I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Robert at the Lucy Birthday Festival weekend Jamestown NY. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra day. So very pleasant, and so very down to earth. Never rushed through the meet and greet. He even gave me a kiss on the cheek. In his words " you waited patiently in line---you deserve a kiss". 😊😊😊 Miss him😭😭😭😭😭😭😭but I am so greatful to have met and had the opportunity to talk with him..👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

lucy obsessively shaped and drew her eyebrows. if you find pictures of her in her 20s with natural eyebrows, she looked much better. but that was the style back then. like lana turner's pencil thin eyebrows

This so interesting!! Normally when I see “old school” Hollywood stars, they looked so much older than their actual age. Lucy looks so young and fresh for 40!

Yes. Lucy never looked better! Wonderful show they gave us!👏The wear and tear took its toll, however. After 180 episodes and a rocky marriage, by the end of the decade Lucy and Desi looked older than their years.💛
@@ramongonzalez2112 Actually Desi looked to be in his 60's when Lucy remarried Gary Morton - she looked great. After a few years when Desi remarried Edith, he began to look better too. The worst he ever looked was after Lucy got remarried. Almost like he could not believe it - and could not endure it. His daughter said he was devastated.
No question about it! Lucy & Desi were absolutely in love with one another. You can see it in this hair/makeup video - their chemistry is overwhelming! It must have been a very exciting time for them with a new show, a new baby, and the opportunity to finally work together! Glad to see this film…..I didn’t know it existed. Thank you!!

I just watched Lucie Arnaz talking about the last time Lucy and Desi reminisced and watched old Lucy episodes together when Desi was on the verge of passing away in 1986 but now it is wonderful seeing them as a younger couple deeply in love not knowing how successful their venture would be. Lucy actually thought the show would last maybe one year. HA!!

He was a friend of Lucille Ball. There’s a great podcast that TCM put out about her and Desi’s life together . It’s great 👍🏻
Btw Robert Osborne was in Lucille Ball's theatre group and it was she that recommended he go into the field that he went into rather than acting. She felt he was particularly gifted in this - and was she correct. Lovely to think that Lucy tried to help young people getting into show business as Lela Rogers (Ginger Roger's mother ) had helped her.

Honestly, I loved the repeated clothes. Seemed more realistic, especially on Ethel. It's a pet peeve of mine when t.v. shows have the stars wear an outfit only once.
Yes, I loved how many times I saw particular outfits on Lucy - felt more realistic.

Yes! I miss Robert Osborne too! Such knowledge about films, stars, behind the scene anecdotes, etc! Lucy & Desi were an amazing couple! They both loved and respected each other’s skill, talent and how they their energy between them was so wonderful! He really broke her heart, she wouldn’t have divorced him if he could’ve toned down his partying ways. Some people aren’t meant for marriage, but I know he loved her immensely! Lucy was a very hardworking person and a think pretty tough at times. Anyway we’re all grateful for them and the whole show! I always watch it when I’m flipping channels.🤩😍🌈

I remember my Mom and Dad having a big argument over watching I Love Lucy or Gunsmoke (I think). Must have been the only time my Dad won. No problem for my Mom, since everyone watched it she just went to a neighbors house and joined them. My favorite show was the Vitameatavegetarian commercial.🤣

How wonderful to see. This is the first time I've seen this footage.
Lucy helped define the 1950s and 1960s. Hollywood hadnt seen a Lucille (an actress who owned and managed a studio) since Mary Pickford in the era of Silent Movies. People always say Lucille was sweet and loving but tough, controlling, a taskmaster. Let me tell you that if you knew someone who lived thru the 1930s depression, someone who knew death and poverty and hunger then there were Lucille's all over the country. Lucille was much more identifiable than we think of today. There were actresses and TV shows I liked better but as I get older...I grow to appreciate her and Desi so much more.
The first pictures of her in the nightgown are wonderful. She looked so beautiful and natural.

I just found out about the age difference a couple days ago. What does it for me is that Lucy really, truly, loved Desi. You can tell by the fact she didn't want her name before his in the title! Not many actors nowadays

We miss you Robert Osborne. They have four people over on TCM that have no clue. A young woman from Australia who talks about movies from the 40s and 50s. What a joke. They have this other bore with film noir. Soooooo boring, They try to keep racism going with movies that show black people at a time when racism in films took place. But there are soooooo many movies that show black people as just people in a positive and wonderful way. Haven’t seen those yet. You had a wonderful way of speaking to and about people in the movies that was riveting. We miss you Mr. Osborne RIP.

This was delightful to watch! Their love and chemistry is so obvious! Despite the problems they had in their marriage I think that both of those qualities remained between them throughout their lives.

This was nice. After watching the movie it's nice to see them young and idealistic.
I just watched “Being the Ricardo’s” and was horrified by Nicole Kidman’s performance. Lucy was known for her wildly expressive face and Kidman’s face was a frozen mask, incapable of movement. I heard she was chosen primarily because they thought her name would bring in $, but that strategy backfired.
I disagree. I watched being the Ricardos, and I thought well, she didn’t look like Lucy she was dead on in her portrayal and expressions of Lucy Ricardo. But to each his or her own.
It's fascinating how much different they look as themselves and not in character.
