I met a guy who wanted to be shaggy and did the facial hair and the voice non stop. His girlfriend was very annoyed and when I pointed out that he was probably into her because she looked so much like Daphne she nearly lost it.
Theory: Scooby and Shaggy are tone-deaf to hypnosis that makes sound, this is why normal hypnosis and the ghost band in mystery incorporated couldn’t control them, but since the phantosaur hypnosis was different because it relied on visuals instead of audio. This is also mentioned in that mystery incorporated where shaggy says “We can’t hear music, it’s all just sound to us”
@@MarxSoul2001 I've read about that disorder in a book by Oliver Sachs. There was a case where this woman hated going to musicals because the singing and music sounded like a clattering of pots and pans to her.
It's like a horror movie trope that stoners can see through the lies, or being oddly perceptive despite them being portrayed as idiots. See: Cabin in the Woods.
it was a weird side plot in the third act. somehow, while running from Velma's mummy army, Shaggy and Scooby get swept up in a current that takes them to a "lost city" that thinks they are the god king Ascoobis and his servant Shaggenkhamen, which would take the power away from the civil engineer who had been running the city up to that point, so he decides to sacrifice Shaggy and Scooby to a giant scorpion robot which falls into the water revealing it to be a robot and exposing the civil engineer as a fraud, who had been siphoning the nile river through the sphinx, which was somehow also causing an increased number of sandstorms outside the city in addition to general drought.. Scooby and Shaggy, who have still given no indication to these people that they are in fact not a god and ancient spirit, and lead the people of the lost city into a massive battle against what they still believed to be a magical undead army numbering thousands that had turned Velma and several others to stone, equipped with little more than Daphne in a cheap Cleopatra costume and some rugs.
It's not even the first time Hanna-Barbera used that plotline. They produced a (live-action) movie back in 1978 that had Kiss using supernatural powers to fight evil. I'm pretty sure that every movie since that's used that plotline is a reference to that first movie.
@@PotatoPatatoVonSpudsworth is kiss actually a band of immortal magical guardians of the realm, sworn to use their awesome rock and roll for good and kickassery?
I am legitimately CRYING at the Kiss magical girl transformations and the fact that I can identify which sailor scout they pulled *~*inspiration*~* from
The Starchild’s is literally frame-for-frame identical to Sailor Moon’s herself for several seconds. It’s hilarious. Favorite Scooby movie, hands down.
"Both parties completely independent of each other decide to build giant robot dinosaurs and attack the town." This line wins all of the things forever.
To be fair, the town already has a legend of the "Phantosaur" so it's not completely unreasonable that they would both choose to make a dinosaur monster.
Sure Pericles tried to summon an eldritch abomination for personal power, the moon lady tried to ACTUALLY KILL PEOPLE APPARENTLY and the ZOmbie Island people actually murdered people for CENTURIES but that one dude tried to STEAL THE FUCKING NILE RIVER THE MADLAD
@@sarafontanini7051 I was just bummed the freaking spirit of the sand was just a robot, and not actually a giant demon scorpion. Worst, final boss, ever.
Just a minor clarification about "Where's my Mummy." The secret city was actually not inside the sphinx, it was in a separate location. It's still really impressive that Hotep managed to steal the Nile.
Well "stealing the Nile" probably just means "diverting enough water to keep a city going", which is basically why Los Angeles currently exists. However it is still impressive that they did such a massive project without the Egyptian government knowing (given how densely populated the area near the Sphinx is). Also the Sphinx is literally in the Cairo suburbs within viewing distance of a Pizza Hut.
@@jonathanbowers8964No, they mean stealing the whole river. Like the river bed is dry and cracked and all the plants are dead lol. People are moving because of it. The whole river. It’s wild that it’s considered a “side plot” when it would be like an international disaster lol.
I watched goblin king for days straight when we rented it and little nine year old me didn't understand why i liked the fairy so much. spoiler alert: i was a lesbian
I was forced to watch law and order almost every day of my life as long as my mom had the tv to herself. To me it felt like I was supposed to have been dead for years, and that was only a quarter through the first season of the entire series
@@ryanahrens7416 Yeah, the plot might not be amazing, but you can't tell me Alien Invaders wasn't insanely predictable too (Gee, a group of people who haven't seen anything suspicious around an area where all the suspicious shit has been going down... nope they certainly are the good guys, nothing weird here). Plus, it at least paid homage to the original series by bringing back the original villains for the final fight scene.
Mudkip ............. ..........now that i think about it, that song may be why i CRINGE whenever i see/hear sappy romance stuff in animation or tyler perry stuff
Because they're magical girl Transformations are already copy written by the owners and creators of Sailor Moon. Their transformation sequences are literally carbon copies.
My favorite was Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island. Not only was it an entertaining movie, but I think it was one of the only times where they gave the audience a reason to sympathize for the bad guys. Also that scene in the pit scared the shit out of me when i was younger.
JelloApocalypse you Forgot one scooby-doo movie. It's about shaggy getting fed up with being in the mystery inc, so he trys to convince the ceo of warner bros that Scooby have the star power to star in a different show
I THOUGHT YOU WERE SAYING HOW THEY HAVE A TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE LIKE SAILOR MOON DOES- *BUT IT'S LITERALLY THE SAME AS THE SAILOR SCOUTS; I'M FUCKING CRYING!*

