    Do masks (surgical and n95) actually filter out the virus? I thought the virus is small enough to pass through the mask.

      They filter droplets

    Why weren't we this aggressive with the Flu when it killed more people?

    • @johnbolger5955
      @johnbolger5955 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Because of the lethality of this virus, if the number of people who had the flu had COVID-19 instead millions of people would die. The flu kills about 0.1% of the people who get it. COVID-19 likely kills 2% of the people who get it. For example if 1000 people got the flu 1 person might die. If 1000 people got COVID-19 20 people could die.

      @STL Sports Lady 76 well the flu kills more people than Covid by far, and the mortality rate is expected to fall when the stats are better fleshed out. The main reason for this response is because it was novel and there was no vaccine. I still think this has been excessive... To shutdown a country and endanger the financial well being of millions because of a virus.

      There's a vaccine for the flu, there's no vaccine for coronavirus (at least not yet officially). That's why science is being so "aggressive".

    Wear your masks if your going out in public it might not completely protect you but it can HELP to a certain extent. The reason why the WHO and CDC are not emphasizing the importance of the mask is so that people don’t panic buy all the masks as they want to provide all the masks to health workers. Countries like South Korea are containing the virus because of these precautions with testing.

    I believe Dr. Littleton grossly understates the risk that COVID-19 presents to the world given that he appears to equate it with influenza. COVID-19 is a totally different cat. Please take COVID-19 seriously and practice social isolation at all times (outside of immediate family).
