I have 1,000 rounds fired through my Hellcat OSP with APEX Tactical trigger. Use +P ammo and find after practice, recoil concerns fade away. No malfunctions. Easy to carry and conceal. I had a micro RDS on it, but removed it in preference of the iron sights. Shooting handguns for over 30 years in the military and LE, this micro is accurate, reliable, affordable and easy to conceal.
I have the same setup, not a big fan of the wasp, but it's a great little package. Also have a 43x mos, 365xl and shield plus. Prefer the xl, personally it's just more comfortable to shoot and carry.
The APEX trigger on mine made a huge difference. That's the only upgrade I needed and I love the gun.
@@black87FXR Awesome! Same here. I love my improved trigger too!!
I also installed the APEX trigger and it made a huge difference. I also installed a Hyve Tech guide rod, it’s made of stainless steel and it’s a little heavier. With adding the extra weight of the new guide rod, it did take away a little bit of felt recoil.
thank you. this was more informative then this video
For a video titled Facts Not Feelings there seemed to be a lot of feelings talked about.
you’re not kidding... three minutes of introduction and then - feelings.
😂 very true. Exactly what I was thinking as I was listening to it.
Whoa whoa whoa Feelings! 🎶 😂

I might have missed it, due to the prolonged complaints about the u-notch rear sight, but did you state how many malfunctions you both experienced? Kinda think that would be in your "performance" subset. For myself and many others, that u-notch makes that excellent front sight just pop out...That's the most important thing in a fast defensive shooting. Hellcat front sight is quicker to acquire than my Sig P365. I also like the grip on the Hellcat over my P365.
Excellent point
I have both as well. You are absolutely right
I have multiple pistols... some have 3 dot sights, some have front dot/ rear blacked out sights, some have the U notch rear with dot front, some have low profile unpainted sights... I shoot them all pretty often, and find the U notch style on the Hellcat to be easy to use. It's really not that different from 3 dot sights. Line the 3 dots up with equal space all the way around, and you are hitting what you aim at... put the "ball in the basket" with the U notch and you get the same result. If you can't adapt to differences in firearms, maybe you should train more. 🤷♂️
I like it as well. To me it's easier to use than normal sights.
u notch draws by eye wright in find it ez
I happen to like the U notch . My Hellcat works perfectly and I prefer it over every other micro 9.
There was an awful lot of feelings in this video.
Noted, there is much less feelings in our upcoming vids :)
I own the non osp and RDP versions of the Hellcat. Paired with the 15 round mag and it’s my favorite carry pistol platform.
I guess I'm not understanding what exactly yall are comparing it to??? The 2 guns that popped up as base line guns were the Sig P320 a much bigger gun and the CZ Shadow 2 which is a heavy full size gun bordering on a race gun. So for me the possible end user looking for information this didn't give me anything but you didn't like the sights and it has more recoil then a full size. I had to have missed something here or at least I really hope I did because this made about as much sense as comparing the towing capacity of a Honda Civic to a Ford F250...
We're comparing it to all the other pistols in this series using empirical data.
All pistols are rated against the same standard, so you can then compare the results of any 2 to each other
@@kabic7893 that kinda makes sense but they're completely different guns designed for different uses. There's a lot of differences between my P365XL and my Atlas Athena but almost no comparisons other then they're both handguns chambered in 9mm... You see what I'm saying??
I have well over 1,200 rounds through my hellcat with out a single malfunction. Cant say that about my P-365 or G43X. Although the malfunctions in those guns were either shooter induced or bad ammo. Regardless My hellcat has been flawless
Agreed! Where are all the FACTS when it comes to reliability & durability? My original Hellcat has close to 3,000 rounds of various ammo, with ZERO malfunctions. Some folks ride the slide release and call their fail to lock back, a malfunction. Get a proper grip. Also, snappy recoil can be trained away with a bit of practice.