I watched that scene and never thought it would explode in such a way thanks to one meme. The internet is amazing in some way like that. Then it rule 34's your favorite character from a show incase of even the SLIGHTEST hint of an ass shot or fanservice in show.
As a hella gay girl, the Witch's Ghost is at least a 9/10 purely for Tim Curry and the Hex Girls. A halloween movie about wiccans, witches and goth girls with Dr. Frank N. Furter as the villain is just the gayest shit Scooby Doo has ever put out.
I’m sorry but Cyber Chase was one of my favorites. Despite the villain having a petty reason to create the virus (which let’s face it a lot of Scooby Doo villains have) I still enjoyed the build up of the plot, the music, some of the action and all the nostalgia we get from former monsters and character designs. Idk that’s just me
Scooby Doo and KISS deserves 10/10 for no reason other than it actually has the four current members of KISS, an is soundtracked BY KISS. Oh, and Sailor Moon references.
The Goblin King is so terrible, and it's genuinely one of my favorites. It wasn’t the first Scooby to do the whole "magic is actually real", not by a long shot, but I felt like they really did something different with it. It's the DnD campaign vibes. Something about it just atuck with me, I guess. I'd be lying if I said that sexy werewolf dude didn't awaken something in me. Goblin King was kinda hot too. 👀
yeah, imho pirates ahoy was one of the best ones, maybe its because i havent watched it since i was a kid but i still enjoyed it, that and zombie island
It bears noting that people with higher IQs are often-times more susceptible to hypnosis due to the logical and hierarchical nature of their thinking. The immunity Shaggy and Scooby share thus becomes both their greatest strengths and weaknesses throughout the movie. i'm sorry, i just really like sharing stupid bits of lore, you'll never get this time back and i really didn't mean to waste it
I can't wait for someone to have to explain "The members of Kiss are now anime characters, but's it's from the perspective of the Scooby-Doo Crew." to aliens trying to understand our culture.
in case you were wondering, the final minutes of the kiss movie... they reveal the fact that the awsome space fights and magic powers were a product of a fortune tellers hallucigen gas :/
What the... At first I thought KISS was gonna get some generic magical girl transformations but those were the actual Sailor Moon transformations, frame for frame.
well he never enslaved mankind. He was trying to become a god though, but the evil deity doesn't care about sacrifices, they are meaningless since you know, its a god and evil. I saw the betrayal coming from a mile away.
Apparently Tim Curry was supposed to play the theme park dude from the live-action movie before he dropped out (IIRC it was because Scrappy Doo was involved in the plot and like most sane people, he hates Scrappy).
Haven’t read it, but “satiric” implies the answer is yes. If the movie itself was trying to be satirical it took itself WAY too seriously for that, so still yes.
Marathon ideas: Pixar movies, movies that aren't disney but everyone thinks they are (e.g. Brave Little Toaster, Anastacia, Quest for Camelot), Digimon series. That last one would probably take too long, but I felt like I should include three things so...yeah.
I can see a Digimon video. It would take to long and be a real drag in places but the video would be funny. Digimon Adventure: Kids go to Pokémon Narnia 02: Kids are back but with Not-Ty Tamers: Now we have Trading Cards and are surprisingly dark Frontier: Go Go Digi Rangers! Data Squad: Digimon COPS Fusion: Digi mega zords
I'd like to say that, considering how litigious and careful KISS are with their image, you know they were involved so heavily in that movie.. On an unrelated note KISS ARE SPACE GODS?!?!
