I'm Australian my husband's American. We met online on a Bible study. We knew with in two weeks of talking we were soul mates and became engaged. We debated on the bible study then when we went into a separate chat room to work our differences out he had me in stitches of laughter. We were in different timezones so I had to go to bed but didn't want to stop talking so we stayed up all night and continued to talk every day after, between work and daily schedule. I came to visit him in the USA and we married with in 4 mths of meeting online. We have now been happily married for 7 years. I moved to the USA to be with him but the Visa took 12mths so we spent the first year of marriage separated because they wouldn't let me back in the country while the visa was processing.

We went out for a meal and neither of us could stop smiling at one another. We hit it off straightaway and ten days later when it was time for him to fly home we were both in floods of tears because we didn't want to leave the other one. A few visits back and forth over the next few years and then I moved to England and we now have two gorgeous children. He was the best decision I ever made! 😍

I love stories of how people find each other! I visited England to do study abroad. Then after it was over, I was drawn to it again, and I studied full time. My boyfriend found me within a month of me being back in England. I got tied up in a night out at a club, and he came up to talk to me. He talked to me, bought me a drink, and asked me out right there, and I was so terrified because I've been hurt in the past. The next day I fell down the stairs and my knee got a blue and purple bruise, so I cancelled our first date. Then about 3 weeks later, I decided if he was still willing to go out with me, then he must not have bad intentions. So I initiated the next conversation, saying "would you still want to go out" and I was still nervous! I had my British friends give me advice because I didn't know how to talk to him, because of cultural differences. But same as you guys, it became clear that we instantly had a lot of easy conversation. Two years strong, and we live together now! He is my person. When we have the opportunity we want to go to the US and have him meet my family.
I loved to hear about your first date and how Sarah's family were wondering what's going on with Sarah she's not usually that affectionate or into PDA but how with Carlo things were different. Very sweet.
On my first date with my husband he picked me up late, wearing a HIDEOUS shirt, spent the first 15 minutes talking about his boring car and then stopped to get gas (hello, unprepared much?!) and I was like wow what an incredible waste of my time, but I decided to be nice so it wouldn’t be an awkward couple hours. We went to a paint night and barely talked because we were nervous and concentrating on our paintings. We leave and walk to his car and I think well at least I get a painting out of this disaster date 😂 He opens his trunk to put our paintings in to dry and takes out a picnic he made and surprised me with for after painting. We walked to a waterfront and had a picnic and talked for hours and took a walk along the water and then he drove me home and I was like oh snap- I’m going to marry this man!! So that’s both my worst and best first date ever.

My fiancé and I met at our orientation at Boston University! For our first date we decided to go to the North End for dinner at a fancy Italian place and then get cannoli at mike’s. It was a beautiful night so we ended up walking the three miles there, talking the whole time. We had so much fun talking and enjoying the evening that we walked there, walked around, splashed in a fountain, and then walked back and were about halfway back to BU before we realized we hadn’t even eaten anything. We ended up getting curly fries at the Late Night Kitchen at our dorm and talking until 2am. So fancy Italian dinner turned to curly fries and 8 miles of walking and I wouldn’t have it any other way🤷🏻♀️☺️ getting married in Ipswich this July!

I went on a first date with a guy, and he gradually got more and more drunk and wouldn’t stop insulting me, saying how I was punching above my weight with him and he could do much better, so I told him to F off, and he tried apologising over text when I was on my way home and wanted another chance. Suffice to say that he didn’t get another chance.
I went on a date with a guy I’d known since 5th grade. We were seniors in high school at the time. He’d been hinging me a ride home from school for a few weeks but I thought nothing of it. I had recently broke up with a guy and I wasn’t interested in dating yet. During this time I was in a car wreck and my nose was badly broken. He came to the hospital to see me and my parents were in the room. They decided to go get something to eat and left him there with me. I started getting very sick from the pain meds and he ended up taking care of me. After I had recuperated he asked me out and I reluctantly said yes. He took me to the circus and had gotten seats in the front row. When the elephants paraded in they all seemed to need to poop in front of us. The smell was atrocious! I was miserable because I was thinking of the other guy the whole time. Afterwards we went for pizza and while we were in the restaurant I saw the old boyfriend drive by and I just wanted to cry. He drove me home and walked me to the door.I couldn’t wait to get inside but he reached down and kissed me. It was a great kiss! We ended up dating and getting married after our junior year of college. He told me later that he wasn’t going to ask me out again but that kiss changed his mind too!
Omg my sister and brother-in-law are married now 35 years same story my grandparents and his grandparents had a house on an island I knew my brother-in-law since I was six months old my sister and him first love first kiss at 13 obviously went their separate ways until 18 started dating again then they got engaged at 19 my sister left Canada and went to live in Greece and now she’s married and lives there 35 years our families knew each other for over 60 years
