"I need to lose some weight before I go to the gym." That has to be the funniest thing I have ever heard. And as hilarious as this video is, it is very, very true.
@@samsquanch1996 Thankfully, yes. But I've been stuck in my house for a year due to some of my families health issues and I've forgotten what society is like lol
iloveyoshi0xo I'm trying to lose weight, so I only had steak and potatoes. The steak was the size of 5 decks of cards and the mashed potato servings were the size of a grapefruit. But I don't eat a lot!
I was shown this video in nutrition class years ago. That's how true this video is. Yes, the built environment contributes to obesity. But some of it really is personal responsibility.
She’s a client with a set way and the dietician isn’t good on this client. She’s correct he didn’t do a good consulting job. It’s his job to be her dietician he’s getting paid to handle that challenge and though he is factually right in everything he’s saying, he’s not motivating her in his approach. If you tell an alcoholic to stop drinking it isn’t a good formula eventhough it’s right advice. He could have 1) offer that for 3 days she do everything as before except choose 1 thing to go down on and that after 3-day trial it can be over and/or after 3 days a new plan to discuss and it may be no continuation at all of this one 2) He could have had her walk with him outside while consulting with her so inadvertently she’s burning calories, all while having the discussion, then rewarded her for walking x miles with a big confidence builder. 3) He could have made it fun by having her meet his other clients and have them partner up on choose one thing to go down on Motivation is all in the getting started. Another idea would be introducing new home made paleo foods that are yummy tasty and low in preservatives and add those in place of dropping the extra coffee or beans
If you suddenly start consuming more veggies and fiber, it is possible that you might start having more frequent bowel movements that tend to stink a lot more (even temporary diarrhea). But under these circumstances, it's actually good because toxic material is being removed from the intestinal wall. Getting that gunk off your intestines is very beneficial health wise.
This is really great, it is truly a complication of all the people I have been seeing for over 30 years, especially the last 15 years. It shows how little people understand about food and nutrition. Maryann Meade,RD,CD-N,CDE
Well done. Hard to argue with this. I always feel sorry for heavy people. (I am not heavy for the record). We all have poor behaviours, addictions (tv, credit cards, gambling, whatever). The poor heavy people just can't hide theirs. You know in one second upon seeing them. Video was very good. Hopefully it motivates others to eat better... Thanks.
I hate when my friend goes to a health shop to talk to their "nutritionist" to help them lose weight. I suggest they see a doctor and have blood work done and a basic physical or even see a dieticien. ope that nutrionist at a small health shop with no medical degree or even a college learning of any sort.
If she wants to lose weight, a HUGE start would be to cut off the 3 or 4 damn lattes with whipped cream she guzzles down every morning. That's anywhere from 1200-1700 calories
He told her to cut back to one per day because he knew she couldn't go cold turkey on them altogether. He was suggesting small changes so that the weight would come off slowly and stay off.
Amelia Allen She could drink regular coffee with cream and sugar (both in moderation, of course), as opposed to lattes, and still have the caffeine to get through the day. Hell, she could even drink 2 cups of that.
If it's caffeine she can't do without, she could switch to diet soda. Not the healthiest choice, but it doesn't drive up your blood sugar and it's low calorie.
Eat less move more...OMG it's so simple. I laughed so hard on the "pen in the eye" part I bout fell out of my chair! Couldn't bare the thought of dropping my bowl of watermelon! Ya know that stuff food eats...that's OK I'll take yours, crisp, cold & delicious...low calories
@atrider84 Because most people add 500+ calories to their coffee in the form of whipped cream and sugar and caramel toppings, and that when the body consumes liquid calories, it ignores them.
Dang, I thought I was bad having coffee with coffeemate (12 oz), and a small bag of chips every day. However, I understand her feeling about wanting to lose weight before going to the gym. I just had a horrible class - being the heaviest person in the class made me feel like a whale, and I wound up leaving early.
This was spot-on, what a typical pt: denial, resistance, misinformed, impatient, unrealistic... Too bad the RD was unable to roll with the punches a little better and play devil's advocate. That said, I must say I thought it was funny to see how it ended.
Ok, I agree skim milk does taste like off water... but it is very healthy. If you just have a drop in tea or coffee or even if you add a spoonful of milo or something, that is still healthier. Unfortunately, not everything healthy always tastes wonderful!
Could have made it funnier with a few "fat stupid bitch" or "are you shitting me?" comments like some of the other videos have. But the conversation he has with her is the same as I have had with some fat people, mostly female. Everything you suggest is just out of the question, but they want to magically lose the weight anyway. The salad part reminds me of when I ran a steakhouse years ago, we had a big salad bar, and these enormous women (and a few men) would come in and sort of tersely say "all I want is a salad bar and water.". Then they would proceed to fill their salad plate with only a little lettuce and veg, but huge quantities of grated cheese, pepperoni, cubed ham, real bacon bits, and probably a FULL CUP of blue cheese dressing! I used to watch that and say to myself: "I bet she goes to her doctor and says: I only have a salad for lunch each day."
That wouldn't have made it funnier at all. It would have been stupid and juvenile. This is *exactly* how an exchange like this goes when you're working with people and that's why it's so funny.
Exactly, that's why I ask patients exactly what they eat, including toppings, dressings, etc.! Btw, Whole Food Plant Based Nutrition works wonders for not just weight loss but overall health/disease prevention!
Very good representation of what the hard workung dietitians deal with every day. I have heard story after story like this, in addition to patients saying this to me. It is sad the general patient population can be summed up in a short video.
Only disagreement I have here is over the skim milk. The lack of fat makes it less satiating and therefore you're prone to drink more of it until you're satisfied, thus you overall drink more calories.
+Aaron Oliver But that is what addiction means. The hand seems to pick up the second glass by itself. The longer it goes on the worse the damage to the brain.
She doesn't keep track of what she eats. She eats all the wrong high calorie stuff. I would just eat once or twice a day if I didn't have access to healthy food. Oh well it's a Neurotic Balancing act,Dieting.
I know people like that. They really don't want to lose weight. I lost sixty pounds three years ago and have kept it off. And I'll tell you that people who say they want to lose weight and don't make the changes needed to lose weight, are lying to themselves. When the decide they really want to lose weight, they will find a way.
"I need to lose some weight before I go to the gym." That has to be the funniest thing I have ever heard. And as hilarious as this video is, it is very, very true.
Yeah, her logic is flawless. -_-
This is probably the most accurate and awesome video on the internet.
“I didn’t eat very much yesterday. Now let me explain how I ate everything in sight yesterday.”
This is still hilarious 10 years later.
11 years as well. This is what's getting me through the pandemic 😂
@@rainyinalltheclouds I feel like the worst of the pandemic is over by now.

