I have X-large glove hands myself. No problems with grips with either magazine. Also have had no problems with the trigger. I have put through over 1,000 rounds with no issues or failures. This is now my full time carry firearm. BTW, love the sights.
I carry the hellcat with the 13 round mag here in Colorado since it’s winter and I have baggy clothes on all the time. Put about 200 or so rounds through it so far and I absolutely love it
The new 15 round magazine solves the pinky issue! Dramatically decreased the recoil for me too. Also the spring breaks in overtime and that recoil gets a little bit better!
I personally carry Springfield XD45, so looking for a back up carry. Was a little surprised that it didnt have the grip safety. Looking and researched alot on the hellcat. Gonna have to go and shot it and see how I feel about it. Great video 👏👏👍👍. Thanks...

I absolutely love my Hellcat. Such a great little shooter and it’s by super easy to conceal. I do run a Hyve magazine extension, which makes it 14+1. Carried it for over 2 years, just last week I went to the Sig P365 X Macro, which is the exact same size as the small Hellcat w/the Hyve extension, and I get 3 more rounds. But I’d still give the Hellcat 5 out of 5 stars. Nothing bad to say about it.
I'm a smaller female, 5' 105. Just purchased this, dry fired a bunch and never had issue with trigger. Fits perfectly in my hand and on my person with the 11+1. I'm super excited to shoot it. Appreciate your videos!
Bishop M same. Usually it’s when people tinker with after market parts. Just leave it the gun stock unless it’s going to a competent gunsmith who has the experience. Even still better to just leave the internals stock. But you rarely hear of Shields failing.
josh48315 that makes sense considering the 1.0 trigger supposedly being shit. A lot of comments I see as soon as someone buys a shield or is contemplating buying one is “oh make sure you get an aftermarket trigger!” I was told the same with my m&p 9 compact but I don’t mind having it function the way it did out of the factory over something that won’t make me a better shooter
Did the Loaded Mag for 6+Month Test today. (1st) S&W M&P .40 w/Conversion Barrel .40S&W-9mm - 2 S&W Mags, 1-8rd Mag fully loaded 6+Months went first, ran without issue. Next was a 6rd Mag minus 1rd loaded for 6+Months, ran without issue. (2nd) S&W M&P Bodyguard 380ACP - 1-S&W Mag 6rd w/only 5rds loaded for 6+Months, Had a Failure to Feed last round. My concluding thought is I “Retract” a previous statement, and submit “you should change out your Magazines more then every 6+Months” every ounce of advantage during a defensive encounter should be taken. For complete knowledge of your own equipment run a similar test, so you know for sure. But the F2F reminded me to go over corrective actions. For example, We should be able to take apart our “Firearms Blind Folded” so in Low light live situations, can correct a stoppage and place our defense back into action. Thanks Again Sensei, would not have thought do the test if it wasn’t for you covering this, 6+Months ago. I wish I would have wrote down the exact date.

Last Saturday I was able to finally purchase the 4" Shield with the red dot. Although I only have a couple hundred rounds through it, I really like it. My first gen Shield has never given me problems.
The only thing about my first gen is the strength of the recoil spring. Not going to drop the slide off the stop one handed, should that become necessary. Reportedly, the Gen 2 has a better trigger, but I wouldn't know.
I had to take the pinky extension off my little mag and put the flush one on. I have big ol' beef-fingers, and I can get a way better grip with 2 fingers than 2 1/2. Added bonus- less of it shows when I carry inside the waistband. Also, it seems everyone has problems with a sticky trigger if not pulled properly. I never had a problem with it, but could make it happen easily on purpose. Fixed it by barely rounding off the sharp edge on the back of the trigger safety where it meets the frame. And I mean barely, didn't want to nullify the safety. Now I can pull through if I hit the trigger first, but it won't go with only the trigger or excessive force.
I have XL hands as well. And considering the reliability and accuracy of this little pistol, combined with its awesome capacity I love it. I wish the trigger was a little lighter but its fine. And as for the issue with the trigger safety locking up use a small piece of very fine grit sandpaper and you can take the extreme 90° edge off the back of the safety and then its a non issue. It still functions fine as an inertia block if the firearm is dropped but its able to be fired if you roll your finger onto the trigger from the side. Good luck and keep on shooting!
Let’s be real. The point of the safety is “kid hands trying to pull the trigger”. I’m glad small fingers can’t shoot it without knowing proper pull. It’s not even small hands. Some what it is experience and knowing where to pull..
I have literally not heard that from a single person. I would 100% mention it, and your pejorative nonsense is just that. We have HKs come through the classes I teach all the time, and have not seen any problems with them. I just polled about 15 national-level trainers to see if they have seen any increase in issues with VP9s, and none have.

