Fun fact about The Basics: One notable reoccurring quote you will hear on some of these videos are the bot who were "taken offline by a cosmically empowered Starscream" the event of this mass deactivation happened in the Marvel Comics issue 50, "Dark Star" 23 bots and 7 combiner teams were taken offline by Starscream during this rampage. This series has covered all of them, except for 6 bots, Bluestreak, Gears, Octane, Buzzsaw, First Aid, and Sunstreaker, and the group known as the Throttlebots, who were briefly mentioned in the Mini-Bots episode but have yet to receive a dedicated episode. Once we get videos on these 7, we will have the whole set. This fact is completely unrelated to this video, but this is the most recent episode, so why not.
Had the Tripredacus toy as a kid while my best friend had Magnaboss! Naturally we would make them battle! Never dawned on me as a kid that the Tripredacus Council were meant to be the same characters, probably because of their vastly different appearance in the cartoon. It is a shame that because of Beast Wars' budgetary restraints and the changeover of creative team in Beast Machines that we never quite found out what their grand scheme was in the original continuity, still I think for shady characters it works better leaving it up to the imagination! Sadly the only member of my original Tripredacus toy I was able to salvage was Sea Clamp, no idea what happened to the other two. I’ll just say the Maximals found them out and they were terminated while Sea Clamp made a run for it! 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
I stopped watching these like 4 years ago, then I remember Transformers faintly and then find you, 4 years later, still doing it. We are all better for it. That is commitment.
Huh. I never actually realized the Jointron combiner was supposed to be pronounced "triple-DAHkus". Only ever having read the name in text, I always figured it was just pronounced the same name as their Western counterpart but with the "r" sound swapped for the "l". 😅
As a Kid this was my favourite combiner/gestalt as it didn't brake apart when playing with it. So many good times !! Definitely a character that needs a revival and further development ❤. Great video thanks !!!
Great episode!! It’s been so long since seeing these guys in Beast Wars that I totally forgot about them. Loving the exclusive version of them for Bot Con too. Thanks again for all you do!
Here's my theory: The Tripredacus Council and to an extent, their maximal counterparts, is likely the consequence of the cybertronians meddling with the affairs of other sentient species. Earth is a no-fly zone, which implies that headmaster and pretender technology advanced far enough that both converged into the protoform technology used in the present day on top of a newer, smaller size to make them even more discreet with the locals, hence the gag in Beast Wars with Cheetor catching up to two other (justifiably spooked) cheetahs.
Say, that is a VERY interesting episode about this mysterious triumvirate from the Beast Wars era. Gotta say, I consider them somewhat my favorites, even though they appeared in ONLY ONE episode in the Beast Wars cartoon. 👍
I must have been in a creative tear that day. I imagined Tripredicus as a title rather than a name. Tripredicus was similar to a Roman Triumvirate. Any time you got 3 generals/warlords to agree to attack something other than each other you had a Tripredicus. Given how ego driven Decepticons and/or Predacons can be, this arrangement is uncommon and when it happens won't last long. Someone is always plotting something.
The Tripredicus counsel were name dropped in my school vr game as they in there combine form Predacus assisted the Triadian King, Magnus (not Ultra Magnus) in imprisoning which they continued buying there time but unfortunately we're ratted out by Megatron (Earthspark) and killed by Dinobot Grimlock
Gotta love the massive contrast between the Hasbro and Takara versions of Tripredacus. With Hasbro, you have this dark presence looming over both Maximal and Predacon alike, and realizing Megatron’s schemes as a threat to Predacon as well as Maximal. And then the writers of Beast Wars basically forgot about them entirely when writing Beast Machines. With Takara, you just have three schmucks singing La Cucaracha over and over again.
I had the hardest time getting Ramhorn back into robot form after combining the three! I didn't know the lore back then, however. I was about 11/12ish and i think the only place online was Starbase Rugby that i knew about, anyway.. This is an awesome upload for me. I read mostly everything printed in English amd know there's still a lot I'm going to learn! Thank you so much!
