My favorite thing about your channel is , you explain what your rigging and how to present it !!! Tired of other channels letting me watch catching fish not explaining how!! I've caught way more fish, watching your channel keep up the good work I'm in Spokane so I use your advise thanks so much for the tips
I’ve caught a lot of steelies on all brass spinners. But my favorite way to catch fish on spinners is to burn them at first light to where there blade creates a wake. The bass love it especially a Mepps with that fat blade. Love your content guys keep it up!!
Duuude, honestly, you guys seem to know exactly what I’m working on and time your videos perfectly. I was out the last two days, giving my 360’s a break and going back to my favorite, throwing spinners. I’ve just never gone after salmon with spinners. Great, clear, concise instruction as always.
That’s a great video I’ve been going on Sandy River six times in the past week zero fish I think I’m’s spinning them a little too fast so today is day seven I’m gonna go and get myself a salmon thanks buddy 😆
I'm new to the pnw but not new to fishing. I am learning so much from your channel. Im amazed at how much salmon and trout catching info you gyys put in each video. Thanks a bunch. See you on the water. Tight lines
Good job bro. Justin! You’re an articulate, intelligent hipster-dude with great skill in teaching. Thanks man. ‘Always a pleasure to watch. Thankfully, I’m learning! A bit at a time!
Another great video, thanks for the great explananation Jordan. I haven't caught any salmon or steelhead yet, but these tutorials give me more confidence :)
great video on spinners. I don't have a boat to fish with like a lot of the video's I watch on your channel but I do have a kayak. I think it would be great if there was a way to get input from you guys on some places that a kayak would safe to use (no turbulent rivers etc) like the one in this video. I know you guys don't like to mention exact fishing locations and I get as a general rule but I think it would be a very useful thing to know for people like myself that don't have a fishing boat. Bank fishing can be difficult due to poor access to rivers. Anyhow, thanks for all the fishing knowledge you share with all of us fishing fans.
Thank you Jordan. I found this video very helpful. I'm fishing from a causeway where the water flows perpendicular to it and is very fast-moving (being downstream from the Soo Locks). I can look 6-8' straight down and see dozens of Trout and Salmon, but I didn't know of a way to get the bait in front of them. The distance from the sidewalk to the water is about 10'. I'm going to focus today's efforts on using Spinners. We are only allowed to fish on the 'outlet' side of the causeway due to the fact that the pedestrian walkway is only on that side of the road. I will start by trying short casts at right-angles, and trying to pull the Spinner over them. The water is so fast that by the time you pull the bait back, you are pulling it up and out of the water.
Just started fishing spinners from Gibbs croc spoons great video you saved me years worth of knowledge in this short video thanks for taken your time much appreciated from Vancouver bc i will be usen your skill on the Fraser and vedder River thank you
Heading out in the morning to try my luck at some salmon fishing in the American River in Sacramento. Thought I’d drift some faux egg clusters to start but I also have several spinners in my bag.
Love to catch steelies on the spinner. Hardly anyone fishes them in Michigan. Tributaries these days. But its so good to catch them when the drift fishermen are not.
I use black with a nickel blade in clear water and chartreuse with nickel or chartreuse blade in dirty water. I live in Michigan we have a variety of water here .
Just caught my first salmon today! It was a 11 lbs 25inch coho( on spinner!) and found one of your addicted bobbers. Right after I bought one yesterday.
Kinigee rocks. Keep these videos rolling. I learn a ridiculous amount from all your videos. Winter steelhead is my nemisis. It's my cryptonite. Any truth would be more then appreciated.
I’m new into fishing just getting by with TH-cam tutorials but the question I have is the rig setup for spinner how long should the leader be and what components should be knotted onto the main line then leader thanks !
I would love to see a video that shows how to fish from the bank. I attempted this last year with spinners and had such a struggle retrieving and feeling like I was doing it correctly. The explanation was good. But I would love to see it in action. I was fishing from the bank and fishing very fast water. Keeping in the strike zone was very difficult. And I had to reel it fast to keep it off the bottom and kept feeling like I was reeling too fast to keep it in the strike zone. Very difficult to find that sweet spot.
Great tutorial! I've learned a lot by watching the videos on this channel and gotten a few friends to subscribe and learn as well! Now...we're all addicted to fishing! THANK YOU!!!!
Hello Jordan. My name is Bryan. I live in central Oregon. Not too far from you guys. Would love to fish with you guys and learn hands on. I’m primarily a trout angler and have a unique technique for catching them with bait. I have watched a few vids made by your crew. Primarily with spinners and kastmaster lures. I have to admit I’ve had decent luck with numbers. Still trying for size. Thanks for the tips. Great vids.
@Jerry bookkeeper Flying C is a variety of spinner made by Mepps. You can order them from the Mepps website....www.mepps.com/information/flying-c/235#FC58P%20HO-S
Me and my buddy are new to fishing but we're loving the spinners, I picked one up at Canadian tire its a Swedish spoon ? Im not sure if thats even a correct name but I love it
Very helpful video. I bank fish a stream that is tidal and feeds in to a bay. What is the best time to fish? Incoming? Outgoing? I’m half a mile up from the mouth. Thanks.
Was starting to think you guys stopped salmon and steelhead fishing videos! Lol, good stuff guys we need to fish together. I got a sled like Jordan’s let’s link up🤙🏻🎣💨
I would like to know how to successfully twitch jigs for silvers. I see people on the river doing it and I have never done it myself and would be curious the best technique? Thank you Mike
Most People in America don’t understand how lucky they are with fishing cause over here in British rivers a 3lb trout is a giant fish for rivers and good luck
@@johnmat7099 It was an adventure I will post video in a couple days on my channel. If you ever need a fishing buddy, I usually have an open schedule. email: terribleatfishing2019 @ gmail.com
Jordan great videos just found them and so much great information thank you so much.. I have some spinners, spoons, and soft beads.. I'm taking my 15 yr old to hit forks area rivers November 2,3,4 .. Never fished over there and kinda looking forward to him hooking into one or a few.. how do you set up your hootchies on the spinners?
I don't normally use spinners to go fishing but I tried spinner fishing the other day with a rooster tail is it normal I was blown away by the way trout were actually following it all the way to the bank but not biting it.
Retrieval speed, would it depend on how bright or cloudy it is? That's is, if it's a cloudy day you would reel in slower so more light reflects off the spinner?