If you have pinky issues even with the 13 round magazine, what true sub-compact 9 mm pocket pistol can really work for you? I have XL hands myself and have yet to find a truly subcompact pistol that doesn't leave a pinky hanging. The Glock 26 should have the same issue, as would the P365, PPQ, etc. HK has the P30 but it's kinda on the thick/tall side. The single stacks that are true pocket pistols all will leave a pinky hanging. I was holding out hope that the Hellcat with the 13 round magazine and adaptive texturing would be the answer. Dang.
That’s funny how some people don’t like the grip safety, but others prefer it when appendix carry. I had the same issue with the trigger safety on the XDS .45 I have medium size hands and being the .45 ACP it makes for a longer grip between trigger. I noticed I was only getting the tip of my finger and needed to get that middle of the pad to make sure the trigger safety was engaged. Don’t have the issue any more. Looks like I might be getting a few hellcat for my self and wife.
If your wife is still interested in the Hellcat tell her to check out the RDP variant of it, they changed the ergonomics to the trigger to mitigate that trigger saftey issue.
Funny how only the large "tacticool" channel folks have found issues with the trigger locking up. I have not been able to find a single smaller channel report this issue. I've got a P365, so I have no pony in this race. I just find it funny how the big channels make huge deals put of the most ridiculous, unlikely scenarios and pretend that's the status quo.
Not sure where that animosity comes from, dude. I have a primary responsibility to my viewers to tell them what my thoughts are on the gun. My wife REALLY wanted to like this gun, and literally cannot use it. I put it in the hands of a couple other people, and it worked okay. My hands are too large for it. That's not anything other than me reporting to you what I found.

I'm simply saying that 99.99% of TH-camrs haven't found this "problem", except to mention that "some people have said this is a problem, but I can't get it to fail." No animosity on my end, but the animosity to Springfield reeks from the reviews that identify this as being a major problem. The same sort of mentality that tried to demonize the P365 because under EXTREMELY unlikely scenarios, the gun was **maybe** not drop safe, so the gun is garbage and terrible.
I tried to replicate it and it does happen, but I've never actually been able to replicate it when firing the gun. They should fix it but it doesn't affect me at all.

My brother got one he put a little over 2k rounds through it so far and he absolutely loves it way more than he thought he would. I shot it too and its pretty cool. In terms of recoil it just feels like any other sub compact 9, G43, XDS take your pick. Seems to work good enough. Personally I run around with a CZ RAMI but I like the hellcat. Haven’t tried a 365.
Good review. I do disagree with you big time on the Crossbreed holsters. IMO they are very good quality. I do find myself using my Vedder more often. But the Crossbreed is more comfortable and it secures the trigger guard very well. However I’ve never tried a hybrid with appendix carry.
I've had the same trigger safety issue with my Canik TP9SFX. It is easily fixed with an exacto blade. You remove material from the safety behind the trigger, until it clears just a little bit sooner as the dingus thing is pressed. Of course if you go too far, then it will clear all the time rendering the trigger safety useless, so beware. If that happens, then you'll need a replacement trigger, which is not something that I want on a carry gun. The Canik trigger is pretty darn good out of the box, but that safety just needed a trim job. Be sure to test by pressing hard on the trigger, without pressing the safety, and be sure that the trigger is blocked from going to the rear, even if pressed hard.
I love my Hellcat. No problems with trigger, so I guess I don't have bird fingers. I don't have beefy hands either, so it is comfortable in my hands. I don't mind the recoil, because I have learned to grip the gun hard to prevent "noodling". The higher recoil of the micro compact compared to my larger 9 mm home defense gun allows me to conceal it with confidence, so I can actually carry it.
Small pistols are way easier to shoot with .380. The gun won't jump around and your limited pinky grip won't slip. I noticed this shooting the sig238 and 938 side by side at a demo. I have also shot an XDS in 45acp. Way too much bang for a little gun.
I have the Hellcat, and have had the P365, liked both, but the Hellcat just fits my hand better. As far as the trigger, I’ve not experienced any issues while shooting, but can “make it” happen if I try. I think your presentation of this “issue” was accurate and well said, thanks.
Nice review..interesting trigger issue with the "birdie fingers". The M&P hinge is exactly the same for me and it did cause problems...still carry a shield..cause I'm in CA and I cant get a 43.
Thanks for the review. I’m relatively new to the CC world. I just got a hybrid holster from Raw Dog Tactical and I actually like it. It has 2 adjustable retention screws. The gun doesn’t fall out and it’s pretty comfy. I wear it 9 o’clock. I think that it’s personal preference as to whether they’re garbage or not.
Well, I train people to carry firearms for a living, and with a bunch of experience and expertise in the area, I would stand by what I said. If it's a hybrid, it's not good.