I got my Tripredacus down off the shelf while I was working on this one, and yeeeeah, Ram Horn is a tangle of limbs, isn't he? You never feel like he's *quite* together the right way in any one mode!
Haha! Exactly! I'd get him to resemble a beetle, and be like "eh. Good enough!" Kind of like transforming Earthrise Tracks into alt mode. The front end just never lines up like Raule just wrecked him into a pole. I always thought they were Quintesson in origin, btw. Kinda fits their sea like alt modes IMO..
Even though the hint at them being descended from Unicron wasn't meant to be taken literally, It's actually my favorite angle. Plus, it makes SO much sense for Tarantulas specifically
I always liked the idea that the Council and Tarantulas were descended from the G2 Cybertronians, to go with the idea that the Vok were future versions of the Swarm. Would make sense why Tarantulas was already so familiar with them.
The Tripredacus Councils or The Trypticon Councils *The Japanese dub name in the comedy of Beast Wars in Japan for them* waiting for the long waiting game when the Predacons will rise up for their Decepticons, but Beast Wars Megatron don't agree with them, so their got two members to hunt him, Decepticon become Beast Wars Ravage and Tarantulas. Idk what story they will show them very soon. Nice work.
I thought it would be more interesting if they had Quintesson origins, being a future iteration of that faction who were still plotting the downfall of everyone, predecons and maximals alike. I think that would really fit with Terantulus’s + the tri-predecus councils personalities.
I have both of them MagnaBoss and Tripredacus. I was not aware of the box set from Combiner Wars. Always liked this shadow council and what they could have done in BW cartoon.
I don't remember which episode, I think season 3, where Tarantulus mention that he and the Tripredacus Council were of Unicron origin so when the time stream got wiped, they weren't going to be affected. The Tripredacus Council did get named dropped often beyond Tarantulus and Ravage.
This was a really great and interesting video on The Pedicon Council. I really enjoyed finding out more about the council and the role that they played in the Transformers Universe, especially when we only got to see them appear in the first episode of Beast Wars for a brief scene.
This was awesome I always love beast wars always love your work🤘. say this came to mind, there can be a basics of broadside since theres not a video about him. It would be cool to have a basics about him.
I always thought and felt that they were descendants of the Quinticons who infiltrated, roses through the ranks, and influenced the Predacons. The Tri Predacus council enbeb up doing their jobs so well they either accidentally or intentionally adopted and merged the philosophies from both ancestry's into themselves and across the Predacon rack with mixed results.
I like to imagine the conflicting origin stories were the result of the Council spreading misinformation around and these resulting from conspiracy theories.
Oh I like that, though the Botcon version of the story seems more like something that rogue Preds like BW Megatron would come up with, especially if like Megatron they're really big on the faction's descent from the Decepticons.
When I went to botcon, I really wanted the predacus box set, but I couldn’t get it. But thankfully there was a board at the front of the convention hall, and someone didn’t want the box set, so I was able to buy it off them.
I'm honestly suprised that Hasbro hasn't made a comic detailing the Tripredacus council making their move on Cybertron after the events of Beast Machines.
One thing that makes me scratch my head when it comes to their origins is in their introductory episode with this line: "Generals, ever since the Autobots defeated our Decepticons ancestors, we Predacons have worked secretly, towards the day we might rise up and take what is rightfully ours." --Ram Horn He speaks like they're regular Predacons, and he's not saying this to anyone else; he speaks towards his fellow generals and them alone, who, if they were ancient Decepticons or spawns of Unicron, would be part of the conspiracy.
Y'know who's a Transformer I hope makes it into the next Obscure Characters Month? Blockrock/Flashback. He's the only Autobot redeco of Laserbeak that's not secretly evil like Sundor. Blaster deserves to have his bird show up in more stuff.

Those skidplate-smooching kow-towers would've been some of the first sparks Megatron tore out!
