- This episode . I will be demonstrating how to bleed brake system on this Mazda CX 5. One man job version.
Tips :
Always keep the clear tubing submerge into the old brake fluid container to prevent air going back in to the brake system. Do not pump the pedal all the way . Pump the brake pedal slowly.
Tools & equipment :
Brake fluid (DOT 4)
Flare nut wrench (10mm)
Clear tubing 3mm (I.D) , 5mm (O.D)
Container to catch old fluid
Please do it at your own risk. I will not held any responsibilities if any damage occurs whilst doing this service .Please work with gloves on as brake fluid are corrosive. Please wash off any spillage immediately.

That plastic pipe line should be held a little bit higher over the bleeding valve because air always travel upstream.

I’m going to do a brake job on my daughters 2014 CX5. Her fill cap suggests DOT3. I see you used DOT4...mechanics preference since both brake fluids can coexist. Great video!

dot 4 does last longer n better performance.

@@chadwickwood9843 just need to read the bottle to make sure it’s compatible with DOT 3. In the old days… you couldn’t mix the 2 because Dot 4 contained silicone and Dot 3 did not
My local independent told me pressure bleeding was necessary on my Touring with the electronic brake

Thank you . Everything works great no issues what soever . If you got air in the master cylinder perhaps repeat the process until there's no more air in the brake system .

How level of surface does car need to be on? If I jack up one side at a time and put on stand will that affect the level substantially? How do you dispose of old fluid? Thank you n
You could do one side at the time just make sure your brake fluid reservoir is on minimum to maximum line (if its just under minimum line) it is also okay whilst doing this procedure. Just make sure once you have finished place the car down and dont forget to top it up as needed till reach maximum line. Old fluid can be disposed at your local mechanic area i think they accept it for free or some fee depends where your area is. Cheers.
Why not leave the blue filter when pouring in the new fluid? It's designed to catch potential contaminants right?
Right lol it would have just been a slower pour smh but it’s clean brake fluid but you never know that’s why they probably installed that filter 😅

Nope this version is still mechanical (manual hand pull ) park brake .

The rear one i use ID hose approx 0.5 cm. The front ones i use ID hose approx 0.7 cm. hope this helps. You could also secure it with zip tie if its slightly loose.

Why did you tighten bleeder valve a second time then loosen to bleed more fluid? Thanks
shane walsh on the first sets, i had pump the brake pedal 5 times and locked it and refill the fluid then reopen the bleeder valve. Then do another 5 more pump to complete the brake flush procedures. So total of 10 brake pedal pumps. It was enough to let the old fluid out of the systems.

I’ve noticed rattling on acceleration by letting off the gas and then accelerating on my 2018 Mazda 3 is the anything that could be causing it they replaced the tensioner pulley so I don’t know what could be causing it
maybe double check on the mechanic work one more time if everything is tighten to manufacture specs. The engine should not rattle in any sort.
Hi, how do you remove the brake fluid reservoir screen at 1:45? I cannot figure it out on my car, those 4 snap taps are annoying, cannot pull it out with just 2 fingers like in your video.

Ya 2013. Just have not use the car much. That y they r shiny.
Are you closing the brake fluid reservoir after filling it with the new brake fluid, or loosing it opened?
Nope lid stay open . Close it after finish the service and fluid topped up.

nope i havent recall any problems. But if you like to do that while doing the service maybe give it a go :)
Do the wheels really need to be removed? Can a guy just drive up on ramps and maneuver behind with the wheels on?
dont have to remove the wheels if you can access it from the back of the wheels. But u need to get the car up on a ramps to do this.
What about ABS module, do not need the diagnosis to opne the valves of the ABS module?.
Nope dont need. If you like to do the ABS module you will need to hook up MSDS OBD2 to have control.

if yours are manual then yes bleed the clutch.

It will depends on how many times you let the fluid out from bleeding the brakes, Usually if its clear brownish color, you only need 1 full bottle. about 350ml to 400ml to get it clear fluid again. if its dark may use abit more than 400ml .. Hope it helps. Thank you for your support. ✌️

this one only for bleed the brake calipers not the abs module.

There is an item with a spring in it near the end of your bleeder tube. Is that a one-way valve? I didn't see that you mentioned it. Also, I understand closing and opening the bleeder valve between pumps when someone else is pumping the brake pedal. It prevents old fluid from backing into the caliper when the pedal is released. But you are pumping the pedal multiple times without closing/opening the bleeder valve. Why are you doing it after multiple pumps in your method? There is no explanation given, and I can't figure out how it would help anything with your method. It may be important. It just isn't clear.
If you are doing it yourself you have to pump the pedal multiple times until fresh fluid comes out and making sure that all the air is out of the system. That's why the tube is submerged in fluid so that air does not come back into the system once he releases the brake pedal.

How many liters do I need?
get 2 bottle . just incase you need to top up. 1 bottle is enough but depends on the quality of the old fluid. if its dirty do a good full 1 bottle flush n then top up.

they are 5mm (Outer Diameter) , 3mm (Inner Diameter)

Dot 4 will cause leaks in the future ! Other Japanese makers don’t recommend dot 4 as they had trouble with it!
Red Falcon have run dot 4 for my other japanese cars for years . It have never cause an issue such as leaks . I think it should be okay.

I have a Mazda cx3 which I bought in 2015. The owners manual recommend DOT 3 fluid. I would suggest that most Mazda's would have the same including the cx5. DOT 4 has a higher boiling point than DOT 3. Check out the owners manual before you bleed your brakes.

I thought the Mazda had a diagonal brake system , which means RR/ FL and RL/FR should be bleed together.
The correct way is always begins from the furthest from the master cylinder.
@@FelixDanGarasiAuto But if I put the car on jackstands and open for example the RR bleeder and the other person is pressing the brakes pedal, you can rotate the RR and FL but the LR and FR you can't move , which means it's a diagonal system, right?
In this case it would be also better to bleed them in this order or not ?
@@felixdada4416 correct. The RR side will be able to rotate. Other wheel wont be able to.

Nope i did not do the clutch as i have an auto .
