- Perfect Boxing day walk? We share our favourite Christmassy, winter walk with the added bonus of the best hot chocolate in Cornwall.
Join us as we take a look at a heart-warming Christmas tradition, investigate a ghost story and enjoy three fabulous beaches.
The standard description bit…
We are Sarah and Andrew and we film our walks around Cornwall and publish on TH-cam, usually weekly. Sometimes we stay in accommodation in Cornwall and upload our vlog. Sarah is fascinated by sea glass and likes to collect it so there may be the occasional sea glass video too. The channel is a hobby and we both have normal day jobs!
Unfortunately we cannot answer comments coming in more than a week after the publishing date of the video.
Frequently asked questions:
Do we do meet ups?
We meet up with our patrons and member on TH-cam Membership every year. If you would like to meet us, please join and you will receive an invite to the event.
The channel is a very time consuming hobby, fitted around our employment and family commitments. Setting aside time for individual meet ups, means that we are not able to film and edit our weekly videos that you love to watch.
If you happen to bump into us while out and about, we will be more than happy to have a quick chat!
Sarah and Andrew
What camera do we use?
Since December 2018 we have used: Canon Powershot G7x MkII
How do I find the books you use?
Most are still in print although some we pick up in charity shops and may be available on Amazon secondhand. Please refer to the video for the book titles. Every video shows the book three times. Sorry but we can’t put a link in every description.
Best time of year to visit Cornwall?
We love May, June for flora and fauna, July and September for spectacular scenery.
What is your dogies' names?
Sorry but we do not release the names of our dogs, perhaps you can make up your own name for him.

Happy Christmas to both of you and of course to the dogs aswell. X. Love the new hat and Andrew,s snowman joke 😊
Thank you! I think he should write cracker jokes! Sarah :)
Hot Chocolates duly noted. So often the cause of bitter disappointment...As to the Man in the Hat: Could it have been Andrew out researching a Trail? Merry Christmas!
Lol! Sarah :)
« Tinsel -itis »😂
Lovely presentation of intrigue, mystery & things going through the walls. Thank you.
I'm my band days, Friday night was music night, but now it's Cornwall night. Best wishes regards your new year plans.
The media that you use is superior to tele' because it's interactive, as we are corresponding with you. So when your productions are such high quality, I don't just mean picture quality, the documentary from you that comes with it, just brings it alive video after video. So when you make a comment about the recovery of your family member, we all there with you.
Thank you for the delight that you have brought to my household in just a few months.
God bless.
Thank you! Sarah :)
When we lived in Cornwall, our friends owned a wholefood shop. Unfortunately they had to give it up and a well known chain of 'healthfood' shops took it on and in their wisdom, refused to sell saffron! Many elderly Katie's refused to enter the shop after that! They should have done their homework as they must have lost £s by not doing their homework on local sales! Thank you for a lovely video, thank you for all your hard work, filming, editing and finding interesting stories for us all. Cornwall, we miss you!❤❤ Merry Christmas to you both😊
Happy Christmas! Sarah :)
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do on here. You really are the most lovely couple & have subscribed to you for many years. So glad that your mum is recovering Sarah. Never ever do I get tired of watching a Sarah & Andrew video & this Xmas walk was right up my street as one of my favourite areas of Cornwall, apart from Tintagel. Just along the coast the other way is the little house on the cliff they used for Dr. Enys' house in Poldark. I think that was the last time I came to Cornwall, over 5-6years ago now as I became unwell then & cannot do the long journey down there anymore. I also have one of Sarah's gorgeous art works on my shelf here with sea glass. So a little bit of Cornwall here & a video every week to remind me how I loved that area. Looking forward to your new adventures in 2024...if you get a chance hop on a ferry over to the IOW...it's like a mini Cornwall in places there & think you would both love it. Merry Xmas & Happy New Year to you both & the lovely doggies x J x
Lovely words and I feel them as well-thank you ! We so love Sarah and Andrew..they are so special and such a balm for us. 🎄🕊️to you..Paul and Bonita Wyke (my husband is from Crowthorne but we live now in Fl..alas!)
