Many sentinels were also relegated to the Jedi service corps. Yoda and other masters arrogantly believed them largely unnecessary, untrustworthy due to their focus on rooting out the Sith, or as lesser Jedi. Had there been more sentinels during the time of the Clone Wars it is likely that Palpatine would have failed.
I highly doubt, given what we know about Yoda, that he would look upon the sentinels as lesser Jedi and make decisions based on that. The council weren’t really aware of the extent of the threat until it was too late so it’s a bit unfair to call them arrogant for not using the sentinels.
@@muhtadialbandar9549 Well, Ki-Adi-Mundi believed the Sith to be extinct and says so in episode 1. In episode 2 Obi-Wan and Yoda discuss how arrogance is becoming a more common trait among Jedi, particularly the older ones. I do not think Yoda was above such arrogance either, but did recognize it in himself and tried to combat it. This is also showcased by the fall of Count Dooku to the Dark Side, who was Yoda's padawan. However, remember Yoda was over 900 years old. He was alive shortly after the final fall of the Sith, during the time of Darth bane. He and all the other Jedi since him had been raised to believe the Sith were gone. The primary job of the Sentinels was to root out the Dark Side. And, with the primary practitioners of the Dark Side gone, the Sith, there was no further need for most of the Sentinels. Also, because of their focus on practical knowledges, such as slicing, engineering, droid construction, etc., many Jedi Consulars and Guardians believed the Sentinels to not be as capable as Jedi Knights as they were; think of it like conflicting Chinese schools of martial arts within the order. What I am saying is this, if there had been more Jedi Sentinels around before the Clones Wars, then it would have made things very difficult for Palpatine and the other Sith; because there would have been more people looking for them. We can see that there were far less Sentinels around during the final years of the order; only a handful in comparison to the other two groups. This is evident by the legend and canon material.
@@jamalalqassem8747 Well, at that time there were no Sith within the Jedi Temple, with the exception of the very few times Chancelor Palatine came to visit; which was rare if ever. Also, there is a Dark Side nexus under the temple that aided in clouding the vision of the Jedi in the Temple. Traditionally most Jedi Sentinels, besides the Temple Guard who rotated their positions, spent the majority of their time outside of the Temple; so their vision wouldn't have been as clouded. As for the betrayal well, that happened after they were captured and subjected to Dark Side brainwashing and torture techniques, which happened to them after they watched the deaths of pretty much everyone in their order. So, they were already at a emotionally unstable state at that point most likely. Also, Sentinels weren't taken seriously by most of the Jedi during that time period; even as respected as the temple Guards were they were there to guard and been seen, not heard generally. The rest were kind of outcasts that lived on the fringes of the galaxy where the Council sent them; they couldn't be of much use out there. That's like putting the alarm system for your house on your neighbor's house that's ten doors down, and then wondering why it didn't go off when someone broke into your house.
The Jedi Order has survived several thousands of years of war, and while many will say that it was the Jedi Knights and their courage and bravery that made it possible for the survival of the Order. In truth it was the Jedi Sentinels and their secretive nature that allowed for the Jedi Order survival. Several Jedi Purges have happen before, or Wars that depleted the ranks of the Jedi, but the Sentinels made it possible to secure both the knowledge and personnel of the Order.
In Legends, the Jedi have been driven to the brink of extermination several times, but each time, survivors were able to bring back the Jedi Order. As for if it is Jedi sentinels every time, I can't confirm.
Even if it wasn't the sentinels that were the ones who remade the order. What they did would of largely contributed to it since they were the first and last defense of the jedi
It was foolish for the Jedi hold back the Sentinels they could've used to track down CIS spies, find out who framed ahsoka, and maybe spy on some criminal organizations.