One of my certified TH-cam classics
"We are trying to lose weight so it wasn't that much, we only had steak and potatoes."
Hahahahahahaha!!!!!
I'm addicted to these videos
"Someone also brought in gummy bears but they were fat free" haha
Didn't think Goldman Sachs would bring me into this old rabbit hole.
"I don't eat very much" Eats everything in sight. lolwut

My health teacher showed my class this and I can't stop watching it now. It's so funny.
Hysterical!!
This pretty much sums up everything I've heard in 17 years of Health & Fitness.
This is one of the only of these videos where the worker keeps their cool instead of going nuts on them and cussing them out
This is the hard thing about working with people. I work in leadership development and there's a great deal of stupidity also.
"She lost the weight, but then she gained it back because her kidneys failed and she had to go on dialysis" LOL!!
I was shown this video in nutrition class years ago. That's how true this video is. Yes, the built environment contributes to obesity. But some of it really is personal responsibility.
2:24 So basically she had some tacos instead of a salad. XD
Tacos with just beans, meat, and sour cream lmfao.
"Food eats vegetables"
Reminds me of Ron Swanson LOL XD
I lost it at it was bageled size hahaha

He could have
1) offer that for 3 days she do everything as before except choose 1 thing to go down on and that after 3-day trial it can be over and/or after 3 days a new plan to discuss and it may be no continuation at all of this one
2) He could have had her walk with him outside while consulting with her so inadvertently she’s burning calories, all while having the discussion, then rewarded her for walking x miles with a big confidence builder.
3) He could have made it fun by having her meet his other clients and have them partner up on choose one thing to go down on
Motivation is all in the getting started.

"I don't like vegetables!" But she eats potatoes.
Potatoes are tubers, and classed as a starch rather than a vegetable. 😊 They do not count as one of your 5 a day. :)
