Good day lovely Cornish walkers, oh, to be in Cornwall eating pasties and sipping some local ales while sitting on one of these fabulous benches. My wife commented that, when you were on the Fowey ferry, that Sarah’s hair was lovely. And Andrew, you look so handsome clean shaven. Please keep making such enjoyable videos that my wife and I can enjoy from Canada. Thank you 😊
Hi Sarah and Andrew. I use to sit on the bench in Penzance every night looking over towards St Michael's Mount and near the train station. I use to relax before I popped in to the pub for a quiet drink to end the day. I found it very relaxing.
Mine is an unusual one. Padstow, just arrived & parked up. Straight to the Chough Bakery for a pasty and sat balanced on a windowsill looking out at the harbour, in the light drizzle, eating a prize winning pasty. I remember it clearly as I was delighted to see a Razorbill, on the harbour sand with the tide out. I was happy.
From Sandra & Alan, thank you for showing the lovely walks and views in Cornwall, this brings back fond memories of the walks we have done on our holidays in Cornwall.
Loved this video. Thanks so much for sharing all these benches with us. Fun to watch the videos from the past. So many beautiful places in Cornwall. I love seeing them but it does make my heart ache to return.
Fisherman at St Ives, what a spectacular day. The ones we dream of having when down in Cornwall. Unfortunately, despite visiting for the first part of school summer break from the Midlands, we often had Cornish mizzle rather than glorious sun. And also, back here they were sweltering in summer heat. Didn't stop us returning year on year though. Take plenty of towels to the beach and you have blankets. I've needed more times than I can remember. Body boards make good umbrellas when disappearing from Sennan, that I can remember.
We did so enjoy this video - you selected a wonderful selection of past video’s bringing back some great memories. How good it was to watch today - our weather has been dull and wet - the video was entertaining. & sunny. just right. Nice to see the doggies and to see some footage of your younger selves. Our favourite bench is to see it empty when we get there ha ha!! so really anywhere - the views are always amazing in beautiful Cornwall. Keep up the good work guys- brilliant
Really loved your film on walks and benches , it was beautiful. My husband and I love Cornwall and have visited in April/May for many years, not quite so mobile now we but still love a coastal walk and a sit on a bench and enjoy the view.
How could you do a video of Cornish benches and not show the one hundred plus benches in memorial field , Padstow? Another great video as always, keep up the great work.
Some lovely views, too many to choose 💕👍 Andrew's jokes are as bad as my husbands 🤦😂 Love your mad dog digging that hole while you were trying to read from the book 😂
There are many UK traditions I’ve always thought the US should adopt and benches are definitely one of them … they are everywhere in Britain, I never found myself wanting a place to sit while I waited on someone and couldn’t find a bench … but in the US … they are rare unless you’re in a park … can’t wait to visit Cornwall and have a seat on of these.
Just watched this, so many great benches. Our favourite is between St Agnes Head and Wheal Coates just before you drop down th the old mine buildings. A spectacular view of the mine and the cove and beyond, really fabulous! 🥰
Having only moved to Cornwall this year, we have lots of benches still to discover, but we do love the bench at Lizard Point where you can watch the waves crashing against the rocks and the occasional seal popping it’s head up.
Thank you for this wonderful walk along memory lane. I have been to all these places except Polperro. It is really hard to pick a favourite. But the view of Nanjizal beach and the Song Of The Sea cave is one of them. We were there this June hoping for a swim. But on that day we had strong winds, rain, waves and high tide so we chose to be wise and not do it. This was lovely to watch. Thank you. Torunn 🥰
@@CornishWalkingTrails Thank you 🥰 I like to learn about it. It is spectacular with so much history and fantastic views and nature. And lovely people 🤩 I wish you a good swim. Preferably not in 2024 I assume 😄
Lovely vlog so nice to see so many lovely places and also to see quite a few of the benches we have sat on which have brought back many great memories of our many holidays in Cornwall, also I was well pleased you mentioned me and showed my photo from the Hall Walk , returning to Cornwall next year 😃
Just's what seat . Well that last one i have sat upon so yes that is my bench i do think as i have been there the most times in my life. So yes that will be my one . And Thank You for all the walks that you have done.
My cottage is half cob. It is incredibly sturdy. Obviously, it has to be rendered, but if there is any damage to the walls and moisture gets in, it will collapse even though it needs to remain damp. Also, a lot of cottages are sealed with double glazing and have central heating and this can cause the walls to dry out too much and make it fall down. I should imagine the little cottage was subjected to a lot of storms in its time and was a very perilous place to live. Must have been incredibly lonely for the wife. Quite a sad story. Sarah, I love your description of the benchy boat 😂🤣. You get to some amazing little places. I feel quite embarrassed as a fellow Cornish not getting out and seeing more. I can't think of a specific favourite bench. Tracey x
Before we did the channel, we pretty much visited the same places. The channel has forced us to explore and we are very grateful for the experience, Sarah :)
