WagakkiBand have an incredible mix of traditional instruments layered with metal guitars and drums, topped with some amazing vocals! The whole mixture makes for a particular brand of funky metal that is very distinct and really easy to get into! I highly recommend checking out WagakkiBand and their awesome brand of metal! Wagakki = Japanese musical instrument. Wa is an old word for Japan and gakki means musical instrument

I approve your impression that it needs several listens to fully unveil it.
Definately check out their live performances, as they have an awesome stage presence. (maybe dodge the Covid-era ; - )
In their livesets are allso all sorts of piecec with varying constellations of the band (i.e. onl parts of the band), which is nice for variation and a clever way to allow for resting.
The live in a rabbit hole well worth exploring, for sure!
