Another great video, I never expect anything less. I don’t know what you do for a living, Sir, but you would make a terrific teacher. Even your manner of speaking and your voice is conducive to an excellent learning experience. BTW, I love the hat and good choice of color.
Many thanks for the kind words. I’ve always wanted to teach history but went in another direction. Maybe when I retire, I’ll find a little college that will let me teach a history class or two.
Thank you, you answered all my questions. I wear a felt stratoliner everyday. I just picked up a Milan in biege 7 5/8 fits my 7 3/4 LO melon perfectly. It's my new daily driver on the ranch.
Great video! I went with the hemp Stratoliner after comparing both straws side by side. The hemp was softer, looser weave that felt like it allowed more airflow.
Far and away my favorite Stetson, I like the open road but it’s become the go-to for hipsters these days and the StratOliner just presents soooo much style while being extremely wearable. Love it, have a felt silver belly and a hemp one for the season, debating picking up another straw one.
Love the style and the history.... Just received my Open Road 10x toast (love it ) I tried it on and it fit great , felt good 👍 ,was very light - wife said I now looked Amish (lol) so with a little steam and just a touch of the front brim down and flattened the back brim I'm looking more like a park Ranger - love my O.R !!! Peace ✌️
I’m a tall guy and as such wider brim hats suit me better. Not everyone can pull off wearing the open road…or other styles. I have two stratoliners and a rancher 4X that I bought new 50 years ago. Next up… a Stetson Dune 5X gun club hat. A crossover felt wit a quite wide brim that is bound. Like your channel. Thanks
It’s way better than the open road !! As is the Saxon , whippet , key club and every other Stetson fedora . I started with an open road , but when I got my first stratoliner and whippet Stetson fedora I quickly put the open road to the side !! Although in the summer I do like a straw open road
I bought a felt Stratoliner a few months ago and love it, I think I might need a straw version for the change of season. Great video, and I appreciated the aviation history lesson. Well done.
Many thanks for the kind words. I love my straw Stratoliner. My Open Road 10X straw hat has been feeling lonely since the Stratoliner moved into the house.
I went looking for an Open Road, but left the hat shop with this same straw Stratoliner. Such an amazing hat that looks good on everyone. Being a synthetic it should be more durable in uncertain weather perhaps?
Thank you for the interesting history of the Stratoliner. The hat looks great, I like the color you choose. I own a hemp version and a furfelt version of the Stratoliner and like them alot. Please keep up the great work with your videos, I enjoy them very much. Kind Regards Oliver
Fabulous hat! Looks good on you, too. That's a great color, and a great color on you. wear it in good health. I didn't know this hat existed. I have a felt Premier Stratoliner in silverbelly that I really like, and wear often. I'm on my way to the website to order a Straw Strat right now! Thanks for enlightening me!!! And thanks for explaining that toiletmetric mass system!!!
Hi, excellent videos. :) Would you mind sharing what would be the name of the original hat? You mention "they simply changed the name of the hat" as in rebranded a hat they had been making for 40 years...". Thanks for any info on it!
Thank you for this! I love my open roads. I was strongly considering purchasing the Stratoliner, but after your review I decided not to. I prefer the shorter crown over the taller. Thanks again!
@@historynerdsmancave7567 thank you sir, for taking the time to reply to me. The cognac in my size is unfortunately sold out. I hope these guys come back in stock soon. 🙏❤️
I kinda like the looks of the straw Open Road better. When the weather warms up. I'd like to hear about your experiences with both. Did you have a good experience with DelMonico ? I've thought of ordering from them.
@@historynerdsmancave7567 I have seen the other video. I don't know if I'm s Stetson guy. We'll see. I'm considering buying a custom made hat from Burns in Utah. They do all the hats for the tv show "Yellow stone". I bought my Panama from Ultrafino in Lynnwood WA. They do the finishing and blocking there.
Received my Cognac Stetson Stratoliner Milan today. Stetson claims it has a "cowhide sweatband." In reality, it has a faux leather or "pleatherette" plastic coated fabric sweatband. The sweatband feels like it's made from a vinyl coated tablecloth! That aside, it is a beautiful straw hat. I'm just disappointed at Stetson's extreme lack of quality and blatantly deceitful materials description.
My Milan strat is great , hate to hear there is some lack of quality with your hat , but I can guarantee that milan straw is extremely durable and almost indestructible
This is like taking a free college history course. Thanks, Professor!

Demonico hatter is 30 minutes from my house. Great family owned hat store
Nice seeing the DelMonico’s hat box.
Wow, great video. As a aviation and classic hat enthusiast, I really enjoyed your presentation.
Thanks!

By the way, the StratOliner hemp and felt come in deluxe hat boxes. The basic model straw does not.
@@PAINTnPONG Thanks for the input. I've been debating about buying a hemp version...and you may have just tipped the scale.

Ive been eyeing the Stetson Dune Gun Club myself, but that feather in the band has got to go. Thanks for watching.
I have that white and grey strat and I see the difference in the hat and the bound edge it don’t all blend together to look like all one color To me
That is a good looking hat and it suits you. I do like that contrasting color bead on the edge to set off the cognac color.
Some of the best hat content on TH-cam. You deserve many buttloads of subscribers.
Love your unboxing videos
Hats look good on you in the videos I've seen. Great content. Thanks for the back stories.
Not my favorite hat but certainly another great story, thanks for taking the time to do another history class.
Hi History nerd, I have a Stetson Stratoliner Florentine Milan Straw Hat also, in a beige color. Enjoy your video like always.
I have wrestled with buying a Stratoliner felt hat and expect I will if I can catch a end of season sale
Always love your videos
Thanx
I dig the history section the most!

That's a nice looking hat but I prefer the Open Road hat.
Nice hat! Good review as always! I gotta admit tho, I do like the OR best!
I’m with you, Bubba, and Mrs. Nerd is no fan of the Stratoliner when I wear it.

The fact that folks find these videos useful and informative is the reason I make them. Thanks for watching.
These are completely sold out on stetson’s website :(
Loove the cognac
Love your videos please keep em coming! Subscribed ❤
Thanks for the kind words. I ordered mine online from DelMonico Hatter.

I used to be the manager of the warehouse and retail store for them before I went to work for Hat Co
DelMonico would have given you free sizing strips if you asked. Also I cover your great state and would love to meet up next time I’m through
Great vid!!!!
First! Hey History nerd, any chance we’ll see some American Hat Company action?
Honestly, I’m pretty loyal to Stetson, and because of the company’s long history, there’s lots of stories I can share.
Thanks!
You’re most kind. Thanks for watching, Bubba. Glad you liked the video. God bless.
hah, man i can feel that look when you listed the prices of those straw hats.
Golden age of flight, we are currently in the age of sardines 😂😂😂
Any idea what the difference between Stratoliner and Stratoliner B is?

Del Monico was great with lightning fast shipping. There are a couple of other videos about the Stetson Open Road straw hat on my channel.

Nice hat, just not my cup of tea with the bound brim, thanks for the information!
It’s a bit outside my normal comfort zone, as well, but I thought I’d try something new…
It's a fedora, please snap the front brim down
If you'll go to 19:10 in the video, Chief, I snapped the sumbitch down just like you suggest.
Why not set up a mirror begind the camera?
president truman used one of these didnt he?
