her take the blame. Robyn ran in the same circles and knew about the browns and TLC. There was no Meri played Cupid. On its face does that sound realistic? Nope! Meri was just as miserable as the other to wives and not happy to add a fourth. The only thing she was trying to do was make poop turn into a flower. Maybe get her husband to turn to her again by “proving” herself taking the blame. And maybe get an actual sister wife that doesn’t resent her for having what they wanted at the start. Robyn is when everything went straight to hell and there was no fixing things at all. Seems the OG3 found a medium until they. They at least were more family than now. Robyn came and Kody picked a side setting off this reality.
Anyway, He and Robyn come off innocent of having gotten together in an affair way, and Meri takes the blame for “keeping it from the other wives cause Kody asked her too”. But they don’t focus on Kody keeping it a secret, their ire for Robyn now gets to direct to Meri saving both Kody and Robyn.
Ask yourself just why did Kody need it to be a secret from the other wives?
Kody only came clean when he was ready to demand marriage to Robyn.
Before this he was making all kinds of moves that we now know about that spelled trouble. Melting down his ring with Meri while pursuing Robyn. Now there is no way a wife is going to play Cupid when things are this bad.
We now know that the timeline Kody and Robyn claim do not match up to events. They have lied so much about everything. After all he was wearing the wedding ring while on a date with Robyn.
I agree 💯. I think Meri truly loved Kody and she is going through a divorce. I know how she feels, for some of us that little piece of paper means a lot to some.

I remember not liking Janelle in earlier episodes. I saw her stabbing other wives in the back just to cover her own. But I guess that is how the game of polygamy is played. Games always end and games always have winners and losers.

Yes! When Season 1 aired, I had a few Kody's and 1 Robyn in my life. Now, they are all VERY much removed. Watching Kody and Robyn can be a bit triggering but is also such a validation of the peace my life now has.
It's quite tiring honestly dealing with narcissists.

I never even made that connection, but now "legally" Leon, Sol and Ari are the only kids that Kody's under the eyes of the law, everyone knows that the rest are his as well, but technically those 3 are the only ones to have legitimacy for estate purposes....and Kody being so protective of "his" property and it being split in 2? Maybe I am reading waaaay to much into it, but food for thought.

This protection stemmed from the shenanigans of biological children squeezing out the adopteds if a parent died intestate. So, add 3 more.

Therapist here (LCSW) and when you pointed out that Nancy wasn't doing squat, I shouted YES! She also should have stepped in and helped process during that episode when Kody and Christine were told to build a rock cairn in Galveston, and Kody made it about the family instead of his relationship with Christine. To be fair, maybe Nancy did though, and it just got edited out. Love you, Allison!

Would be interesting if Pop Psych reviewed the Nancy episodes. Were there indications of his current allegations that he felt trapped / fell out of love/ wasn't attracted to anyone but Robyn?? Past Kody not wanting to be "in the middle" with all revolving around him... vs. 2020's insisting he is the hub, the decision maker and they all should obey and follow him. So many contradictions, lies and manipulations.
Kody made Meri do the divorce. I think there was an ultimatum. I completely agree with Allison. Robyn said no more babies unless you legally marry me. He made meri do it. My bet is he said i am going to divorce you no matter what but lets spin it and make you the hero so the kids can get adopted. But it was because robyn cut him off as far as babies until he did it. This was absolutely Robyn. That never occurred to me until Allison said it. It makes complete sense and the timing is spot on.

As a person who's always been unable to speak while they're upset as I tend to go into panic attacks while upset/sad, I can relate unfortunately to Robyn. Everyone's calling her a drama queen, but some people just buckle under pressure or are very sensitive. It's easy to criticize others we don't know when we're on the outside & don't know them personally. I'll give you an example. When I was 14, my drunk father drove home with me in the car, i was terrified I was gonna die the entire time as he was all over the road & he'd so be this countless times. When we got home he threatened to kill me because I pierced my tongue, pulled me out of the car, straddled me, choked me, pulled a huge chunk of my hair out & punched me in the side of the head. We lived in the middle of nowhere but I screamed for my life so he got off me. I immediately ran away even though it was December in Connecticut late at 10pm & freezing & I had no coat just a t-shirt. I tried walking the 20 miles back to my grandparents house & 2 hours later a state trooper found me & picked me up. Brought me back to my dad's house where he was pretending to cry. My shirt was ripped, my hair was messed up beyond belief & I was so upset i couldn't talk let alone tell the cop what really happened since it was clear to me the cop was on my abusive alcoholic father's side since they talked already. I this is just 1 example of when i was terribly upset & it was urgent for me to speak to help myself & was physically unable to from being so upset. It's happened to me dozens of times. I've been abused in every sense of the word, my parents were both horrible in different ways. Maybe, don't judge others so harshly. I don't see anything wrong with Robyn crying. Maybe you've had a great life and that's wonderful for you, but not everyone has been so lucky. Please remember that. Have some empathy.