It's not the first time if I recall. In Fairly Odd Parents, they were like Space Guardians of a Magical Guitar or something of the sorta and there has been more before and after.
THEY MADE A FRICKIN’ FOOD NETWORK SCOOBY DOO MOVIE IT’S CALLED GOURMET GHOST YOU’LL LOVE IT Also, I noticed: 10:45 “If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s those *DINOSAURS!* C’mon!”
Took them long enough to make a food centered movie. I mean if I think Scooby Doo and Shaggy as characters, I think not just of cowardice but of major hunger
Ya! With Bobby Flay and Giana De Laurentiis. It turns out the Bobby Flaw is Fred’s uncle! Seriously though, how many relatives do the Scooby gang have?
I think Pirates Ahoy’s plot (plotholes that you mentioned a side) is really good; I like how the villain is revealed immediately and they just try to stop him, rather than it being a mystery. It’s a good spin on the formula
I'm very happy for all the people who think Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase is a good film. I mean all of them are wrong. Objectively. But if they haven't watched it in years and still think it's good then they get to keep their memories of it being good, and I don't have those anymore.
I recently watched a few Scooby Doo's myself with my younger cousin. I was excited for Cyber Chase, because I remember it being awesome and stuff from when I was younger because they were inside video games. It was such a letdown of a movie I don't even know where to begin. (but I still have Surfs Up Scooby Doo, so I'm good)
I remember when I liked that movie. But then again, I was a dumb kid who didn't understand plot development and only liked it because it was Scooby-Doo.
It's scary to think that literally any time KISS is in anything they're interdimensional Guardians. Remember that old 90s computer game KISS, Dark Carnival? They were literal gods and you played as a tribute band who somehow gained their godly powers. Does this say something about Paul Stanley's ego or...are they trying to tell us something more?
I can back Wild Freeze's point up. It's literally every time. I remember an issue of the Simpsons comic had a story line where Gene Simmons was actually Thor and Bart was secretly his son which gave him superpowers
Yeah, that was a halloween story actually WRITTEN by Gene Simmons. The same issue also had stories by Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, and also Pat Boone for some reason.
I Feel you... I Watch almost every movie. Except one... And now I Thinkig is it worth it to watch it JUST SO I can say that I Watch every Scooby-Doo Movie...
Oh Yeah! I haven't done a Plus-Or-Minus ranking on this yet! I guess I should explain that. So positive numbers are regular ratings, and negative numbers are movies that are good for other reasons, i.e. they're so stupid they loop back around to being AMAZING or they're so bad they're funny. A Plus-Or-Minus ranking is the very rare film that is about equally enjoyable whether you watch it to genuinely enjoy it, OR if you watch it to make fun of it. Either way you will have a good time!
Thats a interesting and complex though process for a freaking Scooby Doo movie Make it more clear next time and lets hope there's actually more of Plus-or-Minus movies
You could use imaginary numbers like 6*[(-1)^(1/2)] for the "it is so bad that is good" ; keeping the actual negative numbers for things that are "actually bad" and the zero for the truly boring/un-inspired stuff that is not technically wrong.
TheUltimateSucc Oh yeah it's true alright... unconfirmed but it's pretty obvious... check fact three of this ChannelFrederator video... Guy Leopold worked on Zombie Island... th-cam.com/video/-DRt_0wvEco/w-d-xo.html
I actually really liked Scooby Doo and the Witch’s Ghost. It was a (sorta) interesting twist, and I watched it every Halloween with my sister when we were young. Good ol’ nostalgia.