For the record I’ve watched your videos on hybrid holsters. And I learn a ton from you every time. My thing is I don’t blindly follow people unless the truth resonates with me. My holster from the mentioned company above is fantastic. Maybe once it’s worn out and loses retention etc, my mind will change. But for now I like it. And I don’t think its garbage for me.
I use a JHI kydex holster, all of my hybrids either wear on the leather side and get loose, or are just too large to wear comfortably. The exception is the black arch protos-m because its kydex shell wraps around the trigger guard on both sides. Even with that it is still too large for many situations.
An easy answer to your prayers........VP9sk......choose your own mag setups, for the striker guys and gals........... P2000sk or P30sk for hammer fired peeps, with different trigger options, and mag options too. And .40 is available if you have to have it that way. Put an Olight mini weaponlight on it and order holsters for both lighted and without carry. You be the judge. Quality is excellent. Prices and availability do vary. Problem solved.
@@ASPextra P2000 & P2000sk in 9mm are usually pretty close at hand. VP9 & VP9sk are inside but accomplish the same thing. USP40s also are around quite handy on surveillance. If somebody has to own just one do everything gun to carry, etc., hard to beat the VP9sk or a G19.
I just sanded the trigger safety of mine, just rounded it instead of having the ledge being to sharp.... Now it can disengage if you correct your finger even after it "locks up"
i have average hands, found this to be the best micro 9 for me to shoot. the P365 and many single stacks were just a bit small in diameter for me, this is the smallest of just right in feel. I do need the 13 round mag or the pinky extension to shoot it accurately. Even with the 13 round mag it conceals better (by far) than any gun that has a standard capacity of 15+1. I did have an initial issue, with out grip zone put in the frame I have no idea where to hold it.
Recently got a hellcat. Having trouble shooting it as well as my Glock 43x. I’m a Glock guy so I’m used to the trigger but idk if it’s the trigger of the hellcat or the grip size or what but I just cannot shoot it as well
Advantage Sig 365. No doohickey on the trigger that has to be depressed. Mine has yet to have any issues, and it's an early production gun. I haven't fired the Springfield gun yet, to be fair. Just saying.
Shields fail on the line? I have three of them never had a issue after thousands of rounds. These statements scare the shit out me because its my primary off duty gun and i shoot crap out of it and it just runs. Love ur video . Please make one on m and p shield failures.
One thing to remember for all of these reviews of the Hellcat: Springfield sent these guns to top social media influencers to review. It’s marketing, pure and simple. So that means each gun was hand picked by Springfield, which means it endured rigorous testing, quality control, and attention to detail that is far beyond what would normally be done for a standard production model that a regular consumer such as you or I would receive. So all of these influencers doing reviews are receiving perfect, white glove, hand picked guns to “review”. Just remember that and to take all of the reviews with a grain of salt. Springfield saw what happened with the problems with the P365 so they’re being smart with their marketing and getting all of the top social media influencers to review the Hellcat. Time will tell of the true reliability test once we have thousands of these in the field in the hands of regular consumers, and not hand picked models that were specifically selected by Springfield.

I can't and won't. They COULD be production line guns, but I wouldn't bet on it. And this one will get 1000 rounds through it, which is more than most people will shoot their guns in their life.
Active Self Protection Extra we agree, highly doubt that SA gave you or any of the other online influencers standard run of the mill production line guns. SA is known for sponsoring influencers (they sponsored TFB for a long time, the bias was apparent). Not saying the reviewers are sponsored , but SA is definitely making sure that the best guns are in that spotlight. This is what every company would do, so discussing it is moot at this point. And remember there were plenty of P365s that were fine up to 1000 rounds but then at 1500 or 2000 rounds the striker was breaking. What I was talking about is the true test of reliability is when the production guns are in the hands of thousands of consumers over many months and a years time we will get a true glimpse of what the reliability is like THAT no one can argue with. That’s the true testament of reliability with any new product. Take the early marketing reviews with a grain of salt :) As for the “most people don’t shoot 1000 rounds in their lifetime”, I agree, but that sentiment is starting to change as more people get into training and taking classes. Even if you go to the range 4 times a year and only bring 4-5 boxes with you, that right there is 800-1000 rounds in a year. Not to mention if you take a class with the gun, a 4 hour day class you’re shooting 400-500 rounds easy. A multi day class you’re shooting a lot more. When people say things like “most people don’t even shoot 1000 rounds in their lifetime” that’s another internet phrase that gets repeated often. We know those people exist. Those people aren’t even carrying their gun consistently, if ever at all. But there are still a lot of people out there (and growing) that do shoot more than 1000 rounds in their lifetime and do train and take classes. And that number keeps growing as the attitude and understanding that regular training is necessary spreads to more and more people, partly in thanks to channels like yours :)
@@josh48315 $0.02; 'If' you were to receive a defective product, simply call the customer support line and get a new one. Simple is always better, you are overcomplicating the situation imo. I would disagree with you entirely actually. 'T&E' stands for Testing and Evaluation; he is mostlikely using a T&E gun in the video. These T&E guns are manufactured in the same exact location and manner as any other pistol that is printed within that serial range. When they manufacture these 'T&E' guns, they see it as negative equity from the start, because that is exactly what it is. Most T&E guns are never returned, but when they are returned they are sold as 'factory refurbished'. The tester does have the option to buy the gun at a discount too. Basically, sinking extra and unnecessary time and money into 'T&E' guns frankly does not happen. May look that way because a lot of times they send guns with 'furniture' to impress their customer base, but the quality would be within the margin of error on each imo
It doesn't rub me as bad as the M&P 2.0 I carried, I had to sand down the grip on that one. It feels like a good grip, the marketing speak is just that.

If you pull the trigger at the top it wont break same for my canick s&w 2.0 1.0 all my pistols with the safety built in the trigger do the same thing. This hellcat series will be the best selling springfield yet I'll wait for the popularity to drop off and get it at 399 with bag and mags.
I get the appeal of the small guns for comfort, but I have never had a problem concealing a Glock 19, and I shoot it so much better than these micro wonders. The other thing about my Glock is that at night and I am ready for bed, I can just slap a standard light on it. These small guns are hard to find lights for so it limits their role. Do what works for you. Just don’t compromise shooting proficiency for comfort. If you have to use it, you want make sure you have something you can fight effectively with.
The safety concerns me with carrying a round in the chamber....I would be afraid of the trigger snagging in the pocket and it goes off...my 92FS has a decocker/safety so there is no way that I could have an accidental discharge while carrying in my shoulder holster.