@@jamalalqassem8747 That because they weren't used. The Jedi council used non-sentinel knight for all the important investigations and generally kept the sentinels in house. That's a bad move. That's like not taking a guard dog out for walks or to play. They won't be practical. Pre-clone wars, it was like the best blades the Jedi had being slowly dulled while the other knights did the peacekeeping missions
It was a bit too late to train a new generation of members of a rare discipline within the order by the time the Clone Wars had started. By that time, the Sentinels were too few in number, their technique rusty from the peaceful years and had obligations to fulfill which others would not take. They had strayed from their original Sith hunting to the by then more common guarding of the temples and provably just plain weren't in any position to be deployed like during the old times anymore. Now, if they had maintained their numbers and original position... Yes: they'd provably have been able to do a LOT for the Order and the Republic, maybe even enough to grind Palps' plans to a halt. Jedi Sentinels, as per their Old Republic doctrines were, after all, the ones most suited to both oppose Sidious' schemes and survive post-Order 66.
If Anakin had survived his return to the Light, and therefore needed a new life support suit, I like to think his new suit would've been based on the armour and masks of Jedi temple guards.

I dont know, between bariss offee's bombing, the bounty hunter's attack, and even their failure against vader. A list of failures to protect the temple makes it likely they were in a period of severe decline.
They are trained to root out the dark side from beings trained in its use. Bariss didn't have the aura of a full dark side user due to her only recently harboring the beliefs and had yet to fully turn. They wouldn't have been able to so easily find her growing connection, and even if they could they wouldn't expect one of their own. The bounty hunter incident wasn't a failure so much as an oversight. The temple had security measures that were more than enough for most intruders. Bane was the most skilled bounty hunter in the Galaxy at the time, being second only to Jango before his death. The Vader point isn't viable. No amount of training would make them able to stand up to him in his rage. The only Jedi who stood a good chance against him at the Temple was the Battlemaster Cin Drallig, who himself was slain with relative ease.
HK-47 explained it best that sometimes jedi have a hard time detenting meatbag that deny or don't believe in the force and their skills in the force mostly work if they are actively searching for you of are in their eyesight.
Definitely. Pretty much they lost Dooku due to Qui Gon's death and then it all went downhill from there. Pong Krell turned to the dark side before he was killed, Quinlan Vos (though his circumstances were pretty extreme) turned also, Sora Bulq, Bariss Offee, and because of what she did caused Ahsoka to leave as well as the Jedi didn't protect or defend her the way they should have, though she didn't fall to the dark side, the Jedi guard later turned Grand Inquisitor, and then Anakin himself of course.
*SHADOWS* were the ones trained to root out and destroy the dark side and its practitioners, *SENTINELS* were Jedi with practical skills whose role was to actually go out and help the denizens of the galaxy and spread the light side that way. Shadows were a sub-class of Jedi Sentinel since they were trained in the same practical skills and were usually inherently solitary in nature.
Shadows being a subtypes of sentinels mean that in general, Sentinels still held the role of seek and destroy. Think of the "Shadow" an operation type, a role/job. But not its own classification. As in they have the same training as the Sentinel. They are in general the exact same. Aside from the fact that they potential become more experienced in live combat. But I think they would rotate their roles.
@@zenraloc they actually don't. In the Lore Shadows operate completely differently and separately from Sentinels and have training that Sentinels don't have. They're considered a "sub-class" for Roleplaying game mechanics reasons. SWTOR threw them under Consulars. The reason they used to explain these gameplay mechanics choices was that Sentinels have practical skills Jedi aren't trained in, and Shadows also have that training because it's useful as infiltrators.
@@nuancedhistory You're right, I stand corrected. I refamiliarized myself with the right information. So ofcourse Sentinel, do have many subtypes, one being shadow. Unlike what I was mistaken about, that doesn't mean that all sentinels are specifically ready and trained for shadows operations. Every shadow is a Sentinel but not every Sentinel is a shadow. Though let's not acknowledge the classification of them being under the consulars. Although it is specifically mentioned one factor of sentinel training is stealth. And we do know that temple guard is another subclass or role of sentinels.