7:39 So many facts. So few feelings. Amazing. Can't weigh the gun to cite how much lighter it is. 8:48 Whoa whoa whoa, Poindexter! Put down the spreadsheets, ease up on the heavy data, and bring a little humanity to the show! 10:32 LOL! You guys are just trolling with this thing now, right? What facts about the trigger made you like it? How long was the reset? So many fact. Such no feels. 🙄
agreed... i find this totally lame, skipped thru and watched maybe 3mins tops of whole video
I actually love the sights on Springfield. I pick them up better than any other stock sights and the only guns I don't change them on.
Without a weapon light it's pretty snappy, as soon as you put a weapon light on there I think it's easier to control than a Glock 43 with a tlr6
What weapon light?
@@rurouniad using a olight pl mini, I use my support hand thumb to push on the top of the light mount lever
Add a light and you lost a lot of the benefits of the weight and size.
Adding a light soon hopefully it will control the snappy ness 👍
I find that a lot of new shooters who aren't "set in their ways", shoot the U rear sight very well and find their eye finds it on recovery very quickly. IMHO, that sight issue is you YOU issue, not a gun issue. I think the sight is fantastic!
The U notch sight won't work well for everyone. I personally love it and it helps me acquire my sight picture faster than other pistols I've shot. Once I'm thoroughly comfortable with the iron sights, I'm going to add a red dot so my 49-year-old eyes can get on target even easier.
The Hellcat fits my hands (short, somewhat thick fingers) perfectly when I use a 13 or 15 round mag. Maybe that's why I don't have the problems with recoil and muzzle flip that these guys do.
Red dots take an enormous commitment of time $ and practice to be as effective as irons. Karl of Tactical rifleman, former CSM of 5th SFG, says it takes 7000 to 12000 life fire presentations to be competent with a pistol red dot (PRDS) in a actual high stress situation.
I personally think they're great for longer range shooting, but offer next to nothing for real world close range home defense CCW type scenarios. Also, if you have an astigmatism, they suffer from dot bloom just like any other red dot.
@@Followme556 why would this be, if the presentation is similar to that of irons
@@---tx9xx Because the window on pistol red dots is so small, and because you do not have 3 points of contact as you do on a rifle, it requires thousands of presentations with your handgun (preferably from multiple shooting positions) to train the muscle memory for a perfect presentation where the dot is always in the window, otherwise you'll see people moving their wrists and gun all over hunting for the dot.
Unless you plan on a serious commitment to master a PRDS, it is a terrible option for defensive use. Which makes it a terrible option for the casual CCW or home defender.
@victory6actual i havent even shot 7000 rounds and i was instantly much better with a red dot than irons, and i always get 100% score of my range qualifications, so im not bad at all with irons. Red dots dont take much effort or training at all. Just draw the gun a few times and youll get competent with a red dot without any live fire.
For being called facts not feelings you sure added lots of personal feelings about it
Thank you for this informative video on the Hellcat. This helps me make a more informed decision on deciding whether to buy the Hellcat. I like the WW2 framed aircraft photos in the background as well.
It's not Springfield, it's an import with Springfield badge
Yep
If you can’t effectively use the combat sights on a defensive pistol and have difficulty maintaining sight alignment because of recoil, it comes down to a training issue. JMHO.🇺🇸
Why were your baselines full sized pistols?? The Shadow 2?? What am I missing?
I blacked out the U Notch with a sharpie and it helped a lot
After that disaster of release ,delay, recalls I got a Taurus for less than half the price and it worked out of the box the year the manufacturer released it
I shot P365 and Hellcat back to back and preferred the P365. Didn't buy either. I bought a GX4 immediately and carry it wearing light clothing. I should do a back-to-back-to-back with my gun and rentals.
Minor point: SA also offers 10 round and 15 round mags for the Hellcat.