Do you think that trigger not going down is a problem in a situation where adrenaline is pumping and you may not pull the gun trigger correctly and causing the trigger to lock up on you because you panicked? Ofcourse its training and I don't see how you can pull that trigger wrong but something to think about.
I don't think it'll happen if it doesn't ever happen in practice and training. Get a rental and work from compressed ready and do some fast presentations and first shot. If it doesn't happen after a bunch of those, I don't think it'll happen ever. It's all about finger size.
Too many people put too much emphasis on equipment. Ya, the pinky hangs off. Shoot it more, train with it and it wouldn't be an issue. I know, you can put a extension on it but that defeats the purpose of a small firearm. If you want the full size grip, get a full size gun. KISS.

Active Self Protection Extra I don’t necessarily like the FBD you drew. It implies that there exists a coupling force between the forces from your fingers and the palm of your hand. (I.e. remove the force vector from the barrel and you’re left with your grip force vectors causing coupling. In reality just holding the gun does not cause rotation of the firearm) If I were to draw the FBD wrt the firearm I would draw it in such a way the grip force vectors are in opposite directions on the same axis. The torque that actually counters the rotation of the firearm exists in the wrist and it is our body that induces a moment reaction on the joint of our wrist that counters the moment caused by the firearm and is not because of the moment we put on the grip of the firearm (because like I said before we do not induce a moment on the firearm since our grip force vectors are on the same axis just opposite in direction). Thus I don’t believe the pinky on the grip provides as much as is said.

If the force vectors created by holding the gun were not on the same axis then the gun would rotate (assuming the gun is massless which if we consider mass then that’s a whole other story on where the center of gravity is located and how the weight of the firearm plays a factor just assume massless for ease of conversation) Basically take your FBD and erase the force due to the recoil and what is left over is the grip forces that are in opposite directions however exist on different axis. They are displaced causing coupling. Think of a stick that’s laying on the ground and u push on opposite ends in opposite directions; the stick will rotate. Your point on the wrist counter torque is from the forward pressure from the fingers I don’t think is correct because 1) I can apply a moment reaction force from my wrist without the interaction of my fingers the forces induced by grip strength and wrist rotation are completely independent (i.e. my grip strength is independent of my ability to rotate my wrist forward with force (stick ur fingers straight out you are still able to resist a moment induced on your wrist)) Edit: I would like to do actual tests and experiments on this to get quantitative data for sure it sounds interesting

Luv your channels, value your input/reviews. Did you ever get mag=plate-pinch? Some people get a magazine base plate that wiggles vertically and, after a time, repeatedly pinches their pinky causing blistering. I haven't had the pleasure of shooting this or the 365 as there are no rent-ranges nearby but DO want to get a smaller conceal carry with that capacity.
I had a hellcat and had a terrible time with the trigger. If you have any side pressure to the safety it won’t fire … if I need it in an emergency, I do not want to worry about the trigger not pulling. I was sad … because the hand fell otherwise was fantastic!!
I have an original XDS9 for a summer carry piece. Reliable as an anvil, with a smidge under 10,000rds thru it. My best friend bought a 365 for his wife, and he bought an XL for himself. My Lord, have mercy. That is one SWEET shooting pistol. I put a couple hundred rounds thru it. Highly recommend the 365. Sadly, I haven't been able to get a hold of a Hellcat. The 365XL shoots very softly for a pistol of its size.
@@ASPextra I ended up getting this and love the capacity vs. weight. I got a HYVE mag extension that adds 1/3 rounds and a better purchase on the grip.

I would say that right now, the P365 is the standard by which all other micro 9s are measured. I don't like the ones with the SAS sights, but otherwise it's a fine gun now. When it FIRST came out it had reliability issues, but Sig Sauer fixed them.
Because of the well documented failures with the Sig.. I had a P365XL (passed on the P365, figured I'd give them time to work out the problems) and I had 8 failures in 200 rounds. With my hellcat, 300+ rounds, ZERO failures.

The ergonomics of it next to my 365 just fit me better. I like the sights, trigger, and overall feel of it. I ran over 500 rounds through it with zero failures, and have seen videos of 2000 rounds without cleaning with zero failures. Time will tell but the little things make it the right choice for me, but that doesn't mean it is for you.

I was turned off by the sights myself until I actually got to hold one and WOW it completely changed my preference for the type of sights I like.

I absolutely love my Hellcat. Such a great little shooter and it’s by super easy to conceal. I do run a Hyve magazine extension, which makes it 14+1. Carried it for over 2 years, just last week I went to the Sig P365 X Macro, which is the exact same size as the small Hellcat w/the Hyve extension, and I get 3 more rounds. But I’d still give the Hellcat 5 out of 5 stars. Nothing bad to say about it.

I'm a smaller female, 5' 105. Just purchased this, dry fired a bunch and never had issue with trigger. Fits perfectly in my hand and on my person with the 11+1. I'm super excited to shoot it. Appreciate your videos!