Heck ya. Spinners are the best. They way they hit it, no questions when ya got a fish on.
I have never been great with spinners, this changed the game!
See you on Game Day ~ 😜
i must say, you are doing a fantastic job for this channel jordan. Always happy to see you having a good time.

I'm currently learning to fish spinning and bubble and fly which I prefer it's so nice to someone to explain everything
Another great video, thanks for the great explananation Jordan. I haven't caught any salmon or steelhead yet, but these tutorials give me more confidence :)
Me too!
Never heard the perspective of the fish striking the spinner out of irritation, not hunger.
Very cool
Thanks Guys
Good point on size and speed . I was taught to reel as slow as I could get away with as a guide to speed . It works for me .

Good video chief, looking forward to the steelhead run here in Indiana
Also there’s a good way to use the current on the river to take care of that blade spinning. Thumbs up!
You guys are always catching some quality fish
Honestly never seen how useful a spinner bait was until today then this. Video proved it love the channel

Just subscribed due to this video. Great instruction and thank you for creating these.
Do you ever stop reeling and let the spinner flutter down?
Also, any rules of thumb on water color, like darker lures in colored water?

Hi. Any additional tip to add when fishing in Chicago's lake Michigan?
I'm hearing up for more spinner fishing. Thanks man
Used your method for spinner fishing a week ago and slammed a fat chrome coho hen on a chartreuse flying c. Great tips.
I've got a variety of spinners, but the chartreuse Flying C has been the most effective, by far.
@Jerry bookkeeper Flying C is a variety of spinner made by Mepps. You can order them from the Mepps website....www.mepps.com/information/flying-c/235#FC58P%20HO-S
Down in the Sacramento river in Cal..off the the bank, Flying C's in chartreuse work great for fall Chinook Salmon.
Is there ever a time you would include a swivel when tying your setup? I.E. between your mainline and leader?
From what I've watched, Jordan never uses swivels for spinners when salmon fishing
That was awesome to watch. Thanks guys!

What about the time of day? We know mornings are good but what about afternoons? How much slower are they? Is it worth going out and giving it a try?

The spinner is the best bait for multi species. I've caught so many types of fish on a spinner
Great tips. More vids on spinner fishing would be Great! Awesome content guys.
Lure fishing is also my favorite type of fishing. Great information. Always lots of fishy help from you all. 👍👍
Do you also get the big brown trout coming in with salmon I guess to eat the roe

I love spinners! Do spinners still work for steelhead in really cold conditions like winter in Michigan?

Nailed a new PB coho on a #5 Michael Jackson recently, thanks for the tips Jordan
i love spinners. i use them more than anything else. black rooster tails all day baby. every species of fish in my area ive caught with a spinner.
I need to get out and fish for salmon I really want to catch and cook one !
Thanks bro. Is your leader mono or braided?
Have you guys ever shown a set up of how you keep or organize your tackle box? Would love to see that
Will stained water versus clear have an impact on color, size and retrieval?
What brand and model of boat is that you are fishing from in this video?
Thanks !
Just noticed you were in Washington state. My son is in Bremerton. We'll be there for Thanksgiving. (Navy corpsman)
Any chance you might share what River you were on?
I don't normally use spinners to go fishing but I tried spinner fishing the other day with a rooster tail is it normal I was blown away by the way trout were actually following it all the way to the bank but not biting it.
I tried the corky set up with the pencil weight in October and didn't get anything. Would a spinner be better to try?
Retrieval speed, would it depend on how bright or cloudy it is? That's is, if it's a cloudy day you would reel in slower so more light reflects off the spinner?
I just keep trying different spinners and retrieval speeds until something works. Good luck.
seiners with added squid is by far the most affective lure on that river for coho
