The fact that they called thrust by "squid head" in armada like the name "conehead" who it was created by fans, make it even funnier
Yep 😂. I Was About To Say This 😂
They even mention the term "cone head" by name in Armada
Hello again, toa of ice
@@angusmcnay5449 dude stop being a squid head
Honestly the joke didn't really stick with me until megatron started calling him that as well
I like how Chris though that Thrust from the Bumblebee movie was Acid Storm, but eventually learned that this supposed “Acid Storm” was actually Thrust instead
Armada thrust is probably the best version of the character,he got the unique g1 conehead design and alt mod,he got the original g1 thrust personality, his death was brutal and funny at the same Time honestly
Armada Thrust was pretty cool. He was kind of like G1 Starscream
Love that Squidhead! 🦑
@@THANATOS-PRIME Well, yeah how about I call Megatron flat-head?
It was also a bit of Poetic Justice: A bot who cared not for others, slain by one who cared not for him.
@@A88mph and even more ironic, starscream was the first to suspect thrust of being a traitor
It's funny how in TF Armada Thrust is actually Starscream and Starscream is actually Dinobot (personality wise)
Mmm, yes and no. Both are typical cowardly assholes with thirst for power. That being said, Starscream is rather powerful despite his flaws and much more individualistic whereas Thrust is a bit of a flunky and prone to leech behavior.
Case in point, whereas Thrust was lured by Sideways to become Unicron's ally he contently bowed to his new master as rely on him for everything. Starscream meanwhile made an alliance with Unicron to get a new body but at the very time he got what he wanted Starscream quickly throw Unicron under the bus. Sure, Unicron was weakened as a head, but given the chance Starscream would have still tried to find a way to betray Unicron nonetheless.
Thrust it's also trusted by Megatron at first with no riffs, once again Thrust for all his strategic accumen has no real stand power and ultimately only betray his master after finding a new more powerful one. Starscream meanwhile would only grovel if his life depends on it since the seeker never had compunctions about critizicing Megatron's leadership and as such Megatron always treated him (admittedly not totally undeserved) as shit, and for Starscream there's no factions or masters above him, he's totally all for himself.
@@clownplayer7265 Juan Lera was talking about how armada starscream was basically dinobot
@@jakealter5504 Yeah, but I wasn't talking about Armada Starscream. I was comparing Armada Thrust with G1 Starscream.
@@clownplayer7265 I do agree that armada thrust is very similar to g1 starscream, thrust was just a bit smarter
@@jakealter5504 Emm, again, debatable. G1 Starscream was a scientist before the war and even gave Megatron medical attention. Thrust meanwhile is more of a military strategists. Starscream made ocasional observations about Megatron's plans often going to fail and is deceitfully good at picking up stuff no one would expect, like for example quickly understanding the sub-atlanticans were bad news. Thrust meanwhile is more of a manipulator instead of a schemer, sweet talking Megatron and taking advantage of his boss' blindness to the Unicron problem.
It's more like being masters at different areas.
If Thrust appeared in Transformers Animated, he'd have represented Starscream's aggression while Dirge would've represented his greed.
Remember when we all thought the green Seeker from the Bumblebee movie was actually Acid Storm, but it wasn’t until later when the concept art was revealed that we found out he was based on Squidhead?
1st the Starscream and Blitzwing getting mixed up, now this.
@@DarkknightChris I think the Starscream thing was a mistake. I expect the scene was already made, then veto'd by Hasbro or something.
"Yeah, you can't kill Starscream at this point. Give him another name. Some throwaway like Blitzwing or something"
@@martl8615 I've always head-Canon/ theorized that at some point after the events of bumblebee that shockwave or some other decepticon scientist would somehow manage to revive him using the other two deceased decepticons thus giving us the spilt personality he's known for
@@loser-2099 That would actually be cool if they did that
@@lumethecrow2632 And give some meaning behind his Nitro Series toy.
I believe I read an old interview with Floro Dery that the "coneheads" were one of his first design contributions to the transformers, as a way to distinguish Thrust, Ramjet, and Dirge from the first generation of seekers
G1 Thrust was the only original seeker that I had as a kid, and I always liked the VTOL jet design he has.
