I love the vampire motif of Mindwipe and his fascination with black magic. It really makes him stand out from the other cybertronians. And I like the rebirth version of Mindwipe and Vorath's relationship. I wish there was a modern series that explored relationships between head masters and their partners more.
Picture this: Mindwipe could the leader of a Cybertronian cult, with fellow mystically inclined Deception, Bludgeon, as his bodyguard? Since both do black magic, Mindwipe would to the more belatedly magic stuff, like Mindcontrol, magic rituals, and luck alterations. while Bludgeon would use his magic more like a Slasher movie character. Taking more damage than a normal person could take, and appearing in places he shouldn’t be/ appearing somewhere else when unobserved. Any thoughts?
Now this is the perfect Transformers Halloween character. Also been quite a while since we covered one of the 'Master characters (Headmaster, Targetmaster, etc.). In the comic, Mindwipe was also responsible for killing the Autobot Beachcomber.
6:00 Animated's version of Mindwipe also seems to have similarities with Ben 10 Omniverse's Lord Transyl, unsurprisingly so since both were designed by Derrick J Wyatt
@@Darkrazer91 Since Wyatt unfortunately passed away a couple of years ago, that's probably never gonna happen. He was the soul of the series, it wouldn't be the same without him.
Mindwipe is my favorite Headmaster. He is quite unique with his hypnotizing special powers. In the main Hasbro toy-line, Mindwipe’s body was used in the Classic Monsters collaboration to present Dracula.
I always liked Mindwipe, because I love unusual characters and vampires are my favorite monsters, and you can't say that Mindwipe isn't unusual. It's exciting to get an entire episode on this hypnotic Decepticon, thanks.
Mindwipe is actually one of my favorite obscure transformers characters. I especially liked how, in the cartoon, they gave him a Bella Lugosi type accent.
Mindswipe was always the transformer toy that was cool enough for me to scrutinize the packaging but not enough to buy. Thanks for this episode. Brings back good memories!
I remember watching this guy in the original animated series, and over the years since then, I’ve never forgotten him. He’s been a very memorable character. Getting his titans return toy was an easy buy for me. (As well as the Dracula retooled toy as well)
One of my favourites! And he is one of the Cybertronians who opens up a whole other set of stories with the Transformers if wanted where they can explore the arcane side of things. I thought this was a nice touch.
I really appreciate this video because I'm getting ready to eventually run a pre-written adventure for the Transformers TTRPG for my friends where Mindwipe is the villain, and I am otherwise unfamiliar with the character.
Mindwipe was a character I immediately fell in love with when I first saw him in G1. And when I discovered he had a figure in the ROTF toy line I wanted him so badly. It took 14 years but I finally added Mindwipe to my collection.
The G1 Mindwipe toy's bat mode DEFINITELY looks like a giant Ratbat bootleg. I joked about it like mad when I was a kid (and my friends all agreed, which was one of the few times I didn't expect that to happen). Even has a similar color scheme, too... which makes it funnier.
Vorath: If I only had some energy-sensing equipment, we could easily find which one of them has the key! Mindwipe: Bah, what need have I of your scientific toys when I have my extrasensory powers!
FINALLY! That is definitely the episode that I have been waiting for: my fan-favorite Mindwipe! Thanks for this look on this mysterious self-proclaimed black magic Decepticon Chris. As anybody knows, my favorite version of Mindwipe is obviously in the Transformers Cyber Missions online shorts that I watched. I wished I would have had a toy of him from the Revenge of the Fallen toyline, but I regardless enjoyed his occasional appearances in recent Transformers media. Again, thank you so much for this look on one of my favorite Decepticons, since that is my long-awaited episode that I have been asking for. 😁👍👍👍 Next, I would like a look on Thunderwing the next time.
In my school vr game, Mindwipe was a prisoner to Ghost who escaped and in his mainstay mission called Hypnotic halloween (Slag you power rangers beast morphers that episode doesn't count) where he mind controlled Scream (from Marvel spider man 2) and has a very interesting boss fight where you as Goalius must drop Chandeliers on him once done 3 times he tries to escape but dies offscreen to Blitzwave and Razorfin
Don't forget, Titans Return Mindwipe was also retooled into the Transformers Collaborative Draculus figure, which is fitting since many know how fond the Count is of hypnotizing his victims 🧛♂️
Might not have been have important enough to include in the episode, but one recent appearance was as the Big Bad in the Transformers Roleplaying Game adventure The Time is Now, which incorporated the cartoon's contrast between Mindwipe's mysticism and Vorath's scientific outlook. In the adventure's story, Vorath mostly handles the practical applications of the super-targeted space bridge the technology the plot revolves around, while Mindwipe is only interested because he believes the ability to travel across time and space will allow him to contact the spirits of Cybertron's ancient past.
He also believes in the supernatural - which is something that 'cons who don't want him as a leader could exploit. Or maybe he's just content with being a big fish in a small pond.
Mindwipe: "We literally live on the left ass cheek of our Creator God, and fight his brother, a literal God of Chaos, every other Tuesday. Yet everyone thinks I'm crazy for believing in the paranormal. Fucking scrap! Starscream's Ghost is sitting right over there!" Starscream: "Hi there."
One of the interesting things about the latest molding for Mindwipe is that it was the mold they used for the Transformers X Dracula collaboration. Such a amazing transformer 🦇🦇
i had to wonder if Mindwipe trying to contact "the electromagnetic essences of long-dead Decepticons" would pay out eventually in him contacting Starscream's ghost, but alas.
I love watching these on my break when I am working on a Saturday. And when not working on a Saturday or anything other getting away. Stick the videos in the background while spending quality time with the collection 😊.