Bishop M same. Usually it’s when people tinker with after market parts. Just leave it the gun stock unless it’s going to a competent gunsmith who has the experience. Even still better to just leave the internals stock. But you rarely hear of Shields failing.
josh48315 that makes sense considering the 1.0 trigger supposedly being shit. A lot of comments I see as soon as someone buys a shield or is contemplating buying one is “oh make sure you get an aftermarket trigger!”
I was told the same with my m&p 9 compact but I don’t mind having it function the way it did out of the factory over something that won’t make me a better shooter
Did the Loaded Mag for 6+Month Test today.
(1st) S&W M&P .40 w/Conversion Barrel .40S&W-9mm - 2 S&W Mags, 1-8rd Mag fully loaded 6+Months went first, ran without issue. Next was a 6rd Mag minus 1rd loaded for 6+Months, ran without issue.
(2nd) S&W M&P Bodyguard 380ACP - 1-S&W Mag 6rd w/only 5rds loaded for 6+Months, Had a Failure to Feed last round.
My concluding thought is I “Retract” a previous statement, and submit “you should change out your Magazines more then every 6+Months” every ounce of advantage during a defensive encounter should be taken. For complete knowledge of your own equipment run a similar test, so you know for sure. But the F2F reminded me to go over corrective actions. For example, We should be able to take apart our “Firearms Blind Folded” so in Low light live situations, can correct a stoppage and place our defense back into action. Thanks Again Sensei, would not have thought do the test if it wasn’t for you covering this, 6+Months ago. I wish I would have wrote down the exact date.

Last Saturday I was able to finally purchase the 4" Shield with the red dot. Although I only have a couple hundred rounds through it, I really like it. My first gen Shield has never given me problems.
The earlier Shields are great. Some of the newer ones, the QC has had trouble.
The only thing about my first gen is the strength of the recoil spring. Not going to drop the slide off the stop one handed, should that become necessary. Reportedly, the Gen 2 has a better trigger, but I wouldn't know.

I gotta say, I really want to shoot one of these. They look pretty damn impressive.
I had to take the pinky extension off my little mag and put the flush one on. I have big ol' beef-fingers, and I can get a way better grip with 2 fingers than 2 1/2. Added bonus- less of it shows when I carry inside the waistband. Also, it seems everyone has problems with a sticky trigger if not pulled properly. I never had a problem with it, but could make it happen easily on purpose. Fixed it by barely rounding off the sharp edge on the back of the trigger safety where it meets the frame. And I mean barely, didn't want to nullify the safety. Now I can pull through if I hit the trigger first, but it won't go with only the trigger or excessive force.
I would NEVER, EVER recommend modifying any safety on a firearm by an end user. Ever. Ever.

I literally asked them if they were sure they wanted to send me one. They were.
I have XL hands as well. And considering the reliability and accuracy of this little pistol, combined with its awesome capacity I love it. I wish the trigger was a little lighter but its fine. And as for the issue with the trigger safety locking up use a small piece of very fine grit sandpaper and you can take the extreme 90° edge off the back of the safety and then its a non issue. It still functions fine as an inertia block if the firearm is dropped but its able to be fired if you roll your finger onto the trigger from the side. Good luck and keep on shooting!

That's crazy, I've been seeing a lot of issues with H&K VP9's failing regularly on the line lately.
I have literally not heard that from a single person. I would 100% mention it, and your pejorative nonsense is just that.
We have HKs come through the classes I teach all the time, and have not seen any problems with them. I just polled about 15 national-level trainers to see if they have seen any increase in issues with VP9s, and none have.

If you have pinky issues even with the 13 round magazine, what true sub-compact 9 mm pocket pistol can really work for you? I have XL hands myself and have yet to find a truly subcompact pistol that doesn't leave a pinky hanging. The Glock 26 should have the same issue, as would the P365, PPQ, etc. HK has the P30 but it's kinda on the thick/tall side. The single stacks that are true pocket pistols all will leave a pinky hanging. I was holding out hope that the Hellcat with the 13 round magazine and adaptive texturing would be the answer. Dang.
That’s funny how some people don’t like the grip safety, but others prefer it when appendix carry. I had the same issue with the trigger safety on the XDS .45 I have medium size hands and being the .45 ACP it makes for a longer grip between trigger. I noticed I was only getting the tip of my finger and needed to get that middle of the pad to make sure the trigger safety was engaged. Don’t have the issue any more. Looks like I might be getting a few hellcat for my self and wife.
If your wife is still interested in the Hellcat tell her to check out the RDP variant of it, they changed the ergonomics to the trigger to mitigate that trigger saftey issue.
In a handgun that is to be used for defence there are only two ratings that should be used in evaluating the trigger; Excellent or Not Exceptable.
Funny how only the large "tacticool" channel folks have found issues with the trigger locking up. I have not been able to find a single smaller channel report this issue.
I've got a P365, so I have no pony in this race. I just find it funny how the big channels make huge deals put of the most ridiculous, unlikely scenarios and pretend that's the status quo.

My wife REALLY wanted to like this gun, and literally cannot use it. I put it in the hands of a couple other people, and it worked okay. My hands are too large for it. No animosity on my end, but the animosity to Springfield reeks from the reviews that identify this as being a major problem. The same sort of mentality that tried to demonize the P365 because under EXTREMELY unlikely scenarios, the gun was **maybe** not drop safe, so the gun is garbage and terrible.
I tried to replicate it and it does happen, but I've never actually been able to replicate it when firing the gun. They should fix it but it doesn't affect me at all.