Small role, big impact, and a cool legacy. Such is the way of the Transformers franchise.
Unicron has already have enough heralds, so let these guys work for the G2 Decepticons.
Agreed! Hate when every tranformers universe makes everything ultimately about unicron. Especially since his goals are always so “lets do evil because im evil” two dimensional.
@@Getwright-You might be able to make it work if you made Unicron the embodiment of entropy or something like that. A necessary force that must exist, but needs to be kept in check.
Yeah Unicron seems like a REALLY big stretch so G2 decepticons should be the right one
Tripredacus council now in session.
I had Tripredacus growing up but had no idea that's who he was til watching this video
I honestly think that sea clamp would be a good rival to sea spray
Also i think a transforming lobster is just awesome
I love how the recent BW comic, (RIP), has them in their original toy colors, but the Hologram-device they were using casts them as red
0:17 These guys would make an awesome commander class toy!!!
Odd how we never saw them return in Beast Machines.
you can thank Fox Kids and Hasbro Execs
@@ShanaReviewsAnd Dan Didio!
@@jackofallclaws6672 how so because Dan's work with Reboot and Shadow Raiders gives him some credentials, plus Marv Wolfman was one of the writers for the series
@@ShanaReviews Because it was Dan Didio who told the writers of BM to not watch any episodes of BW.
I often forget the Guy who hates Dick Grayson being Nightwing used to be with Transformers...
Beast Wars content is always great!
So basically the Autobot version of the group were like the Mexicools
Great video Chris and that takes me back I used to have Tripredacus and Magnaboss I got both as birthday gifts as a kid and had great time playing with them and I wouldn’t mind if we gotten new toys of them in the TF Legacy toyline but that’s a big “IF” but all and all I had great childhood memories.
Cool Beans! I’ve always enjoyed classic Transformers box art. These guys look great! Great Stuff, as always!
I loved the Jointrons in Beast Wars II, they always find a way to be funny
Tripredacus was my first Beast Wars toy and I still have them though Cecadacons clear plastic swords have broken.
The commercial has the jointrons call it that too.
(Also its the least serious TF commercial ive ever seen, I can't take it seriously!)
I think it's just a retcon to give the Japanese mispronounced name some credence and/or to help differentiate this as a new name.
@@gabrielchee8470 You can take TF commercials seriously? Well maybe if it was the Japanese Animated commerical.
@@ondururagittandeska2004 yeah but that commercial is goofier than normal
As a Kid this was my favourite combiner/gestalt as it didn't brake apart when playing with it. So many good times !! Definitely a character that needs a revival and further development ❤. Great video thanks !!!
Great episode!! It’s been so long since seeing these guys in Beast Wars that I totally forgot about them. Loving the exclusive version of them for Bot Con too. Thanks again for all you do!
Sea Clamp looks like he wants you to return the slab.
I did not know about the Japanese version of these guys. Crazy stuff! Awesome video!
Thank you for this video. Your work is always amazing.
Say, that is a VERY interesting episode about this mysterious triumvirate from the Beast Wars era. Gotta say, I consider them somewhat my favorites, even though they appeared in ONLY ONE episode in the Beast Wars cartoon. 👍
In the Latin American dub, we got their names said out loud, so I thought that Predacons turned into animals, even if they hadn't visited Earth.
Someone is always plotting something.
man, beast wars is so much deeper than we thought, maybe one day we´ll have some more cybertronian history source
Not really part of the tripredacus council but there was concept art made for Ramhorn in Rise of the Beasts.
Really interesting! Thanks!
I love how a cicada, a beetle, and a lobster rule over a dinosaur.
Thats a pretty big contrast between east and west!
The coolest villains yet their mystery is even bigger than owning a rare unopened Japanese TF toy.