@@bonitawyke7259 Oh, that was a nice surprise message to read! Thank you. Have been watching S & A for sooo many years now. Like inviting friends into your house once a week isn't it?! I live in Kent but it's a long old trek from there to Cornwall & as I can't walk much anymore it's a journey too far for me these days. Have a peaceful Christmas & thanks for your nice message. x J x
Hi Judy! Thanks for your message and have a wonderful Christmas! Sarah :)

We definitely love our old books! Sarah :)
Not even a minute in but I have to say Poldhu Cafe does the BEST hot chocolate I've ever had! Going to enjoy the rest of the video, Hope you have a lovely Christmas & New Year! :)
The best winter’s walk! Sarah :)
If your (south) UK road trip does take you into Wales, I'd suggest going to Llantwit Major, where we lived for four years after mistakenly leaving Cornwall! It's on the coast, about 15 miles west of Cardiff and is quite rustic in parts, with nice old lanes, buildings including St Illtyd church (Grade 1 listed), Dovecote and Boverton Place. St Illtud's College saw attacks by Saxons, Danes, Vikings and Normans. There are pleasant walks down to Colhugh Beach, which has the remnants of an Iron Age fort and Jurassic Period fossils ... not forgetting a popular beach cafe! There's a tourist office in town too.
Thank you so much for all of your suggestions! Sarah :)
A Merry Christmas to you both. Suggestions for your road trip. Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole in Somerset. There is also Glastonbury Tor and the city of Wells also in Somerset. Lynton and Lynmouth in Devon is also nice. I watch your videos every week when they come out. My daughter lives in Cornwall and I’m in Somerset.
Some great suggestions, thank you! Sarah :)
You are very lucky. There are lots of fabulous places near where you live.
We will have to do a paranormal investigation down there
The cafe at Poldhu sells my friend's novels. She writes lovely books.
Great vlog guys , please come to Glastonbury Abbey, Glastonbury Tor you will love it , so much history and myths
Oooooo! We will pop it on the list! Thank you, Sarah :)
A very Merry Christmas to you both! Another great video as always! Down with you this Christmas and New year, with our touring caravan, staying at Cury Cross Lanes! Much love, Guy & Olha. X
Ich wünsche euch eine tolle und glückliche Zeit. Danke für das gesamte Jahr voller schöner Como - Erinnerungen 3:4❤️ Bitte bleibt gesund und so fröhlich🇩🇪🇨🇰🫶🏻😘
I love a Roundalay. It goes on and on for ever. Always reminds me of Christmas, no idea why though.
We visited Wniwalloe church in 2022 and I looked around to get a view of the Hatman, having watched your previous video about it. But I didn't se him. Thank you for this festive and lovely video. These hot chocolates looked tasty 😄I haven't been to very many places in the South of England outside of Cornwall. But I spent a couple of days in Farnham this January, attending to a friend's 80 years birthday. Farnham looks really beautiful and there is a number of self guided walks available to download online. One is called The Tree Walk, and there is also a sculpture park. I was sadly not able to do any long walking myself due to a twisted ankle, but I took a small stroll in the streets which I really enjoyed.I stayed at the Bush Hotel which was really good. Thank you for all your great videos and all your effort. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and a really good road trip! Torunn 🥰
Hi Torunn, that is a great suggestion will go on the list, thank you! Sarah :)
@@CornishWalkingTrails How lovely! I wish you a great and enjoyable planning and trip ❤🚗☺
I recommend Beddgelert in Northern Wales for its stunning beauty and its legend of the famous noble hound who died tragically. You are dog lovers and may already know the story of the prince's faithful canine companion. I sat under a tree where he was buried.