@@zenraloc yeah but Shadows can actively bend light in a force cloak and also make themselves invisible in the force, Sentinels apparently aren't trained in that judging from the lore around specific characters later retconned as sentinels.

Aside from the Temple Guard Sentinels, there were also the Sentinel Watchmen. These were Jedi that often chose to spend their lives assigned to a very specific sector or planet. They would sometimes be vigilantees or reliable known figure-heads that stayed in one place and kept it safe from harm. Jedi Batman basically.
I’ve also read in the Jedi Path Handbook that sentinels also learned practical skills outside of the force and among the civilian lives. With the discipline that the Force won’t have an answer for everything. I like that.
A story of a temple guard feeling the dark side on Coruscant during the clone wars, not being believed and turning mad would definitely be something I'd like to see or read. Like "well, if there were darksiders, surely the council or the other guards would have felt it" (which, as we know, thed didn't)
Except that they didn't. Sidious was a master at hiding his presence in the force and clouding the judgement of those around him. No one could detect the dark side in him while he focused on keeping it hidden.
actually, the jedi shadow subclass were the coolest, they were the ones who were actually dispatched to hunt down sith, sentinels are basically sentries of the order mostly used for temple security and intelligence purposes
"As was the case with the Grand Inquisitor in Legends." Correction: Canon. The Grand Inquisitor in Legends doesn't have much background or description and, due to the nature of the Imperial Inquisition in Legends being essentially a secret agency of operatives recruited from various ranks of the Galactic Empire, it's not very likely the Grand Inquisitor in Legends was a Jedi Temple Guard/Jedi Sentinel, or a Jedi at all. Whereas, in canon, The Imperial Inquisition is almost exclusively made up of former Jedi who were repabled as brothers and sisters with various numbers in place of their names.
With many pointing how easily they failed to protect the temple in the clones wars, I think it's important to point out this was largely to do their lack of use. The number of sentinels was few and far between and often sent to random places that didn't really need their service. In the process of not actually being active, they had nothing to really hone their skills or test them, so even the few they had probably weren't actually that great as a result of the order never actually using them. They worked with their hands tied so much they probably lost most of their abilities that made them so strong.
I never got how things would be balanced if the dark side was eliminated. If you put nothing on one side of a scale with weights on the other it isn't really balanced is it?
You're thinking of morality as a + - scale. You should be thinking of it as 0 to infinity instead. The glass is either full (balanced), or it's empty and you go thirsty (the dark side). You can't fill a glas with "negative water". Though the Force has many similarities to Taoism on surface level, the morality behind it matches Christian philosophy most of all. It's a kind of Syncretism of different philosophies, but the Jedi idea of balance follows most closely the Christian idea that evil itself has no real being or existance. The Dark side (evil) is only a corruption of good, or lack of good. Darkness is only the abscense of light. The color black is not actually a color (since it does not reflect light for you to see). Think of the Force as a piece of pottery with a pretty artwork painted on. The dark side represents cracks in the pot, holes or missing pieces. The dark side makes the artwork worn out and hard to see, the broken shards can be corrupted and used to do evil. The shards can be sharp and cut you, can be used to make arrow heads and weapons. You can't appriciate or see what the artwork is with shattered pieces of the puzzle/pot. The Force is balanced, pure and uncorrupted... when the pot is completely intact, without any cracks or signs of wear and it is used exactly as it was meant to be used: to be filled with water (life) and appriciate the complete artwork. It was not meant to be shattered into pieces to make arrow-heads or be corrupted in any other way. No dark side = intact pot, no corruption, the force is in balance.
@@diegoidepersia In Legends the time of the Je'daii was the most balanced because they taught that you needed both in balance. You couldn't lean too far to either side or you were banished till you learned to balance again. The planet they lived on depended on it. I’ve always liked jedi shadows the subgroup of sentinels. Super useful at anytime in galactic history and if more would have existed they could have stopped the sith or at least easier survive order 66 due to the nature of there training and missions
Actually, Jedi Shadows (A subclass) were the ones who hunted Dark Siders down. Jedi Sentinels are just Jedi who mingle with the public and have non Force-using skills.