I Was 5 or 6 when beastwars was on tv; was so excited when they showed the council just to never see them again 😅
It's great to hear more about these guys, thanks 😊
Love this! Keep going it's great! 🙂
Awesome episode Chris!👏🏻
Fantastic video and story 👍👍👍👍👍👍
What?! In japan they turned these guys into dancers and goofs from shadowlord government. Now I did not see that coming.😂
The jointrons are just the best. Seriously the best. Reissue of tripledacs when? Incoude the mariachi costumes and props as well thanks hasbro
I would like a take that combines their older takes together.
I always liked the idea that the Council and Tarantulas were descended from the G2 Cybertronians, to go with the idea that the Vok were future versions of the Swarm. Would make sense why Tarantulas was already so familiar with them.
The three most powerful Predacons. And they're two insects and a crustacean.
I always wished they were dinosaurs or other reptiles
4:20 I, too, can melt anything with my super-heated horn
I own an original Sea Clamp and Ramhorn, I'm trying to track down Cicadacon but I'm not having much luck.
I AM GOING TO TFNATION FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR!
(Great video)
Heck yeah, see you there!
@@ChrisMcFeely I will say hello
0:40 Also known as a Kabuto beetle *clock up*
The Tripredacus Councils or The Trypticon Councils *The Japanese dub name in the comedy of Beast Wars in Japan for them* waiting for the long waiting game when the Predacons will rise up for their Decepticons, but Beast Wars Megatron don't agree with them, so their got two members to hunt him, Decepticon become Beast Wars Ravage and Tarantulas.
When I told a friend about the Jointrons and what they were like, he looked at me in confusion because of how strange they were.
I like the Unicron angle.
Here's hoping one day we get some new toys of these guys and magnaboss
I love the personalities and parties of the Japanese version! They were pretty funny
With the release of the commander class Magmatron I would love to see them make a commander class Tripredicus/Tripledacus and Magnaboss
It's hilarious for the western version of Beast Wars that the Trippeticous Council had animal mode to protect them from energion. 😆
4:14 I actually fucking died right here 😂
I like to imagine the conflicting origin stories were the result of the Council spreading misinformation around and these resulting from conspiracy theories.
Oh I like that, though the Botcon version of the story seems more like something that rogue Preds like BW Megatron would come up with, especially if like Megatron they're really big on the faction's descent from the Decepticons.
I would love to see a Basics on Silverbolt
I always liked the idea that they and their top mole are Unicorn spawns. But not under his will.
When I went to botcon, I really wanted the predacus box set, but I couldn’t get it. But thankfully there was a board at the front of the convention hall, and someone didn’t want the box set, so I was able to buy it off them.
What a coincidence! I play the Earth Wars mobile game and just a couple days ago unlocked Tripredicus as a combiner.
Getting a new Transformers toy in 3, 2, 1……..
I'm honestly suprised that Hasbro hasn't made a comic detailing the Tripredacus council making their move on Cybertron after the events of Beast Machines.
You should do the basics on magnaboss
Not soon, but definitely eventually!
@@ChrisMcFeely You should really do the basics on bluestreak/gears/fixit/heatwave and bonecrusher/brawl/lugnut clobber/and skullcruncher😁👍
One thing that makes me scratch my head when it comes to their origins is in their introductory episode with this line:
"Generals, ever since the Autobots defeated our Decepticons ancestors, we Predacons have worked secretly, towards the day we might rise up and take what is rightfully ours." --Ram Horn
He speaks like they're regular Predacons, and he's not saying this to anyone else; he speaks towards his fellow generals and them alone, who, if they were ancient Decepticons or spawns of Unicron, would be part of the conspiracy.
My head canon was that they were Quintassons plotting to retake Cybertron
I hope soon we can get them in the legacy line
They look so damn goofy in that dark room with the swinging light.
Y'know who's a Transformer I hope makes it into the next Obscure Characters Month?
Blockrock/Flashback. He's the only Autobot redeco of Laserbeak that's not secretly evil like Sundor. Blaster deserves to have his bird show up in more stuff.
Cicadacon: "Make them cry."