10/10, the writers realize that shaggy's way of speaking was created by a middle aged exec who has no idea how teens or stoners talk and call it out. Oh and Fred gets catfished
I actually remember _Ghoul School_ rather fondly. It was really cheesy, but part of its charm was it knew how cheesy it was and kind of ran with it. As opposed to _Reluctant Werewolf,_ which was also really cheesy but tried to play it straight. Though I feel _Witch's Ghost_ should get a nod for being one of the best animated of the bunch.
I ended up watching the KISS one and my god it’s amazing. Apparently it’s full of Easter eggs and references to their music history, but I mainly noticed the Jack Kirby inspired art design of Kissteria. I mean hell, the Crimson Witch’s design is just evil Big Barda and the Destroyer is a cross between Darkseid and Galactus. Also the Destroyer is voiced by Darius Rucker and that’s probably the funniest trivia I’ve ever heard in my life.
The Phantom Virus is hot. Why can't he come back? He suffered the same fate as another computer virus character I had a crush on, Swayzak from Toonami.
I unironically love Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase. Do I know it's bad? Yes. But the absurdity of that movie will never cease to entertain me. And that costume change sequence parodying Sailor Moon for KISS was the best thing I watched in a while. Def gonna watch up to the last 10 mins for sure.
I Even Thought Up A Cuphead Version Of The Cyber Chase With Beppi The Clown As The Phantom Virus. Then Again The Final Level Is A Carnival And He Rounds Up The Other Bosses To Stop Cuphead And Mugman To Get His Soul Contract
the quality of those first two live action movies are VERY YMMV. SOme people like them, some people say they're awful, but both are certainly more memorable, original and interesting than Cyber Chase
Cyber Chase is garbage, and not even funny garbage. Live Action is also garbage, but it at least has moments like _evil soul-devouring sorceror Scrappy-Doo commanding an army of evil spirits_ that _some_ people at least can enjoy?
Alright sure, Scooby-Doo Pirates Ahoy! Isn’t a great movie by anyone’s standards but gosh dang it if it doesn’t have the best version Fred parents I’ve ever seen
@@Random-cl3tz That's what I thought, so I was going to comment something like "the only thing that was on the mind of the bowl of petunias as it felt was 'Oh no, not again'" or "Don't Panic", but realized it would be awkward if 42 turned out not to be a HHGTTG reference. So I asked.
Well he actually is partially immune due to the fact he’s tone deaf. Sound based hypnosis doesn’t work on him. Which is why he was hypnotized by the Zombie Ska band in Mystery Inc, but was hypnotized in a separate episode and the Phantasaur movie
The Zombie Island movie actually terrified me as a kid. I watched it when I was like 7, had the most terrifying nightmare I can remember that same night, and haven't watched it since.
I love how two of the kiss members Literally have sailor moon transformation scenes, no, literally compare the second and fourth transformation scenes with Jupiter and Venus' transformation scenes, just beautiful.
I am surprised neither zombie island and witch's ghost were on the top 3. Though looks like you were judging which one was the best by which one was so absurd it's enjoyable.
Zombie Island is a solid film! I'd probably put it at #5, after the top three I posted and Scooby-Doo: Frankencreepy. Zombie Island and Moon Monster Madness are the only movies that I think genuinely try to be scary and do a pretty good job of it.
Man, every time I watch Zombie Island, I'm impressed by the fact that it's actually, like, high quality. Also, praise be to its 90s rock theme song! IT'S TERROR TIME AGAIN. Also, best part of Witches ghost is Tim Curry's voice.
+JelloApocalypse Well since the next movie is "Scooby Doo and Batman the Brave and the Bold", I'm guessing it's going to be a 2 or 3 since Brave and the Bold is kinda family friendly and not so dark.

