  • Welcome back divers!
    Today we will be looking Into one of my favorite mask, the Apeks VX1, definitely one of the best dive mask in the market!
    Since I tried for the first time the Apeks VX1 Mask, I never went back to my older dive mask.
    This is definitely my favorite, and after using it for almost a year, with quite a few dives on it, I decided to buy a new one to bring as a spare.
    If you are thinking on buying a new mask, or you are undecided on which one to buy to replace your old one, look no further, go to your local dive shop and ask if they have this model. Once you try it, you ill never want to go back to your old mask!
    Disclaimer - This video is not sponsored by Apeks by any means, I bought this dive gear with my own money, and I am giving my honest opinion on this review.
    If you have any questions regarding this dive mask, please leave a comment on the section down below and I will do my best to clear your doubts!
    Hope you guys enjoy this video, if so make sure to leave a Like, Comment, and of course, Subscribe if you haven't yet!

    My fav: Gull Coco, the full black one. Very petite and low key shape. And I love single lens masks! This Apeks one you're reviewing looks really good too!

      I use the cressi Corsica, it’s the one I use for free diving as well, it pairs really good with the Vx1 🤗

      Hi Affif thanks for the comment, I have never tried to burn a UV glass before so I can not answer your question sorry. But you will be better off trying to rub with toothpaste first as this usually works really good as well!

    Would you go with the pure clear lens, or the UV lens? I reef dive and snorkel mainly/.

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Prometheus, I use pure clear as the UV lens is not great when using a camera, mainly because the UV lens corrects colors and so I wouldn’t actually see the real colors of what I am filming.
      That being said, if you don’t use a camera and mainly reef dive or snorkel then go for it, I’m sure it’ll go perfect for those conditions.
      Cheers

    Does the mask seals firm on the temples? You have a quite similar headshape like me i guess.
    I have a big longshaped head, a little bit narrower on the temples and always water come in there, also at the mustache like yours.
    So im lokking for a big, but narrower mask, which seals excellent.
    Have you also tried the Hollis M1, Oceanic Shodow or Halcyon H-view?
    Thx in advance!

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Thanks for the comment!
      The mask seals perfectly for me, I has a Hollis M-1 for quite a while but most of the times it will have some leaks, never tried the Shadow but it seems more suitable for smaller faces, and the Haclyon looks really good as well and it has a very similar build to the VX1 so I’m guessing it works as good as the Apeks.
      For me this mask is the best one I’ve used so far, no leaks, no nose pain and it doesn’t get foggy. Very happy with it.
      Hope this helps 🤗👌🏼

    How do you prep the UV version? Normally I use toothpaste or burn the inside, but I don’t want to mess up the UV tint

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi I would just do a toothpaste treatment, as burning the inside and making the lens too hot can be an issue while treating tinted lenses.
      I don’t use this kind of lenses myself but I know that toothpaste makes the trick as well 😉

    Hey, thank you for the review. I bought myself one, and it is amazing. The only thing i am wondering, is how to install the neoprene band, could you maybe explain?

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi happy to hear that you are enjoying this Mask as well 🙌🏼
      To install the neoprene band, is the same procedure as with the silicon ones, so basically remove the existing one and see where the actual band goes in through, and just feed in the neoprene one afterwards. The piece on the side of the mask that has a small apeks logo, if you press it you will see that it opens up a bit, this is to help change the band.
      With the neoprene one you can not adjust its length as easy as with the silicon one, meaning that you need to pre adjust with the Velcro inside and try it on, if to loose or too tight remove and adjust where necessary.
      Hope this helps! 🙌🏼

    I can’t choose between Mares X-Vision Ultra LS; Scubapro Synegry Twin; Scubapro spectra and Apeks VX1 (I’m a beginner scuba diver..)
    What would you recommend?
    Greets from Belgium

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alexandr,
      I recommend you the VX1 as is the one I still use every day, Scubapro ones are good but didn’t really fit my face so i can’t say if they are good or no, other divers seems happy with them.
      And Mares, well the only thing I like from mares are their fins 😅
      Hope you find the right mask for you, if you can go to a store and try them there first before purchasing, just to make sure it fits properly on your face.
      Thanks for the comment!

    What technique do you use when preparing the mask after purchase? Do you burn, use toothpaste, soap, etc...?

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Anthony, thanks for the comment.
      I usually burn it a bit, then clean it with soap. But I will only advise this if you have done it before and know the process, as if you do it incorrectly you can permanently damage the mask.
      Tooth paste also works good, apply and rub it for a few minutes and then clean off. You can do this before every dive to avoid the mask getting foggy.
      Hope this helps 🤗

    • @anthonyquinones6712
      @anthonyquinones6712 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PoseidonsAdventure awesome thank you! I actually burned mine but how do I know when it is enough? Also, after I burned I used toothpaste multiple times. But still during my dive today, it fogged up. :(

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just burn it a bit, don’t over do it (glass going black) because you can damage the glass.
      Ok try with the toothpaste again, apply and rub for like 2/3 minutes then clean it off. And before you jump into the dive try with spit next time, sounds rough but this works very well also 😅, it’s what I do always, spit on and spread along the glass, clean off before putting the mask on and should be good.
      Let me know if it gets foggy again so I can give you another way to try to fix the problem 🤗

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, at least you are very easy to recognize and to find! depending on where you dive, which I'm guessing is cold waters, it has its beneficial part to have orange colors, especially for those murky greenish waters where visibility is not always the best.
      I hope that at the very least you are enjoying this fabulous mask!

    I guess this is the non-uv version. Any thoughts on the UV version?

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Christian, thanks for stopping by.
      I haven’t tried the UV version as it modifies the colors you see underwater, which is good if you don’t use a camera but it becomes a bit of an issue when using one, because there colors you see are very different than the ones you get with the camera, I hope this makes sense 😅
      But if you don’t use a camera, or don’t film underwater, then it’s quite a good option actually.
      Either way the mask is really good, I just bought an extra one 😅
