EASIEST WAY To Catch COHO Salmon (Lure Fishing)

- The easiest and cheapest way to catch these picky coho salmon are using lures! I like to use spoons and spinners. In this particular video, I used spoons and spinners from "Prime Lures" they have been my favourite lure since I started lure fishing for salmon on the Vedder River. This is one of the most fun video I made for both filming and editing. In dirty water, if you aint spooning you aint doing it right! Grab some spoons and head out for these chrome cohos.

I've created a monster. 🤣
At least he isn't bragging about hooking more coho on spoons than you... "yet" 🤣
😂 Now I’m trying to become a Spoon master
Me To im a salmon slayer
Many of my best coho days have been dirty water days. The fish feel safe and are more willing to bite. I find that with gear there might be only 1 fish in 50 that actually wants to bite a lure, so you just have to move around and show the lure to a lot of fish. Those that want it really want it though. A influencers, I think we all need to put an emphasis on not dragging wild coho up on the beach, have been seeing it far too much this year.
Dirty water coho fishing is the best! I’m not sure if I agree with 1 fish in 50 statement since I have gotten quite a bit of coho with spoons and personal experience. I do agree that we all should promote fish handling skills for all species that has to be released. I have personally seen lot of bad handling this year as well. Unfortunate
I've watched them react to my spinners in clear water, maybe one in 10 follows for a bit, but only one in 50 actually makes a strike attempt. And once they've seen the lure a couple of times, they stop reacting completely. Maybe that ratio goes up in dirty water, but also people underestimate how many fish sit in a run in October, often it's a couple of hundred.

If you’re going to keep the fish then bank it. I don’t even net fish if I’m gonna keep them. But I agree. This year is bad and I’m on the Kitimat/skeena river. Everyone just dragging fish up on the bank and then releasing them by kicking them back in or chucking them back exhausted with out breathing them at all.
If I’m catch and releasing a fish it doesn’t leave the water. That’s that. Everyone asks me if I need help or to drag it on the bank. I’m like no man, I’m releasing it.
But yeah here we can keep wild and hatchery coho and 2 over 50cm and 2 under 50 cm
I keep wild coho on my river😎 it’s legal here
love hearing you give information to fellow anglers on the shore. Like "here's what I'm doing to catch fish!" So nice!
Hope it helps!
You make it look so easy! Definitely fishing Vedder next year!
Keep up the videos man! I’ve been trying to catch my first coho or chinook for more than a few weeks now but nothing! I must be doing something wrong! Won’t give up though!
I've lost a lot of hardware that's why I am scared to fish them. Any advice to avoid snagging ? Love you videos 😊 thank you!
What time of month did you go to the vedder for this spoon/spinner session?
Cool place man. I like that river, but not as much as the sol duc. King killers really work good too.
Spoon day! When the coho are fresh and just moved in (especially when the water levels rise) spoons can be insanely effective even over roe.
Mike does make some amazing spoons and the quality is top notch from flat split rings, Mustad hooks, good barrel swivels and funky paint jobs (try shining a UV light on some and you will see why)
You are totally right! Great qualities and catches fish. UV light?? I need to try it I wasn’t aware of that
The white and red speckled dot one and another glow under the UV light, another favorite that friends like is the frog color (dark green with black) when coho get a bit tight lipped.@@Go2fishingbc
The fish are way more willing to bite after a decent rainfall. Coho are very spooky they will feel more comrortbale in a little murkier waters. Great job dude.
Thanks!
Are these spoons effective on steelhead also?
Absolutely!
💯
Hey man Nice watching you catch coho on spoons what is the fishing still good I'm coming down tomorrow November 6th can you let me know thanks man
It ll be less action but coho will be still around. It’s matter of if the river is going to be fishable or not…
@@Go2fishingbc awesome thanks man
That looks pretty addictive to me! I gotta get down there and try it out😊
So much fun!!
Great video, l like how you show closeups of the tackle you use.
Glad you liked it!
On central Oregon coast I kill the fuck out of silvers & stealhead on lil Cleo blue & crome spoons & #4 only purple body crome blade blue fox spinners I don't fuck around with anything else
What a video👌
Nice post...many thanks for sharing some good times.
Thanks :)
Nice fishing 🎣 👌
Thanks :)
Man haven't even watched the episode yet and I'm stocked to sit and watch!
This one’s a exciting one!!
Coho love the basic kamlooper copper spoon, never fails for me
Nice!
Might tell you that fluorocarbon is just an expensive line you don't need .
Yup expensive. I do like for my float leader setup tho
@Go2fishingbc doesn't make a difference maximuma is as good as it gets ,there not leader shuy. Otherwise, the commercial trolls would never catch them
A pink rooster tail I’ve found works very well for coho in the rivers here on Vancouver Island
dang that spot at 8 minutes looks good
The spot is horrible… ;)
100% agree
Love this, your energy gets me hyped upppp 🤙
Thanks let’s gooo!
As always great video!!
Thanks!!
Those are daysvwe all dream of. Nice work.
Great content sir. Thanks for sharing
I agree the best days have the two to three foot visibility
Cleos ! The best.use them all the time.
Nice work brother!
Thanks!
what reel are you using?
Was wondering what kind of camera you were using to talk into at the beginning of the video great quality awesome video. 💯💯
Just my iPhone 13! Thank you :)
The fish don't care about line type or color if you're using lures, they're striking out of aggression and don't care in the least. I use white braid the past few years, works great!
Yup pretty much reaction bite!
Just so you know, it's illegal to remove salmon heads on the river.
Not when the fisheries people want the head. They give you a “receipt”
Looks like the Satsop
Nice angling sir .
Respect for your quarry is far more important to learn than which spoon you use.
Depends on water conditions
What graph are you using if you don’t mind me asking?
Just the one that comes up on Google when I search “vedder river level”
flossr
Keyboard warrior
What length leader do you use? Or if any at all
I don’t use leaders because I’m lazy haha most people use flurocarbon leaders 6-10ft
Where do you find the graph?
Just Google vedder river water level
Is this oregon or washington?
BC.
when water is dirty use a smelly jelly and use a spinner that vibrates
You know the drill!
What scent do you think works best?
Is this on the vetter ?
Yes vedder
Could you show the way you get to your spot and where your spot is
No not really
Take a walk along the river away from people. You might find it
Where can I buy prime lures?
www.primelures.com or local tackle shop
Any fishing store in the lower mainland or Fraser valley pretty much or online
What River is
Vedder
Was this filmed this past weekend?
It sure as hell wasn't today, it was about 6" of visibility and quite high.
No, few weeks back
You got my heart in panic attack too, lost the first and bag the rest, awesome! How come you cut the head of the coho off, best part for fish head curry or soup, you not da troo Asian😂 great video, thank you from kangaroo land.
I know it’s always a panic after losing one haha thanks! Haha the fishery officer took it for their jobs. No soup haha
You kidding, that is the first time I have heard such thing, you the true Asian again😂 keep up the good work, cant wait to use spoon whenever I get to BC
Great stuff, good quick coverage of the gear at the end of the video.
While Prime lures are probably the "hot buy item" for the past 2-3 years, I feel like this is yet another advertisement for Prime Lure. Hope you got a deal or freebies out of this.
Thanks! Coming out with new content is hard so incorporating products makes it easier for me to produce content :)
@@Go2fishingbc yup I am sure Rod could tell you a thing or two about it after 20 years of blowing up spots 😅 just don't become too much of a TH-camr and remember to enjoy what you're doing rather than chasing the content creation rate race.
Cheers!
That’s not weird I do the same straight to the spinner or spoons with my braid. Works for me
Awesome!