Yeah, I think he basically merged Sentinels and Shadows into one class here :/ Kind of messes some things up... Sentinels are either Temple Guards or Watchmen. Watchmen would often stick around at a certain city or planet and play Batman there. A pretty cool ideal that feels more down to Earth than the duties other Knights had. Instead of following whims of political conflict and missions handed out by the Council, they just go wherever they want and fuck up any criminal they can find, or continously keep exposed people safe from harm.
The channel is a bit weird since they use images from swtor a lot but tend to brush over or change details from it often and even just mispronounce things.
The word ‘sentinel’ is such a great word…it’s one of those words whose meaning is crystal clear, and its pronunciation sounds exactly like what the word should mean. It’s almost as if one hears it spoken for the first time, one knows just what a sentinel is. Ok, my deep thought for the day. Carry on.
@@snorlaxmunch8675 Thank. To the Jedi Sentinel is far better balanced Jedi. They can things out much like the Consulars, and are just as capable of fighting things out like the Guardians. However they also use more practical skills too like Slicing (hacking computers) and other skills. Jedi Sentinels are far less likely to fall to the dark side of the Force, but that is just my opinion.
Kinda reminds me of a short story describing the 3 3 Jedi of each class walk up to a locked door The Consular knocks The Guardian breaks in the door The Sentinel picks the lock
Sad to think an order of force wielding battle monks who meditate all the time became so complacent which led to lack of preparation when things hit the fan
given they had mask on it would be hard to know unless someone writes a book if they just wore civilian clothes and walked to try to regroup later or something along those lines. I mean wouldn't be unheard of for them to be able to use a power like palp to hide their force powers and go unnoticed
Kotor 1 and 2 gave me a deep appreciation for all of the "major classes" of Jedi: Consular, Guardian, Sentinel; and Sith: Marauders, Lords, and Assassins. (Even though the whole "class" system gets kind of muddy with the prestige for jedi going into Weapon Master, Watchman, and Master. I Guess jedi Master is a Rank as well as a Class according to them lol) But, well to be blunt I like the sith better in every aspect except for the rule of 2 and the restriction to red lightsabers (favorite is green with purple as a close second, blue is third, red fourth, yellow fifth, all others after if you dont count specialty crystals that make unique blades like the Lava Saber or those cold crystal and the freezing blades they make), but I'll pick a type of jedi to keep things fair. Overall, Jedi Sage is actually my favorite. Its pretty obscure so I guess most people dont know about it, but its basically what I always wishes Consulars would be like: it focuses on using the light side and neutral powers of the force in combat, so basically they fling everyone around like ragdolls with telekinetic powers as well as crushing things, slamming them, disorienting people, disarming them, and much rarer powers like elemental manipulation to conjure and control fire, wind, and so on, of course im sure they would probably be good with force judgement too.
I hate when ranks are color coded. It can be a real bummer keeping things straight, being colorblind ‘n’ all. But thanks for breaking some of the classes down as I’m new to the SW universe.
I am relatively sure that quite a few more sentinels have survived than it’s generally known. It just seems logical that they would also fake their deaths if possible.
This was a good reminder that the sith accomplished so much because the jedi didn't really think or believe that any sith even existed, and when they finally popped up they had little information as to how powerful they were.
Sentinals were always my favorite class in KOTOR. It wouldve been nice if the dialogue and the story were to slightly differ based on the class you choose.
I think if there were more Jedi sentinels, the clone wars may never have even started, if they were more of them around the Galaxy and the Senate they would’ve sniffed out Palpatine fairly quickly before he could take any real power.
i thought it was said that the Grand Inquisitor was turned to the Dark Side before Order 66 and that he attacked and eliminated The Temple Guard before the Attack on the Jedi Temple. that is why none were seen during Operation: Knightfall.