In case anyone’s wondering, Thrust did appear in IDW’s comics, but it was not a major role. He was one of the Decepticons left behind on Earth after Megatron’s failed invasion, and he was executed by government organization Skywatch. His remains, along with Ramjet’s, would be used as templates for a human built army of zombie-like clones.
"Trust if you dare to have dreams of power... You will be consumed by them."
Armada Thrust was my first Decepticon and second Transformers figure after Beast Machines Scavenger so ive always like him. Beast Machines Thrust is also a nice version.
“If you dare to have dreams of power you will be consumed by them.”
The WFC Earthrise figure is literally the hardest toy of him to get.
agree. it is very difficult to find in indonesia as well :'(
@@azura6366 well, I did find someone on Facebook who offered me $60usd for him plus Netflix Hotlink for $60usd as well. He’s holding on to them for me until the 4th of June.
@@alxporrini8563 damn you are so lucky bro, in Indonesia i only find in 1 store and its very expensive 😔
I need all three of the coneheads from that series for stopmotion projects, plus maybe G2 Sandstorm as a fourth.
@@bradtobin839 You have better luck getting G2 Sandstorm. He's $32 on Big Bad Toy Store.
Additionally, Armada Thrust was based on the F-35, as evidenced by his mid-fuselage turbine.
Yup, funny how Armada was ahead of it's time in alot of ways.
fun fact about thrust in transformers the movie, there was a cut scene of him getting his head shoved into the floor by Optimus, which is why the cut aways for the startup of the fight between Prime and Megatron looks a little off.
my favorite was definitely the overly arrogant version from Armada. I loved that he got his rude awakening and comeuppance all at once
Armada Thrust is my favorite, he has so much personality, especially compared to his counterparts.
Evolution of thurst:
9:03
G1 to beast era (0:18-3:34-4:40-9:51-9:58)
The unicron trilogy/micron trilogy (6:36)
The transformers franchise reboot (9:47/9:39)
Cyber Verse/evergreen (9:30)
Grand Galvatron (8:33/8:36)
For some reason the original G1 Thrust was my favorite seeker toy as a child, probably because of the VTOL gimmick. I really hope they make an MP-52+ of Thrust.
Waspinator never gets what Waspinator wants!
With the UT characters finally getting some more love, I'm hoping that we'll see a Legacy Armada Thrust eventually, because I've always dug his design and color scheme, especially the squidhead.
yeah, he was a nice take on a jet, that we only saw one other time for the bayverse game as a generic trooper
Armada Thrust was my first ever Transformers figure.
Armada Thrust's death scene is hilarious. "Haha, with the power of Unicron I can overthrow Megatron and conquer the galaxy - HELP ME MEGATRON"
Was it not Galvatron
@@fulltilt7270 Megatron in the Japanese release. Galvatron for the English dub.
Woah, what's the deal with the creepy black-faced/no-faced Hoist at 0:23 in the TV spot?
Probably just a prototype with black instead of silver on the faceplate... or maybe even just bad lighting!
So many that they could form the Thrustice League
As a kid watching the cartoon it always stood out to me that he was one of a few G1 Decepticon that didnt have red eyes.
I never knew they were called the cones heads. I remember as a child hating that appearence. But in time it grew on me.
Thank you again for the infirnitive video.
Someone might have mentioned this, but Beast Machines Thrust got one more toy that wasn't mentioned in the video: the Vehicle Drone was redecoed in Japan for Beast Wars Returns rather than his original toy. It's a very minor redeco at that - the plastic is about the same shade of magenta, and the translucenct yellow is only a bit darker, plus a couple of paint applications were added.
All Japanese reissue toys had different shades and additional detailing. It's not really worth mentioning for a basic
Armada Thrust is by far the best version of the character
Fun fact in transformers devastation the level 2 type of seekers are identical to thrust and are based off g1 thrusts design
You should do Dirge next and later Ramjet. You know because the cone heads are always considered a trio and that’s the order people say their names.