I am a small framed person. The Glock 26 gen 4 is bulky for me. I do shoot well with it, the Sig 365-perfect size. Just a bit snappy. I love the 1" thickness and many other features. I want to try a Hellcat. If the size is similar great. It was good to hear your thoughts onthe sights. I have Glocks and naturally many required upgrades. #1 with any Glock a plug for the frame. The hellcats are close to 600.00? I would not want to have to put money into new sights. This could make a starting price tag to 750.00. Then we are talking holsters. This is not an inexpensive purchase, for my limited amount of money. I do not think if you try to sell in a year you are going to get close to what you paid, especially if you put in even a Talon grip.
I’ve held both and dry fired both. I haven’t been able to shoot either yet but I have the chance to buy a lightly used Hellcat for $400 and I most likely will buy it. They feel close in size. In my opinion the 365 feels better and has a better trigger. The feel and trigger isn’t bad on the Hellcat it’s just meh. The trigger feels ok but not bad. The 365 felt great on the dead display gun I tried. The Sig has more options for grip modules form numerous companies and better support for holsters etc. Both pistols use Meprolight Hyperbright sights so if you don’t like the color get a hyper bright from sight to change it. The U on the Hellcat was made with SA and can’t be bought by any other company.
469 brand new on Brownell probably without OSP and Red Dot
I got a 15 round OEM magazine for Christmas, well before your video.
What an innovative video concept 😉
Ya think? Ha!
@@alancarr3381 good seeing you here!
Salt. ;)
We haven't come across another series that runs each gun against a baseline drill. If you did or do that's awesome, more data for folks! 😉
These girls comparing Hellcat to full size pistols then critical of Hellcat, lol. Own two Hellcats because first one was so compact carry friendly and insanely accurate! I don’t use sights within 40yds utilizing punch drill front sight only technique dead on IPSC size target works for me!
Second Hellcat full brown PRP trigger group with mounted Smith’s red dot and Rugged Obsidian 9mm in micro configuration engaged 8” steel at 100yds, naturally taking extra time steady aim with red dot but haven’t achieved that success with other micro compacts! No worries, two opinions don’t match my personal experiences, no problem!
Chili with no beans is just Sloppy Joe FJB
If you add beans to chili it becomes stew…
How about a facts on Springfield armory selling off its states 2A rights?
Mine seems to shoot fine regardless of anybody's opinion on the company that made it
@DV8 *** - They've sure done more to betray the second amendment than anyone here too!
I mean if you feel this way you should sell all your Colt and Ruger firearms as well.. not saying it’s right but almost every company has done some shady shit at one point
@DV8 *** I haven’t heard an apology and to my knowledge they paid lobbyist to carve out a loophole to prevent the negative laws from effecting them and screw the gun owners. Simp all you want
@@canyoudigit9 hey. Kudos to being a responsible human being and taking your safety in your own hands. I’m sure they’re great guns and I’m sure you’re not advocating for disarming other quality gun owners. I just like to call out companies that mess with civil liberties. Getting rough. Can’t buy carhartt’s anymore. Holding them accountable is one way to prevent future transgressions
My Keltec P11 chuckles from the grave
Not sure I follow the thinking here. The Baseline firearms seem to be full size SIG and CZ guns. Why not other subcomponents like a P365 or Shield?
That was my thout as well. Maybe it was an error on the editing side?
was this there first time shooting it? if you dont shoot it more than once any gun will feel awkward
The Hellcat is the type of small pistol that the more you practice with it the more it grows on you…. The more you get better with it….. I’m a former owner of 2 p365’s and that pistol was just too small for my hands to operate the way I wanted…. The ergonomics fits me way better….I shot it and liked 👍…. The difference to me is that the Hellcat is built way more solid that the P365….. Hold in hand side by side and you can see and feel the difference…..I bet if both these guys spent extended time carrying and training with it then I bet the performance could get up to a 2.5 ish
It’s small for sure…..That’s why the training is beneficial…. I know this a good pistol if time is put into it…. For the size/capacity/ carry ability factor, I don’t think it gets much better than the Hellcat…. I heard people that have 15k+ thru this little thing and it’s still performing great.