I like how this adds yet another layer of arrogance to the Jedi Order. When I was a kid and none of this lore existed I could only see the Jedi as infallible heroes. But now I see that it's not that simple. Great video!
I wish we could see some media of the inquisitors actually being a formidable threat, I’m sure in the books and comics they are probably more badass but for people who just follow the movies and shows the inquisitors were not that scary like kaleb from rebels wasn’t even a fully trained Jedi and could still stand toe to toe with the grand inquisitor
Fun fact, yellow can only be created by mixing red and green. Doubt creators thought of that lol but as a painter I’ve always had that thought for yellow blades, little more violent in nature than most and for guardians who are meant to defend and act immediately upon threats within Jedi’s most important buildings, I dunno, always made sense to me.
Sentinals didnt use their own sabers when they serve as temple gaurds. Sentinals are hands down my favorite class they could just vanish into the crowd, they learn non jedi skills and eventually become jedi watchmen. They dedicate themselves to a single city or planet and go deep cover
Now that I've seen this, and I know that Sidious tried to use the Jedi Sentinels to revive the ancient Sith Assassins, I'd like to see a video on the Sith Assassins.
I think that Jedi Order on Coruscant failed because the temple was sitting on top of a dark side temple. The dark side slowly corrupts so it blinds the Jedi.
I’ve always liked the way jedi work together, though I think Consular jedi preserve the light Sentinels prevent dark side threads from emerging And guardians destroy the threat when it emerges
Wow. The Mighty most powerful group of Jedi known as the sentinels, bordering on being living angels with how powerful and skilled and utilitarian they are, reduced to skinny weak little security guards... Being a security guard is cool. But... Angel level power is kinda characteristic of sentinels. It’s sad to see them like that in the clone wars. Sentinels were supposed to be equal to vader more or less. Sentinel school training alone puts them above guardian in combat prowess. Their force training puts them just below or equal to consulate. Sentinels are supposed to be the best of both guardian and consulate. But the clone wars make them look like glorified mall cops. Based on what I know, my opinion is that sentinels should be able to go toe to toe with Mace Windu and Count Dooku and Anakin and Obiwan. Isn’t form 7 a unspoken requirement for being a sentinel? I’m assuming during the clone wars, the “requirements” for being a sentinel were lowered greatly compared to before in Jedi history? Long story short, I feel that they did sentinels extremely dirty in the clone wars.
You see them as living angels. Seems a little extreme to me. They are not trained to be the best of both? Where do you get that from? Honestly, it feels like the writers and creators left the Sentinals in the dust and just didn't develop them. Perhaps F & F will fix that in the new Star Wars Universe.
I want to see them close in on Vader with a Old Republic Jedi Temple attack on Courascant ish vibe. That cutscene always gave me chills down the spine.
I was assuming that, given some characters such as Grand Inquisitor were only stablished as Guard, only some Jedi rotated as Guards while there was permanent members of that corp, now that I've seen this video, maybe that permanent group where simply Jedi sentinels that were bestowed that job again and again each time the post "rotated".
The Temple Gaurd would be a specialty in the Order that very well could take decades to fully develop. Decades that during the Clone Wars the Jedi could not guarantee would replace their numbers to protect the ancient and massive Temple. Yoda and the High Council would know their history well of the times where the Temple had fallen. I don't think that during the Clone Wars not using their skill set to hunt the Sith was due to arrogance or fear but being practical. The Jedi Temple was ancient and massive and part of the discipline required by a Guardian was to know every level of the Temple. Dooku was a Jedi and had been able to erase Kamino from the archives without anyone being able to notice. What other secrets could he have and use to infiltrate the Temple?
