This walk-thru was very enlightening. These are nice, new features, but they're not all that discoverable. Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
Google maps still is light years beyond this. They have topo maps for hiking, and, for example, Los Padres National Forest in CA has tons of hiking trails. Even the campgrounds don't show up in Maps, and when I do the trail search from NY it automatically repositions me to NY instead of CA although I had Fillmore or Ojai onscreen. The only really helpful new feature is the ability to download a map. Google maps was able to tell me distances on hiking trails several years ago.
Dan, your videos are very clear and most welcome. I do find Apple Maps oddly awkward ... or maybe I have missed something! To have a set of favourite places seems to need several steps (Guide >> Favourites). Creating routes requires zooming in to very specific points otherwise Apple directs you to nearby businesses. Thanks for your tutorials.
While I mainly use Google Maps for a basic reason. Apple Maps directed me to do an "illegal turn" during directions. Your step-by-step tutorial was visually clear & easy to understand. I'm hoping Apple Maps will use AI to incorporate State driving laws into routine driving directions. The law Apple Maps missed was in my state, most turns off major roadways are only right turns because left turns are more dangerous. Think about it. When you make a left turn, your vehicle is crossing on coming traffic, but a right turn is a merge to only traffic coming towards you. I look forward to more of your tutorials.
I've been hoping for a way to edit the routes that Apple maps generates for some time now. The create-your-own-route feature is a partial solution, but doesn't quite solve the problem.
Great tutorial. You speak clearly and slowly enough that it's easy to follow your instructions without having to back up and repeat sections! Good teacher! Thank you!
Can we say wash, repeat, and rinse? I feel like I wasted a portion of my life because we had to repeat the same phrase "this is new" about the same subject a dozen times. Stopped watching at 2 minutes. Not even speeding the video would help this.
Is there a way to have Siri repeat the most recent direction (like it did a couple of versions ago)? This feature disappeared in IOS 15. And has not returned. Thanks!
I was able to pin 📌 my car to the map library. However, it looks like a pin 📌 not a car like it shows in the map. Home & work have their separate pictures. How do I get a car picture to get pinned
Very clear presentation and at a pace than gives you a chance to follow it.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent! Best I seen and a tremendous help for me! Thanks
You’re welcome! I’m glad it was helpful! 😊

Thank you, and yes, as Apple adds more features, they are less discoverable. 😊

Excellent
Glad you liked it!
A great video, thank you. I’m a bit underwhelmed with Apple maps honest.
I hear you! Some of the new features aren’t groundbreaking, but they’re nice additions. 😊
Great video. Thanks for the tips!!
I'm glad you found them helpful!
Is it possible to create a route by walking it (or driving it).

Thanks Dan for your video's on iOS and Apple knowledge. I checked out your website too. Love it. Hi from Canada.
I’m glad you like the website and appreciate the love from Canada! 😊

Can a route be saved once you have driven it?

Dan, how can you add a location on Apple Maps that other people can see? For example, if I start a business and want to promote it, how do I do this?

Cool video. Your route just for walk, I try to create a 3 hours driving route have all points for stops would dropping pins work?

First thing i do when i reset my iphone. Delete maps and notes app. Replace them with google keep and google maps
@@coldstone87 my condolences
@@coldstone87 Your loss.
Man, so much hate for anything Apple, not just this but any and everything…amazing!

It is still running what my wife and I call Dumb Dumb not Tom Tom. I hope one day it will compete with Google Maps.
New features are completely USELESS.
apple maps is about as useful as a needle magnet and leaf filled with spit
Apple maps is absolutely appalling.
Then don’t use it.