My Hellcat fits perfectly in my Glock 43X Blackhawk Serpa holster. It may fit in other brands of for the 43X.

My brother got one he put a little over 2k rounds through it so far and he absolutely loves it way more than he thought he would. I shot it too and its pretty cool. In terms of recoil it just feels like any other sub compact 9, G43, XDS take your pick. Seems to work good enough. Personally I run around with a CZ RAMI but I like the hellcat. Haven’t tried a 365.

Good review. I do disagree with you big time on the Crossbreed holsters. IMO they are very good quality. I do find myself using my Vedder more often. But the Crossbreed is more comfortable and it secures the trigger guard very well. However I’ve never tried a hybrid with appendix carry.
I've had the same trigger safety issue with my Canik TP9SFX. It is easily fixed with an exacto blade. You remove material from the safety behind the trigger, until it clears just a little bit sooner as the dingus thing is pressed. Of course if you go too far, then it will clear all the time rendering the trigger safety useless, so beware. If that happens, then you'll need a replacement trigger, which is not something that I want on a carry gun. The Canik trigger is pretty darn good out of the box, but that safety just needed a trim job. Be sure to test by pressing hard on the trigger, without pressing the safety, and be sure that the trigger is blocked from going to the rear, even if pressed hard.
Yeah, I think home gunsmithing a safety is something I am not willing to do.

I love my Hellcat. No problems with trigger, so I guess I don't have bird fingers. I don't have beefy hands either, so it is comfortable in my hands. I don't mind the recoil, because I have learned to grip the gun hard to prevent "noodling". The higher recoil of the micro compact compared to my larger 9 mm home defense gun allows me to conceal it with confidence, so I can actually carry it.
Hickok45 said the same thing about the grip being beefier. He liked the sights though. Interesting gun.

Small pistols are way easier to shoot with .380. The gun won't jump around and your limited pinky grip won't slip. I noticed this shooting the sig238 and 938 side by side at a demo. I have also shot an XDS in 45acp. Way too much bang for a little gun.
Thats why glock 42 is my fav cc gun.

I have the Hellcat, and have had the P365, liked both, but the Hellcat just fits my hand better. As far as the trigger, I’ve not experienced any issues while shooting, but can “make it” happen if I try. I think your presentation of this “issue” was accurate and well said, thanks.
If you have a regular size hand you won't likely see that problem pop up.
I bought hyve mag extensions, they're about .25" longer and hold 14. Perfect for bigger hands and is still a very small gun

Thanks for the review. I’m relatively new to the CC world. I just got a hybrid holster from Raw Dog Tactical and I actually like it. It has 2 adjustable retention screws. The gun doesn’t fall out and it’s pretty comfy. I wear it 9 o’clock. I think that it’s personal preference as to whether they’re garbage or not.
Well, I train people to carry firearms for a living, and with a bunch of experience and expertise in the area, I would stand by what I said. If it's a hybrid, it's not good.

For the record I’ve watched your videos on hybrid holsters. And I learn a ton from you every time. My thing is I don’t blindly follow people unless the truth resonates with me. My holster from the mentioned company above is fantastic. Maybe once it’s worn out and loses retention etc, my mind will change. But for now I like it. And I don’t think its garbage for me.
Just way bulky, poor concealment, and the retention will start to fail guaranteed.
I use a JHI kydex holster, all of my hybrids either wear on the leather side and get loose, or are just too large to wear comfortably. The exception is the black arch protos-m because its kydex shell wraps around the trigger guard on both sides. Even with that it is still too large for many situations.

An easy answer to your prayers........VP9sk......choose your own mag setups, for the striker guys and gals...........
P2000sk or P30sk for hammer fired peeps, with different trigger options, and mag options too. And .40 is available if you have to have it that way. Put an Olight mini weaponlight on it and order holsters for both lighted and without carry. You be the judge. Quality is excellent. Prices and availability do vary. Problem solved.

@@ASPextra P2000 & P2000sk in 9mm are usually pretty close at hand. VP9 & VP9sk are inside but accomplish the same thing. USP40s also are around quite handy on surveillance. If somebody has to own just one do everything gun to carry, etc., hard to beat the VP9sk or a G19.

I just sanded the trigger safety of mine, just rounded it instead of having the ledge being to sharp.... Now it can disengage if you correct your finger even after it "locks up"
That's an interesting fix. It doesn't give me problems and my wife won't carry it because of the problem, so I doubt I will do that.
i have average hands, found this to be the best micro 9 for me to shoot. the P365 and many single stacks were just a bit small in diameter for me, this is the smallest of just right in feel. I do need the 13 round mag or the pinky extension to shoot it accurately. Even with the 13 round mag it conceals better (by far) than any gun that has a standard capacity of 15+1. I did have an initial issue, with out grip zone put in the frame I have no idea where to hold it.

Recently got a hellcat. Having trouble shooting it as well as my Glock 43x. I’m a Glock guy so I’m used to the trigger but idk if it’s the trigger of the hellcat or the grip size or what but I just cannot shoot it as well
Maybe time to seek out a lesson with an instructor who can help you figure it out.