Show us the random gun shop purchase of each firearm tested. Firearms lent or given by manufacturers can't be in the test or it will be invalid.
Many of the reviewers miss the purpose of this gun. People buy this gun for concealment and magazine capacity. You point and shoot within 20 yards. Nothing more or less!!
Tauros GX4 matches it at 11 rounds flush mag
The Hellcat is equipped with Meprolight Hyperbright sights and I was told that by Meprolight on TH-cam or they claimed to be Meprolight anyway. The rear is a SA design.
What can I say H.S. Products makes a solid gun
So do you not consider a Sig P365x model a micro compact cuz it is a 12 + 1 with a 3.1 inch barrel and is only 4.8 inches tall? So a hell cat still holds the most rounds???
an excellent review and a base point for the next model "the RDP" and so on, gotta subscribe now for these up coming reviews!
Been carrying a Hellcat while in the US as a backup to my HK USP it’s lighter and easier to conceal than a Glock 19 and also holds 15 rounds
Why can't they make the rear "U" sight glow in the dark also?
The U notch is pretty difficult to get used to. Definitely need to spend range time with this gun to get it down. For anyone looking to pick this gun up, I suggest looking into an optic.
If there ain't no beans, it's hot dog sauce!
With the 15 round mags - the mags are so tough that you will dent and slightly damage getting in your last couple 2 or 3 rounds. If i could post pics, I would. I have about 10 rounds with signifigant dents on them
They also have 15 round magazines plus 1 in the chamber if you like
Thank you for your updates
I have a Hellcat and for me work perfectly I also have 1911 Emisary and have the same sight and work super for me Springfield do a great job ok
What if ones feelings are justified by a manufacturer being anti 2A and then turning around and trying to market to the community?
Twelve bullets, twelve bullets, man alive,
How did I ever get along with five?
(most viewers may be too young to get the inference)
"These guns are made for deep conceal carry and for defense only! They are not meant to be range toys and be shot thousands of time at the range!"----->Some dude that I argue with one time on the internet years ago. Lol
The taurus gx4 flush fit mag is 11 extended 13 mag . I think it's better than the smellcat . It's only 319.00 I think the trigger is better
And it's only 350 to 400 for the optic ready
The only thing that I have a difference of shooting a gun and I took pictures of what guns I shoot is a shot a compact handgun better than I shot a subcompact why is that the grip felt better on a compact but tired of conceal😢
Thanks
Hellcat pro upper vs RDP upper, which shoots flatter?
They make a drum...... A 15 Rd.... A 3 Rd extension..... I have a powder river sear kit recoil reduction kit. Hyve Patriot trigger polish job laser and scope riser.... And a stock runner
You need to tittle this , all our feelings and no facts LOL
In your opening statement the video was supposed to be based on data , but nearly the entire review was based on your Subjective dislikes! So what is it? I have Hellcat and when I first got it I had my own issues, but the more I shot it I grew to love it. It is my primary EDC I'm very comfortable with.
did I miss what your target distances were?
Worse trigger than a Glock and MUCH harder to work on with fiddly tiny parts. Done Springfield. No thanks. If I am going to a non Glock, it would be the Sig 365.
Uuuuum.
Its a "micro"....pistol.
So things will be small and "fiddly".
And Glocks 43/43X has "fiddly" parts too in comparison to its bigger brothers.
For me the only two possible genuine mood killers on these things is the fact that they can only be had in 9mm.
Seeing how big the Smith and Wesson Shields AND the Glock 43/43X are?
Theres no reason that the "micro"/weight save/trim down, tech couldnt be applied to other calibers.
Owning Shields, Glock 43X, AND the Hellcat?
Ive still found myself seldom carrying any of them of late. Having gravitated back to my Glock 23, 30 SF, and 19X.
But.
Summer is coming.
So.....
Perhaps I'll wander back to them.