I've read all The Poldark series twice. Once when the first series was done and then revisited on the second. Along with a series called Flambards it remains my ultimate series to rematch, something I rarely do other than less than a handful of films. Despite visiting Cornwall every yearly from 2003 to 2019 I have realised on watching your channel, how much I have yet to see. Unfortunately I live nearly 300 miles away so a day trip is well and truly off the cards. I'm hoping that once some drastic changes to my current life happen I get to return at least once a year for an extended period.. 2018 and 19 we are there for four weeks, our time extended as children became adults and the husband retired. Great video as always, thank you
My favourite is the bench just off to the right hand side of the big hill on Porthrepta Road, Carbis Bay, leading down to the beach. Lovely views of Godrevy Lighthouse. Fantastic video again with so many benches to choose from.
Super film, very well compiled and sets a BENCHMARK for how films on you tube should be made. I have sat on a few of the seats you featured . Well done both.
What a lovely way to start Friday! Great video again guys - and loved seeing the dogs again - especially the Cornish miner - what a great hole he dug!! Don't have a favourite bench I'm afraid - I want to sit on them all...!! 😃
Memories. Precious things. Such a great video on a theme of benches in Cornwall! As each one came along, I kept saying, ''Oh! We've sat there!'' but there were a few I haven't been to. Strangely the one I should have sat on (as I am such a Poldark fan!) but never have, is the Winston Graham one! My favourite bench has to be Porthgwarra, where we sat for lunch on a lovely sunny day a long time ago, so was pleased to see you had included that! Lovely to see you both (& the doggies!) doing what you (and us!) love best, walking through glorious Cornwall telling us tales of yore. x J x😊
I think benches are the domain of the local council : where they can be sited and their installation. I may be wrong of course. They are a wonderful idea especially when dedicated to a person(s) as a remembrance. Sorry don’t have a favourite, I’m always just happy to sit myself down somewhere nice 😁 Super compilation, many thanks 🙏
My favourite bench in Cornwall is the one in front of the church in St. Column Minor by The Farmers Arms. As a teenager it was the central place for meeting all your friends from the village and hanging out on a summer evening. We would all meet there most nights before going on somewhere else or more often just sitting watching the world go by and having fun with your friends. I wonder if any of the other people that used to hang around here in the early eighties remember this.🥰
Wonderful video! ~ benches with a view are so evocative. Though not as scenic as yours, one of my favourites is in St Anthony's Gardens Penzance opposite the Art Deco Lido, looking out to sea and people watching. It's where I was a fortnight ago, having an early packed lunch, and getting my bearings...working out a plan for the first day of my Cornish holiday :)
Fabulous video - full of lovely details, beautiful views, your great sense of humour and historic informations. Didn't comment your last videos because I was too busy to watch them again and again ( and sometimes just using them like a podcast 🤫). What a mixture of interesting informations, different aspects of life in Cornwall and some scaring glimpse..... LOVE IT
Maypole Gardens, Marazion, next to the Godolphin Hotel. Just for the view of the mount. Most pictures that we have of us sat on a bench we have one or the other of our precious little pooches on our lap, now both long gone. Happy Memories from all over Cornwall
That was good fun. You threw me there Sarah....I thought that you had traded Andrew in for his younger brother for a moment....before I realised that you had patched in 'old' videos 😂 Your Cornish ancestry really came out at 14:48 Sarah! I love the Cornish accent.
The bench at Port Issac has Frank Gadman inscription as he once owned the middle house directly to your right as you sit on the bench It was a bed and breakfast which he ran with his wife Jill and also Sheila
Mine is at the view site at Hall Walk on the Polruan side of Fowey River, which you have done. We used to go every year but family there has mostly moved away or are a different generatin now so unfortunately we don't visit very often.
Hi guys, really enjoying this compilation video. Funnily yesterday I was rewatching some older vlogs going back 5 years, when it was more about having fun than about local controversy. I hope you will do a fun Christmas video perhaps to a different cornish stately home at Christmas or some more lights. For local controversy what do people in the county think about the lithium mines at St Austell? It sounds like a good opportunity to bring much needed jobs to the area for young people? Ps viewers please make your own comment in a fresh box below rather than reply to my comment box.
I know it's hard because you need to make your time and efforts pay, but just a word to say your lovely happy puppy walks lift my spirits and make people glad, so maybe once in a while you can spare the time to pop in a new one! I keep binge watching your old ones!❤ ps a new Xmas cheer video please, maybe to a lovely old cornish stately house or garden lit up. I wish I could contribute donations but all I can do is say thank you and may blessings be yours!

Some lovely views, too many to choose 💕👍

Bad Dad jokes - always made the children groan, especially as they got older! Sarah :)
Lovely views and your sketch was good too Sarah. Andrew you never miss a joke you are funny .

The shell grotto benches remind me of some I visited as a child in Kent. I cannot remember exactly where. I know we went often.

In Gorran Haven, in Church Street, right at the top, 'Wrens Nest' is where Genette Tate lived, before they moved to Ayelsbeare. I knew her.
We tried to get a bench erected for my parents in law who lived for ovef 30 years in Cornwall! So much red tape...you even need insurance! We gave up!