Ooooo! Sounds interesting! Thank you, Sarah :)
A blast from the past! Your church cove ghost video was the one that got me interested in your channel. Suggestions for you road trip- Bath (Circular walks are available on line ),The lower Cotswolds, and with your love of Poldark, check out the filming locations in Wiltshire (some in Bristol also). Good to hear Mums on the mend, nice to see the doggies again (scene stealers) Thanks for all you've filmed this year, loved them all. Nadelik Lowen! to you all.🎄
You’re welcome and thanks for the suggestions, Sarah and Andrew :)
Merry Christmas Sarah and Andrew. Thank you for the update on your Mum, so glad hear she is doing well. That hot chocolate looked amazing. Enjoyed this video as we always do. Thank you so much Andrew and Sarah for your wonderful videos all year. They’ve helped me through some tough times and made me laugh at your dogs’ antics and Andrew’s jokes. I’m glad your Mum is well again. Have a very Happy Christmas with your family.
You’re welcome! Have a great Christmas! Sarah :)
The UK road trip sounds great!
Thank you for all your interesting videos. Went to a wedding at Gunwalloe Church about 20 years ago. A lovely little place. I recommend visiting Lewtrenchard Manor, near Okehampton on the edge of Dartmoor. A beautiful old house full of history. Merry Christmas to you both and all the best for 2024.
Ooooo! That sounds interesting, thank you! Sarah :)
Oh my goodness, as soon as i saw the guy in the graveyard i recognised him as 'Hat man' he's identical to the figure i saw at the foot as my bed as a child, it absolutely petrified me at the time and all these years later i watched a video on youtube that mentioned the shadowy figure is a demon, i dont believe in ghosts myself so it made total sense to me. Horrible experience that thankfully has never been repeated in the 40+ years since.
Thanks for all the amazing videos this year we always look forward to seeing them..
Ashdown forest in Sussex is worth a visit Pooh bridge and the Winnie the Pooh cafe at hartfield... Lovely ❤
How cute! Thank you, Sarah :)
I spent many a childhood summer holiday on dollar cove beach when we used to park and picnic on the green in front of the gateway to the cove. The only mass grave I remember was on the cliff path to mullion . Happy Xmas and new year from a lifelong fellow cornishman
We know of the one for the Anson near Loe Bar, Sarah :)
We found Gunwalloe after it appeared on Doc Martin, Aunty Joan’s funeral. It’s a lovely church with a fantastic view. Only been once as the road down from Culldroze is really narrow, I get stressed out with some of those Cornish lanes. Merry Christmas to you both & the dogs.
Yes, some of our lanes are narrow! Merry Christmas! Sarah :)
We love watching your videos. Looking forward to a visit back to Cornwall in April. Have a very Merry Christmas from the Wheatleys .
Thank you and you too! Sarah :)
Have a great Christmas!
When you go on your grand tour, please come and visit East Devon (via Dartmoor on the B3212 of course!). Sidmouth, a regency seaside town with lots of castellated hotels and buildings is a lovely place to stay, especially the Sidmouth Harbour Hotel. There’s lots of sea glass on the beach, and the sandstone cliffs give the sea and the sand a reddish pink tinge. The sandstone cliffs along the beach towards Jacob’s Ladder beach have the imprints of plant roots showing from when the sandstone was a prehistoric desert, and you can continue the walk up onto the SW Coast Path for the most amazing views at Peak Hill (free car park up on the road there), and continue on to High Peak to the site of an old Iron Age hillfort, and then onto Ladram Bay with its sea stacks. Nearby is Otterton Mill, an old working flour mill with restaurant and lovely gift shop, which has amazing cream teas by the River Otter, where you can see beavers, kingfishers, and yes…otters!