Springfield's website makes it seem as if the Hellcat will also accept the Pro mags for a 15+1 capacity.
It does…
The reviews of the Hellcat OSP in 2024 are a whole lot better than what you're giving. You need to reevaluate and update more factually.
$900 for a plastic POS. Engineering Department " We cut production cost down to about the cost of a box of lego's and not pass any of that saving on to the customer!".......Bean counter a decade later is there anyway to cut barrel cost down? Can we maybe go back to the days of the Remington Cast Barrels? Maybe we can design flat washers that are stamped and stacked in such a way as to produce a rifled barrel housed in a cheap tube or welded up?
Ugh. I just bought this guy... I had the option of this and the sig p320.... feel like I've made the wrong decision.
Maybe I need to just work with the gun a lot more than usually to get used to the recoil and the U site?
Dont listen to people on the internet, see for yourself if you like it or not
I think you're supposed to have Vista clearance before you can say "doobleydoo". Unfortunately, I know of only one with that clearance. Time for me to skidleydoo. As a Texan Chilli has no beans.. Thanks y'all.
Facts not feelings says the u notch didn’t make them happy. The irony.
The amount of grown men who are complaining about recoil, on a 9mm pistol is pathetic. You can always get a .22lr if the recoil is too much for your limp wrists.
Seriously 9mm is apparently too snappy now??? LOL, any man who complains about 9mm needs to grow a pair, its pathetic.
The graphics at 7:05 says you base-lined against the Sig P320? That is not a micro-compact. Of course the full-size handgun shoots better. I don't understand how that comparison is useful.
@@Valorius But hey didn't rank this against the Sig P320, rather they simply said its not as good. AFAIK all micro-compacts are not as good as a full-size pistol such as the P320.
If comparing aircraft, a Cessna 150 would not be as good as a Leerjet 60, which is not as good as a 747. But if I'm only in the market for single engine prop planes, knowing that it is not as good as a private or commercial jet is not really helpful information.
If i'm in the market for a micro-compact handgun, knowing how one compares against a full--size is not very helpful.
@@Valorius Those were ranked against all other vehicles they had tracked before, and placed them on a leaderboard. As far as I can tell, that is not the case here.
Hellcat is not as good as a Sig P320. OK. That's it? I'm not sure that ever needed to be said to begin with, it is kind of a truthism already. But how does the Hellcat compare to other firearms within its class? If I'm looking at the Hellcat, I'm probably interested in micro-compacts generally. I would be curious how it compares to other micro-compacts like the P365, Shield Plus, Mako, &c... and not so much how it compares to a full-size firearm such as the P320, 92FS, 75, &c...
The pro comes with 15 round and you can get a 17 round magazine
LOL... fella's, l lived in Waco for two years back in the 1960s. It seemed that everyone put beans in their Chili!...
.
Chili without beans is just meat soup!
So I’m considering buying a hellcat . Any real honest complaints from anyone about the reality of this gun ? I have a g18c and I don’t like to edc it much and really want an affordable high capacity ( not that I need more than a double tap) highly experienced with firearms .. looking for non biased really opinions here please and thank you 😊
Have the hell cat and love it. I tried both the Hellcat and Sig p365. Both guns are really good guns but the Hellcat fit my hand just a bit better. Shot both at a range and did better than the Hellcat. I have shot over 1000 rounds so far with the hellcat and no issues.
I have the hellcat and the pro version. I enjoy both and use both for different types of dress.
Also I give a CZ shadow 2 as a carry pistol a 0 as its too damn big to fit in my pocket....that is a fact and its so damn big i wouldn't carry it ..fact
Is a S&W Shield Plus not considered a “micro compact”? It has the exact same capacity(10+1 for flush fit/13+1 for the only mags I use) yet y’all said the Springfield has the highest capacity out of ALL the other micro compacts on the market.
And it costs substantial less And it has a great trigger right out of the box And it's not snappy at all. Just not sure they would consider it a micro.