the fact that MORE THAN ONE cartoon has used the "KISS is actually a group of magical guardians" plotline is hilarious
It's not even the first time Hanna-Barbera used that plotline. They produced a (live-action) movie back in 1978 that had Kiss using supernatural powers to fight evil. I'm pretty sure that every movie since that's used that plotline is a reference to that first movie.
They've even used that in a evil dead comic. No, I'm not joking, *look it up.*

To be fair, the town already has a legend of the "Phantosaur" so it's not completely unreasonable that they would both choose to make a dinosaur monster.

JelloApocalypse
I see! Thank you for replying :D !

Thats a interesting and complex though process for a freaking Scooby Doo movie
Make it more clear next time and lets hope there's actually more of Plus-or-Minus movies
You could use imaginary numbers like 6*[(-1)^(1/2)] for the "it is so bad that is good" ; keeping the actual negative numbers for things that are "actually bad" and the zero for the truly boring/un-inspired stuff that is not technically wrong.

2/10 for me. Not enough ascot.
10/10, the writers realize that shaggy's way of speaking was created by a middle aged exec who has no idea how teens or stoners talk and call it out.

I'm surprised Zombie Island wasn't in the top three.
It was probably number 4
i love that one.
Best movie in my book. Good animation, couldn't predict anything good 25% of being right. But yeah, batman was best
I still have fond memories of that one, particularly the trailer. "This time the monsters... ARE REAL."
That one is great
I actually remember _Ghoul School_ rather fondly.
Connor Tyler plus you know creating the hex girls
Connor Tyler Agreed
I really like the Witch's Ghost
Yup
Ghoul School was terrible, but somehow that made it even better.
Respectfully disagree with the opinion of Cyber Chase.
The plot itself is bad but the movie is great
The movie was amazing sorry not sorry
Same
The Phantom Virus is hot. Why can't he come back? He suffered the same fate as another computer virus character I had a crush on, Swayzak from Toonami.
@@mx.giraffe1971 The plot where they are sucked into a game and half to survive. How is that a bad plot?
The KISS transformations left me in tears. Just beautiful

Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island was many young millennials' first introduction to good "darker and edgier" fanfiction. I really enjoyed it.
I love Scooby- Doo and Cyber Chase even to this day. They were great!
When the live action movie has a higher score than Cyber Chase
*Confused screaming*
To be fair, one of the live-action movies killed Scrappy-Doo.
@@davidhong1934 , that's not true. Scrappy's in jail for life, not dead (sadly...)
the quality of those first two live action movies are VERY YMMV. SOme people like them, some people say they're awful, but both are certainly more memorable, original and interesting than Cyber Chase
The live-action tooks risks at least. Cyber Chase is kinda eh
Cyber Chase is garbage, and not even funny garbage. Live Action is also garbage, but it at least has moments like _evil soul-devouring sorceror Scrappy-Doo commanding an army of evil spirits_ that _some_ people at least can enjoy?
Of course shaggy defeated an entire biker gang single handed, he’s the most powerful entity ever
Alright sure, Scooby-Doo Pirates Ahoy! Isn’t a great movie by anyone’s standards but gosh dang it if it doesn’t have the best version Fred parents I’ve ever seen
Zombie Island was 10/10 in my book. Scariest Scooby Doo movie for me growing up and it still holds water today as an entertaining movie
It made me so paranoid as a kid lmao
Shaggy isn’t immune to hypnosis, he was under the table when they were being hypnotised.
But the clip in the video showed Shaggy and Scooby in a chicken costume on stage?

Well he actually is partially immune due to the fact he’s tone deaf. Sound based hypnosis doesn’t work on him. Which is why he was hypnotized by the Zombie Ska band in Mystery Inc, but was hypnotized in a separate episode and the Phantasaur movie
I like zombie island the best. It had a consistent plot and well made characters.
Mundo Clarbi DON'T MESS WITH THE BACON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed. My childhood right there. IMO, one of the high points is definitely the "Terror Time" sequence.
That's my favorite!
It shit me up as a kid!
The Zombie Island movie actually terrified me as a kid. I watched it when I was like 7, had the most terrifying nightmare I can remember that same night, and haven't watched it since.
Same for me except i was 5 or 6(once)......haven't seen it in like 14+ years
I love how two of the kiss members Literally have sailor moon transformation scenes, no, literally compare the second and fourth transformation scenes with Jupiter and Venus' transformation scenes, just beautiful.
Kairi Hughes DON'T MESS WITH THE BACON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I watched the movie the first time, I didn't notice the similarities. Then I watch this video and, "Hey! This reminds me of Sailor Moon!"
Wasn't the band K.I.S.S. secretly being magical entities guarding a powerful device *also* the exact plot of one of the Fairly Odd Parents movies?
Ladondorf yes yes it was
At least in this one, there was red dust that was basically Psychotropic to the extreme.
Kiss does a lot of branding and S Y N E R G Y
K.I.S.S in any cartoon is basically their own overpowered self insert
not tolerating the cyber chase slander 😡 that scene where the cast meets their old selves is iconic

I just like to listen to Jello describing the Goblin King movie over and over.
Zombie Island traumatized my little child mind...
+JelloApocalypse Well since the next movie is "Scooby Doo and Batman the Brave and the Bold", I'm guessing it's going to be a 2 or 3 since Brave and the Bold is kinda family friendly and not so dark.
The actual best line in cinema history is “My dad is from Cleveland” from Luck Of The Irish. Such an amazing buildup.
Oh yeah that was a thing
You don't know that. That's all it is, Zeldalink1515 . A leap of faith.
Fuck yeah!!
Naw. The line , purely on its own is mundane and boring, the best line should be good even without context
how dare you sir, as a kid I LOVED "Scooby Doo! Pirates Ahoy!"