Advantage Sig 365. No doohickey on the trigger that has to be depressed. Mine has yet to have any issues, and it's an early production gun. I haven't fired the Springfield gun yet, to be fair. Just saying.
Shields fail on the line? I have three of them never had a issue after thousands of rounds. These statements scare the shit out me because its my primary off duty gun and i shoot crap out of it and it just runs. Love ur video . Please make one on m and p shield failures.
It's mainly the newer guns that S&W started cranking out in droves for crazy low prices, and it seems the QC on them is spottier.
One thing to remember for all of these reviews of the Hellcat: Springfield sent these guns to top social media influencers to review. It’s marketing, pure and simple. So that means each gun was hand picked by Springfield, which means it endured rigorous testing, quality control, and attention to detail that is far beyond what would normally be done for a standard production model that a regular consumer such as you or I would receive. So all of these influencers doing reviews are receiving perfect, white glove, hand picked guns to “review”. Just remember that and to take all of the reviews with a grain of salt. Springfield saw what happened with the problems with the P365 so they’re being smart with their marketing and getting all of the top social media influencers to review the Hellcat. Time will tell of the true reliability test once we have thousands of these in the field in the hands of regular consumers, and not hand picked models that were specifically selected by Springfield.
That's not a bad assumption that they made sure the guns were good guns, but that's what it is: an assumption.

I can't and won't. They COULD be production line guns, but I wouldn't bet on it. And this one will get 1000 rounds through it, which is more than most people will shoot their guns in their life.
Active Self Protection Extra we agree, highly doubt that SA gave you or any of the other online influencers standard run of the mill production line guns. SA is known for sponsoring influencers (they sponsored TFB for a long time, the bias was apparent). Not saying the reviewers are sponsored , but SA is definitely making sure that the best guns are in that spotlight. This is what every company would do, so discussing it is moot at this point.
And remember there were plenty of P365s that were fine up to 1000 rounds but then at 1500 or 2000 rounds the striker was breaking. What I was talking about is the true test of reliability is when the production guns are in the hands of thousands of consumers over many months and a years time we will get a true glimpse of what the reliability is like THAT no one can argue with. That’s the true testament of reliability with any new product. Take the early marketing reviews with a grain of salt :)
As for the “most people don’t shoot 1000 rounds in their lifetime”, I agree, but that sentiment is starting to change as more people get into training and taking classes. Even if you go to the range 4 times a year and only bring 4-5 boxes with you, that right there is 800-1000 rounds in a year. Not to mention if you take a class with the gun, a 4 hour day class you’re shooting 400-500 rounds easy. A multi day class you’re shooting a lot more. When people say things like “most people don’t even shoot 1000 rounds in their lifetime” that’s another internet phrase that gets repeated often. We know those people exist. Those people aren’t even carrying their gun consistently, if ever at all. But there are still a lot of people out there (and growing) that do shoot more than 1000 rounds in their lifetime and do train and take classes. And that number keeps growing as the attitude and understanding that regular training is necessary spreads to more and more people, partly in thanks to channels like yours :)
@@josh48315 $0.02; 'If' you were to receive a defective product, simply call the customer support line and get a new one. Simple is always better, you are overcomplicating the situation imo. I would disagree with you entirely actually. 'T&E' stands for Testing and Evaluation; he is mostlikely using a T&E gun in the video. These T&E guns are manufactured in the same exact location and manner as any other pistol that is printed within that serial range. When they manufacture these 'T&E' guns, they see it as negative equity from the start, because that is exactly what it is. Most T&E guns are never returned, but when they are returned they are sold as 'factory refurbished'. The tester does have the option to buy the gun at a discount too. Basically, sinking extra and unnecessary time and money into 'T&E' guns frankly does not happen. May look that way because a lot of times they send guns with 'furniture' to impress their customer base, but the quality would be within the margin of error on each imo
I made a mistake rushing into getting my first pistol. Now I'm doing research. That hellcat I think is my next gun.

Note that my pinky kept slipping off, and I have about 115lb of grip strength in both hands. That tells me a lot.
It doesn't rub me as bad as the M&P 2.0 I carried, I had to sand down the grip on that one. It feels like a good grip, the marketing speak is just that.
Why does Springfield send this gun to all these people who just say the same stuff about it, they should send me ( a huge fan of Springfield), one to add to my Springfield collection and would actually appreciate and carry it everyday.

If you pull the trigger at the top it wont break same for my canick s&w 2.0 1.0 all my pistols with the safety built in the trigger do the same thing. This hellcat series will be the best selling springfield yet I'll wait for the popularity to drop off and get it at 399 with bag and mags.

I get the appeal of the small guns for comfort, but I have never had a problem concealing a Glock 19, and I shoot it so much better than these micro wonders. The other thing about my Glock is that at night and I am ready for bed, I can just slap a standard light on it. These small guns are hard to find lights for so it limits their role. Do what works for you. Just don’t compromise shooting proficiency for comfort. If you have to use it, you want make sure you have something you can fight effectively with.
The safety concerns me with carrying a round in the chamber....I would be afraid of the trigger snagging in the pocket and it goes off...my 92FS has a decocker/safety so there is no way that I could have an accidental discharge while carrying in my shoulder holster.