I think maybe it's a regular compact?
@@stevenjohnson1692 s&w makes regular compacts. The shield is a lot smaller. The 365 is a little smaller than a shield but not sure where the hellcat fits in there.
Pretty sure 11 is greater than 10
This is great; keep it up.
your title is facts not feelings and 8:51 you chime in with feelings, 🤣
They also make a 15 round magazine
Snappy?! Laughs in LCR .357
I gotta 15 rd mag in mine now.
Well it may be a great pistol just not for me as I will never own anything Springfield!!!
I’m no expert, but I think you could shoot lighter ammo and get less recoil. Use an optic please.
I'm still not able to forgive Springfield for the crap they pulled in Illinois
This handgun is produced by a Croatian company called Hs Produkt, SA is just the US importer and remarkets it here
Is it the bore axis that is adding to felt recoil? My XDM sticks up noticeably higher above my thumb webbing than my other pistols do.
While overall weight compares to others, maybe compare just the slide weights?
As a Texan I'll eagerly eat chili with or without beans. Best don't get between me and that pot!
The bore axis isn't high at all and even lower than a s&w shield. But the felt recoil is stiff for a 9mm. Shooting a s&w shield is much more comfortable than a hellcat.
I feel the need to say GLOCK just to irritate the internet.
It’s my wife’s carry so my opinion isn’t very important. The more I shoot it the like it.
Reminds me of all the G28 fanbois talking ish about how micro 9s are unnecessary.
Wait…. Where the hell is THE GUY?!?! 😡😡
Andrew?
I did they fix the trigger? Just a little side pressure and the trigger safety locks against the frame.
Nothing was wrong with the trigger. If the SHOOTER side loaded the trigger all the way back without depressing the trigger safety it will lock you out. Who side loads a trigger safety then complains the trigger is bad?
@@RadDadisRad I agree, I never had an issue with the trigger and nobody should if they are shooting it properly. I can definitely induce the "issue" when I'm trying to, but my finger is always where it should be if I get a proper grip.
Good luck. You lose fine motor control in high stress situations. When I pull my trigger with a side load it goes bang
@@azdesertrat6493 yeah the new mod2 trigger doesn't have the issue. I'm probably gonna get one as a back up now that the trigger can't lock up.
Believe it or not, every rear sight is a u notch
have hellcat for over year l love it for a micro u notch i like alot but that me
It's too snappy 👎I think that's why they came out with the Pro🤷
The iron sights are the worst in the hellcats.
So you took a completely brand new firearm right out of the box, without any shooting familiarity of the sights or the mechanics, you make a 'judgement' compared with other firearms you have shot more frequently.
There are NO beans in chili - no such thing - it does not exist
I love mag guts +2 flat spring for my p365 xl. However, I'm not sure why they don't get more exposure on gun channels.
How reliable are these? Not sure I’d want to compromise oem reliability for 2 extra rounds.. just saying
Compare this to a shadow 2 baseline? sorry this is pretty dumb
* This weapons system is designed for use up close and personal...not having any combat time to use sights. Quit your crying
im hearing alot more feelings then facts lol
Would like to get rid of the U notch rear sight on mine. Has anyone found a rear sight that is a suitable substitute or should I just replace both front and rear and be done with it?
My wife had one, kept pinching her pinky between the frame and the 13 rnd magazine base plate. She switched to 43X and fell in love.
Definitely felt the pinch on the 13's
If I found one that didn’t have any side-loading trigger issue, I would probably rent it at a range before I purchased it.
Springfield armory. FAIL.
Thing shoots like a howitzer. No thanks
I would never train around such a terrible trigger, I would replace it with a better one. That's one of the main things I look for in a pistol, those sights are pretty bad too.
Real chili has no beans
@@Valorius agreed, that's why I don't have any factory Glock triggers on my Glocks. That's not what I'm looking for in a ccw trigger. To each their own though.
@@Valorius yeah it's all personal preference.