I actually can be very sympathetic of others due to being raised by my bi-polar mother - I’m really good at reading others. Not that I’m perfect & may not always be right but in her case, I just don’t see sincerity. We all have a right to our opinions - right or wrong. If she isn’t up for the criticism - maybe don’t broadcast your life on national television.
2nd of all - maybe you should take your won advice & don’t be quick to judge. I’ve experienced more loss & death than most children will ever have to experience by the time I was 21. I’ve been homeless for 5 years, lost my kids, my daughter was paralyzed from a stroke at 7, went through a nasty & terrible divorce that 7 years later - I’m still trying to heal from. I have no family - I’m alone with my 2 kids - it’s just us - that’s it. I had to work my ass off to have a beautiful home for my 2 kids & I - none of which came easy. So no - I didn’t have a great life - I was sexually abused my entire childhood until I left my family home at 18 & it’s been a struggle ever since - I’m 48 now & am just now healing & learning to stand on my own 2 feet. I sympathize with you & I understand your stand point but maybe don’t come at people the way you do cuz I’m less willing to want to receive what someone has to give when they make assumptions of me while telling me not to do the same thing they’re doing. If he couldn't control someone from a higher status, his low self-esteem would drop even more and what do people do when they feel threatened? They become a very ugly person. He felt threatened by her. She is a lot smarter than he is, so...

I've started to see Meri as the Brown family scapegoat as far as Kody is concerned about the wives. I imagine the other wives built of an aversion to her because of how Kody treats her and they've just stopped noticing why they dislike her.
I don't think thats the basis of how they feel about her. They lived with her. I think she was not a likable person to them, between her personality and actions.

Mari also said leaving a bad relationship is weak. You should be left then you did everything you could. Leaving on your own terms is giving up in Mari head.

I agree with you. I think it was easy to blame everything on Meri. Just the fact that people still claim she was abusive to the kids with no proof demonstrates demonstrates this. Maybe she tried to actually place boundaries on the children she was said to also be the mother of? Yet people believe vague allegations that have been backtracked on.
Meri Brown has a new guy. It’s all over the internet and she announced it yesterday on her 53rd birthday. She said she has been seeing him since October, and he makes her laugh.
We all know how miserable the 3 wives were, and how that ASS made them feel. I wish her happiness, and I wish Kody and Robin would move to a small island somewhere in a foreign country where we don’t have to see or hear them again.

In the world of employment law there is a term called “constructive discharge.” This happens when the workplace becomes so intolerable forcing the employee to leave. That is Kody’s M.O. with Meri. Making life so intolerable hoping that she will make the move to leave. I don’t think he counted on her being so long-suffering.
Yep, I think that's what he was going for with all of them when he decided unilaterally with Robyn to move to AZ and take the equity from their homes. He knew they'd never agree to a "one house" thing, yet got the plan drawn up anyway to get rid of Christine (but instead she used her equity to buy a home for herself, surprise!)
He thought not helping Janelle find housing would send her back to Vegas, (and they could've invited Janelle to live with them in their huge home if they cared about them) but instead SHE bought a camper! Surprise again! So he had to be cruel to his boys and Savannah to finally get rid of her. It was all planned with Robyn getting the big house.

Way back when Kody sold Meri on divorcing him his pitch was so Robyn’s kids could b on his insurance. Makes me think this like everything was a complete lie. Because if u remember Christine was begging Kody to get ysabel insurance for her needed back surgery and he refused in fact wouldn’t pay for it and she was stuck w it paying completely on her own , causing a delay in surgery as she was desperately trying to come up w a way to pay for it .