If they were determined to destroy any threat, then it’s safe to say this is why they weren’t sent off into missions like they should’ve been. Damn that would’ve made such a big difference in their efforts if the the temple guards weren’t just guards.. As Anakin stated, the Jedi held back extremely and that’s why the war continued to pushed their efforts into the drain. Imagine the Temple Guards joining in with Anakin on missions and that would be a perfect match. No wonder why the Grand Inquisitor lost faith in them, they didn’t let him get any chance to provide progress with his fellow sentinels.

Counter-Point 1: The Father exists. Counter-Point 2: Various Jedi have various different ideas about plans, their favorite lightsaber combat Forms, what Jedi traditions should or shouldn't be followed, or even the Force itself. If the will of the Force is the Light Side, then Jedi shouldn't have disagreements, because, well, they're letting the will of the Force into themselves. Counter-Point 3: The Chosen One was a puppet of the Force, used to wipe out both the Jedi and the Sith. If the Light Side, which they were constantly channeling, was the will of the Force itself, they would at least have gotten a warning. Counter-Point 4: The Bendu exists. Counter-Point 5: Anakin's ANGER at Sidious for daring to harm his son allowed him to throw Sidious into a reactor chamber. He did a heroic act in anger, big surprise.

I wonder if we'll ever see the return of the ancient original jedi (I know it spelled and pronounced differently but idk how to spell it) and this ancient order focused on real balance practicing both the light and dark side and if an individual would lean more to either side the others would bring them back to balance, but unfortunately a group of dark jedi eventually separated and they fought eventually leading to their exile where they would eventually turn into the sith and what remained would entually turned into the jedi we know today

Yoda and other masters mistakes: 1. Relegating Sentinels to the sidelines via the service corps 2. Thinking the sentinels as unnecessary 3. Thinking the sentinels as lesser Jedi 4. Thinking the sentinels untrustworthy for their focus on rooting out the dark side. 5.
I'd like to think that a single digit few sentinals where sent out to investigate and trace the path of the Sith after Naboo. Could you explain how maul just didn’t learn the skills that made a sith assassin, despite rigorous and exponential training during his time under Sidious
I always find it funny that the goal is always to bring balance to the force, but the light side are always trying to completely eradicate the dark side. Rather then keep a balance of the two.
And this is why the jedi were destroyed first. The bring balance in the Force. Anakin just fulfiled his prophecy. One must always be careful how they interpret a prophecy.
Its a perversion of the original intent of the war with the Sith. That being that balance could be achieved without the Sith because their philosophical differences were beyond mere light vs dark. The Jedi surrendered themselves to the force, they worked according to its will. The Sith enslaved the force, they bent it to their will. As such, under the original philosophy of the Jedi, balance could technically be achieved without the Sith, especially when you consider that the Jedi and Sith aren’t the only Orders of Force users out there. However, in the era of Yoda, the Jedi underwent a significant cultural shift it seems, in terms of their interpretation of their own doctrine
There is no light side, there is only the force. The dark side is a cancer upon the force that must be destroyed, that is when balanced would have been achieved. Or at least, that was the original vision, though I have no problem with a more nuanced view either.
I really hope we get to see Hayden Christiansen fighting a bunch of them during the Order 66 flashback in the Kenobi movie.

I dont know, between bariss offee's bombing, the bounty hunter's attack, and even their failure against vader. A list of failures to protect the temple makes it likely they were in a period of severe decline.
Failure against vader isnt really a failure, considering vader was literally the second strongest jedi at that point
@@trekstarsam2494 hmm ill have to catch up on all this. Just seems like the Jedi weren't that resistant.

In general, this rings true. Sad, but true.
I never got how things would be balanced if the dark side was eliminated. If you put nothing on one side of a scale with weights on the other it isn't really balanced is it?
Same
Pretty much why Grey Jedi existed.
So technically the time of the empire was the most balanced cause there were a few of each side
If it became unbalanced then it would be torn spart by storms.
I’ve always liked jedi shadows the subgroup of sentinels. Super useful at anytime in galactic history and if more would have existed they could have stopped the sith or at least easier survive order 66 due to the nature of there training and missions

Ok, my deep thought for the day. Carry on.
