You are a natural in front of the camera! Very practical and down to earth. When you laugh, I laugh. I love your recipes. And your Grandchildren behind the camera are doing an excellent job. And I can tell they have more than one camera because the shots are from different angles. I will continue to watch your videos.
Good day to all ! I watched your video , looks easy and tasty . I found a Cherry Pie filling in my cupboard and decided to follow your recipe . It was a success and yummy . .Carry on baking Nana !
What a warm, friendly and funny nana! Thank you, Mrs. Donahue, for making me feel like I have been spending time in the kitchen with one of my own grammas. (And many thanks to Nana's grandchildren for sharing your exquisite nana with us)!
NaNa I love watching your shows. You are a natural for the camera. I love that you are so down home and you are right I feel as though I am in your kitchen while you're baking. Thanks also to the grandkids who forced you into this. They saw what we an see and I'm so glad they got you to do it. My mom was a great baker. No fancy stuff just down home cakes, turnovers, cookies, nut rolls, poppyseed, breads, buns and thank God she taught me all. Everything except how to make pie crust. And I still don't bake pies. But after your recipe tonite for pie crust, I'm going to conquer it. Your recipes are delicious. I can tell just by the ingredients. Thank you for taking your time for us. Be blessed !!!
I loved this video, I was searching high and low for someone doing a cherry CAKE not cobbler-like dump cakes and thankfully found this! Gonna make this for dessert tonight for my mom, bf and myself, gonna start now so it’ll settle some! You remind me of my mom lol ♥️🤗
So happy you made another video, missed you. You are so sweet and funny. That cherry cake looks so scrumptious!! Hoping to see alot more of you this new year. Take care.
YEA FOR MARYLAND. Hi Nana, I live in Maryland and I'm a huge fan of this recipe. Your videos are great and your direction is great and very easy to follow, I want to thank you for blessing all of us with your delightful recipe and stage presence. Keep up the great work Nana you are very appreciated.
Love you nana , I have always baked and I love cherries so now I can make something yummy ... I became a new nana 7 weeks ago and I can't wait to bake and teach my grandson to bake . Thanks nana thanks so much from Leanne in Sydney Australia xox
Everywhere! I have a zillion cookbooks ,both professional and fund raisers, that I've collected for years and I surf the net too. I have favorites I've made for over 40 years but I still like to try new. The biggest difference for me is that my recipes used to be 75% complicated desserts and fussy food ,especially for company(to prove I could do it). But the world changed and I changed too. I make many more recipes for soups, pasta, casseroles, etc. and only bake occasionally..
I made the cake.......i cheated added some whipped cream.........and put 2 cans of cherries......was so yummy...........nana you are so adorable.......thank you
Hey Nana. It was so funny to see a new video from you today because me and the kids were just talking about you while making pie crusts for our apple pie. Anywhoo, this cake looks very good, just one suggestion. I would love to see the cake cut and served to see what it looks like in the middle, especially after having sat a day. Otherwise, this was a great video. Keep em coming Nana.
THIS LOOKS REALLY REALLY GOOD. I THINK I WILL MAKE THIS FOR MY SWEET TREAT AT WORK!!!!! WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING TO NOT OUT DO EACH OTHER BUT TO BRING THAT UNIQUE DISH IN. THANK YOU
I love your videos, you are a Jim Dandy. I just ordered my very first Kitchen Aid mixer and I'm going to be all over youtube looking for recipies.... well I was going to be, I'll spend a few hours here now ; o) Welcome back Nana.
Instead of dropping the dough in lime, what I do is…. Make a ball & roll it out in the shape of the cake pan.. or cut it into slices then carefully place it over top. That looks delicious!!
Hello Nana! I just "discovered you this evening and enjoyed all three of your videos that I watched. Let me commend you on you patient and thorough method of teaching. You have a great relationship with the camera. Really well done! Listening to your manner of speaking, I would swear that you are from Jersey, am I right? (I know cuz I spent a lot of time there growing up). Keep up the good work. I will seek out your videos more often now.
I see she’s using Kitchen Aid artisan series. They’re a fabulous mixer, even strong enough to mix bread dough! I highly recommend this mixer and it comes in multiple colours to match your kitchen style. :)
Hi! Thanks. Recipe didn't call for greasing it so I probably never have. There is no added liquid. I have added ingredients and instructions under the video so I hope this helps.
Happy, Blessed New Year Gloria! Thank you for this delicious looking recipe - I can't wait to try it! I wonder, do you think it would work well to substitute a yellow cake mix (with or without the added pudding to the mix) for the dry ingredients? I'm just a bit hesitant to try it without your input as it starts with two sticks of butter! Thank you for all the time you give us on this channel!
Bienienva thanks for your SUGGESTION. I tried it -- and it works! One-half bag of Yellow Cake Mix at the bottom. Then spread the pie filling evenly over the Cake Mix. Then spread the 2nd half of Cake Mix over the Pie Filling. Finally, I placed cold slices of butter (one stick) evenly over the Cake Mix topping. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes -- and voila! An easy and delicious dessert!
The cake looks nice though I would have liked to see it cut into a piece. I was expecting a cherry pie as your youtube link came to me as NANA'S CHERRY PIE. Would still like to see you make a cherry pie, I get fresh pie cherries where I live. Wishing you a great 2013 Nana. Love to watch you cook.
My cherry cake is baking as I write , mmmmm. Where did u buy that special beater? I have a kitchen aid blender too, I would love to have that beater, saves so much time
I have seen it on line and in kitchen shops. It fits the 5 quart KitchenAid that I have but if yours is a different size, check if it fits.It is an extremely useful tool.
Nana you stole all my tricks, or I stole yours. I guess we are kindred spirits when it comes to baking. This is the first one of your videos I have watched - I'm now subscribed - and plan to make this with a homemade marrionberry pie filling. Wish me luck!
How do I make a homemade cherry filling if it is not readily available in my country (not a big pie filling or pie eating nation) I should be able to get frozen cherries minus the stones here (I hope so) so working with that, what is the next step. Thank you.
Hi Tammy, You can heat butter in the microwave or on a cooktop..Just cut it in smaller pieces and heat it on low for either way .so it melts but doesn't get too hot.
Jean Botts yes I also want to see the texture before I invest time and ingredients. I keep hoping that as I watch she will get the idea and do that!😕so far not so much