With my wife's sig365 it absolutely hates Winchester ammo the projectile is taller so it doesn't go up to the feed ramp correctly so it jams up

Do you think that trigger not going down is a problem in a situation where adrenaline is pumping and you may not pull the gun trigger correctly and causing the trigger to lock up on you because you panicked? Ofcourse its training and I don't see how you can pull that trigger wrong but something to think about.
I don't think it'll happen if it doesn't ever happen in practice and training. Get a rental and work from compressed ready and do some fast presentations and first shot. If it doesn't happen after a bunch of those, I don't think it'll happen ever. It's all about finger size.

I learned to shoot with gripping only with my ring and middle finger from Hickok so short grips are not an issue for me.

Active Self Protection Extra I don’t necessarily like the FBD you drew. It implies that there exists a coupling force between the forces from your fingers and the palm of your hand. (I.e. remove the force vector from the barrel and you’re left with your grip force vectors causing coupling. In reality just holding the gun does not cause rotation of the firearm)
If I were to draw the FBD wrt the firearm I would draw it in such a way the grip force vectors are in opposite directions on the same axis.
The torque that actually counters the rotation of the firearm exists in the wrist and it is our body that induces a moment reaction on the joint of our wrist that counters the moment caused by the firearm and is not because of the moment we put on the grip of the firearm (because like I said before we do not induce a moment on the firearm since our grip force vectors are on the same axis just opposite in direction). Thus I don’t believe the pinky on the grip provides as much as is said.
But they’re not on the same axis.
And the counter torque in the wrist comes from the forward pressure on the fingers by the frame.

If the force vectors created by holding the gun were not on the same axis then the gun would rotate (assuming the gun is massless which if we consider mass then that’s a whole other story on where the center of gravity is located and how the weight of the firearm plays a factor just assume massless for ease of conversation)
Basically take your FBD and erase the force due to the recoil and what is left over is the grip forces that are in opposite directions however exist on different axis. They are displaced causing coupling.
Think of a stick that’s laying on the ground and u push on opposite ends in opposite directions; the stick will rotate.
Your point on the wrist counter torque is from the forward pressure from the fingers I don’t think is correct because
1) I can apply a moment reaction force from my wrist without the interaction of my fingers
the forces induced by grip strength and wrist rotation are completely independent (i.e. my grip strength is independent of my ability to rotate my wrist forward with force (stick ur fingers straight out you are still able to resist a moment induced on your wrist))
Edit: I would like to do actual tests and experiments on this to get quantitative data for sure it sounds interesting

Luv your channels, value your input/reviews. Did you ever get mag=plate-pinch? Some people get a magazine base plate that wiggles vertically and, after a time, repeatedly pinches their pinky causing blistering. I haven't had the pleasure of shooting this or the 365 as there are no rent-ranges nearby but DO want to get a smaller conceal carry with that capacity.
I haven't had that happen with this gun at all.

I had a hellcat and had a terrible time with the trigger. If you have any side pressure to the safety it won’t fire … if I need it in an emergency, I do not want to worry about the trigger not pulling. I was sad … because the hand fell otherwise was fantastic!!
Where is the mod2 review same size gun and holds three more rounds and in my opinion functions better

Looking seriously at getting this to replace my Springfield XDs .45,,,I need more capacity but cant carry the extra weight of a double stack.
It's worth looking into, depending on your hand size. I'd recommend renting it first.
I have an original XDS9 for a summer carry piece. Reliable as an anvil, with a smidge under 10,000rds thru it. My best friend bought a 365 for his wife, and he bought an XL for himself. My Lord, have mercy. That is one SWEET shooting pistol. I put a couple hundred rounds thru it. Highly recommend the 365. Sadly, I haven't been able to get a hold of a Hellcat. The 365XL shoots very softly for a pistol of its size.
@@ASPextra I ended up getting this and love the capacity vs. weight. I got a HYVE mag extension that adds 1/3 rounds and a better purchase on the grip.
Threw an APEX Trigger in mine problem solved. Now use the 13+1 and 15 rnd mag as extra.
Bought a Hellcat won't carry it The trigger saftey snags on the frame when finger approach angle isn't just right. Especially

Not hearing issues with p365. Is there evidence out there they are having issues?
I would say that right now, the P365 is the standard by which all other micro 9s are measured. I don't like the ones with the SAS sights, but otherwise it's a fine gun now. When it FIRST came out it had reliability issues, but Sig Sauer fixed them.

Because of the well documented failures with the Sig.. I had a P365XL (passed on the P365, figured I'd give them time to work out the problems) and I had 8 failures in 200 rounds. With my hellcat, 300+ rounds, ZERO failures.
fourtraxer yep that too. I’m super interested in the hellcat but I’m going to wait probably a year to make sure it doesn’t have issues like the 365 had
@JusticeAA money issues? These guns are not cheap! P365 would have been a great gun if it wasnt for its reliability issues. I like hellcat also. Prob go for hellcat.
The ergonomics of it next to my 365 just fit me better. I like the sights, trigger, and overall feel of it. I ran over 500 rounds through it with zero failures, and have seen videos of 2000 rounds without cleaning with zero failures. Time will tell but the little things make it the right choice for me, but that doesn't mean it is for you.
I think this gun with a comp on the end would be less snappy