The Jedi Sentinel has been my favorite class ever since first heard that there were different cast inside the Jedi Order.
Agreed. They are to me the best Jedi class
Kinda reminds me of a short story describing the 3
3 Jedi of each class walk up to a locked door
The Consular knocks
The Guardian breaks in the door
The Sentinel picks the lock
For a lot of lore about how powerful these guys are, they did a whole lot of good when it came to defending the temple.
Plo Koon was originally planned to be a Jedi Sentinel. The game "jedi power battles" shows this best.
Finally my favourites
:)
Kotor 1 and 2 gave me a deep appreciation for all of the
"major classes" of Jedi: Consular, Guardian, Sentinel; and Sith: Marauders, Lords, and Assassins. (Even though the whole "class" system gets kind of muddy with the prestige for jedi going into Weapon Master, Watchman, and Master. I Guess jedi Master is a Rank as well as a Class according to them lol)
But, well to be blunt I like the sith better in every aspect except for the rule of 2 and the restriction to red lightsabers (favorite is green with purple as a close second, blue is third, red fourth, yellow fifth, all others after if you dont count specialty crystals that make unique blades like the Lava Saber or those cold crystal and the freezing blades they make), but I'll pick a type of jedi to keep things fair.
This makes me hungry for a temple guards vs inquisitors video
Dude your intro is amazing it brings back to many memories
How did they not sense Palpatine was a sith lord and his plot to destroy the jedi
I’ve always liked the way jedi work together, though I think
Consular jedi preserve the light
Sentinels prevent dark side threads from emerging
And guardians destroy the threat when it emerges
You got guardian and sentinel backwards
Basically, the temple guards are just the badass warriors of the Jedi order. Don't mess with em.
This video was so helpful for me who is writing a Star Wars book based on a former Jedi temple guard who survived order 66
Best temple guard line from clone wars "Cease Hostilities!"
You forgot about Asajj Ventress for sith assassins
The only dark truth was the Senate.
Palpatine wanted them dead and yet his future granddaughter would wield a yellow lightsaber after his final defeat.
This is precisely why my Cal uses a yellow lightsaber. He falls under the category of Sentinel pretty damned well imho.
THEIR MASKS ARE F*CKING AWESOME
If they were determined to destroy any threat, then it’s safe to say this is why they weren’t sent off into missions like they should’ve been. Damn that would’ve made such a big difference in their efforts if the the temple guards weren’t just guards..
As Anakin stated, the Jedi held back extremely and that’s why the war continued to pushed their efforts into the drain. Imagine the Temple Guards joining in with Anakin on missions and that would be a perfect match. No wonder why the Grand Inquisitor lost faith in them, they didn’t let him get any chance to provide progress with his fellow sentinels.

If one plants a garden, and its weeds get out of control, they will need culling. Then, the garden will be healthy again. Creation replaced by destruction replaced by creation. The true balance of the Force.
The key tenants of the Jedi view on the Force:
1.There are only two ways to use the Force; you can either accept the will of the Force, or reject it and impose your own desires.
2.Rejecting it is the Dark Side and the Dark Side will forever dominate your destiny if you use it.
3.There is no middle-ground and no good/safe way to use the Force in anger or desperation.
Counter-Point 1:
The Father exists.
Counter-Point 2:
Various Jedi have various different ideas about plans, their favorite lightsaber combat Forms, what Jedi traditions should or shouldn't be followed, or even the Force itself. If the will of the Force is the Light Side, then Jedi shouldn't have disagreements, because, well, they're letting the will of the Force into themselves.
Counter-Point 3:
The Chosen One was a puppet of the Force, used to wipe out both the Jedi and the Sith. If the Light Side, which they were constantly channeling, was the will of the Force itself, they would at least have gotten a warning.
Counter-Point 4:
The Bendu exists.