WOW! Sounds perfect, thank you! Sarah :)
Bit late catching up with this video! But hoping you both had a lovely Christmas Day and that you get to spend some peaceful time recharging your batteries....thank you so much for all your wonderful walks and videos over the last year, I really do love watching them all, with all the history and little quirky stories thrown in....All best wishes for 2024 to you both ❤ x
Naughtiness = intelligence 😊🐕
He is a very smart little dog! Sarah :)
Happy Christmas! We were just saying that your son needs a cameo appearance on the vlogs again 😅 How about coming to the New Forest on your road trip, maybe Bucklers Hard…you can hire a cottage there opposite the pub for a weekend. We’re down in Cornwall straight after Christmas and for New Year staying in our static caravan and can’t wait!! 🎄
Have a great trip! Sarah :)
Happy Christmas to the both of you, thanks for all the blogs you do.from Anita & Peter with the whippets (we meet in St Ives )
Hello and thank you. Happy Christmas to you too! Sarah :)
TENBY Wales.. worth a visit .. amazing place..or more local ish. BRIXHAM Devon is great 👍
Thanks for both suggestions, Sarah :)
The man in the hat isn't wearing a bowler but a trilby, my husband wears one! It ISN'T him! I often think it makes my beloved look like someone from the 1930's or 40's. Could the man in the photo possibly be someone who was lost in the war? Just a thought😊
Merry Christmas! I enjoyed seeing the weather, the ghost story, the scenery, the adorable doggies, yummy hot chocolate & old recipes & tales. Enjoy & savour your Christmas & break. We have plenty to re-watch during that, - well stocked. You do such a wonderful job & looking fwd to your next expansive adventures. ❤
Merry Christmas, Sarah :)
East Kent full of content. Sandwich eg Rights off man Broadstairs Dickens 39 steps, four candles. Deal Castle . Whitstable Christopher Lee. Merry Xmas R and B.

Happy Christmas Sarah and Andrew 🎉. Hope to meet you both at the meet up in 2024.
Best regards.
Wayne and Catherine 😊.
Merry Christmas to you both, woof woof bark bark to your doggies.Another great video, saffron cake looks tasty. Andrews snowman joke left me a little cold though. See you in the new year xxx.
Lol! Sarah :)
Another lovely vid guys, we loved the ghost story and what could have been going on behind the curtain in the church. Lovely to see your boys enjoying themselves on the beach too. We have a Cocker Spaniel too who loves the beach and also digs holes like your youngest boy. The Poldhu hot chocolate`s look gorgeous and with a Christmas pressie as well. We so enjoy your vids which we look forwards to each week, you are a taste of Cornwall when we cannot get down there ourselves we wish you and your family a joyful Christmas and a happy new year we look forward to seeing you again soon,,,,,,Brian&Jane
Although I now live in Hampshire I have made saffron cake for the last 58 years. I now make buns and put them in the freezer so we can enjoy over a longer period. Thanks for all the great vlogs. Happy Christmas to you both and hope your Mum is now in better health.
Happy Christmas! Sarah :)
Nadelik lowen ha bledhen nowydh da.
Happy Christmas to you both. Thank you again for your videos and for my lovely painting of St Michael's Mount.
Thank you for all the great videos this year. Wishing you a happy and restful Christmas, and looking forward to viewing your new content in 2024. 🎅🎄🎅🎄
Thank you and to you too! Sarah :)
Have a very happy Christmas
I love Poldhu and the cafe. Thanks for the video.
Happy Christmas ⛄🎁 to you both and cornwall
Thank you! You too! Sarah :)
That cafe at Poldhu is amazing always visit it when I'm in Cornwall. I order a new bobble hat from them every year for the mrs she has quite a collection now. Love the idea of a road trip on the south coast and if you venture out to the Kent coast there are some very interesting walks and places to visit. Maybe the Romney Marsh and Dymchurch with its tales of Dr Syn and pirates. A lovely walk along the white cliffs of Dover visiting Samphire hoe and caple le ferne. A lovely cafe on top of the cliff at caple looking out over the channel towards France which you can see on a clear day. Also the battle of Britain memorial is in caple aswell well worth a visit and if your lucky in the summer spitfires regularly fly over the site for visitors to see.
Merry Christmas guys have a good one 👍
Thanks for your suggestions! and Happy Christmas, Sarah and Andrew
Great video, my neck of the woods. Nadelik Lowen to you both 🎄☃️🎄
Wonderful work ,only just got around to watching this 🫣we love poldhu cove and watching the video’s with your two lovely dogs and have been inspired to get a cocker pup of our own ,she like your youngest is very cuddly but very naughty, but we are both looking forward to taking her to Cornwall in June and doing some of your walks ,as for 2024 I can recommend Somerset as we visited in the autumn and loads of interesting places to visit ,I am from Bristol originally so spent a lot of time there as a child ,I now live in Warwickshire, hope you had a lovely Christmas
Hi Sarah and Andrew. I really enjoyed your windy walk today with bits of history and lovely stories. Merry Christmas to you and your family and a Happy New Year.