I used to have this friend of many years - we were very close and spoke daily. Eventually he started dating this girl that didnt have many female friends and he went on and on about how we had to meet and we did end becoming great friends. Well they eventually broke up and he didnt wanna be my friend anymore bc I didnt also dump her as my friend - kody always makes me think if him.

If I remember correctly, I think Robin wanted a “private celebration” just with Kody and the her kids when they got their actual marriage certificate. They had their own private ceremony (for lack of a better word)
he keeps saying they could just leave, then when Christine wanted to leave he threw a hissy fit.
Hope Meri's got some legal muscle behind her to secure those extra 2 acres of land in the future. It's crucial that she doesn't let Robyn and Kody off the hook for trying to take what rightfully belongs to her. Robyn's victim act went out the window when they started talking about dividing up the land and she suddenly began to show her teeth. It's so frustrating that Robyn is still comfortably chilling in the mansion and sitting pretty on 4 acres of land (or 8, if you count Kody’s share) and both Meri and Janelle were footing the bill. Here's hoping Meri and Janelle don't end up on the losing side of this property division drama.

That was before it came out the Kody was responsible for the accident. The birth dad didn't have the money for a good lawyer. He was still supposed to have visitation.
Kody's unspoken goal at the pinic table was to keep all of the money, fancy house, cars, dodads for Robyn, Coyote Pass & cheat the OG 3 of everything. So far he's succeeding it appears.....so sad. Janelle & Meri aren't going after them so far....❤❤❤

I will not watch a show involving Kody and Robyn regardless of how much I like the other family members. I can not handle the lies and thievery and the manipulation and abuse anymore. All of the drama is detrimental to everyone's mental health. Especially for this family.

Meri didn't care about Janelle and Christine from day one with Robyn, she put blinders on and ignored J&C's feelings.
Christine and Janelle didn’t care about Meri either none of these women took up for one another. The way Janelle sat and listened to the way Kody spoke in disgust about Christine.
I am of the opinion Meri was still so in love with Kody that she would do anything to win his favour, bringing in a new, younger, child bearing wife, divorcing him so he could marry that wife, siding with him and Robyn etc it was all self preservation and desperation to have Kody take any slight bit of notice of her.
They were abused... you can see they were fearful of kody getting in their faces.... just as he did with Christine and janelle. However both did speak up on each other's and meris behalf in confessionals. Meri did not say anything nice at all about Christine or janelle... although in fairness she most refrained from piling on and agreeing with Robyn when she was being nasty about Christine
Nero is a problematic figure. There is no doubt she was abused and manipulated but she wasn't above harming others weaker than her with her moods and actions.
The others pulled away from her for her own self preservation
Hopefully they can all reflect on it and see kody and indeed Robyn as being far worse than their own negative actions over the years

Janelle dumped Meris brother to chase Kod, so therefore Janelle didn't care either about Meri
Janelle was married to Meri's brother, and she and Kody started courting without consulting Meri after they split. So it's completely understandable that Meri wasn't all sunshine and roses about the situation.

I caught that too and thought it was a clear indicator of where Kody saw himself in relation to the other wives. The OG3 can walk as far as they want. He has Robyn. Allison, I also want to be Janelle's friend! She's the one with most common sense.
You are right, your wife is stunning, and because of her intuition, she's way smarter than you. Regarding Meri's legal divorce, and Kody & Robyn's legal wedding that he calls a paper shuffle. Robyn and Kody was seen out celebrating their legal wedding day last year, so the legal marriage is something they celebrate and treasure 😀
"Paper shuffle" is insulting to Meri. Robyn has not given up her paper shuffle with Kody.

Kody has repeatedly said he's told them repeatedly they can leave if they want. Obviously he never believed his own words. If he had, he wouldn't be so angry 2 years later. I get that it's a blow to his ego but damn! Last year's tell all had Robyn tell Suki that Christine should have "marched his butt to therapy" if there were problems. Thereby blaming Christine for things not working. Either Kody's not in therapy or he needs a new therapist. He's holding everyone responsible for his refusal to move on.
I am not clear, how did he make sacrifices to love Christine, but then say that he never loved her in the first place? Does he think that love is something you can put on and off? I don't think that he knows what love is, as evidenced by how he treats his children.
