When I was a little kid I distinctly remember the voice announcement at the beginning being EPIC. I remember it sounding like "The adventures... of... BAYOU BILLY!!!" Listening to 0:07 just kind of destroyed a part of my early childhood.
This game is Unfkingbelievably hard. When i was younger i played it a ton and i think once ever did i make it to level 5. That first driving stage is damn near impossible.
The sort of first NES game I owned, I had John Elway's QB, owned it 2 days, it sucked, I returned it, and got this game. Used to be able to easily clear this game quite a bit as it was the only game I had for a good while outside of some rentals of other games. Eventually I traded it away to a friend for SMB 2, still have that SMB 2 to this day. As a collector, of course this game is back in the collection...... along with John Elway's QB. Favorite song of this game, that sweet, succulent boss theme.

This game was about a hillbilly chilling some city sude steels his girl and he lays the justice down with a whip some sticks gun knife. He gets a jeep that tosses grenades at hilicopters the is just awesome.
it kept saying, on this stage use the controller... i thought it utilized the zapper? am i wrong? wikkipedia lists this game as one of the light gun compatible games. i used to own it, but, i bought a system that only came with mario, not duck hunt/mario with the zapper.
Blockbuster made a fortune off of us 80s kids renting bullshyt games like this on the weekends. It was pretty disheartening returning a game without having passed the 3rd stage. Especially Battletoads, since it was such a creative game that was marred by its crippling difficulty...
Something I always wondered (don’t know if anyone can possibly answer) is why is it that you fight Gordon first and then his two bodyguards? Wouldn’t it make more sense if you fought the bodyguards first and then fought Gordon? Or perhaps fought Gordan and the bodyguards at the same time? It makes little sense that the bodyguards would allow Gordon to be killed and then attack Billy.

The driving stages: The blue/turquise jeeps, they moves unpredictable changes lanes in order to not let the player surpass them easily. The blue/turquise muscle cars and sport cars, they sprint foward to overtake the player numerous times but it won't change lanes. The goldenrod/red muscle cars and sport cars, they act like blue/turquise jeeps but easily prediectable. The goldenrod/red jeeps, they act like blue/turquise muscle cars and sport cars but they sprint once. Water puddles slows you down, oil slicks will make you more agile but you will have a hard time to halt your vehicle. Poles must be avoided, sadly they're undestructable. Roads bents are rough and slippery. Enemy aircrafts won''t drop bombs if they're than one enemy vehicles in the screen. The enemy vehicles are not mandatory to destroy them but highly recommended to destroy them.

Ah, Bayou Billy. One of the more imaginative NES games, it had a bunch of really good ideas of varied gameplay, kind of like the Cinemaware games of old... Unfortunately, it didn't do any of the minigames particularly well.
That first driving stage ruins the ntsc version, there's no excuse why that wasn't caught in play testing. You have to drive the car fast to make the time limit and the rocks require memorization to get through, you've got those planes randomly spawning and those other vehicles you have to dodge as well as a slip can. The car should have had it's own meter like the jp version. Anything so much as touches it and you lose a life is just bad game design, weird for Konami. If you've played it you know exactly what I'm talking about. The rest of the game is a masterpiece minus that stage.
It was left this way intentionally due to the rental market in the US, which didn't exist in Japan. Konami wanted to make sure people purchased games to finish them, not have them so easily beaten on a weekend rental, thereby costing them a sale on a copy.
Super Mahilo The bullet proof vest makes the game a lot easier (you take less damage and bullets and other weapons are harmless). Unfortunately if you die you lose it.
That boss is pretty random, sometimes I could kill him without taking much damage and other times he'd destroy me. Welcome to the hit detection of Bayou Billy lol!

Use the controller instead of the zapper. On the title screen choose game B instead of game A.