I see she’s using Kitchen Aid artisan series. They’re a fabulous mixer, even strong enough to mix bread dough! I highly recommend this mixer and it comes in multiple colours to match your kitchen style. :)

Hi Nana, I love your videos. Could you please tell me how much should be oven temperature and backing time for this cake? Thank you.
Hi!
Hopefully the time and temp shows under the video if you press more. The temp is 350 and its 45-50 minutes until top presses back
Thank you!!! :)
The cake looks nice though I would have liked to see it cut into a piece. I was expecting a cherry pie as your youtube link came to me as NANA'S CHERRY PIE. Would still like to see you make a cherry pie, I get fresh pie cherries where I live.

You can pipe it by putting the mixture in a ziplock bag and spreading it evenly on top
The last part of a need to spread the dough could simply pop dough in frig for 30 mins. then roll out in rectangle shape and place on top of cake.
Was that a third hand ?☺
My cherry cake is baking as I write , mmmmm. Where did u buy that special beater? I have a kitchen aid blender too, I would love to have that beater, saves so much time
Lorraine Leblanc I think I have seen it on Amazon.
I have seen it on line and in kitchen shops. It fits the 5 quart KitchenAid that I have but if yours is a different size, check if it fits.It is an extremely useful tool.
Lorraine Leblanc I saw that beater on Amazon. Hope you find it! 🤗👍

Awww I wanted to see a cut piece. 😟 But it sounds good by the ingredients.
does it matter to melt the butter in the microwave?
Hi Tammy,
You can heat butter in the microwave or on a cooktop..Just cut it in smaller pieces and heat it on low for either way .so it melts but doesn't get too hot.

Hey well you need to cut the cake der….
I gave this a thumbs down because of the canned cherries...Too much of the red dye in this product, probably other chemicals.
Thank you for your kindness and step by step instructions 🥮🙏🤗
