@@martinkosec Well... it's a bit much considering the bladder didn't spread the water evenly. It should probably be separated into segments so the water has to flow through more of it. The pump is also pretty bad, so it's not that great. Still, I could totally see it be sold for around $20, so it's not an outrageous price.

This would be useful for charging the battery also. Heat degrades the battery, so keeping it cooler would help it last longer. Also, all of the QuickCharge standards measure battery temp and apply power accordingly. So you could potentially charge faster as well.

@Allie X Yep. I drive for a living and the sunlight bakes my phone, but I have a magnetic vent mount and simply turn the A/C on from time to time to cool it down (and residual cool air continues to come out for a while after turning the A/C back off).

Well, if you prefer an excellent camera paired with an easy to use and outstanding preforming phone that takes like 2 days to die if u just are texting (for the first month without gaming, that starts to kill the battery slowly. been gaming on it since january, battery at 93% of og capacity) It has more charge than the average consumer will need. It’s a really nice phone that you will have for a long while and is likely going to be worth the investment. Maybe in a year or two once the capacity gets below 60% I will get the battery replaced, but that’s at least three years from now. But, it is really overpriced to the point where some people won’t buy it solely for the price which isn’t good. They would sell so many more if it was more affordable.

These cases have been around a long time, and they are produced for almost all phones that is why the fit of the case was so nice because all they did was add 2 holes to an existing case. Just search for a neon sand case you'll find out what I'm talking about.

I played the crap out of BTD4 back in the day, and beat every daily challenge for months on end, but 80% of the maps in BTD6 require pay2win, and the game isn't even F2P, it has a box price. Don't get it. It's crap. Literal impossible maps left and right, even on easy/normal, without ridiculous power ups like starting with a shit ton of money.

I use my phone a lot to record video, and it can get reaaally hot, especially when recording 4k.
so, from my perspective, this is a very interesting option to keep things cool during long recordings, especially because the phone is just sitting on a tripod the whole time
And this water cooling case should easily fit into those phone mounts. Perhaps dump out a bit of water and chuck in an ice cube once in a while, and this would amazing

I feel like this wouldn't be particularly useful in a gaming situation, but if you had this liquid loop set up for a vehicle dash mount, that would be nice. I have a Moto Z4 and when I use it for GPS on a really hot day.. the screen starts to black out intermittently because of the heat, and I have to put it in my cupholder with the AC blasting on it to get it to uh.. "chill out."

If your phone has a metal housing and not plastic this will work without doubt! The flow is a bit concerning but if the inlet and outlet ports are placed correctly according to CPU location and a 1-way valve is fitted then I'm quite certain you could rely entirely on the principle of thermal siphoning and toss that pump altogether.

I have to be the chemistry nerd who goes “well actually...” and point out that ice isn’t as stupid as it’s made out to be, if you’re using actual ice. Because of the heat of fusion of water, the ice -> water transition takes SIGNIFICANTLY more heat input than simply raising the temperature of an equal mass of water, and would extend the longevity of the useful cooling before the reservoir heats up.
In case someone needs to play eight hours of PUBG instead of only six.
They aren't saying ice doesn't work to cool water. They said three ice is dumb because it doesn't really help performance and it greatly reduces player comfort. So if anyone actually uses this thing, sure they can toss in a couple cubes if the water starts getting warm but don't try to use it with ice water.
Beakerbite I think you missed my point: it wouldn’t help the processor run faster per se, but it would help it run faster for longer because it can absorb significantly more heat than an equivalent mass of water.

On the first three runs, as far as I saw, they plugged in the phone. With a charger in it.
On the last three runs, the ones with the cooler, they didn't have the phone plugged in, which probably impacted the thermal throttling of the phone.

It's weird, but I live in the South. It gets really, really hot in the summer and phones overheat if you have to use them for navigation, music, etc. Charging and then putting your phone on a mount makes even the best phones overheat. It might be an actual solution.

So, I can see this being useful for mobile workers. I use to be a mobile computer tech and this would have been super useful for me. One of my biggest complaints was while using my GPS traveling around town (no matter what phone) my phone would get INSANELY hot. I would have absolutely loved to know about this device - it would have helped as I had the phone 'white out' from heat a few times.
[Also, I live in a desert - which doesn't help - also didn't have A/C in the car]
I like this. In 2007 I had an HP laptop that would only finish OS installs or do anything CPU intensive if I stuck it in the fridge. It got so hot that it would frequently shut down.

0:05 Let's see how this goes. I use my phone outside and on my dashboard in this insane summer heat. Very often my phone refuses to charge because it's too hot. I even literally have nightmares about struggling with my phone throttling when I really need it to work fast and respond for work.
Not this phone, but I strapped a heatsink to one before when I was having trouble. It maybe helped, but it was probably my imagination.
Why put it on the dashboard then and not somewhere e.g. near the outlets of the A/C? I assume your car has a working A/C if you are working somewhere hot

I... kinda want one. Casting footage from a phone over wi-fi while playing a game that's already kind of intensive for lots of hours at a time, kind of hard on the phone. One of these could make the whole thing... at least... more do-able? Hard to set up, but there's a use-case for streamers of mobile games. Or, y'know, those people paid to click buttons 16 hours a day.
that fitting is called gland, usualy used for inverters on electric motors and almost every electrical panel in the world use them

@@f33nx They use clickbait titles for a bit so they'll get enough views on the video to punch through YT's algorithm. Once they're past that, they'll change it to the actual intended title.
There have been cases like that for a long time, they were just used to put glitter in some fluid in the "water bladder" to make fancy looks

just make a loop that goes trough a running fridge, like leaving the fridge a tiny bit open and putting the reservoir in the fridge
You should put thermal paste between the phone and the case to make the heat tansfer better.
Also try if just setting up a cheap 120mm fans with a USB adpater on your desk can noticeably help with thermal throttling