I'd love to see Dirge for sure. Ramjet, notsomuch, but if you have to do Thrust and Dirge, Ramjet is inevitable.
Thrust will always be one of my favourite Armada characters. He's a sleazy goofball who not only WANTS to kill you, but can come up with multiple ways HOW. And for some reason, that's kinda scary.
Never had a toy or really paid a lot of attention to him in what G1 I saw, but Thrust was a (self) named character in The Golden Lagoon, my first TF exposure ever and still my favorite singular story, so I automatically have a fondness for him.
Thanks!
Armada Thrust is possibly the best out of all of them, purely because he's different from the rest. A cold, tactical warrior.
Amen to that!
Agreed 100%.
With the most gruesome death
Squid head was one of my favorite characters in Armada
Squidhead’s quirks were amusing. Almost as amusing when his arrogance caused his crushing defeat. However I like the bikerbot version too, before and after becoming Thrustinator.
8:10 Thrust, if you dare to have dreams of power.
8:14 YOU WILL BE CONSUMED BY THEM.
8:10-8:14
Apparently Cyberverse Thrust was originally gonna return as a conehead later in to the show after his death, but it was ultimately scrapped.
Too bad. Cyberverse was a fun show. It got better after S1
Yeah. Poor guy, the seekers were underused after Starscream used the power of the allspark to kill most of the named ones.
I love the Armada-inspired Thrust from the Bumblebee movie, the mold itself is amazing. I hope we get a new Armada Thrust in Legacy or the next toyline, he deserves some love already.
I honestly wouldn't mind If some future interpretation of the character combines his G1 and Armada depictions into one.
Imagine Thrust that initially starts out as another regular seeker, under command of Starscream, with his Armada color scheme but design that's a bit of a blend of Armada and G1. But unlike Armada Thrust that acts as your classic Megatron bootlicker, this version could be a Starscream supporter and his biggest fanatic (since I don't think we've seen much of that personality type in media). This could even be highlighted, with him eventually deciding to change his Armada color scheme to his traditional G1 color scheme, as a way to be "color-coordinated" with his commander...Maybe even bringing this to a point where, when Starscream temporary seize leadership over Decepticons, he promotes Thrust, as his second-in-command.
Thank you for staying on my ted talk.
7:08/7:11 Who was voiced by Colin Murdoch, known for voicing Predacon cowboy Quickstrike from Beast Wars.
7:08-7:11
Great video! I hope you do "The Basics " on the other cone head jets. 👍🏽
It would be refreshing to have him back in a more commanding role with his scheming persona. It would be a nice change of pace from having Starscream be the schemer.
Armada Thrust was already an arrogant jerk so combining that with his G1 personality as a sadistic goon makes sense. A sociopathic, abrasive tactician who gets his kicks from the misery he causes.
G1 Thrust is my favorite seeker his look is so cool and unique compared to the others
Armada Thrust had the best death. You can argue which one was the best Thrust. But that fitting end and Galvatron’s speech was in the top 10 moments from all of the Unicron Trilogy. Maybe even top 5
The Basics on:
1. The Transformers Multiverse
2. The History of Transformers Video Games
3. Machine Wars
4. TransTech
5. Generation 2
6. Transformers Crossovers
That's a great idea, mate.😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Would you consider a video specifically on the Transformers Legends manga? As I recall, it went to great lengths to try to fix plot holes, errors and inconsistencies throughout the franchise, which I find to be very interesting.
Man I love this channel
When the coneheads first came out, I really wanted thrust. I liked that he was completely different (along with all of the other coneheads) from the original seekers. And the fact that he was VTOL was one of my favorite design features on him. Unfortunately for Christmas that year, my parents got ramjet instead instead of what I really wanted. But despite being a little bit disappointed, I was still fine with getting a Seeker.
the crushing feeling of "more than close enough but not quite". something we TF fan knows very well...