Anyone else notice how Mindwipe's fellow Skullcruncher is appearing more and more frequently nowadays? (Cyberverse, Earthspark, and a toy in Rise of the Beasts) I don't think he qualifies for his own Basics yet, but give future appearances in other stuff in a few years...
An idea for a new incarnation of Mindwipe would be to mike him a fuzor with his original bat form with a snake, (most likely a cobra with a rorschach pattern. The snake part was inspired by Kaa from the Jungle Book.
Heres to Mind Wipe! A perfect choice for Halloween! He may have only been in, what, 3 episodes? Yet was still mrmorable and a great addition to the team! Personally, i could see Mind Wipe as a deadly ally to Soundwave and Shockwave! He'd hypnotize their victims for intelligence, Soundwave would record, then Mindwipe would erase their mind! Kind of dark, but suitable for a character like this!😂
Transformers will be my next series I dive head first into. It's always interested me just have always been poor af so didn't have the chance to really. Thanks for putting all these great videos together
It's also worth noting that his 2016 mold was used as the Basis for 2021's Transformers X Dracula crossover figure, Draculus. Celebrating the 90th anniversary of Universal pictures Dracula 1931, Starring Bela Lugosi. Though, this figure was not a headmaster and sported a completely original head sculpt made to look like Dracula.
Great episode as always Chris, but I'd like to clarify a couple of points if I may? It wasn't so much that Japan went in a different direction with The Headmasters, it was more the other way around. The Headmasters Anime was produced to go alongside the release of the toys in Japan and it aired long before the American G1 "Rebirth". Also, he wasn't called Mindwipe in Japan, just Wipe. I'm assuming the Americans changed the name for somewhat obvious reasons! 😂 But I refer to my figures as Wipe as I always go with the original names. I personally much prefer the Japanese The Headmasters show as it makes far more sense than The Rebirth to me. Wipe and Bullhorn ended up being the last two Transformers I bought before I was told to "grow up" and I somehow managed to keep both from the great Car Boot Cull of my early teans. So glad as they're brilliant toys to this day! Cheers!
One of the 1st Head Master toys I got back in the day. Pleased to say I have him again Titans Return and another original G 1 toy! Now if I can get a movie toy as well.....must find a movie toy....must find one!!!
I don't know how wide spread this was, but a few years ago, Walmart rereleased 7 Titans Return Headmasters that were recoloured and repackaged in classic colours and packaging, the 7 were Mindwipe, Skullcruncher, Weirdwolf, Chromedome, Brainstorm, Highbrow, and Hardhead.
Mindwipe is on my long, long list of characters who need to be used in more mainstream media. Mix his Animated design with his ROTF toyline alt-mode and G1 personality. I could imagine him and Bludgeon being buddies
Watching this on Halloween and I can safely say that this is definitely a character who's about to get a lot more attention in some form of a TV show. Especially since Earthspark has definitely delved into controlling the bodies of Cybertronians it would be insane if they didn't at some point introduce the transformer character who's whole main distinction and character trait is mind control. Especially after what G.H.O.S.T has done before I can definitely see this guy potentially coming back as a main antagonist along with other scary monster or beast mode Decepticons. Maybe we'd even see him partner up with Steeljaw who in this take could pull from both his G1 Autobot portrayal and his 2015 R.I.D Decepticon portrayal. Moreso the Wolf appearance rather than the lion as that has probably become the more iconic appearance but it could pull from both characters. Maybe a conflicted former Autobot turned Decepticon who only sides with the other villains because he never fit in or was treated well as an Autobot and thus turned tail and betrayed them. But really he just wants a place to belong and a home for all bots who never fit in on Cybertron. Like his goal in 2015 R.I.D to make Earth a Decepticon home world for him to rule. But somewhere along the way he realizes that siding with Mindwipe is only harming his chances of finding peace and could end up in an epic final battle with Mindwipe. This also kinda works with the whole Werewolves vs. Vampires trope. Just some ideas since I really feel like Earthspark is taking a lot of ques from the Aligned Continuity and G1. Especially with the portrayal of certain characters like Breakdown and Bumblebee. You can definitely tell that had Breakdown not been written out and off that he would've had some sort of much larger long term role in Prime at least working alongside Team Prime but sadly real life issues came up and changed that. So it would be cool to see a more different new take on Steeljaw while taking big ques from the Aligned Continuity but I feel that would only work if Mindwipe were a sort of equivalent character who's a whole lot less noble in his goal compared to the take on Steeljaw in 2015. I just would really like to see these two battle and Steeljaw finally win a chance to have a place to belong and a home for outcasts while still not having to be a "good guy" but not a true villain like in 2015 where his actions aren't justified. Again countering that with Mindwipe who would be much less hesitant to use manipulation and dirty tactics and actually delighting in hurting others would make a nice contrast to a former Autobot turned Decepticon Steeljaw who only ever saw his violent actions and deception as a means to an end and actually wasn't comfortable with hurting others but saw it as strictly necessary for him to be happy and safe but would come around in the end. If not Earthspark I feel like there is still something here.
A side note: the titans return toy was also released 1 more time in the retro headmaster toy line although if possible my picks for the basics if possible I would like the basics on like maybe terosaur or metroplex or maybe one of the transformers the movie characters that we haven't done yet cause it has been a long while since the basics put the spotlight on a character from the movie like maybe kup wreak gar & the junkions either them or wheelie I definitely wonder what the basics on wheelie is all about

It is characters like this that allowed the transformers to transcend beyond just a toy brand. The lore is encompassing.
Draculus. not dracula. he's definitely dracula (hence the the crossover with universal) inspired but he isn't dracula.
