I tried to like this game, but it is brutal!! The Japanese version is more fair, but the language barrier don't permit me to understand the plot. Thanks to play it for us! :)
@@TheTenthArt It's the same plot, but you don't get a zapper version as far as I know. You also get three endings: the normal one, one where you talk jive and pretty much assault Annabelle, and one where you can move around the screen when she aomes out and she soon gets tired of it and breaks up with you.
Konami REALLY didn't want you winning this in one sitting. Fun fact, ALL of the human bosses, not just the last three, have names - all of 'em are in the manual. I don't know if they're different in the Japanese version, but in the one YOU'RE playing, Beard Man is Luis Tor-Ture and the Bad Dudes are Schwartz N. Eiger (gun guy) and Lightning Rod (knife guy). Even the helicopter boss seems to be known as "The Whirlybird", as the drawing in the manual looks EXACTLY like what you fight in the game. (Fun fact 2: the manual's drawings are actually at least reasonably accurate to how most of the enemies look in-game, with the exception of Rocky and Rocco, who aren't even close. I assume there's a 50/50 this was done on purpose to throw the player off once they finally made it that far (the other half of that 50/50 is "they never came CLOSE to those two", which is equally believable).)
"Billy, don't worry, your lovely Annabelle is safe with me." Says Gordon laughing, as Annabelle is hanging by her wrists half naked. Ooooooh, that must've pissed off so many players!
"Increased difficulty" No kidding. Games like these are why the term "Nintendo Hard" is a thing. Absolutely brutal difficulty. I rented it from the video rental store for two weeks back when I was a kid, and never managed to beat it. I got quite far, but I don't recall ever clearing it. Even my friend, who was a far better gamer than I was, never beat it, and he could normally beat _any_ game, no matter how tough. Maybe he did it later, but if so, he never told me.
Funny enough thats why some American releases had increased difficulty, in order to not make them beatable over the period of a common rent time. Konami did this with some of their games as evident with this game and Castlevania 3
I don't even hold it against you for not being able to do 4/4 no damage. This game was brutal and designed as the epitome of quarter muncher. Keep up the good work Shadowserg.
At the first boss the trick is to not move too much so you can keep hitting the helicopter more often while sometimes killing his minions when once they jump out of it, at least that's what i always do! ;)
As a kid I could never get past the jeep section. That shit was beyond frustrating. One of the few Nintendo games I just could not beat. The other t o being festers quest and the Freddy game. The two shredder dudes at the end were a wtf moment. 90s Konami I guess... Man I miss when Konami actually gave a shit about games. They are just shitting on classic IPs and holding them hostage at this point.
Ye whippersnappers hav no idea how lucky ye're! Back in mah day we only had 2 buttons on our video game controllers! (Darn, now I feel like an old grandpa.)
ironically recently I saw chapter 2 of captain n and now see the game that they reference in an embarrassing way in that series and then see the original game, it's something quite funny you know?
@Wieldofrost, actually, one of the Belmont descendants, John Morris, lived in Texas, and so did his son, grandson, and great-grandson, if I do recall my Castlevania lore correctly, so that must mean that they may have visited Louisiana at one point in their lives.
People cry about how hard Contra, Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania 1 and 3 were. But this game was much harder in my book. Beat all those other games, never could get past the final boss in this game. This shit really was "NES hard"!
I miss the good ole days, when being a man protecting a woman was seen as honorable and good. I remember when men actually wanted to protect women. Seems I’m one of the last on earth to believe in that now.
Boss list:
00:51 01 Helicopter
01:25 02 Beard Man
02:51 03 Bad Dudes
03:29 Final Boss - Gordon, Rocky and Rocco

Oh thanks
I always wondered, what were Rocky & Rocco wearing? Body armor or something? They look like they came outta _Double Dragon._

@@cammy85 So, the japanese version is really better? I don't see why they included the zapper support. For me this is a gimmick :)
Seriously, Konami needs to *REMAKE* this game! In fact, it would've looked great back in the beat 'em up arcade circuit! 👊
I doubt Konami has any interest in giving us sequels (much less remakes) these days. ☹

I played the hell out of this game when I was younger. In return, it gave me hell.
I love how in the beginning the bad guys totally couping a feel and the next cutscene is smoking with her tied up
This game kicked my ass when I was a kid. It was satisfying to finally see the ending after all these years so thanks :)
This game was BRUTAL!! I could never make it past the 2nd driving stage. This is the epitome of a difficult game. Amazing job on the bosses!
When I saw that Billy's full name is Billy West I immediately said "Shut up & take my money!"
Me too! Didn't know the voice of Fry, Ren, and Stimpy was a Cajun badass!
"Billy, don't worry, your lovely Annabelle is safe with me."

Damn, to think this is what denied the "no damage" when so many uber-hard games didn't.
Of all the games out there, Bayou Billy strikes me as the most unforgiving. Beating the game alone is a huge feat.
I remember renting this as a kid. ( yes I'm old)
X2, and couldn't remember it's name till today.
That's okay. I still remember the exact price for a 1-day rental, $2.13! We were on the ground floor, folks!
I'm 8
I notice this video doesn't have (no damage) in the title. :)
... I couldn't get past the first level as a kid.
It is extremely difficult.
I thought she would say: "Oh, Billy. You are such a great friend to me!"
When he using the whip it reminds me of castlevania
When i was a kid i really liked this game, a couple years ago i replay it in the emulator and god... it was so fucking hard..
Top 5 hardest nes game worth playing

Wait-wait a second! Billy West was Bayou Billy? Now I'm just hearing Bayou Billy's voice over sounding like Fry from Futurama!
I found its name, finally, thank you
wow..after all these year, the ending music, I still remember.
Thank you Shadowserg. Epic.
Somehow beat this game as a kid, but it was painful and took forever! Borrowed it from a family friend for a few months to do so
"Use the controller "
How else am I supposed to play a video game, lol.
some stages ask you to use the nes gun
@@tristanbel193 the gun is also considered controller.
Game was a pain back when I was a kid.
I played it to death, once I beat it I literally never played it again.

So is avoiding damage on those guys just impossible, or just that hard?
Actually the first nintendo game I played when I upgraded to an NES. Still a brutal (but fair!) game.
Definitely not fair considering the Japanese version is easier and more balanced
@@mr.awesome6011 I found it perfectly fair. It just punished you for screwing up.

I'm not surprised about the difficulty; I'm surprised about how much Konami got away with censorship wise. Smoking and the word God are still there.