Mr McFeely I wanted to thank you for doing these and always giving us info on even the most obscure bots
In my school vr game thrust was a boss where to defeat him you need to blast him out of the sky's and in a cutseen he landed on unicron shoulder when was going to robot mode which unicron was jammed by decepticon calamity weapon Goalius who destroyed unicron t cog and ultimately thrust was killed by the barbatos lupas rex a gundam that was fighting goalius and fyi he was goalius old Cybertronian caretaker for goalius during the big guys surgery and was in his flashbacks and he gave goalius his invisible clock from armada
'Remember Thrust if you have dreams for power, you will be consumed by them.'
Eyy. An episode on Squidhead.
the Beast machines version is the best one at the personality, his speech about loyallity was great and unique, his design was great and the color scheme works pretty well with him,i wish if we Can see a New beast machines thrust
I wish i could see anything related to Beast Machines! Like some show accurate toys, or anything! Come on Hasbro!!
Armada Thrust was probably the best version of the character, at least in terms of personality/characterization. Pretty good video as always, Chris. Hopefully, we'll see the other coneheads and Powerglide get covered in the future
So Close!
@@explodingdynamite7319 Huh?
“Squid head” I prefer to call thrust cone head
I must say that I love the Bumblebee movie SS Thrust figure!
I wanted to know more about G1 Thrust seeing his BM counterpart was named after him but after watching G1, he was mostly a generic seeker. His Armada counterpart was neat memorial character.
Can you do an episode of the Witwicky family or the movie's expanded universe?
Was kinda hoping there'd be some explanation behind his unique wing design. Same thing with Ramjet and Dirge with their delta wing and canards design. The "Royal Eagle" never got off the drawing board. And I've no idea what Thrust is supposed to be. 😅
Interesting. Thanks. G1 is my favorite. Trust in Thrust to be there is a good line.
the fact that beast machines thrust/waspinator doesnt complain and love to be as a motorbike drone is something he wants
shame it gets taken away at the end unfortunately
Armada Thrust in the Dreamwave comics was Quickstrike lite.
The Titanium repaint of Thrust is a personal favorite. A beautiful figure.
I was thinking about The Basics on.
I have a theory why does he have a conehead. You see, he was introduced in second season and in second season characters have more toy accurate build. I think they decided to do same aproach here, but holding the cone upwards so his head would be rotatable. He also has yellow eyes, like the original toy
Either that or purely based on the issue of stability at the hip joints. I guess we would have to chat with the art designers for the scoop...
I didn't know about the toy head looking more like the original three. I loved the new jets as they arrived under the rule of Straxus, I thought they were a great addition to bolter the flagging Cons forces. I liked the individual abilities of each of the jets. Hard to choose the best one.
Still own (most of) my G1 thrust.
If any new series were to reuse his Armada personality, I could easily see a plotline like what was seen between the Chamberlain and the General in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
Starscream finishing off a mortally wounded Thrust,
Thrust: Why?
Starscream: Because you took my seat. Now I'm reclaiming it.
And later when the aftermath,
Starscream: Thrust suffered fatal wounds, I was there so he wasn't alone when he succumbed to them.
I would love to see a basics on lug nut please
Honestly, thrustinator was one of the most fun ideas and i imagine hardest work that came out of the collector's club.
Ridiculous name, though. :)
Armada Thrust is like the Hazama of transformers
Armada Thrust is my favorite, but BWII Thrust gets points for having his vehicle mode and beast mode both be raptors.
I've only seen Beast Machines and Armada Thrust.
And out of the 2, Armada Thrust is my favorite.
Indeed. I always wanted his toy when I was a kid, but I wound up with a very scant collection of Decepticons. Cyclonus and Megatron alone IIRC.
@@zuttoaragi8349 Honestly, I never got any of the Armada Toyline, except for Tidal Wave a few years later. Then my dad gave all my Transformers toys away. Now I'm trying to rebuild by collection with current figures from the War for Cybertron Trilogy, plus a few others. Mostly picking my favorites.
@@nine_tails137 I'm sort of doing that. I spent a few years building a CHUG collection, but then suddenly I've gotten the itch for Armada figures and I've put together almost the entire thing. Almost every character that appeared in the show except a couple.