Thank and have a great Christmas! Sarah :)
Just up the road from me, great! 💜. Merry Christmas everyone
I love your channel , I love coming to Cornwall for 4 decades now, been to amny places but still you show us some more . we usually stay at a Caravan parlor in Bude . last time we went to see the composite signals and found that cute little place near Morwenstowe, its the Rectory Farm tea house , worth a visit .
I did think Hat Man was wearing a fedora, lol. Your channel is magic, with the sights and sounds of your gorgeous coastline, 'then and now' photo comparisons, great old stories, and the spirit of adventure. Puns and 'Dad jokes' at no extra cost. Glad to hear your Mum is better, Sarah. It is the way of things, that when TH-camrs become more popular, they have less time to reply to comments on every video. You do an admirable job. I'm always glad to see your responses, but know it's better for all if you have more subscribers. Last Christmas you inspired me to walk with my husband along our coastline at La Jolla, California, enjoying the surf, sea lions, sea gulls, and cormorants that live in the Marine Refuge there. Best wishes to you and your family for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Cheers!
Thank you and have a wonferful holiday season, Sarah :)
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄 . Another lovely video. thank you so much.
Hope you both had a fab Christmas day , your furry babies are gorgeous x
Merry Christmas to you both great video enjoyed this
Thank you! And to you! Sarah :)
Can’t wait for your road trip! Some places in the South you could visit are: Wells, Glastonbury, Bath, Lacock, Avebury Stone Circle, Dartmoor (specifically i love the Hound Tor and Fingle Bridge walks!), and in Wales: Tintern Abbey, Skirrid Mountain Inn (supposedly the most haunted pub in the UK) and the whole of the Brecon Beacons area which is stunning and very underrated. Check out Pen Y Fan or the Four Waterfalls walk. And if you like historical museums you must go the Big Pit museum and St Fagans. Oh and Caerphilly Castle to see the dragon! Have fun ❤
Wow! Thank you for your suggestions! Sarah :)
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and greetings from my Anglo/American family inNorthern California. We have happy memories of those beaches but would love to try the hot chocolate someday. Thanks for another year of wonderful walks!
You’re welcome! Sarah :)
Great video, love the old stories of Cornwall, I remember enjoying these walks with you and visiting St. Winwaloe Church featured in ‘Poldark’ I commented on the shadow captured on a viewers photograph I often think about that but I guess it remains a mystery still, I’m pleased your mum is doing well Sarah, it’s lovely to see your faithful friends enjoying themselves, so much enthusiasm, I’m looking forward to your travels 2024 in the south of England:) just prior to finding your video I received sad news from my dear Bavarian friend that her beautiful pet of 17 years known as ‘Diva Lady’ passed away this week leaving us all heartbroken 💔 your video has lightened my spirit once again thank you 🙏 Sarah & Andrew….. wishing you and your families all the best and a very ‘Happy Christmas’ ps. donation to follow curtesy of my son Philip on my behalf 🥰🥀🤗
Hello Bernice! Thank you and glad we brightened your day. Always sad to lose a furry friend. Have a wonderful Christmas! Sarah :)

Merry Christmas to you and your familie. I'm glad that your mum feels better, Sarah:)). Enjoy your break in January! I'm looking forward to your next video. Wish you all the best, Gabi:)
I recommend Beddgelert in Northern Wales for its stunning beauty and its legend of the famous noble hound who died tragically. You are dog lovers and may already know the story of the prince's faithful canine companion. I sat under a tree where he was buried.

Thank you! Sarah :)
Happy Christmas to the best TH-cam couple out there 😊 For your exciting tour may I suggest West Somerset, particularly a Porlock Weir and Selworthy village. Also Dunkery Beacon. Or anywhere on Exmoor. When I can’t get a Cornwall ‘fix’ these are my go to places 👌🏻
Thank you! Your suggestions will definitely be helpful! Sarah :)
Happy Christmas to you both love the videos and the doggies.
Happy Christmas to you too! Sarah :)