Counter-Point 5:
Anakin's ANGER at Sidious for daring to harm his son allowed him to throw Sidious into a reactor chamber. He did a heroic act in anger, big surprise.
*"Hello There! Happy Weekend!"*
I don't know about all this not knowing of how the Sith were operating. At the end of Phantom Menace, they did know the rule of 1 master and one apprentice. They were wondering which one they killed with Maul at Qui Gon's funeral.
I'd really like to see the sentinels in a movie or a series.
Didn't the Grand Inquisitor & other temple guards who turned to the dark side all starting killing other temple guards before Anakin/Vader & 501st got there!!
7:09 Did you mean Canon instead of Legends, because the Grand Inquisitor is a Canon only character.
I wonder if we'll ever see the return of the ancient original jedi (I know it spelled and pronounced differently but idk how to spell it) and this ancient order focused on real balance practicing both the light and dark side and if an individual would lean more to either side the others would bring them back to balance, but unfortunately a group of dark jedi eventually separated and they fought eventually leading to their exile where they would eventually turn into the sith and what remained would entually turned into the jedi we know today
just found your channel, this content is great dude
Glad you enjoy it! Welcome aboard!
501st, Sith Stalkers, and Sentinels were probably the best group of characters in star wars. For what little we get to see of them. And their background all have ties to eachother
When your the 1st view but 20th comment
Lol, YT is wack.
Seeing a video talking about the Jedi sentinels and the temple guard makes me very happy.
you forgot about the fourth branch of the Jedi Samuel L. Jackson they had purple lightsabers
and were skilled in being cool and denying the rank of master
Clone: "Order 66 for jedi; order 69 for padawans."
Clone commando: "Your cloning process is flawed; like the frog that fails to utilize jedi sentinels as needed."
Next Week: The dark truth behind Jogan fruit
Um I know also there were a lot of sentinels who kinda acted like green lanterns, and patrolled or "protected" a certain planet or parts of a planet. Also in cannon I don't think he is considered a Sentinel but because of his abilities I always think of him as such, but we know Quinlan Vos survived the purge and in legends at least it said he survived a lot longer than that.
Cool
Cool
@@geetslys you actually responded!!! I love your content so much it’s the best Star Wars lore out there
If they took thier responsibility seriously. The moment the temple was attacked, they'd have fled to the under city and hid. You can't hunt the dark side if you're dead
Can we talk about prestige classes
Like from League of Legends?
@@geetslys KOTOR 2 prestige classes?
@@geetslys I don’t think he’s talking about prestige skins lol
Jedi watchmen was the shizz
The Inquisitor theory makes a lot of sense a lot of the brothers and sisters I haven't heard of during cannon and a lot of the wear mask like the guard
but if the jedi thought the sith were no more after that war then why did yoda knew that there are always two?
Don't think it's canon anymore but a handful of sith did turn to the light; one destroyed half their holocrons and ancient writings before his apprentice stopped him, and the one who revealed the rule of 2 was a dark jedi around 180 years before phantom menace who fell to the darkside but apparently learned during his studies that the rule of 2 existed from the cult on dromund kaas started by darth milennial, who left the order to start the prophets of the dark side just 2 generations after bane.
oh ok thanks
Yoda and other masters mistakes:
1. Relegating Sentinels to the sidelines via the service corps
2. Thinking the sentinels as unnecessary
3. Thinking the sentinels as lesser Jedi
4. Thinking the sentinels untrustworthy for their focus on rooting out the dark side.
5.
I'd like to think that a single digit few sentinals where sent out to investigate and trace the path of the Sith after Naboo. Mabee a few of them survived and tried to assasinte sidious, vader and other high Imperials in the Dark ages. It's a good potential for an interesting story and I hope it get's mentioned somwhere, even if it only was part of a sourcebook under the section of all asesination attempts on palpatine :).
Ever since I was a kid the Jedi Sentinels were the coolest class of Jedi. Yellow is also my favorite lightsaber color so it works out.