@@zuttoaragi8349 Believe it or not, I heard one youtube reviewer bought armada Optimus Prime, and the toy caught fire. Which honestly, makes me glad I never got that toy. But I still miss not owning any Armada toys as a kid.
@@nine_tails137 That happened to a friend of mine. I was lucky enough for it not to happen to my original Prime, and my new one just straight up doesn't work, so I don't think that's a concern, knock on wood.
Ah, Thrust, the best and my own personal favorite Conehead.
Beast Machines and Armada version of Thrust are my favorites !
Only thing I would add about thrust was how in the IDW comics, he was one of the few transformers killed by humans. After getting caught in the rubble of a collapsing building, the humans set the building on fire and he burned to death. Then His and Ramjets bodies were then used to make an army of clones by either skywatch or the EDC (I forget which)
The Comedy Duo are so good in BW2.
When are we getting an episode on Beast Machines I love that show and still got the box sets also I couldn’t find if there is an episode on Beast Wars I would love that as well as that’s my favourite transformers show
I do like they reference thrust from armada in the Bumblebee movie
And he was killed by humans in the IDW comics. Tht was his whole character arc there.
I mean, so did Scrapper in IDW, and Scrapper is a helluva more competent and important.
I really disagreed with killing Thrust that early into the run, and in that particular way.
Armada "Squidhead" Thrust has to be my favorite incarnation of the character. I just love how he was hyped up to be this devious military tactician but he's honestly pretty pathetic. No one likes him, everyone teases him, even the freaking children manage to get the better of him in the episode where they try to hide the Requiem Blaster using nothing but their homemade traps.
Also his dub voice is actually pretty good. And if you hunt down the Micron Legend fan sub edition of the show, he has the snooty 'anime noble woman laugh' which is hilarious.
Armada Thrust, is my favorite version of the character.
Those are my favorite alien species in transformers besides the tranformers
I always like to think of Armada Thrust as essentially Decepticon Tarantulas
No mention of Thrust's Marvel UK role as one of the Decepticon's "ten deadliest killers", along with the other Coneheads, the Insecticons, the Triple-Changers, and that bastard Macabre?
Not every character gets to be an A-Lister, but it's nice to know there's always recurring faces in the background.
Thrust is constantly having to "thrust" himself into the spotlight to stand out over both his fellow Coneheads and Seekers.
I am surprised you did not mention his little part in the golden lagoon the g o l d e n l a g o o n
I Want that as botcon coin "Trust in Thrust"
Megatron nicknamed armada thrust as "squidhead" do perfectlly matches with armada thrust design, his head do looked like a squid 😂
I don't give a damn for the G1 version. Beast Machine and Armada's are the one to go.
Also Thrust saved in G1 the universe by immobilising the possessed Trypticon.
TF Evolution of thurst:

G1 to beast era (0:18-3:34-4:40-9:51-9:58)
The unicron trilogy/micron trilogy (6:36)
The transformers franchise reboot (9:47/9:39)
Cyber Verse/evergreen (9:30)
Grand Galvatron (8:33/8:36)
Great Stuff, as always!
3:14 That lines up exactly with my own idea. In my headcanon I figured all the new Decepticons we saw that had no explanation had been recovered from the Nemesis after the episode "Microbots."
Great episode bro. I love his G1 figure and I feature him in my recent transformer review vid (part 6 STARSCREAM). keep up the good work.
You know what this means. Now that we've seen Thrust, Dirge and Ramjet will surely follow!
Ahh… armada thrust, The best version of the character in my opinion I feel like there should be more versions of thrust like that. Though i wonder am i the only one that wished that victory, super god masterforce, beast wars 2nd, And beast wars neo got great English dubs and aired in the us?
I always thought both Dirge and Thrust remind me a lot of Billy Lee and Jimmy Lee from Double Dragon.
5:25, a pretty good theory and mystery when I first watched the show.
6:06, though some of the toys in BM was pretty cool. Avoid the Maximals toys like the plague sans the techno looking Maximals like Primal Prime, NightViper, Hammerstrike.
8:36, a.k.a Gal-Voltron.
9:47, that's him?!
5:25-9:47
