It's not hard to learn but it depends on the person I guess. I've been riding since I was 5 and I'm 46 now. It took about a year before I started riding well.
@ yeah I ride of course I don't jump triples but I go balls out in the desert and enjoy a challenging hill climb, trails and such. Riding is the only time I feel no pain. Must be the endorphins.
This makes me feel special. I got a whole red plated complete 2007 yz450f with complete motor and everything (not blown up) just missing a chain for $300.00
As an eBay seller and buyer, I know that the bottom end alone is commonly sold for $500 and I got the whole bottom end plus a lot of other parts, some of which I have already sold. I did my research
You can get that cylinder sleeved which is about 200 at a machine shop. You strip it down and give them the sleeve and a pistion and its 100% good again
@@tattoojunk666 yeah for that roller 500 is max, we own a shop buy sell repair all kinds of race quads bikes and sleds, the 4 strokes are very expensive when they go lots of people going back to 2 strokes because of that

You can get the cylinder replated for $200. Powerseal USA does them. And they do really good work. Your cylinder will be like brand new when they give it back to you.
Probably some valve guides and new camshafts mounts that match and are sold with the head. Ive seen many people having the intake side seized because the 6 bolts were not tighten properly on periodic valve jobs, it's now the begining of the end. Get a good new head it's not worthy to fix it. Order yourself a cylinder works kit or a wrench rabbit complete rebuild kit with all the bearings. That's the best affordable option you have, if your are serious about racing this bike that has already good suspension setup. Don't be cheap on little things, ride safe and never hesitate to grab a gear or pull a rev-limiter in doubt of a bad landing in a high speed jump.
Also while you're at it you should split the cases to make sure there's no damage and replace the crank bearings. And check the crank to make sure it's good.
Good luck on the build my man! Hope your motor build goes better than mine did for my 2005 yfz450. Bought it in totes and thats the last time i buy a basket case! Was told i had way more parts in the tote than i did lol. But finally after like 6 months of slowly piecing it together and ordering different parts for it i now have a stage 2 stroker kit with a 501 big bore kit and aftermarket everything on it and inside of the motor lol. Good luck man and look at alot of diagrams! I was missing little gears, spacer rings, c clips, bearings, just all kinds of little shit you wouldnt really notice til its back together and grenades again lol
Don't lose heart my friend. Even if it does cost a bit more than you thought to put right, it's all about lifes lessons weather they be good or bad. Checkout DIY Gang, he got a lot of negative comments about the burnt out Hellcat he bought but he showed all the doubters and haters it can be done!
Oh boy can't wait to see what you're doing to this one. Maybe make something more with the J&B weld and solder... Or you could try using epoxy this time.
Nope, no jb weld or epoxy on this one. I actually think I'm gonna take it easy, put the hammer down, and leave the cases intact. I'm just hoping some people will learn from my mistakes, because I definitely do!
I got a 2008 yz450f for 980$ it has a left broken case because it didnt have a case saver, and the rear hub was also broken, got a new case for 220 and I had a spare rim laying around everything else is good it runs excellent has some upgrades tooo so I got a good bike for 1200 once I replace the case, I'm only 15
sweet deal man, kool , you found a engine. of course if it would have came equipped and able to idle, you would still have to disassemble it to see if any parts needed to be changed out and replaced. . . so at least there is no time wasted on tearing it down. most of it is already done for you. at the ending , you mentioned that it would make for a good mountain bike. . . how about goofing around and build a center crank and put a chain on it, then taking it for a spin. You need a new timing chain also that ones done, you'll be in the head alone for at least 500 the seats should be re cut to match the new valves plus cams buckets springs seals gaskets and at least 1 new valve guide, clean bike though its worth fixing and keeping or trade up
I purchased a good condition fully running 1990 YZ250 for £500 I raced it every weekend for a year & sold it for £500 There's a reason 4 strokes end up as rolling chassis donors for 2 stroke engines - they are heavy, unreliable & expensive to repair time bombs.
Not to mention Yamaha makes the stupid 5 valve and there so expensive to replace the valves and springs with quailty. Man I feel hella sorry for ya. Ur gonna be deep into this bike so deep u might get to keep it
Somebody didn't take care of it lol. It could have jumped a tooth or two on the crankshaft if the cam chain was loose enough which causes a whole boat load of shit. Yeah he really did say the bottom end was fine, but do I believe him? No, not one bit lol. I will be splitting the case just to check things out just in case the bottom end really isn't fine. where do you people live?!? that bike as a crate of parts would be $8-900 where i am. i'm getting ready to buy a yz125 that has no title, and serious issues, but runs for $600 because it is the cheapest off road bike i can find. good ones start at $1800, and go up from there. i sold my xt225 over the winter, and i'm kicking myself for it ever since. now i know why he offered me what i thought was a crazy price so i took it.
Worth 2k 2100 tops sold a 06 crf250r dual exhaust model for 2150$ 7+ years ago 1600-1900$ realistically... cases are the most expensive part like 300-700$ depending on bike but I think you over payed a little on that engine bud ! But good luck 🍀
